Very solid in look and feel and works great! The box is tight and holds the humidity perfectly. I calibrated the analog hygrometer that came with the box and it was only off by a percentage point. But since I'm a techy person (and a little picky) I added a digital hygrometer and calibrated that one as well. After seasoning the box for a week (bit longer than necessary), the box has held the humidity within a few points of 70%, naturally it dropped a bit when I put 25 cigars in that had not been in a real humidor but within a day or so it was back to 69 71% humidity. It's been about a month now, I've smoked a few of those cigars and I have to say they actually taste and smoke better than when I bought them from the cigar shop in town.

It is made to hold up to 100 sticks but if you only want to use it for 50 or so it is perfect because they will have room to breathe (IMO). My wife and I both thought it was huge when we got it but after a week or so it didn't seem so big and it looks great sitting on a small table in the living room over by the wall, looks like it belongs there.

Love the glass top, I can display the Cubans on top for all to see :-)

The humidor itself is fine, but the spring-based hygrometer is useless and cannot be calibrated. It just reads 40% RH all the time for me.

I wish this humidor was available without a hygrometer. I have to put something in just to fill in the front. I have a Caliber III internal hygrometer. I guess I'll have to get an Adorini hair hygrometer to fill in the front.

I bought this for my hubby at Christmas and it it turned out to be a great gift! The cedar smell is very strong (smelled up my walk in closet), the hygrometer has worked thus far, and the lock works. He also likes that he can just gaze at his cigars w/o opening it. It is very easy to season and keep the right humidity using the boveda packs (you need 4 for this size humidor). There were no instructions but it wasn't hard to figure out what goes where.

We've been very happy with this humidifier. The cool mist is very fine, so it feels more "misty" and less "damp" or "rainy" than some other humidifiers we've tried. The controls over how much or little mist it produces are effective, and it's very quiet. Although this product is a little more expensive than some other types of humidifiers, it's worth it. I know several people whose babies have been burned by warm mist humdifiers, and they also tend to breed bacteria, neither of which is a concern with this product. Also although we originally bought a cheaper humidifier, it turned out not to be as inexpensive as we first thought because we kept having to replace the wick and it quickly broke. This humidifier doesn't have "hidden costs" and is sturdy and well made.

Also if you take off the lid and watch what it does to produce the mist, it's really cool (not a reason to buy the product in itself, but interesting ....)

Our son gets asthma and croup from colds, so having a good humidifier was essential to keep his airway open. This was our third and final humidifier. After wasting our money on cheapo humidifiers that stopped working after a couple months, and that were awkward to fill and transport without spilling and to assemble correctly to get going, this humidifer worked like a charm. Sometimes there is a slight medicinal smell in the room in the morning, but it's not overwhelming, or that different from any other humidifier. We have had this humidifier for two years now and with proper maintenance it still runs like the day we bought it.

We tried 3 humidifiers for our baby, and this was the best. It's quiet, and the tank is big. You can get two night's use out of a single filling. I also like being able to control the amount and direction of the water vapor. The only downside is having to clean the tank and base on a regular basis (a small price to pay when your baby has cold).

As devotees of ultrasonic humidifiers, we snapped up 3 of these units to compete with the forced-air heat. There is a lot to like: large capacity tank, very quiet, fine mist. Unfortunately, I think there is some type of engineering problem with either the ultrasonic transducer or the water-level sensing circuit. We have sent two back for replacement, because they simply quit working -regardless of the cleaning and demineralizing routine. One replacement failed after two uses. One of the remaining three is now becoming erratic, and the ultrasonic transducer is delaminating. The water demineralizing cartridges are a great idea, and work pretty well, but be aware that they don't prevent all of the mineral dust. Still, use them.

So in short, these units are a great idea, but they need some better ruggedizing. My Holmes ultrasonic is 10 years old and still runs fine. You're lucky to get 10 months from these.

Like some of the other people reviewing this item, ours developed a bad odor after a month of use. I have cleaned the thing thoroughly according to the instructions, but it still smells bad. I cannot find the replacement filter anywhere. It's very good at producing mist, but the room gets saturated with the odor. It's the last time I'll buy a Vicks product.

I've used a few different types of humidifiers over the past couple years, and my favorite so far has been a warm mist/vapor humidifier, like the simple boiling water kind you get from Vicks. Those humidifiers put out a lot of humidity, they're easy to refill, and they don't make everything in a room get a white powdery coating.

Ultrasonic/cool mist humidifiers often make a white powder coating appear on some surfaces if you have hard water (like I do), but they are quieter (no boiling or fans), they don't raise the ambient temperature, and the mist can be directed via the vent at the top. They also don't use filters, so there is no maintenance or extras you have to purchase other than a simple weekly (at least) cleaning.

