I got this unit to monitor humidity inside an enclosure in a laboratory. It works quite well for this purpose and the humidifier control functions as advertised to allow some active control. From a cost standpoint, the unit is a real bargain even if it is only used as a 2-point humidity meter. The only drawback to the unit I received was that there is a 4 degree F temperature offset in the readings (it reads low). Since the unit has a temperature offset adjustment, it is straightforward to correct this error in the unit. Nonetheless, I would not expect a unit like this to exhibit an error of this magnitude out of the box.

My whole house humidifier was setup to work only during the heating season in conjunction with the furnace. I live in Colorado where the humidity even in the summer is very low. This controller allows the humidifier to work independently from the furnace (still using the same ventilation system) and keep the humidity level in the house comfortable year around. The outside thermometer/hygrometer module makes the device smart enough that you do not need to change the humidity setting by hand for temperature changes outside (to prevent condensation issues). Installation and programming took me about 2 hrs.

This unit maxes out at 40% on humidify.

You are not able to program it any higher.

If you want humidity levels higher, those are not attainable.

Honest reviews on Honeywell DG115EZIAQ TrueIAQ Digital IAQ Control

Very easy to set up and use, very accurate control of the humidity levels and also has an excellent program that eliminates window condensation in very cold weather. Worth every dime!

I bought this to replace the controller on my LifeBreath 200Max HRV so I would have more control. The information provided was not enough to make the connection to the HRV since I do not have it also connected to my furnace or a humidifier. I called Honeywell and they refused to give any assistance. So if you do not know exactly how to wire this don't buy it.

We bought the Honeywell HCM-6013i cool mist humidifier to replace a GermGuardin humidifier that stopped working after 90 days of use. So far, this unit is performing quite well.

According to the specification in the owner's manual, this unit is capable of outputting 11 gallons per day (I'm assuming per 24 hours). Do not confuse this with the unit's water holding capacity. In two separate tanks, the humidifier holds about a total of 3.5 gallons of water. And you will not notice any humidifying mist as you might with other types of humidifier. This humidifier works by the same principle as a swamp cooler.

I usually have the fan speed on low and the humidity level set on auto at 35%. At these settings, I have to fill the water tanks every one and a half day or so. The HCM-6013i built-in hygrometer (humidity sensor) is no where near accurate. Although I have the unit set on 35%, actual humidity measured by a separate and more accurate hygrometer, measures 45%. I recommend buying a separate hygrometer so that you can find the right humidity level. If you're not as picky as I am, you can always go by feel and adjust the humidity control up or down until you find your comfort level, to where the unit turn on or off based on the setting.

This unit fits together from essentially four pieces; the base, the motor housing, and the two water tanks. The pieces do not exactly fit together that well. The design of this unit reminds me of something that was made from the former USSR. It's clunky...but it works. It has no problem keeping up the desired humidity level when the AC is on and the outside relative humidity is 10% 15%. It draws water from one of the two tanks at a time. When either one of the water tank is drained the unit makes a buzzing noise from the empty lighter tank. It's a little annoying, but a little tab or jolt usually resolves this buzzing noise.

I recommend buying a spare HC-14 replacement filter for this unit. I already notice that within a day if not hours of use the water-wicking filter mentioned was turning a little brown on the top. I don't know if the browning of the filter is due to using tap water for the humidifier or the air in my condo is that dirty. I hope it's the former rather than the latter.

The manual states that using tap water is OK because the water-wicking filter will absorb and retain the minerals in tap water, while the Protec water cleaning cartridge will help fight bacteria and other microbes in the water.

As mentioned above. This humidifier works about the same way as a swamp cooler. In a dry and warm environment, this humidifier does put out a noticeably cool breeze.

This product also boasts of having an "Air Washing Technology", and an independently controlled air ionizer. I can't comment too much about these features because I can't attest to how well they work. Again some swamp coolers can also claim of being able to wash the air as they cool...right? My gut feeling tells me that these features are a bit gimmicky. Does it really "clean" the air in my condo? Maybe. Does the air in my condo really need cleaning? Sometimes.

The unit seems to do a reasonable job at humidifying a 1300 square feet apartment. The tanks are easy to fill, and the controls are easy to operate.

As another reviewer noted, the parts were not designed to fit snuggly, so the unit will occasionally start rattling very loudly. Shifting one of the tanks will usually solve that for a few hours or more, but it's no fun when it wakes you up at night to do that. Otherwise, the device is reasonably quiet, especially on the lower fan settings.

