Fits perfect on my Hearthstone Clydesdale insert. Blends in well also. My shelf dimension is five & a quarter inches & it fits perfectly, no overhang. A little expensive but Made in America providing jobs for Americans, I like that. The only thing that surprised me was that you're advised to not use the water for consumption, strictly for putting humidity in the air. Guess I'll have to stick with the microwave for my tea.

Discount Woodeze 5CN-HK-B 2 Quart Black Half Kettle - Brass Handle
We needed an item to humidify our very, very dry wood stove heated home. This seemed like the right tool for the job even though it was a bit pricey. It has been somewhat effective with respect to adding some moisture to the air. Well made, but would be more enthusiastic if hadn't cost quite so much.

So, it's July 1st and air conditioning goes out for part of my office. The part which happens to contain the servers & telecom gear. Building maintenance looked at the unit, contractor looked at the unit -it needs to be replaced...but given the July 4th holiday, it's not going to happen for at least a week.
Hence, my purchase of these blowers. I'm using these blowers to move air from areas which have working air conditioning to areas where the dead air conditioner is located. So far, so good. Was 86F in the warmest office, now 78F and comfortable. I'd imagine after a few more hours it'll be even closer to normal.
Noise levels: High is louder than acceptable for any great length of time in an office. That said, it's only wind/air movement noise with no motor whine whatsoever. Not an objectionable noise, but it's definitely there. Medium is far quieter and still moves a good amount of air. This is the speed we're leaving them on. Even our most ADHD employee hasn't yipped about the noise on medium.
Air movement: Excellent on all levels. It truly pushes air a long distance compared to traditional axial fans, like box & table fans. Even 20+ feet away I can still feel it strongly.
Durability: Time will tell. I'll certainly post updates if/when they happen. The housing is made of a nice thick-ish polycarbonate in high-vis yellow, so no extra caution signs are needed. It's someone's own fault if they happen to trip over it.
Size: It's difficult to tell from the photo, but these are substantially smaller than the commercial units, about half the size. Those put out anywhere from 2000-4000 CFM of air vs. this one's 500 CFM, but bigger isn't always better. Bigger = noisier and in an office, the higher CFM would cause papers to fly everywhere. This little guy can be stored just about anywhere and doesn't weigh a ton. It does put out far more than the Lasko models I've seen in the various stores.
In previous times, I used to keep a few old central AC blowers around for work like this and just soldered/welded some chicken wire over the various openings to keep fingers out of danger. This looks far better and is overall quieter. Certainly safer!
Update: 1 month later
Still 5 stars. After 2.5 weeks, the AC was finally replaced at my office. Wrapped the cord up on this little guy.... then the rains came and started seeping in through the floor joists. Back in service this little guy went again, this time drying carpets. Great little blower. I'm very glad we've got a couple in our maintenance inventory now.
They'd be worth at least $100-120 to me if I knew how awesome they are.
1. how powerful is it? (i dont know what CFM is since I am using this for home use)
when the fan is on full speed, the blower makes you feel like you have your head stuck out the window on the freeway and are going 80mph. (this is how my face felt when i put it in front of the blower)
2. is it loud?
it honestly is no louder than a ceiling fan (maybe a little louder, but not much) way more quite than a box fan
i got the product because i live in an apartment and there is no airflow, this product works great for moving the air through the big rooms. (point the fan up toward the ceiling and it feels like you have a ceiling fan)
despite the pictures the fan is not a high gloss plastic but rather a matte finish.

Made of that impossible to crack molded polyethylene like the big commercial units. Not high impact plastic. Starts out as a baby with a small whine or faint scrape. (I have two of these). They get quiet when the burrs wear off the squirrel cage inside. Move a LOT of air, mine are 3 years old; so MANY uses. They'd be worth at least $100-120 to me if I knew how awesome they are.