This humidifier has simple controls (on/off switch on the back, mist level knob on the front), and a neat little port on the top that you can direct in two different spots. I usually just keep both vents pointed in the same direction.

Refilling is easy; just grab the translucent top part, turn it upside-down, unscrew the drain plug, and fill in a standard-size sink.

If I set the level to low/medium, I can use the humidifier up to a full day or so before a refill. If set on high, it only seems to last about 8-10 hours. Also, the humidifier shuts itself off if it senses no more water.

RECOMMENDATION: If you need a simple cool mist humidifier, like one for a baby's room, this is a great option--especially if you only need to have it on for a small part of the day (otherwise you'll be refilling it a lot).

TIP FOR LONGEVITY: Make sure you follow the included cleaning instructions, especially with regard to cleaning mineral buildup every week. If you don't this humidifier will probably only last a year or less (especially if you have hard water at your home, and don't use distilled water to humidify the air). If you clean it weekly, expect years of use.

Very quiet (few bubble sounds occasionally) but very quiet. Puts out a ton of cool mist on high. If it's placed close to your bed, low works plenty. Nice to know you can always crank it up. (fog you out of a medium size room by morning). Easy to fill and clean. Very simple to use. Not sure how long it will last...had it for about a month, and run it pretty steady at night. For the price..it's hard to beat !!

I got this unit to monitor humidity inside an enclosure in a laboratory. It works quite well for this purpose and the humidifier control functions as advertised to allow some active control. From a cost standpoint, the unit is a real bargain even if it is only used as a 2-point humidity meter. The only drawback to the unit I received was that there is a 4 degree F temperature offset in the readings (it reads low). Since the unit has a temperature offset adjustment, it is straightforward to correct this error in the unit. Nonetheless, I would not expect a unit like this to exhibit an error of this magnitude out of the box.

My whole house humidifier was setup to work only during the heating season in conjunction with the furnace. I live in Colorado where the humidity even in the summer is very low. This controller allows the humidifier to work independently from the furnace (still using the same ventilation system) and keep the humidity level in the house comfortable year around. The outside thermometer/hygrometer module makes the device smart enough that you do not need to change the humidity setting by hand for temperature changes outside (to prevent condensation issues). Installation and programming took me about 2 hrs.

I bought this to replace the controller on my LifeBreath 200Max HRV so I would have more control. The information provided was not enough to make the connection to the HRV since I do not have it also connected to my furnace or a humidifier. I called Honeywell and they refused to give any assistance. So if you do not know exactly how to wire this don't buy it.

This was a direct replacement filter for my Cool Mist Humidifier. I'm not a big fan of the way this humidifier works, as this filter wicks the water up and the fan blows air through the filter to create saturated air. This leads to the filter constantly being wet, and therefore, being a haven for mold, mildew, and whatever else likes to grow in cool, dark, wet atmospheres. However, this filter is a perfect replacement for the unit, and I give it 5 stars, because it's not the filter's fault that it has to be replaced all the time.

I bought this at Costco, and I ran this the first night on my bedroom floor, which is carpeted. I left it running on low and I woke up to find my carpet wet in the path of the cool mist. The next night, I ran it on the top of my dresser, about 4 feet up, and that was high enough to prevent the mist from hitting the floor directly. Seems to be working well for me. Emits a fine visible cool mist. When running on the low setting overnight, it uses about half the tank, so I'm refilling the tank every other night.

Love It !!!!! Have had it now for about 3 months and ended up getting another one for my daughters room. No filter , uses tap water its perfect. It does shut off sometimes if it thinks the humidity is at the level set but you can put it at stay on all the time and its fine. I bought and returned 3 others before i finally found this one !!! I dont keep it on floor (as it says not to) and have no water leaking problems .

updateshould mention there is a light on front which some may find bothersome.I sleep with a mask on so it doesnt bother me. Its not real bright but if you like total dark it may bother you.You can always put a washcloth in front of it to block it .

I bought this Bionaire Cool Mist Humidifier at Costco and immediately was impressed. I have purchased so called "quiet" humidifiers in the past but they still rattled and made noise. This was a good buy for us. We live in Wisconsin and have a woodburning stove in our house. The kettle makes a noticeable difference and makes the air less dry. It also looks nice because it matches our black stove.

I guess the inside is not treated because it rusts pretty badly. The outside, however, stays nice and black. Also, it is pretty heavy to move so we have been taking a cup of water TO the stove to fill the kettle, instead of bringing the kettle to the sink.

Like other reviews I experienced rust boiling water as instructed. Had to season it myself -not sure it was ever seasoned. Made in china. Don't trust the production standards there. Could have been painted for all I know. Good for use as a decorator item and humidity source with a wood burning stove. However, it will rust if used as a humidity source. I won't drink anything from it.