The most surprising thing about this humidifier is the lack of a tank-empty indicator. This unit has a total of 10 LED indicators on the top, including five just to show the selected humidity level. It does have a float which cuts power to the fan when the tanks are empty, but no indication of that is given. The only way to figure out when you need to refill it is if you use the ionizer function: if you do that, you'll notice the blue indicator for the ionizer is lit but the fan is silent; that only happens when the tanks are empty. Yes, figuring out when to fill the tanks requires subtle detective work.

Considering most humidifiers costing half as much have a tank-empty indicator, it amazes me the manufacturer chose to save a few cents by eliminating this critical feature.

January 2010 update: Due to the poor fit of the parts, one of the two tanks doesn't latch into the water valve, and so it doesn't empty unless the other tank is removed. This makes the unit effectively an oversized 5.5 gallon one, instead of 11 gallon.

I just put the unit in service 12 hrs ago and it performs as advertised. I have had other humidifiers so using this one and setting it up was not an issue for me, nor did I have any expectations outside of an improved comfort level in the treated area. The design is simple and some may say somewhat crude but it simply is not a highly designed piece of technology---it's a humidifier and effectively raises the moisture level in the air. My home was so dry 19% RH with an outside temp of 12 F. It has been so cold and dry the last few days that my skin has actually been itching. On a high fan speed the unit went through both tanks of water in about 8-9 hrs which is consistant with the advertised spec of 11 gals/ 24 hrs. Again, the air was very dry and before running out of water I achieved a RH of 38% up from 19%. It will take a few days to get the area (1700 sq ft) to a comfortable RH of 45%. I would expect at that point the water usage and or need to refill the tanks will decrease as the humidity level increases--(moisture output should slow down regardless of fan speed as the moisture/humidity in the room air increases--I think). On the high fan speed the unit is a bit noisy and you probably would not want it in a bedroom at night--med and low fan speeds provide a reduction in the air noise--on low the unit will /can be tolerated in a bedroom and should not disturb sleep. The only other sound of note is an occasional water gurgle as the water leaves the tank and enters the reservoir. I haven't noticed any rattles that other reviews have mentioned though there could have been some rubber cushions placed in a couple of areas during production which would have eliminated the occasional plastic on plastic rattle---easily remedied by placing a thin piece of foam packing, paper towel, napkin, or material in between the tanks and the motor housing---simple but again something that should be part of the production process. The lack of a water level gauge or simple sight window that allows you to see in the tank would be helpful but after a few days of use you will become familiar enough with the unit and develop a feel for when the tanks need to be refilled based on your use preferences/settings.

NOTE: This review would also apply to model #'s 6009,6011, and 6012. All these models are basically the same with the exception of minor control differences--(knobs/digital led indicators).

I generally like this product. It does what it says it will do, which is to generate mist. It is not noisy, but it is not quiet either, as is claimed. It emits a high-pitched whine which my co-workers in adjacent cubes can hear, though they say they can tune it out. I probably will not use it at work, since I don't want to irritate anybody.

I live in a 10'*10' room which is quite small. But this humidifier has no effect on making the air of my room wet but it did make the table which I placed it very wet! And I filled it with purified water but it ran out of water in 2 hours! Maybe suitable for car I think.

I've used this product for over 5 years I am on my 3rd one as the other reviews have stated it does have its flaws but with my allergy to chemicals it helps alleviate a great deal of the discomfort when someone uses strong perfumes or plug ins, dry heat or stuffiness etc. Have used in my office/cubicles and would strongly recommend if you have this condition. Just wish it was more durable but for the money it helps me tremendously.

Honest reviews on Windchaser MH-1 Personal Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier

I bought this for work to use on my desk (which essentially it's made for). The first day it worked great, but then by the second day it stopped working. I did what it said and cleaned out the container, changed the filter and adjusted the filter casing and it would work again for about 10 minutes. It's cheaply made and not a good buy. ;-(

At first I thought this product was great, but I quickly realized that the tiny size of the humidifier is not enough to do any good. I cannot see any feasible area where the small amount of humidity that it puts out would be sufficient. Not even in a car.

This thing melted away within a few days. I only figured it out when I was in the room with the furnace and there was water all over the floor. Because the humidifier filter had essentially melted, the water was not draining down the tube as it should. Instead it was running down the side of the duct work. Will not buy this again.

