Very solid in look and feel and works great! The box is tight and holds the humidity perfectly. I calibrated the analog hygrometer that came with the box and it was only off by a percentage point. But since I'm a techy person (and a little picky) I added a digital hygrometer and calibrated that one as well. After seasoning the box for a week (bit longer than necessary), the box has held the humidity within a few points of 70%, naturally it dropped a bit when I put 25 cigars in that had not been in a real humidor but within a day or so it was back to 69 71% humidity. It's been about a month now, I've smoked a few of those cigars and I have to say they actually taste and smoke better than when I bought them from the cigar shop in town.

It is made to hold up to 100 sticks but if you only want to use it for 50 or so it is perfect because they will have room to breathe (IMO). My wife and I both thought it was huge when we got it but after a week or so it didn't seem so big and it looks great sitting on a small table in the living room over by the wall, looks like it belongs there.

Love the glass top, I can display the Cubans on top for all to see :-)

This product is great. After seeing the prices that local cigar shops wanted for much smaller humidors (at least twice as much as this one cost) this look like a great deal at $45. Works great no complaints

For this humidor to be at this price was increadible! i shopped around and this same model i saw priced all the way up to $110.00! it came in perfect condition. in the process of humidifying it. very beautiful wonderful seal to keep the humidity in. very happy with what i purchased! the humidifying process seems to be going very well, make sure you have the right stuff to do it right!

Honest reviews on 100-cigar Bally Glass Top Humidor

The humidor itself is fine, but the spring-based hygrometer is useless and cannot be calibrated. It just reads 40% RH all the time for me.

I wish this humidor was available without a hygrometer. I have to put something in just to fill in the front. I have a Caliber III internal hygrometer. I guess I'll have to get an Adorini hair hygrometer to fill in the front.

I bought this for my hubby at Christmas and it it turned out to be a great gift! The cedar smell is very strong (smelled up my walk in closet), the hygrometer has worked thus far, and the lock works. He also likes that he can just gaze at his cigars w/o opening it. It is very easy to season and keep the right humidity using the boveda packs (you need 4 for this size humidor). There were no instructions but it wasn't hard to figure out what goes where.

Purchased this item from the same vendor two years in a row and could not be happier. The item arrived packed in what I describe in "green" packing materials (shredded publication materials newsprint, magazines etc.) I am on board with the way this item was packaged but my curiosity was piqued when I grabbed filter box located inside the packing materials. At first I thought to myself "no shrink wrap on a MERV-11 filter box?" So I decided since it was a new filter what could be the harm. I proceeded to change the filter in my HVAC system and when I un-boxed the new filter (after I discarded the "full" old filter) I suddenly realized that the new filter was covered in shredded paper "dust" some very large pieces and many many small pieces. Before I knew it I was vacuuming the new filter to "clean" it before installing it into my HVAC system. It was at that point I said to myself "Hmmm vacuuming a $30 new filter before installation, why am I doing this exactly?" But, in the heat of the summer I need the HVAC system so there was no turning back. So the filter itself from a performance based rating gets a 5 star rating from me. The over-all experience for me on this purchase 2 stars.

I don't have any complaints about this filter. It seems to be doing it's job. I wish it was bit cheaper.

This filter costs less than from the OEM item through the dealer, and is of equal quality or better. We have 3 SEER 18 heat pumps with back-up gas furnaces, and they are checked every 6 months at semi-annual maintenance visits by the dealer. They last about18 to 24 months, and are superior to most other systems for keeping the house largely dust-free.

My 2nd humidifier purchase this week (the first being a dud and different model other review up shortly) I'm very happy with this unit. It did cost more than the other model, but this one works great! I needed it for my bedroom, plugged it in filled it up and an hour later the room felt great. I like the front fill, so no reservoir to take to the sink, lug back and try to flip in without spilling water.

I noticed a difference the first night using this unit. The wick filters already do seem a bit dirty after just a few days, so I will edit my review if need be re: filter changes. The manual says wicking should be changed 1-2 months depending on water quality, usage & dust. I have 3 dogs & 3 cats, so we'll see about the dust factor

Pros: really puts out humditiy. I did use a hydrogemeter to test it

runs almost 1 1/2 days on low setting before water needs to be added

easy to set up/use

no mist spray to damage furniture/floors

nice water trickle sound, not loud

unit self-regulates humidity according to levels in room

works well in larger bedrooms/living rooms and still compact design

Cons: night light is bright blue, doesn't bother me, but may bother some

water noise. Again, I like a running water sound, but others may find it bothersome at night

possible frequent wicking/filter changes

A clear winner in my book, does what it's supposed to do and does it quickly! I've had great nights sleep since this purchase.