This little baby puts out more air than all the mini squirrel cage type fans we have ever tried. Super light, small, fits anywhere and does a great job. Cheapest out there too as far as cost goes, but the most well put together air mover for the mini type. Great job Shop Vac!Honest reviews on Shop-Vac 1032000 Mighty Mini Air Mover

I bought this to help me dry the carpets in my truck while I spent weeks hunting down a pesky leak. It was great, it's small and light weight but this thing moves air. It's also really quiet for what it does and come with a plug on the unit for a small light or other light load. Multiple speed settings and I do agree that the dial feels a bit flimsy, but I've had zero trouble with it after almost two months of use where I'd drag it out to drive way for a couple of days a week. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat!Wednesday, August 13, 2014
Lasko CHF50 Humidifier Filter Reviews
I have no problems with these.
You . . do . . need to wet them before you put them in the carrier, but that is easy.
It turns out that these are low quality humidifier wicks that disintegrated into goo within two months. The whole thing didn't disintegrate, but large patches of it turned to goo -like dissolved paper or whatever the pad is really made out of. The OEM wick worked for almost two years in the same spot in the same house at the same humidifier settings before mineral buildup diminished the humidifier output.
Additionally, these wicks did not fit into the lasko humidifier they were sold for. They are about half an inch out of size in each dimension. If you get them wet, they soften up and can be worked into the wick holder, but they still don't fit well.

If I wrote a review the week I got this wick, I would have written that it was a fine OEM replacement wick and given it a all the stars that went along with that. After getting the humidifier out for another winter season, I discovered the filter/wick in my Lasco 1050 was one of THE WORST i've ever seen. Cat hair, dust and everything else including a ton of nicotine buildup. I went to Amazon.com to try and find a new filter for this humidifier. Did'nt take long at all, I ran upon a couple of dealers right away. They advertised the Lasco CHF50 to fit my machine. Being the condition of my old filter, I bought online. I received the new filter in their timely manner, on time. They packaged the new filter in a large box with air cushions, to protect the product also during shipping. I paid a little more for this filter than the other store had advertised, but the whole process went so smooth. This certain filter also fits other models of Lasco humidifiers. One other thing is that this new filter fits my machine perfectly. All recommondations here. 2 thumbs up. Great product, great humidifier. So, while I was out shopping at Amazon I decided to also purchase a Hunter air purifier, model 30378 for rooms up to 21x19 foot. I recieved this via UPS also as scheduled. I'm running them both at the same time, 24/7, and loving it. With winter being here, all windows closed for the season, I'm very please with what I now call my new air purification system. Really, it's working so efficiently.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Lasko CHF50 Humidifier Filter
No fault of the filter, but our humidifier quit working shortly after we got the new filter, so I don't really have a good review of the filter.Monday, August 11, 2014

((added later: I'd like to LOWER my star rating to 2 stars, it doesnt work any more. Fan lasted 3 mos, now it doesnt turn on. You think I have time to send this back in the mail? I dont. into the garbage it goes...))
I looked for just regular ultrasonic humidifiers and couldnt find hardly any that just held alot of water, had a directional spout and the mist came out on top so it didnt get the carpet wet, was quiet and that's it... dont need filters or anti-bacterial whatever that will just break, i know how to wash a piece of plastic when its dirty. Anyway, this model is all those things, I would have said I was 100% satisfied with it. AND I bought it from the manufacturer after amazon screwed up my order and tried to charge me a ton for shipping.
BUT, i cant give it 5 stars because when the thing runs out of water, an alarm goes of, what the heck is that for? Just turn off if you're so worried. It woke me up and scared me half to death. Today it woke up my twins and scared them, its like a siren this thing. I'm going to take some pliars to it and 'fix' it myself. Other than that, works like a charm. BIG tank... good.
CHANGE: fan broke after 2 mos. its trash now, going in the garbage.
The best advantage when it's compared against others -It's quiet! Even sitting right next to my ear, I don't notice its existence. It's very important when you leave it on while asleep or working. But you got to watch the water level. When it gets too low, beeping alarm can startle you. It's good to have the safety feature. So no complaints.
I used to clean the base every other day, now reduced to weekly. No accumulation of anything so far. Neat as new. :)
The humidifier puts out a steady stream of cold vapor, which will dissipate into the air if the unit is about 3 feet off the ground. I keep mine on a chair in our hallway. We don't have a forced-air heating system, so we rely on traffic (human and animal) in the hallway to spread the humidity around. I actually tend to swat at the vapor stream each time I walk by (I'm not sure why, It's just fun to do). If you have forced-air heating, it would be easy enough to simply put this over a vent. This isn't a whole-house unit, but with just 2 of them I can keep my 3 bedroom, 2 bath home at around 41% humidity on a dry winter day. The tank holds enough water to go more than 24 hours wide open without need for a refill.
Both of my Sunpentown units have worked without a hitch for 2 years now. If you want a low-maintenance, quiet and reliable humidifier, look no further.
Edit: Five years into ownership now, and still no complaints. Just put them away for the season, and expect they'll work without a hitch when I take them out again next winter.