Kaz PersonalMist Ultrasonic Humidifier Review

Kaz PersonalMist Ultrasonic Humidifier
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I have an identical humidifier from Kaz that we like a lot. I should have known the price wouldn't be as low for the same unit. It really is a PERSONAL humidifier. It's quiet, it's effective but it should only be used in a very small room. Fortunately we were able to swap the larger one into the master bedroom and this personal size works fine for a 10x10 room. As with its larger version, the mist is pretty intense and creates a damp carpet from the mist projection and that's on the lowest setting. We use it to offset the winter's dry air and really like the lack of mold-growing filters and the fact that it's extremely quiet. Compared to the standard cold-mist humidifier with a filter system, this is a much better alternative.

This is a wonderful item. We have tried every kind of humidifier from tabletop ones to the HUGE multi-tank "whole house" type that have 2-4 large tanks and roll around on wheels. My main problem was that I was the only one strong enough to fill and carry the tanks, so I was on permanemt "water carrier" duty. For the huge ones on wheels I hooked up a hose to the faucet and dragged it to the humidifier to fill it. What a pain! This Kaz personal is by far the best choice.

It does have a small tank, but it's so light that my elderly mother or the kids can fill and carry the tank themselves. It's also cheap enough to put one in every room. And it's great for travel; just pop it in your luggage and use it in hotels or wherever. We have 1 in each bedroom, and in the living room, kitchen and office. They last almost 2 years then it will just stop steaming. The larger, more pricey ones last about the same amount of time but are way more expensive to replace. On low setting it will go almost 10 hours so the size really isn't an inconvenience.

Kaz used to change the style every year, but hopefully they'll stick with this one. The first Kaz Personal took a 1 Liter plastic bottle instead of a tank. A great idea, but the thinness of the bottle you use affected the steam; too thin walls and the water would run out, too thick and nothing happened. I found myself in supermarkets squeezing bottles as if I was picking a ripe melon. Now the Kaz Personal has its own small tank and it is absolutely the best!

Best Deals for Kaz PersonalMist Ultrasonic Humidifier

This is the best humidifier I have ever found! I have two of them going almost constantly in the winter months. It refills easily and has no filter. It is quiet and has no annoying light to keep me awake. It goes for many hours. The only drawback might be if you wanted to add something to the water. You use plain tap water. Excellent!

Honest reviews on Kaz PersonalMist Ultrasonic Humidifier

First, let me say all humidifiers need to be cleaned regularly, if not daily. The Kaz personal mist humidifier works well, is easy to clean, and I've had it for over a yearAMAMAZING. I only use mine at night and it lasts 8-9 hours on the low mist setting (just don't forget to turn it off in the morning).

TIPS:

1. If you let water sit for a while, your mist output is going to be greatly diminished. Instructions tell you not to use soap; however, when output is low I have used soap and hot water (don't submerge the base INTO water, and rinse very, very thoroughly) with fantastic, like-new results.

2. A cotton q-tip is PERFECT for cleaning the two metal parts at the bottom (cleaning them is necessary to keep it working, and it takes 3 seconds).

3. Use fresh water every time, but before you fill it up for the day/night, fill it a 1/3 of the way with hot water and shakethis cleans it and slows any bacterial growth. Never Run The Humidifier With Hot Water.

Hope this helpsI love it because it works, has worked for a while, and it was cheap =)

I have been using these units for a long time....trouble is, I'm on my third one! They are great for travel because their footprint is small, it has good output and they work great for a hotel room, but they don't last but about 18 months or so. Just long enough so they are out of warranty! They are getting harder and harder to find. I have also tried the Sunbeam portable one,(little output)and the Sharper Image portable one (output was the worst of all). The Kaz will work for you if you use it just occasionally, but it you can get a longer warranty on another portable unit, go elsewhere. I haven't found one. Would I buy this unit again?...yes. Do I wish one was made with a lifetime or at least a three year warranty?...yes

Love everything about the way this Humidifier works. Very fine mist. Extremely quiet. If I were to change anything about this humidifier, it would have a way to fill the water chamber from the top. It is a little bit of a pain to have to take the tank off, turn it upside down before getting it too far away from the unit so you don't drip water all over the floor or furniture, find a sink deep enough to be able to fill it to the top, then haul the now heavy reservoir back to the base unit, then flipping it back over the unit to install back on the base. It would be so much easier to have a top fill and just bring the pitcher of water to the unit.