I bought 2 of these at a local Goodwill and love them. they are in a living room and an office area so the waterfall sound is not bothersome, nor the blue light. I am pleased and i only paid $15 each used.

Best Deals for Honeywell Top Fill Cool Mist Humidifier

I liked this unit when I originally purchased it. I set it on a tile floor and even my cats who don't care for loud noises weren't bothered by the sound of the water pumping. About 3 weeks after I purchased it the water stopped pumping and the motor (fan?) started making a horrible grinding noise. Sometimes if I played with the motor and reseated it the water would start flowing again but not for long. I called the company after cleaning it and changing the filters, they told me to take it back to the store and exchange it. I have had the 2nd unit for 2 weeks now and it's doing the same thing!! I have never let it run out of water and only use bottled culligan water in it. Honeywell Customer Service told me this is a 'top of the line' model. REALLY?? This one is going back also, for $50 I should have gotten something that lasts at least 1 winter.

Honest reviews on Honeywell Top Fill Cool Mist Humidifier

Second day of using this unit barely feels like it is putting any water in the air the Blue light that it casts on the ceiling is bright (and rather annoying) and it sounds like I have a waterfall and a noisy one in my room the whole time this thing is plugged in. The motor also makes a rather loud noise... as soon as I find the receipt this is going back to the store. Not worth the money.

First of all, I'd like to say that this humidifier is very convenient to refill. That is the only positive thing I can say about it. The unit has a water pump which has to be properly seated or it won't work. If I want to keep our unit working, I have to constantly reseat the pump every couple of hours when it stops pumping water. This humidifier is also very loud and we have to cover up the bright blue light in order to sleep with it running. We are returning it today for a different brand after one week of use.

It appears that the first guy to review this humidifier didn't bother to read the directions. He said there is no way to tell if the unit needs to be refilled. That is completely incorrect. The digital readout will indicate the level of humidity in the air but if one of the bottles is empty an "F" displays on the left or right to tell you that the bottle on that side needs to be filled. This unit definitely does the job but it is quite flimsy and it is very noisy. I find it hard to justify the $180 price based on build quality but it does do the job.

This humidifier does an amazing job. It raises the humidity in our entire home(split level)to a comfortable level where the winter skin-crawling sensation stops and the static-electricity in our hair and clothes goes away. Bemis/Essick stands behind their product better than any company I've encountered. Our motor froze-up and they replaced it at no charge even though it was out of warranty. They had no legal obligation to do so, but did it anyway because they had received a bad bunch of motors. They apparently value their customers and reputation.

Best Deals for Essick Air 4D7 300 Whole-House Console-Style Evaporative

We didn't buy this through Amazon, but I need to review it where I can. We have had to replace the power head three times dut to malfunctions, and the third time took about four months and only did we get it after complaining to the BBB!

Overall the unit does provide humidity and it is noisy on the high fan settings, but for this level of humididty to cover this volume what would you expect.

Problems with the third head now are that it doesn't notify when the tanks are out, so we have to just check it daily, but I'm not going to go through the H*** I just went through to get a new head.

The intake filters are a joke as they restrict the air flow so much, a lot goes around the filter as it has no positive seal to the unit (really, it just sits on the side).

Now, the stoppers on the tanks wont seal properly so unless I carry the tanks upright I'll dribble water all over the place (deal with Essick NO!). I'll just have to make sure that if we turn off the unit to pull the tanks.

I seriously wish there was a unit that oculd put out this much humidity and not have the issues...

Honest reviews on Essick Air 4D7 300 Whole-House Console-Style Evaporative

I agree with another review that said it is not worth the $180 price tag! This unit is very flimsy. And noisy? Gadz, if it's in the same room with you, and set on the lowest fan speed, the noise from it will drive you up the wall! On the higher speeds...I think standing next to a moving freight train would not be so loud. The old "water wheel" humidifiers were much quiter, and did a much better job of getting humidity into the air. The "clean air" filter on the back of the unit is USELESS! There is a large gap between the filter and the back of the unit.

