Review of XiKar Cigar Travel Case

Our XiKar Cigar Travel Case arrived promptly and looked just like the photos. I had read that it sealed so well that it was a little difficult to open sometimes. I also read a review that said prying it open with a quarter worked wonders. I subsequently read that after an airplane flight it is even harder to open and obviously ours was shipped via air.

We poked, we prodded, we broke finger nails. We followed one suggestion of leaving it in a hot car I think you have to leave it there for a day or two, just just 2-3 hours.

We finally worked the hinge loose about 2 notches which allowed enough flex at the hinge end to get a thin screw driver wedged in and we worked that around, slowly, scratching it once or twice and then... a small WHOOSH, little pressure equalization. A few more inches of prying and it opened.

All of this could have been avoided had the manufacturer put a piece of cardboard or something along the seal before shipping.

Finally we did get it open. And we will NOT travel by plane with it. Sorry, it's too much of a nuisance.

But once opened it was just as represented. We're not major cigar hobbyists so I have no idea whether it will maintain exactly 70% humidity for long periods of time. But based on the quality, look and feel, I am very confident it will be excellent for our purposes. And what are our purposes to have a small sturdy case that we can throw in a suitcase when we DRIVE (not fly) on a short vacation. It would also be great for someone who just wants a sturdy case for a few cigars and doesn't necessarily want to display it. For the price you can't beat it.

The construction seems excellent and all in all, after the challenge of opening it, we're more than pleased with our purchase.

I bought this for my father-in-law who travels several times a year for several weeks. I really liked this humidor for several reasons 1. it's extremely lightweight. While adding cigars will of course add to the weight, the case itself won't weigh down your luggage. 2 I like the foam inserts to keep the cigars separate. 3 I LOVE that there is a humidifcation product in the lid. No having to add or purchase any extra pieces. Overall it's great. One reviewer commented to help break the airtight seal that you pinch the lid and case together works great when you do that. I feel this will last for many years.

I received the humidor and it is very well built and airtight. I did not have the problem opening it that some reviewers had. The only reason that it isn't 5 stars is because there should be something covering the top layer of cigars so that the humidifier doesn't ruin them.

We inherited an older "original size" model, which didn't really work for us because it was too wide (didn't fit well in the room, and newborn baby didn't like all of the extra space) and it couldn't be raised (the older models are incompatible with the leg extension kits). We bought this one to replace it, and couldn't be happier. It's a much more reasonable size for a newborn, and fits really well in the room.

We don't intend on taking it up and down a lot (to make the play yard), so I can't speak to the other reviewer's comments that it's a pain, but it was super easy to assemble in the first place, and seems very sturdy, even using the full set of leg extensions to get it to a reasonable height.

Also, it packs down to a really reasonable size, so we intend on taking it on flights to visit relatives because it isn't bulky at all. Much more compact than the "original size" model.

I bought this cosleeper for my 5week old son, it is a must have for a bf mamma with lo. Assembly was easy. It's a little hard to change the sheet (velcro) have to have my hubby do it for me. I have a taller bed and ordered the arms reach to Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper Bassinet Leg Extension Kit to raise up the cosleeper,. I'm using all then extensions that came in the kit. It's a little unsteady on the extensions (arms reach recommends that you tether it to the bed when using the extension kit) but its not

going to fall over, seems safe. The pad that comes w/the unit is similar to the bottom of a playpen. You will need an pad to go over it, i wouldn't put my LO to sleep on it. Don't waste your money on expensive mattresses or pads from Arms

Reach. I ordered the Snoozy Organic 2 PACK Flannel Cotton Anti Allergy Waterproof pads. They fit perfectly and my LO seems comfortable.

My wife & I chose this co-sleeper because we wanted something for our newborn to sleep in while he stayed in our bedroom the first few months. Our baby isn't here yet, but just from putting this together (which can be a little frustrating with all the Velcro straps sticking to everything...hence, why I rated 4 stars), we both already really like it. The structure is pretty solid for a mostly plastic piece of furniture, and with the plush fitted sheet we bought to go along with the mattress, it seems very comfy for our boy. All this is wishful thinking for now, haha, but we are pleased with the purchase, nonetheless.

This thing is frustrating to put together. The instructions instruct the user to install everything, including the Velcro-intensive liner (which has to be done with care to avoid loose fabric in the sleeping area) and then instructs the user to pull the whole thing apart to Velcro-install the mattress. I selected this product in large part because of the convertible aspect. Because the process is so cumbersome, this product is not convertible for everyday purposes. I wish I had made a different bassinet choice.

In an effort to get rid of some of the white dust associated with my ultrasonic humidifier, I followed the instructions and began adding the appropriate amount of this to my water. I'd argue that it actually made the white dust problem worse, but I couldn't prove that. I can however say it made no improvements whatsoever.

Very few places carry the water treatment in a size and application strength for a home one or two gallon vaporiser. The usual offering was for a 20 gallon barrel, to be diluted one gallon for 70 gallons of solution, or some equally obscure home use. The Amazon seller not only had the product I needed, in a size I needed, but the price was low enough to make me feel I was really getting a good value!

I use my vaporiser 'round the clock. By using just 2 capfuls of the water treatment in each filling, I extended my cleaning time from every 3 or 4 days, to 15-16 days; then it is much easier to clean. Love the stuff!

I often have "white dust" from my humidifier so I purchased this hoping it would eliminate/reduce the amount of dust from my humidifier. I didn't really notice a difference after using this 3-4 times in my humidifier.

I had high hopes for this when I first bought it. It worked well at first, but shut off very quickly if too much water got into one of the chambers. Problem was, that seemed to happen every 20 minutes, so I couldn't get much use of it. Then it just stopped working altogether. Not worth the money.

This humidifier is awesome. I got one for my infant when he was recovering from a nasty upper respiratory infection. It works extremely well and runs for a long time on one fill up, even when it's going full-blast. It's adorable, to boot. Filling the reservoir is a tiny bit awkward, as is moving the machine after it's filled, but other than that, I have absolutely no complaints and would happily buy this product again. As another reviewer pointed out, the eyes light up when the unit is on. It's not that bright and functions like a night light. If that will bother you, then pick another humidifier.

the night light is nice, but you can't turn it off separately, if the humidifier is on so is the night light, haven't had any problems with it not working because of too much water in the base

I was skeptical when my husband decided to order this. However, once it was set up properly, it allowed us to easily position our de-humidifier so that it can drain into our basement laundry sink, which is about three feet higher off the ground than where the water otherwise would drain from the de-humidifier. The pump also gives us the flexibility to move the de-humidifier to other locations where we would otherwise need to elevate the de-humidifer to get proper drainage.

Although the component is exactly what's needed to repair an outdated, non-functional Aprilaire humidifier, and it fits perfectly into the existing space without needing to be modified in any way, it is ridiculously overpriced. For your money, you get the two-piece, snap-together plastic pump housing, a replacement plastic pump impeller, a plastic spacer, and a thin metal washer. All told, these pieces contain possibly a dollar's worth of materials. Although no instructions are supplied with the parts, they are easy to assemble into the existing humidifier. But, as with all special-purpose replacement mechanical components, you can't grab them at the local hardware store: the supply is low, so the price is high. I would suggest to anyone that needs this part to consider replacing the entire humidifer instead.
