I guess I'll keep getting these as I don't see much of a choice short of buying another humidifier. But these don't last long before they get cruddy and stop wicking moisture. Not impressed.

Cheap The First Years Replacement Pads for American Red Cross Cool Mist
This did not arrive in proper packaging. In fact it was only one filter, not two, and not in any type of plastic wrapping. No where does it indicate that it was made by TOMY.

Reviews of Stadler Form William Ultrasonic Humidifier Black
I recently moved to Aurora, Colorado (just outside Denver) and at 5,400 feet the humidity is extremely low. I noticed my skin began to itch, which it had not done before. My doctor advised moisturizing creams, which helped a bit, and an air humidifier. After a lot of investigating I narrowed my search to the Air-O-Swiss and the Williams. In fact, both units seemed remarkably similar with both using a "patented" ionic silver cube and a filter cartridge which seem visually identical. Both units provide warm and cool mist. Possibly the technology is licensed from Air-O-Swiss? The deciding factors for me were:
(a) the Air-O-Swiss listed a capacity of 650 sq. ft. and the Stadler 1,000 sq. ft. I have a very small house 850 sq. ft. which effectively makes the Stadler a whole house humidifier for me.
b) almost every review of the Air-O-Swiss commented on the inaccuracy of it's humidity meter and the only review I could find of the Stadler said it's meter was accurate.
THE GOOD: Assembly is a snap. The meter is close to accurate. The water tank is extremely easy to remove and fill. It is dark plastic, but the water level can be seen quite clearly. The tank capacity is sufficient for 9 hours of continual use. The machine is so silent that I have to listen closely at night to hear anything at all. Just a soft "ssshhh." The Control Panel is easy to see and use with many options and has a light to indicate no-water.
My skin itching stopped.
THE NOT SO GOOD: It is expensive and every source I could find had the same price. The filter cartridge needs to be replaced three or four times a year, depending on the hardness of your water, or when white dust accumulates on the unit or on a small mirror held to the fog. The ionic cube must also be replaced once a year. A testing strip is included and if your water has a hardness greater than 21 degrees dH, an ionic humidifier is not recommended. They suggest then using an impeller humidifier. The Desired Humidity cannot be set lower than 40%, but I found that setting it at 60% results in an actual humidity level of about 37% which is what I want anyway.
THE BAD: I couldn't find any.
SOME NOTES ON OPERATION: The instructions say not to place the Stadler Williams directly on the floor or next to heating. I went to Ace Hardware and found a small, plastic step stool for $12 that is 5" high. This keeps the unit off the rug and makes it easier to access when changing settings. If you have an chest of drawers in the room with space on top it should work equally well. A review of the Swiss-O-Air reported good results from soaking the ionic cube in water for 24 hours before initial use to increase effectiveness. I don't know if this is beneficial, but I did it and had no bad result.
I set my unit to Auto/Sleep
IMPORTANT: Several reviews of the Air-O-Swiss said that they used de-ionized water. The Stadler unit specifically recommends against this. It is designed to use with untreated water or with a drinking water filter system such as Brita. Using any additives are specifically warned against.
(Pros)
1stylish
2convenient
3easy to carry around/easy maintenance
(Cons)
No major cons the than price for the unit itself and the parts not cheap but overall based on the convenience worth it! Also, the panel can be a bit distracting during the night with all the colors and bright lights but then again, I don't sleep with my eyes open!
Here are my pros and cons:
Pro Great steam production
Pro Double steam spout
Pro Totally quiet
Con Unit is black on the inside so not easy to see when it's dirty and needs cleaning and no indicator for cleaning like on the Air O Swiss
Con Lights on panel are too bright. There's a dim mode supposedly I haven't found but for now I used some tape to cover up the disco show coming off the panel.
Con Tank is drippier compared to the Air O Swiss when I take it out to refill the tank.
Con Never heard of this company outside of Amazon and I'm worried what happens if I need service or replacement parts and they no long sell on Amazon.
Basically I bought the WILLIAM because I wanted more steam and I feel I'm getting it. As for my gripes; they're all pretty negotiable.
Another downside to this product is the substandard instructions for use. Right out of the box, I thought there were pieces missing. Turns out that the water tank needs to be removed and the filter and other items are packaged and shipped inside the water tank. Nowhere in the instructions was there any reference to where these items were at. In addition, there was a red sheet of paper included with the literature that stated to soak the "anticalc cartridege" (yes, this is how it was spelled) in a water bath for 24-hours. In the description of the product parts nothing was identified as the "anticalc cartridege." I eventually made the connection that I believe they are referring to the "Limescale and Bacteria Filter" since most filters that are placed in water typically do need to be soaked in water prior to being used. A little more clarity however in the overall instructions would have been very helpful.
Once you overcome the directions it's easy to use. Replacing the filter can (and will) be costly you'll need to replace the filter between 10 and 60 days depending on how hard your water is (probably will cost around $20 each). In addition, the Ionic Silver Cube will need replaced occasionally another $25. Annual/seasonal use of this product therefore could easily cost over $300.
This product simply wasn't what I was looking for. I didn't want to potentially ruin it by using my softened tap water and I also didn't want the hassle of constantly purchasing and storing gallons of water for use with this product.