Just like water, and electricity, moving air will also take THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE. In this case air is sucked more easily through the GAP than through the filter, rendering the filter useless! GREAT ENGINEERING...what were they thinking! I put the filter in the unit, traced it with a Sharpie marker, removed it and added foam weather stripping to the back of the unit to close off that gap.

UPDATE 1/21/2012. I found that the micro switch for the left tank was sticking so when the left bottle was empty the indictor to fill the bottle would not come on. This switch also has to work so that if both tanks go empty the unit will not run.

I called customer servise at Essick-Air, told the woman who answered what the problem was, and asked if they could just send me the switch and I would fix it myself. The way she talked to me was VERY RUDE! She told me I would have to return the entire unit to Amazon, and have them order me a replacement. I guess it is much better to inconvenience the buyer than it would be just to send out a 50 cent switch! Essick-Air is one company that I will never purchase from again, and I would not recomend their products to anyone!!

UPDATE 1/29/2012 Overall this humidifier does NOT do the job! It is used in an area of about 900 sq.ft. and it will NOT bring the humidity up to a comfortable level. It runs constantly. This unit has been in the same spot since I received it, and today I found my carpeting soaking wet!! It emptied the water all over the floor. This thing is a total piece of JUNK! Essick Air is poor engineering, poor quality, poor customer service, and way overpriced for the junk that it is.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Essick Air 4D7 300 Whole-House Console-Style Evaporative

bought this item because of las vegas nv dry weather. the unit is supposed to humidify the whole home. with the blower on full speed to do that you would have to hide the unit in the garage and duct the air in because it is so loud. even at speed 1 (it has 9 speeds)it is louder than the floor stand fan i use to help it circulate the humidity. on occasion one refill bottle will empty and it doen't switch over to the other bottle and completely dries out the wick and the humidity drops dramatically. the caps that release the water from the bottles to the wick have a tendency to leak when you refill them so you have to be quick when putting them back into the unit or you will get water dripping on anything in their path which includes the control panel. when working properly it does a good job, but boy the manufacture does need better quality control.

Cheap AIR-O-SWISS 2055 Ionizing Air Washer & Humidifier

AIR-O-SWISS 2055 Ionizing Air Washer & Humidifier
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars

Having been directed to an evaporative type humidifier, I became intrigued with the basic design of the Venta and AirOSwiss models. Both use fans to draw air over water, with turning discs passing through the water with tiny grooves and bumps on the discs to vastly increase the surface area over which the water evaporates. No heat to worry about drying out and automatically shutting off, and no bubbling water from a warm mist unit. Also, no droplets of water accumulating on nearby carpet or furniture as you would see with an ultrasonic humidifier. Also, no swampy mold accumulating in the 'swamp style' Honeywell unit that uses a wicking method to draw the water up into a sponge to then be evaporated, leaving a wet sponge to grow all kinds of stuff. The pros and cons are pretty clear:

Pros: No heat to worry about if the unit runs drythe fan keeps running but so what? It's just a fan; also no to worry about overheating when it runs dry, no ultrasonic misting to leave water droplets on carpet/furniture, easy to clean, no filters to be replaced. No wicking sponge, so the discs are easily removed and cleaned and no 'swamp thing' accumulating in the wet wicking sponge as in other units. Also the water seems to trap small air particles so that there is an actual cleaning function. Air is drawn IN through the TOP of the unit, blows over the plastic turning discs, and comes out the sides.

Cons: Evaporative, which means it cools (fine for the desert country, not so good in winter in the Midwest), no heating, and the fill valve on the water tank is the stupidest location you can imagine, so that at best you can fill it only 3/4 full. Also, it won't shut off when water runs out, so power will be consumed with no humidification happening. See below for the one last 'con' relating to the warranty.

The other con: They SAY on their website they have a 10 year warranty, yet when I got this thing from Bed Bath and Beyond the plastic shaft inside had corroded over time and was crumbling. It was a major effort to get these guys to agree to replace it. It is NOT SAID on their warranty, but apparently the 10 year warranty does not apply to the rotating disc set (surprise!) inside. I told them they had better put that in writing if they don't want to tick off a lot more customers other than me. They eventually replaced it but it took a number of emails and phone calls, so this is not exactly the fastest responding company I've seen. Also note, the 10 year warranty does NOT apply to the water tank and its part . . .that's only 3 months.

