Great for the price. The pad is made of paper, but since you should replace it every year that is not a problem. The do make a aluminum pad, but it is not really necessary and just adds cost. The paper pad is coated with something so the paper does not fall apart.

Cheap Honeywell HC26P Whole House Humidifier Pad
Honeywell makes 2 different pads. HC26P1002 is made out of paper and coated with an anti-microbial coating. HC26E1004, which costs more, is a clay pad with Agion coating, the coating is silver ion anti microbial, not just plain anti-microbial. I like the clay product better.

Cheap Holmes HM1761-U 2Gal Cool Mist Humidifier
We have 2 of these humidifiers, and they work very well. We require the white noise for sleeping, so we love that it is loud. The tank lasts for two nights (about 24 hours running time. We add a capful of Holmes Bacteriostat to the water each time, and no mold grows on the filter. This product is basically peroxide, and the bottle lasts all winter for two humidifiers. My only complaint is that there is no way to clean off the fan blades, and after three years of use we need new machines. Still, I think they are a great value and they help eliminate stuffy noses at our house!
As humidifiers go, the unit is a bit loud, although as another reviewer said, the 'white noise' type of sound doesn't bother our sleep.
We're definitely searching for a new humidifier this one is becoming to expensive to continue using.
I keep it upstairs and I can't hear it downstairs. Doesn't bother me at all. Easy to clean and fill.

We have owned this unit for approximately 3-4 months and have had to change the filter four times now. At about $10 per filter, the cost of ownership is just not worth it. After about a month of use, the filters begin to smell musty or moldy, requiring us to change them (or fill the room with musty smelling moisture). As humidifiers go, the unit is a bit loud, although as another reviewer said, the 'white noise' type of sound doesn't bother our sleep.

I have a lot of Holmes products, so when I was looking for a new humidifier, I purchased this one. It is so loud! On high it sounded like a snow blower at a ski resort. If you are looking to put this in a bedroom or a place where you don't want loud noise, look for a different model.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Holmes HM1761-U 2Gal Cool Mist Humidifier
This humidifier is easy to use, easy to clean and works well without spewing white dust all over the place. The only complaint is that the fan blades get dirty after a few months and they are hard to get to to clean. I just got a screwdriver and took the thing apart, cleaned the fan, and put the unit back together.Friday, August 15, 2014
Reviews of Protec WF2 Extended Life Replacement Humidifier Filter(Pack of 3)
I seem to remember the original instructions were to clean the filter regularly. I don't have a problem with mold or slime buildup, but see they have a product for that.
I have very hard water and so quickly get a buildup of minerals left over as the water evaporates. To remove that, I simply pour some vinegar onto the filter from the top, while it's still in the machine. As the crust starts to soften (the vinegar dissolves the crust) I pour the liquid in the bottom of the machine into the sink, lay the filter down (it will now flatten without breaking) pour some more vinegar on it (probably 2 cups, total) and let it soak until it stops bubbling. Rinse good with water and it's ready to go again. I've used the same filter for several years. It is now finally disintegrating so I'm buying a new one.
This machine is for the bedroom. I also have a much larger one, different make, same type filter, large-room size, and use the same procedure for it.
12/9/08-Too bad this is the only place I have easily found these. I cannot believe they have gone up $10 in cost since I purchased them a year ago (11/30/07)!
Note: One point of confusion is how Amazon lists this item (as of 1/24/10). The title reads: "2 Filters (Pack of 3)" actually, each box only contains 1 filter. The packaging is confusing as there's a big 2 on the top right of the box. However, if you look at the lower right corner of the box, in much smaller print you see "Contains 1 filter." So, in summary, you are ordering a total of 3 filters (1 Filter/box, Pack of 3 boxes).
It feels like I'm getting suckered by a racket. Just out of principal, I'd much rather buy a humidifier that's higher performing and spend the extra money there rather than having to deal with ordering two packs of these per winter. They're bulky to store and it's just a hassle.

I purchase these every year for my Vicks humidifier. I have spent way beyond what the machine itself cost me on filters. Each filter lasts about a month to 6 weeks before getting moldy and stops wicking the water. I only use the humidifier for about 4 months in the Winter, which a 3 pack of filters is good for. I would use it all year if I did not have to keep replacing the filters. If someone knows a better choice of longer lasting filters, please post.12/9/08-Too bad this is the only place I have easily found these. They fit and work as expected. Just like any other humidifier filter, they need replacing after dirt and minerals build up. These filters work just like to filter that came with the original unit.Honest reviews on Protec WF2 Extended Life Replacement Humidifier Filter(Pack of 3)
This replacement filter does just the trick. I run my Vics V3100 on high every night and the filter lasts just under two months for me (the box states: "The Cool Mist Wicking Filter should be replaced about every two months, depending on use and local water hardness.") If the humidifier tank runs out of water while running, the filter will dry up completely until you add more water I've found that this practice reduces the life of the filter.Note: One point of confusion is how Amazon lists this item (as of 1/24/10). Cheap Puzhen PZ-UA08C Bamboo Essential Oil Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser
I absolutely love this diffuser. Puzhen is a great brand. doTERRA (although they aren't my favorite essential oil company) are the US exclusive distributors of the Puzhen Lotus diffuser. This diffuser is comparable to the Lotus as far as specifications are concerned, however, this diffuser, the Bamboo, actually has a larger water reservoir, which equals a larger running time. It's not cheaply made. It's actually a lot better than most diffusers. I highly recommend this product.