I wholly agree with the previous rater also funny, I used to work in Aurora, CO I now live in Alexandria, VA were it is a bit more humid, but during Winter like everywhere else humidity drops quite a bit and I like to keep the environment at no less than 45% this unit is:(Pros)

I bought the WILLIAM to replace my Air O Swiss 7135 because it claims to cover 400 more sq feet (1000 vs 600) and my maybe 500 sq foot bedroom is very drafty in the winter compounded by the baseboard heat constantly kicking off all night. So I've got this humidifier to battle it out between a constant stream of cold and hot dry air. Here are my pros and cons:

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a very compact unit and I was anxious to use it in a room where we have a Liberty Woodstove. Unfortunately, what is not outlined in the product description online is that this unit only works properly with untreated water. You are not to use this product with water from decalcifying devices, ion exchangers or where water softeners are used. Therefore if you have hard water and use a water softener this product is not for you unless you plan on purchasing bottled/distilled water (which I'm assuming could be an alternative however I'm not 100% certain).Another downside to this product is the substandard instructions for use. Right out of the box, I thought there were pieces missing. Turns out that the water tank needs to be removed and the filter and other items are packaged and shipped inside the water tank. I like the color and design, it is dark and compact and does not look like it should be in a hospital room. As advertised it is quiet make that silent, there is no noise. The tank lifts easily from the humidifier for easily refilling but you want to have a towel handy to put under the tank to catch drops of water when you remove the tank. The filter cartridges cost $20. We have soft water so supposedly we only have to change the filter every 60 days, but if your water is harder you would have to change it monthly so that could be a cost of $240 a year to add on to the cost of the humidifier that is a downside for me. My wife was experiencing some problem with her eyes because of the dryness of our weather and the humidifier has greatly helped. The only problem we experienced was a somewhat acrid odor when we first turned it on so I had to run it in the garage for three days before the odor was gone. We have only had the humidifier for three weeks but other than the initial odor and the the every other month expense for filters we are very happy with the product.Monday, May 12, 2014

It heats water which is exactly what it is meant to do. A couple items I would change on it if I could. It would be handy if the handle would stay upright as it is shown in the photo but it's no big deal-breaker for me. The lid is bit tricky to open when adding more water to it (we leave it on the stove, on the trivet) if you're wearing hot gloves or a oven mit again not a serious problem. A little potpouri and a couple quarts of water and your off an runnig. Be carefull not to put too much water in it as it tends to boil out the snout if you do.
Party on Garth. This humidifier is terrible. Not only did it not get hot enough to steam, it rusted immediately. We are having better luck with a regular cast iron pan.

I was not really happy with these humidifiers. I think they are rated too high. As in the small one is rated for humidors up to 30 cigars and the one rated for up to 100 cigars had trouble keeping humidity to 65% +(maybe 1/2 that amount?). and they seem to not work very well with the recommended distilled water. They seemed to do OK with 50/50 mix of glycol, but at the price seemed to defeat the purpose for buying these in the first place! You be better off sticking with the old style foam humidifiers, or step up and get an electric one. Which is what I did with my large humidor.