For or more, the above limitations cut it to a 3 star, even though it's a reliable humidifier that cranks out the humidity from the unit with no filters and very little maintenance. As a personal aside, I can't stand the reviews which deride humidifiers because their hygrometers show no change. Humidifiers can only be evaluated by how quickly they put water into the air . . . the ultimate humidity change in a space is dependent on the room's air flow, items of absorbency, and atmospheric conditionsnone of which are in the control of a humidifier! This item definitely puts out the water into the air.

I've been an Amazon customer for years and have never written a review until now.

I purchased this unit less than two years ago. It now sits on the sidewalk, waiting for the garbage man to pick it up. How did it come to this?

The first day it arrived I put it together, turned it on, and a loud clacking noise came from within. Disheartened, I called the company, who misdiagnosed the problem and offered to send a new part. After studying the workings of the unit, I made an adjustment to the "pre-assembled" hub, and the clacking went away. So it worked. For a while. I called them and cancelled the part.

After a few months of use, it started rattling intermittently. This never stopped, I just got used to it.

A few months after that, I turned the unit on and, nothing. Wait. A. Few. Minutes. And it turns on. Not sure why, but, okay, fine, now I have to wait 5 or so minutes for it to turn on after I, er, turn it on.

Winter ended. I cleaned the unit and put it safely away.

The next winter came and I brought it down, filled it up and turned it on. A half-hour later I noticed a pool of water had formed around the unit. Upon further inspection, I noticed the tank was leaking from the seams of the (poorly designed) water-tank. But there's a warranty!

I called the company, and explained that the adhesive had come undone and water was leaking out of the seam. She told me that no, there was a hairline crack in the tank, caused by me, and it wasn't covered by warranty. But I could buy a replacement tank for $30. I also mentioned the rattling. She said it was caused by something else I did, but I could buy replacements for that. Finally, I told her about the delay in power-on. This is the doozy she told me: It was sensing the humidity. It turned on when the air needed it.

Ha!

I should have stopped there. Maybe argued with her. Asked to speak to her manager. But at this point, what's another $30 after spending $240. I begrudgingly ordered the tank and dealt with the unit's rattling and its newfound "humidity-sensing" powers.

A few months later, I caught the unmistakable smell of melting electronics. You guessed it, the AIR-O-SWISS 2055 had finally given up the goat. A little over a year of use and it was kaput.

Not having any luck with their "customer service" representatives over the phone last time, I thought I would write to them through their website. I found the proper form and filled it out, spending a lot of time and thought detailing all that had happened since the purchase of their product (which was still under warranty).

I never heard back from them.

The AIR-O-SWISS 2055 stayed in our apartment for a few months after this, gathering dust. I intended to call, or write a follow-up, or thought maybe, *gasp* they would answer my initial claim. None of this ever happened.

This is one of the worst products from an awful company with the most terrible customer service I have ever had the misfortune to come across. Unless you're a wealthy masochist who wants to pay top dollar for shoddy goods and condescending customer service, avoid this--and anything made by AIR-O-SWISS--at all costs.

Best Deals for AIR-O-SWISS 2055 Ionizing Air Washer & Humidifier

I received this from Bed Bath & Beyond tonight and I just got it up and running. They did not have this model on display at Bed Bath & Beyond, so I did not quite have a chance to see this on display before buying. And I traded in an Air O Swiss 7135 humidifier for this, and I am not sure if that was a wise decision.

I am giving this unit 3 stars for now... But if I do not like the performance after trying this for a week, I will return this unit without any hesitation.

Why did I buy this unit? Several reasons.

1 My experience with the Air O Swiss 7135 humidifer overall was not-so-bad. I owned a Venta humidifier and that turned out to be a disaster.

2 The 10 year warranty. I reckoned anything with a 10 year warranty must be well-built and durable. At first glance, this unit does not see too durable. Not sure if this unit will last 10 years as touted.

3 The air cleaning function. My wife is having a baby very soon, so I figured something to clean the air would be useful.

4 This unit does not require much spending in terms of replace parts and the such. There is no filter to replace. You only need to replace the silver ionizer stick once a year.

My gripes.

1. The unit is BULKY. It's almost bulbous in shape. And it's not too light either. I think the UPS mailing invoice said the package weighed over 20 lbs.