I have another puzhen diffuser from the 5 sense line it is of exceptional quality and craftsmanship. I expected more, aesthetically from this diffuser. I have no idea where the "Bamboo" in the name comes from as it no way resembles bamboo and is plastic head to toe. It is also about 5 shades lighter in color than pictured. Much more a cappuccino foam rather than coffee color. The little grey point on the top left hand side is actually white. Other than that it works well.Best Deals for Puzhen PZ-UA08C Bamboo Essential Oil Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser

I had high hopes for this when I first bought it. It worked well at first, but shut off very quickly if too much water got into one of the chambers. Problem was, that seemed to happen every 20 minutes, so I couldn't get much use of it. Then it just stopped working altogether. Not worth the money.
the night light is nice, but you can't turn it off separately, if the humidifier is on so is the night light, haven't had any problems with it not working because of too much water in the base
not sure about any kind of filter I could use, doesn't say anything anywhere in the manual

This humidifier is awesome. I got one for my infant when he was recovering from a nasty upper respiratory infection. It works extremely well and runs for a long time on one fill up, even when it's going full-blast. It's adorable, to boot. Filling the reservoir is a tiny bit awkward, as is moving the machine after it's filled, but other than that, I have absolutely no complaints and would happily buy this product again. As another reviewer pointed out, the eyes light up when the unit is on. It's not that bright and functions like a night light. If that will bother you, then pick another humidifier.Best Deals for Home Image MF-5K125 Turtle Humidifier

got this for my 12 rifle gun safe and it seems to work fine. It seems like i'm having to "re-charge" it every 2-3 weeks and I don't know if this is normal or not. I wish it had some type of timer that beeped that would let you know it was time to unplug it. I accidentally left mine plugged in for about 18 hours and it was really hot which may be a safety concern.Best Deals for Model 365 Mini Dehumidifier

I'm not an expert on dehumidifiers and this little guy was my first one. I have a collection of 26 guns stored in a large safe in the garage. Before I got them into the safe they were in a storage facility and just a few months of that had put rust spots on practically everything. The humidity in those places is not conducive to keeping a collection clean and I was super happy to finally get them into a locked safe. I expected to pay some good money to keep them dry from here on out but I was really surprised to pay just over $30 for this one. It keeps $20K worth of guns spotless and the crystals are the proof it is working. I dropped it in with the crystals dark blue and now 2 months later they are completely pink from the moisture. It keeps my whole safe dry as a bone and I am on here to order another one for another gun safe. It is small, it works well, it has no cord (the whole unit plugs into the wall), doesn't need batteries. This is as simple a solution as there is and I couldn't be happier with it.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Model 365 Mini Dehumidifier

I purchased this product to replace an old wick that I had in my humidifier. The new product went in fine and seemed to work...other than having a funny "factory" smell at first. After a couple days of using the wick I still noticed the smell. I took the wick out and doused/rinsed it in water. That seemed to help cut the smell. We continued to use the humidifier 24/7 for the next couple of weeks and the wick continued to be fine. It worked well for about 30 days of constant use at which point I removed it from the humidifier because it was starting to mold. Would be great for someone who uses the products sporadically.