This humidifier works great for small humidors (25 ct or less). I've had no issues & my cigars remained at perfect temp/pH level. I would recommend this to anyone.Best Deals for Paradigm System
I purchased this for my home humidor which holds about 40 cigars, but since this is recommended for up to 30 cigars had to buy another to compensate. It works well, seems to keep my humidity level at where it needs to be. I would recommend it to anyone serious about their cigars.Honest reviews on Paradigm System
I've had multiple humidifiers for my humidor and had constant trouble keeping the optimum humidity level. The paradigm system has made it easy to keep my cigars perfectly preserved. Now, when I order cigars online, I throw them in the humidor for a few weeks before smoking them. I can definitely taste the difference. I would suggest you make sure to buy the right size for your humidor though. I bought the smaller paradigm originally and had trouble keeping the humidor at the correct humidity level. However, I've had no problems since I bought the larger model.Monday, March 17, 2014

I have the original Duracraft DCM-200. This Honeywell is the exact replacement for it. I love it. I have electric heat from an 80's furnace that has a permanent filter I cannot replace so the air in here is bad. I have permanent post-nasal drip, my son is Croup sensitive and my DH is asthmatic. Warm Mist humidifiers aggravate sinus problems so *do not* use warm mist for sinus problems.Cool Mist are great for Sinus and preventing Croup but must use filters due to the nature of waterbourne mold in cool air technology. I use my humidifiers for a 160 sf and 145 sf rooms. I keep them on low each night, and use about half the tank. My filters last around six weeks because I do not use the pro-tech bulbs (they do not work). I use BestAir Water Treatment tablets, extra strength (the pink box.) I bleach treat the water tank plus vinegar clean the base every 2 1/2 months. Yes, cool mist humidifiers make noise (warm mist sterilize with the hot steam that comes out, are quiet) but this is the quietest one I've found. If the noise of a clothes dryer next to your bedroom bothers your sleep, then a cool mist will bug you too. I get my filters for 7 bucks each (I buy 6 per shipment). 2HT Bionaire Humidifier Water Treatment Tablets (12 Pack)
Excellent for people with allergies, sinus congestion, and dry eyes or skin.
I haven't had any issues handling the water tank, as noted in another review. Also, as soon as the filled water tank is set into place, the water is allowed to drain into the filter housing where the filter can automatically suck up the water. Therefore it does not seem necessary to wet the filter beforehand. My item did not come with the manufacture's instructions so I am not sure if this is recommended.
I recommend placing the humidifier in the desired location before filling the water tank because water may seep out if held at an angle. I also recommend carrying from the base because the water tank and filter housing are on separate, removable sides.
The replacement filters cost about $10 each.
The things I enjoyed about this humidifier was as follows:
-The fan was really loud and it actually kept us all sleeping through the night better. I live in a noisy area and the noise was very soothing. i saw that some people didnt enjoy this humidifier because of this, but it worked wonders for us.
-I noticed a difference in the moisture of the room. our room is fairly small and we shut the door to make sure that it was really making it as moist as possible. it really felt like it was a tropical jungle in our room at night. I could feel the moisture on my skin and we all woke up feeling softer and hydrated! I have since bought a humidifier and I cant tell that its doing anything, the honeywell sure did work!
-I like how the water canister comes apart from the machine so that I can leave it set up and just grab the container part only to fill it
with that being said, there is a reason i gave it such a low rating
-in less then two weeks of this running only at night, we noticed our room smelled awful. at first I just assumed all the extra moisture had made our clothes smell moldy or our bedding. however when we looked at the filter we were shocked at the level of mold it had grown in such a short amount of time. the smell was out of control. the replacement filters are $10 a piece and we just cant afford to keep putting that much money into this little machine.
we had followed the instructions to a tee and aired out our room in the day when the humidifier was not running. i cant imagine that this is supposed to happen. Ive read reviews for the filters and others had the same problem.
spend a little bit more money and buy something that lasts and is good quality that you dont have to invest money into every two weeks, thats what im going to do... this baby is going back.
really wanted to like it :(
We have a variety of humidifiers we run in the winter because our heat is forced hot water. This causes the house to dry out fairly quickly. So we have humidifiers practically in every room during the winter. We got this Honeywell unit as a cheap solution for a back guest bedroom.
Unfortunately, cheap is right. It just doesn't perform nearly as well as any other humidifier we've tried. It is noisy. Far noisier than anything else we have. The options of off high low means the thing blasts away without any idea of if it's doing a good job or not. The air could be just fine! Or it could be really dry and need the high setting. I highly recommend getting one where you set the humidity level you want and let it do the balancing. That way you're never wasting electricity or money.
The container is fairly small. So you'll have to refill it regularly to keep it operating. Also, the curved top handle makes it a bit troublesome to set into a sink to fill it up.
All in all, I just wouldn't go with this. There are SO many other options out there that are well worth having.
There is another model which has a UV light and is quiet that costs about $75-$80, but is actually rated high. If you can't afford that, might as well buy a vaporizer for $15.