The top closes properly and holds humidity levels perfectly. The design and eye appeal are amazing, and give this humidor the look of a much more expensive product. I have had this humidor for over a year now and it is great. I love the glass top. it comes with 2 dividers for the bottom and 1 for the top tray. You can stack the top tray 3 deep pretty easy and the bottom 3-4 deep as well.The setup that it comes with is pretty akward as the humidifier is huge and takes up valuable cigar space. I tossed that and went with a jar of crystals and it holds right a 70. I recommend using the salt method to calibrate the gauge as it was a little off, but after adjusting it was all good. 75-100 capacity is pretty accurate with my setup, but as is subtract 10-20. I have about 100 in mine now. I seasoned mine with distilled water in a shot glass as opposed to wiping the inside. My buddies who wiped their other humidors had trouble with theirs.

I bought 2 of these, one for my adult son who has asthma and one for myself because I was just diagnosed with allergies to airborne allergens including dust mites. My allergist told me to get a hepa filter, which this appeared to be. Unfortunately companies can write hepa on the description without it being a true hepa filter, Too late I've discovered that it should specify that it cleans up to .3 microns and captures at least 99.97 percent of airborne particles. I'm keeping them for 2 reasons. We destroyed the boxes and we have already used them for several weeks. They are very quiet, but wouldn't say they are very effective for dust mite allergies. In the meantime I have ordered 2 purifiers that use real hepa filters. Do your homework before you buy for allergy relief.

Been using this humidfier many years, still works great, decided to try an aftermarket wick (after using the OEM wick all those years) and save a few bucks.

While adequaten this wick only disperses about 50% of the water that the OEM wick did.

Next fall I'll go back to the OEM wick.

Had it for 5 months now ,works well,drys out the bathroom without overheating the room. Very noisy but ,run it during the day and it fills up nicely. The auto shut off works well also. Emptying it is a pain,that should have been engineered better. Then you have to slam it back in to put it back. I like the smaller size since these things are really heavy,but this wheels nicely into my other spaces if needed. My girl left her sunroof open one year and soaked her seats and when I bought this I wanted something I could pick up and dry out a car if needed! Hope that never happens again!This model was the newer one .Paid 189 5 months ago. Let it sit upright before turning it on. Very pleased so far.

The 41-year-old Westinghouse dehumidifier in my basement finally gave up the ghost early this summer. Because it was already very humid, I was desperate to get a new one ASAP. Apparently, so was everyone else in New England because I couldn't find a good one in the stores. Most had already sold out and the few that were left were brands with bad reputations for recalls, overheating, etc.

Based on reviews and word of mouth, I really wanted a Frigidaire. I should have ordered one online right away instead of trying to find one locally. Fortunately, I only had to wait a few days after I ordered, and it was worth the wait.

I put the Frigidaire on a sturdy table and hooked up a short hose to the outlet on the back of the unit. I put the other end of the hose in a nearby washtub and didn't have to wait very long for water to start trickling out of the hose.

Before I ordered the Frigidaire, I had tried another type of dehumidifier that uses thermoelectric/Peltier technology. The most moisture it could collect was two ounces in eight hours. I knew that wasn't enough, especially for what I had paid for it. In contrast, on a really humid day, the Frigidaire can collect a few ounces in just an hour. And since it's going into the sink, I don't ever have to empty a bucket.

As for the noise it may depend on your point of reference. My 41-year-old Westinghouse was quieter, but it was also less efficient and less powerful. On the other hand, all of my air conditioners are window units, and they're louder than the dehumidifier, especially when the compressor in the air conditioner cycles on and off. I WISH they sounded like the dehumidifier.

At least the quality of the sound coming from this dehumidifier isn't annoying. It's not high-pitched and it doesn't rattle. It's more like a steady hum.

What surprised me more is the exhaust. For all I know, maybe this is typical of modern dehumidifiers: it blows out of the top, creates a fairly stiff breeze, and it's warm. (Maybe it's only warm when the basement is warm. I don't know.) I don't remember the Westinghouse doing that. There was some exhaust, but it blew straight out the back and wasn't as noticeable. This is definitely noticeable. It's not a problem, but I wouldn't want to keep it around loose papers or flimsy window-curtains.

I bought this unit for my Mother's basement because I really like the Frigidaire 50 pint I bought for my home about 2 years ago.

Both remove moisture well. The "older" design, however was better: the fan shoots the air out the side, which circulated the air into the far corners of the basement. This "newer" design blows the air upward, which I don't care for. I sometimes wonder if the people who design things actually use them because some of the changes make no sense to me.

Still, this unit works well to remove moisture. Although it's not quiet, due to the powerful fan, I don't need quiet for the basement.

This unit replaces an LG piece of junk bought thru Sears in '04.

Another nice feature, this Frigidaire does not ice up in the cold basement, like the LG did.

The unit works very well. Storage building went from 90% humidity to 40% in less than 24 hours. Goodbye mold.