I have had quite a few cheaper ultrasonic humidifiers, and there's no comparison. The mist particles are so fine that they bounce off my hand, and my hand stays dry (slight dampness to the hand when on high). This means I have no problems with condensate sequestering on the things directly around the humidifier.

I've had ZERO issues with any mildew or bacterial films building up in the chamber(s). It really is clean.

The night light is retro... very different, and just plain KEWL! I rarely use it, though.

Having the warm mist option is nice for winter use.

It's definitely a work horse, but I still find I don't need to fill the reservoir nearly as often as other humidifiers.

I live in a very arid, dry, climate, and this machine has been the best! I get nose bleeds when things are too dry, but with this humidifier... nada.

The 3 year warranty is nice too... I've never had cheaper ones last more than a year or two before.

I wanted a humidifier for a large nursery that was quiet, good quality and didn't require filling often. This fit the bill perfectly. It keeps a large nursery humid for what we want when run on low and it has adjustable settings to humidify much more quickly. I didn't give it 5 stars because it has a power usage indicator 1 light for low power usage, 2 lights for high power usage and no matter what I do, it always shows 2 lights (which is not a problem from a power usage point of view (I hope!), but just that this feature doesn't seem to work). I would recommend this.

Honest reviews on pureguardian H2500 100-Hour Ultrasonic Humidifier with Night Light

This humidifier works just as people talked about in the other reviews. I had no problem with leaks. I can see where you would want to force the seal for the tank but that is not necessary. Just screw it on like a normal person and it does it's job quite well. I'm using this for my mom who is going through chemotherapy. I have it turned up quite a ways so I don't get the amount of duration as some of the other people have described. But I definitely get well over 30 hours out of one tank. The controls are simplistic and the entire look of the humidifier is quite attractive. I would definitely recommend this to any of my friends.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for pureguardian H2500 100-Hour Ultrasonic Humidifier with Night Light

This humidifier works fine, and it looks nice compared with a lot of other humidifiers. I gave it four stars instead of five for two reasons. One, it is awkward to refill, and that is not specific to this brand, many or I could say all humidifiers I have used are cumbersome to refill the tank. (I have used at least 6 different types of humidifiers in my house over the years.) This one has a curved side that is on the bottom when you fill it, so not only is it hard to hold, but it is unstable and has a tendency to roll around as the water splashes inside. I wonder why no one can design a unit that is easy to use?? It is frustrating. Two, and this is partly my ignorance, the mist can make the area around the humidifier wet. I assume this is because it is not actual steam. My "scientific" explanation is that because the water vibrates up due to the the ultrasonic sound waves, it is colder and denser than humidifiers that use heat or wicking filters, so if the room is not dry and warm enough, the water falls to the floor and you can have a wet carpet or wet furniture. The fix is to turn down the setting and that solves the problem but, to me, it humidifies the room less than other types and I feel a bit "dryer" than I did with a wicking humidifier or a heat based humidifier. The warm setting is not actually very warm; the unit feels warm but the mist is cool.

However, it is very quiet, well at least I can't hear the ultrasonic sound! And the water vapor immediately comes floating out the top when you fill it, no waiting. I am using this in a room that is about 20 x 20 and I should have gotten the larger capacity because I am filling it every day. I have hot air heat so the room is very dry in the winter. Not sure what they mean when they say 100 hours. I would suggest getting the biggest one you can handle, taking into consideration that it will be heavy and unsteady when you refill it. It certainly will be the nicest looking humidifier around and will be quiet.

This dehumidifier works quite well in small spaces (as designed). I've been using it in a larger bedroom with significant reduction in the humidity. Noise level is less than a window ac unit. There are no frills. Just on or off. Good product overall.

I bought this dehumidifier yesterday and in less than 12 hours it has collected about an inch of water. I used before products that use some crystal balls to absorbed water and these crystal balls get dissolved so you don't know how much is water and how much is the crystal balls. With this product I know this water is all from the room. It is pretty quiet and the price is not bad at all. I am planning on buying additional ones for the other rooms in the house since I live in a very humid city in Cartagena, Colombia.