Buy Duracraft DWM250 2-1/2-Gallon Warm-Mist Humidifier
My grandparents had a cabin in Canada, and their "humidifier" was a shovel full of snow in a big pot on the wood stove. Ah...those were the days. Fast forward to the present, in my home without a wood stove, to a complaining wife and stuffy newborn. What I thought was a seemingly easy task turned into a nightmare, thanks to the internet and Amazon reviews.
The type was easy. Cool mist is too moldy (unless they are kept clean, and let's be realistic, who actually cleans humidifiers?) and filters are pricey, ultrasonic has the added benefit of the "white powder" in the air and settling on everything, and the whole-home kind that are attached to the furnace ducts aren't really made for small heat pump HVAC like I have in my house. So, warm mist it was, and I started on my journey to find the perfect one.
And it was a journey. I found fancy ones with all sorts of features, and cheap ones that made steam. All had one thing in common, those that hated them and gave them one star, and those that loved them and gave them more stars.
Meanwhile, my wife borrowed her mother's humidifier, which happened to be a many year old version of this particular one. It's the same humidifier we've borrowed every year since my wife and I got married five years ago. After playing with the idea of a UV lighted, mineral pad soaking, multi-gallon capacity, built-in hygrometer monster, I decided to get two of these units instead--at a cheaper price. Why?
For one, my mother-in-law's unit still runs like a champ after all this use. We really only use it at night for sleeping. The trick is to fill it up and run it on high while getting ready for bed, and then turn it on low when going to sleep. The water lasts all night and it increases the humidity nicely.
For two, many of the features offered on more expensive models are all but useless. So many people complain about filling the things--is it really that hard to walk to the sink once a day? In order to kill airborne germs, a lot more is needed than the tiny UV light offered in other humidifiers. If the built-in hydrometer is out of whack, too bad! Mineral filtration pads? Unless a person is unlucky enough to live in a "liquid rock" area, a good wiping with paper towel soaked in vinegar once a week is all that's needed to clean the heating element.
Sometimes, less is more, and I believe this is definitely the case with humidifiers.
A friend suggested a warm air humidifier and I looked into it and liked what I read. I then researched, reading reviews and customer comments even using Consumer Report. I kept coming back to this one and saw the definite mix of positive and negative reviews. I read all the negatives and saw that most were looking for the humidifier to do or be more than it said it was.
I live in a studio apartment and the humidifier says it is for rooms 400 to 700 square feet. Perfect for me. It also says that it runs up to 12 hours on one filling and it does. When I run it on the low speed it lasts 12 hours exactly. The directions also say to disinfect it before the first use. This is very important. With something like a humidifier it is very important to follow all directions. If you do not, you don't have a right to complain if it does not work correctly. This humidifier is very easy to clean/maintain and also very easy to fill. If you do not want to be filling it every 12 hours or more then get a different humidifier. For me, it is very simple and easy knowing I need to easily fill it every 12 hours.
The humidifier also makes no noise at all on either the high or low speed. I find that when running it constantly on low my humidity level is perfect and I feel great. This machine does exactly what it says it does so make sure that it will satisfy your needs. It is easy to use/maintain so much simpler than a cool mist humidifier. I will never return to a cool mist one again.
I highly recommend this unit and say just make sure it is what you want before purchasing. Hope this helps you with your humidifier decisions.

I really like this humidifier and have been on the very difficult journey to discover which humidifier will work for me, whether cool or warm mist is better and which actually does what it says the same as everyone else. I get frequent sinus infections and am in great need of a humidifier here in the northeast during the cold months with the heat. I just constantly don't feel good without one. For over 10 years I have used cool mist humidifiers. I honestly never considered a warm one. The last one I had was a Holmes and it was certainly not cheap. I took good care of it and it still worked only 1 year. The filters were expensive and the unit was very noisy Last year when it worked it worked well, but last winter it worked only half the time. I have gone through quite a few humidifiers. I had one like this before, after a few years it gave in because I never cleaned it (shame on me). Then I tried a few ultrasonic (ultraexpensive) humidifiers, which really hardly bring the humidity up (I have a hygrometer). So I decided to buy this one again, and am as happy as with the first one. If you want your room to increase in humidity, forget about those ultrasonics and go for this one. Cheap and good.Honest reviews on Duracraft DWM250 2-1/2-Gallon Warm-Mist Humidifier
This is my third warm mist humidifier. They just don't last very long. The cool mist ones don't seem to make the room more humid. The last one I had (which looked similar to this) lasted two years, and the rubber stopper part at the bottom dried up during the summer (when it was not in use) and cracked. My first one only last one year. I am resigned to the fact that I will likely have to buy a humidifier every 1-2 years, so I'd better not spend a lot for them. This one works well, and on the low setting, can last 10-11 hours. This setting is enough for my medium sized room. On high output, it goes through the water very quickly, and if your room is small, will feel tropical. The one thing I don't like about this one is that after putting the dial on the desired setting, you still have to push a "start" button to make it start putting out mist.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Duracraft DWM250 2-1/2-Gallon Warm-Mist Humidifier
The plastic on this model is pretty thin and flimsy, so I'm always afraid I am going to accidentaly snap or crack a part (like the screw-on lid) and completely destroy the product or render it useless, but the overall engineering design is really good, it is still working after about a year, great for baby, great for me. For the price I am satisfied, but I wish they would make more of a "mercedes" model for a slightly higher price that uses the same design, maybe a little more technology for the controls and more durable plastic. I love the fact that the water tank is removable, fillable and sealed shut for the trip back to the unit, no pouring or spilling involved. I bought this model because it has the same water tank and mist tower design as a Sunbeam cool mist humidifier that my parents used on me as a baby (which I still have and use for my son), and that thing is damn near indestructible.Tuesday, December 10, 2013