2. This unit operates using a fan. That means some users may find this unit noisy, especially when running on high. (Two settings available.)

3. The water container is too small compared to the overall size of the unit and it is very cumberson to use and fill up. First, the cap is located on the side of the container. WHY? It is awkward to hold the container as you fill it on its side. Second, the container is IMPOSSIBLE to fill up fully. I spilled water trying to fill this up and I was only successful in getting it filled maybe 80% or so. The container is shaped in an awkward way making it impossible to fill up fully. Third, as you try to put back the container into the unit upright, there is water leakage. The spring equipped water spout which feeds the unit water could use better washers for sealing. I am disappointed that a unit that costs as much as this has such shoddy craftsmanship/design.

4. The humidification discs seem difficult to clean and not too durable. They will crack if I drop them. That is a given. They have slits, grooves, and crevices built into them. I am not looking forward to the prospect of using a brush to get all the debris out. No wonder Air O Swiss sells the humidification discs as a spare part.

Honest reviews on AIR-O-SWISS 2055 Ionizing Air Washer & Humidifier

I purchased this humidifier online from the Air-o-Swiss website. It arrived clearly misassembled and damaged. I can't believe they didn't look in the box before shipping it to me (the IRS could straighten these guys out, too). After figuring out what was wrong, I sent emails with photos and explanations, had many discussions, and was told they would get back to me. They never did and are now after 30 days refusing to let me return the unit. After repairing it myself, it doesn't produce enough humidity to get a forced-air heated room up to 30% RH (45% is recommended). It does evaporate the whole reservoir overnight, so I think the problem is simply that it only holds one gallon. Need a larger reservoir, but the problem there is you have to fill it. Also, a humidistat is a must-have. As a sidenote, if you need to get a separate hygrometer, go digital, analogs are inaccurate no matter how often you calibrate them. Finally, my best advice is just get a furnace-mounted whole house unit and skip these portable units if you're looking to increase humidity by more than a few percent.

For details, including photos of the internal workings of this evaporative humidifier, look for the 2055 AirOSwiss reviews done elsewhere on Amazon which has plenty of images of the inner workings. To summarize, it's an evaporative humidifier which works by drawing air in through the top via a fan then over a disk pack of about 10 slowly rotating plastic disks which dip into a pool of water, then the air exits the side carrying the humidified air.

Pros: No heated element to worry about overheating when it runs dry, no ultrasonic misting to leave water droplets on carpet/furniture, easy to clean, no filters to be replaced.

Cons: Evaporative which means it cools (fine for the desert country, not so good in winter in the Midwest), no heating, and the fill valve on the water tank is the stupidest location you can imagine, so that at best you can fill it only 3/4 full.

The other con: They SAY on their website they have a 10 year warranty, yet when I got this thing from Bed Bath and Beyond the plastic shaft inside had corroded from time and was crumbling. It was a major effort to get these guys to agree to replace it. It is NOT SAID on their warranty, but apparently the 10 year warranty does not apply to the rotating disc set (surprise!). Also note, the 10 year warranty does NOT apply to the water tank and its part . . .that's only 3 months.

For $260 bucks or more, the above limitations cut it to a 3 star, even though it's a reliable humidifier that cranks out the humidity from the unit with no filters and very little maintenance. As a personal aside, I can't stand the reviews which deride humidifiers because their hygrometers show no change. Humidifiers can only be evaluated by how quickly they put water into the air . . . the ultimate humidity change is depending on the room's air flow, items of absorbency, and atmospheric conditionsnone of which are in the control of a humidifier!

I have this exact same cigar travel humidor, but it's branded as the "Cigar Caddy". It's been a terrific large-capacity travel humidor. It's advertised to hold 18 cigars, but I've trimmed notches in each of the foam trays to allow for 24 cigars total. It maintains moisture very well according to my digital hygrometer. You could fill this thing with 18 (24 if you do what I did) of your best cigars, then let it tumble down a flight of stairs they'd be unharmed. Please don't do that and if you do, I am not liable for your stupidity.

Be careful not to overfill the internal humidification element. It's tricky and if you add too much solution/distilled water, it will leak onto your cigars.

All in all, I'd happily recommend this to a friend looking to carry several cigars with them, and keep them properly humidified, on a long camping trip.