Best Deals for Bionaire BDQ01-UC Mini Dehumidifier

I bought this dehumidifier for my small bathroom. I live in upstate NY and the summers can be very humid. I've had this unit for a few weeks and the humidity has been moderate. Thus far, it has pulled some water out of the air not a tidal wave, but enough so that I notice the difference. In fact, I hand washed some clothes yesterday and hung them over the shower curtain rod to dry usually this process would not be complete for at least 1/2 day, but within 3 hours, my clothes were dry! I was impressed.

The unit is bare bones just off and on. It's nice to look at and is reasonably quiet the sound of the toilet tank refilling after a flush is enough to drown out the sound. As another review noted, the cord is long, but it has this transformer thing about 1/2 way, which is annoying, but not enough so for me to give send it back. The maximum capacity is about 300 ml (just over a cup) in 24 hours, and the "bucket" holds 2 or 3 times that, so it will probably take a week or more to fill up at the rate it pulls humidity out of the air.

So if you're looking for a mini dehumidifier, for a mini space, at a mini price, this one is a good choice. I have a large dehumidifier in my basement, and that serves a very different purpose and dries out a much larger and more humid space. This small unit just makes my bathroom feeling less humid in the summer, so that when I come out of the shower, I'm not hit with heavy humid air. I think that it would probably work well in a closet too, but certainly not in a larger space.

I'm very happy with my purchase!

Honest reviews on Bionaire BDQ01-UC Mini Dehumidifier

Between 55 and 62% humidity, it took six weeks for this tiny thing to fill. What really chaps my hide is that the power converter in the middle of the cord measures about 3"x4.5"x7", which totally negates the compactness of the unit for me, and pretty much defeats the purpose of the long cord. It's two units to think about when placing it it in the tight spaces for which it's purposed. In short, it's ineffective, and much bigger than I expected.

I bought this for a small bathroom that's exposed to the outside through a venting pipe through the roof but otherwise has no ventilation in response to a buildup of mold. Since cleaning the bathroom (again) and turning on this dehumidifier after each shower, the mold has finally stopped returning.

I just got mine today but so far so good. It works great (emits more mist than I thought it would)and blends right in (we are not allowed humidifiers so I have to be sneaky). It's not like a full room humidifier, but for something that's in your workspace (ie 3 feet from my face) it's good. I can't hear any noise and it just looks like I have some VERY steamy coffee! I can't speak for its longevity but today I'm happy. Also I had no problem with the desk being wet as another commenter said. It does not make the surrounding area damp.

UPDATE: I accidentally left it on when I left work overnight and I was sure it was going to be broken (if not burn down the building). Turns out it was fine, I added more water and it started working immediately. Good to know.

UPDATE (1/25/13): I just started using the unit again this winter and after one day, something in the top has moved inside so that it will only work if you really press and hold the power cord in. Too bad, I loved this little thing but it barely works so now I'll have to replace it (not with another one like this, as I want something that will last more than one winter).

Ok, I'm assuming the other reviewer submerged his/her humidifier underwater because mine works fine. It's cute, small and works like it should. then about a month later, it stopped working.

so i tweaked the chord around and started working again

and then the chord started to smell like it was burning..

so i got worried and stopped using for a few days.

then i tried to use it again but the mist was very very weak when i move around the chords

and when i wake up, it wasnt working at all.

so i got to use it for about a month and that was it..

so, to be honest..i wouldnt recommend this for a long run

Purchased this for our infant son. We desired both a warm and cool mist option and this allowed us to not purchase two products. The water tank is fairly large and only needs to be refilled once ever 3 days. We run this all night in his nursery so approx. 11 hours at a time. The unit is very quiet and it creates an excellent amount of humidity so much that we have to leave the door partially open or the room becomes steamy. It's a little pricy for a humidifier but we are pleased with the product. It also contains a night light which we do not use as it is too bright for our liking.

We are so pleased with the amount of water this humidifier puts into the air as well as the quiet. We have tried using a crockpot (not enough)as well as a cheap humidifier (noisy). Excellent product and worth every penny!

Honest reviews on Pure Guardian H1500 Ultrasonic Midsize Manual Humidifier

I'm surprised about the negative reviews. I have had mine for almost 6 months and run it every night. I have done nothing to it yet, except to add water every night ( I should clean it). No white dust neither.

I purchased two of these humidifiers about a year ago. I run them each every night and they both work well. Humidifier is quiet and produces a good amount of mist for a bedroom. The difference in the room with and without the humidifier is easily notable. Tank is large enough to easily run the humidifier for 12 hours.