These humidifier wicks work OK, but they do not put out the kind of humidity that the original replacements do... I ordered four, which will probably take me through the heating season, but find that I now have to run another humidifier in a remote part of my apartment to really do the job... Note: The item now pictured is not the ones you will get... The ones being shipped now have a blue fabric-like covering... Again, they are good, but not quite as good as the originals, which have a mesh covering... (m.)
The problem is the God-awful smell in the first few days. Just opening the box, with dry filters, is bracing. Once you get it wet and turn on the fan, stand by for stank. Really terrible smell for the first 24 hours, then bad for the next 24, then the smell seemed to fade.
There is no way this is worth it in exchange for saving a few bucks per filter. Go with a more expensive version...you get what you pay for in this case.
These last every bit as long as the name brand ones. The wear depends on how often you use it and whats in your water that you use. We have hard treated Missouri river water in the midwest and usually get 3-4 weeks out of one filter.
The only drawback is that they have a strange "new carpet" type smell to them . after a day or two of the humidifyer running you dont notice it but ....

The low price was a decisive factor for me. I ordered six of these, thinking that would definitely get me through the winter. They look and work as advertised, although I can't really compare them to the factory filter since it has been several years since ours was used up and I don't recall the water consumption rate from back then. This filter resulted in using the whole tank in about 12 hours when running the fan on high in a very dry room, which seem reasonable. The problem is the God-awful smell in the first few days. Best Germ-Free UV Humidifier Deals
I needed a humidifier for the room where i keep my guitars .. I have fount this unit very efficient. It shuts itself off when it measures "enough' humidity which you can choose. This is very important in a house with electric heat. I have fumbled with the fill cap, but I do not find it cumbersome. And I use a pitcher to fill it so I am not trying to figure out if i have to bring it to the kitchen to fill or use the bathtub. Therefore, I have found it convenient and easy to use, and I would recommend it to a friend.
I have purchased numerous humidifiers over the years finding them to provide great relief for sinus sufferers when dry air / dry heat is problematic. I just pulled out an old Holmes HM-5700 unit out of the closet which required Bacteriostat be added to the water (still have several bottles) and found it to have a sticky substance all through out it and it fits perfectly in the box I just received the Brookstone unit to put in the dumpster. The Holmes unit produced a fair amount of steam, but required a lot of work to keep the unit clean.
I read numerous reviews looking for a unit that did not require a lot of maintenance keeping the heating coil free from built up residue and would deliver a significant amount of steam to my liking. My observations of this unit:
PROS
1) Love the design of the unit
2) Features simple to use
3) Used tap water but will be looking to purchase distilled water
4) Unit is ultra quiet
5) Has a medicine cup
6) UV 3.5W replacement bulb for sanitzing unit
7) Runs up to 3 nights or 24 hours per filling
CONS
1) Expensive in comparison to similar units with a $129.99 price tag
2) Blue light is very bright
3) Steam is more of a vapor and not a significant amount to my liking, woke up with eyes puffy
4) Mineral absorption pads EMP-17P recommended for mineral buildup but not required (highly recommend)
5) To clean the unit it recommends 1 cup of white vinegar be added to the reservoir and allowed to soak for 20-30 minutes
5) To disinfect the water tank it recommends a teaspoon of bleach be allowed to sit for 20 minutes.

Needing a germ free humidifier this was highly recommended by one review with many stars. However, lo and behold, this humidifier is poorly made. The threads for replacing the cap are difficult to screw on because of the shoddiness of the manufacture. Its takes several attempts to get the cap screwed on. Several times, believing all was well, the cap gave wayi pouring water over the furniture. For the humidifier at this price, I would hope more precision could have been used.Best Deals for Germ-Free UV Humidifier
I received the unit yesterday and immediately filled to test the unit overnight. Overall I would have to say that I will have to continue searching for my dream machine. Because of the lack of significant steam I slept uncomfortably having to lay relatively close to the unit to feel it, and still woke up with puffy eyes. Some vapor is better than none at all!!I have purchased numerous humidifiers over the years finding them to provide great relief for sinus sufferers when dry air / dry heat is problematic. I had to return this Item to the Brookstone store, they gave me a credit. Water did not cover the heating element as it was supposed to. Would not reccomend.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Germ-Free UV Humidifier
Well, this is better than the Kaz product I bought at local drugstore, but it is noisy, the night light is so bright I have to cover it up with makeshift cardboard, it does not disperse the humidity all that well, it needs cleaning very frequently.