It's important for a room to have the proper balance of humidity in it, for the humans, pets, and even plants that are in there. Too much humidity and the air feels moist and uncomfortable. Reviews of Grease Filter WB6X60 For GE Microwave
This is the Grease Filter specified for my Microwave/Rangehood. And it's about a 1/2" too wide. I had to fold one of the sides to get it to fit. It works good enough now, but obviously the longevity of it is now in question, plus it falls out every now and then.

Honeywell/Kaz Home Environme De-Mineralize Cartridge Dc Humidifier Review
This filter, works very well with the humidifier we have, but the instructions are not clear on everything you need to do to make it work well. It has to be soaked for 15mn and then thoroughly rinsed so that it works properly. If you do not rinse it,the humidifier shoots a not very pleasant yellowish mist that fills up the environment. Other than that, it has been a very good product.
For the first one that I used, it lasted me about 25 or so days (or in short, I noticed little in the way of gunk buildup during that duration of time) before I felt the need to change the cartridge. My second one lasted about the same amount of time as well.
I have to point out, it is very important that you soak the cartridge thoroughly before adding it to your humidifier. For me, after taking it out of the package, I soaked it in a bowl of cold water for about 15 20 minutes before taking it out for use and so far I've had no problems whatsoever.
If you want to save yourself some headaches, I strongly recommend using this product in conjunction with your humidifier.

If you have a humidifier, it would be unwise to pass up using a demineralization cartridge. It saves you the headache of nasty gunk and mold that builds up in your humidifier. The cartridge that came with the vicks humidifier only lasted about 10 fillings (they claim 30-40). I think it would be just as cost effective (and easier) to just buy distilled water to use in the humidifier, and skip the filter cartridge.Tuesday, December 10, 2013

These humidifier wicks work OK, but they do not put out the kind of humidity that the original replacements do... I ordered four, which will probably take me through the heating season, but find that I now have to run another humidifier in a remote part of my apartment to really do the job... Note: The item now pictured is not the ones you will get... The ones being shipped now have a blue fabric-like covering... Again, they are good, but not quite as good as the originals, which have a mesh covering... (m.)
The problem is the God-awful smell in the first few days. Just opening the box, with dry filters, is bracing. Once you get it wet and turn on the fan, stand by for stank. Really terrible smell for the first 24 hours, then bad for the next 24, then the smell seemed to fade.
There is no way this is worth it in exchange for saving a few bucks per filter. Go with a more expensive version...you get what you pay for in this case.
These last every bit as long as the name brand ones. The wear depends on how often you use it and whats in your water that you use. We have hard treated Missouri river water in the midwest and usually get 3-4 weeks out of one filter.
The only drawback is that they have a strange "new carpet" type smell to them . after a day or two of the humidifyer running you dont notice it but ....

These humidifier wicks work OK, but they do not put out the kind of humidity that the original replacements do... The low price was a decisive factor for me. I ordered six of these, thinking that would definitely get me through the winter. They look and work as advertised, although I can't really compare them to the factory filter since it has been several years since ours was used up and I don't recall the water consumption rate from back then. This filter resulted in using the whole tank in about 12 hours when running the fan on high in a very dry room, which seem reasonable. The problem is the God-awful smell in the first few days. I was having a hard time finding an affordable filter, since they get thrown away anyway. This worked fabulous for my humidifier unit. The filter was a bit too tall, but I cut it down to size and it works great! Will be purchasing more!Honest reviews on Holmes HWF64 Humidifier Replacement Filter
These filters do the job well for the price. Keep in mind they do not have the color changing strip of many of the more expensive types.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Holmes HWF64 Humidifier Replacement Filter
I used to wait until fall to cruise target and walmart for these filters. At the store you pay almost double per filter.