I've had the "Crofton" version of this same humidifier for almost 6 years. The brand changed to Sunpentown during the time. I bought it in east coast, used it nightly in winter every year. I had it shipped to west coast when I was relocated. I use it whenever I remember to year-around due to the dry weather. Recently I brought it from home to my office and put it right next to my desk to get daily moisture. It's been working faithfully all this time. The best advantage when it's compared against others -It's quiet! Even sitting right next to my ear, I don't notice its existence. I live in a small studio apartment in which the heating is centrally controlled, so my apartment tends to get much too warm and very, very dry, especially at night, even with a window open. Once I received this humidifier, it was very easy to set up and worked perfectly. No problems with water leakage or anythingthe tank cap locks in pretty tightly. It is extremely quietI run it mostly at night and it doesn't bother me at all, even when on it's highest setting. So far I have not had to refill the tank very often and it stays full throughout the nightthroughout many nights actually! I sleep much more comfortably and the room is not dry anymore (no more dry skin, scratchy throat, etc. in the morning too). I highly recommend this humidifier and I am very happy with my purchase of it.Honest reviews on Sunpentown SU-2000 Ultrasonic Humidifier
After burning through three other humidifiers, we tried the Sunpentown. So far, so good in fact, we ran it for over a month every night in our bedroom, and not only was it very quiet, but it didn't leak, sputter, spit or die. High praise indeed.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Sunpentown SU-2000 Ultrasonic Humidifier
This Sunpentown humidifier is the best one I've ever bought. After trying 3 different ones that used filters and forced air, none of which lasted more than a month, I decided to give the Sunpentown a try. What a difference! Unlike the forced-air models, this one has no filter to get moldy and smelly. It doesn't make any noise at all (well, almost), and puts out an amazing amount of water into the air. It rarely needs cleaning (about once a month), and when it is necessary to clean it, it takes all of 10 minutes. The large fill hole on the bottom of the tank worried me at first. It didn't look very sturdy, and the little rubber ring that seals it looked like it would give out in about a week. After 2 years I'm happy to say it's still going strong. No leaks or failures. The large opening makes refills quick and easy, and cleaning out the inside of the tank is simple, since you can get your hand inside without any trouble at all. Forced-air humidifiers require cleaning every time you fill it up, and then you have to let the filter dry before you can use it again. With this one, I just rinse out the tank when I fill it, and once a month I empty the base unit and wipe it down with glass cleaner. That's it. I just fill it back up and it's good for another 30 days of continuous use.The humidifier puts out a steady stream of cold vapor, which will dissipate into the air if the unit is about 3 feet off the ground. This humidifier is easy to use in that there is no filter required to cover the heating element, so keeping things clean is a snap. However, I found it to be a bit noisy (gurgle). If I put in the bedroom, I have to pretend its raining. It also doesn't run for anything like the advertised time (certainly not overnight).
That said, when my other, older humidifier dies, I will likely replace it with one of these.
This is the best humidifier for people who are too lazy to constantly clean them.

This humidifier works well, and we love the "climate control" function. The only drawback is that the tank only holds about 3-4 hours worth of mist, so it requires constant refills, and will not run throughout the night (but perhaps that is standard, as we are not humidifier experts).Honest reviews on Jarden Home Environment Holmes Warm Mist Humidifier HM5305TG-U1

This humidifier lasted exactly 4 days before it just stopped working. It took a ridiculous 25 minutes to set it up and getting to pump out some mist the first night, but otherwise seemed to be working well. It was annoying that it needed to be cleaned every day instead of once a week like the directions said, but I can deal with that. By the second night, the knobs started acting a little temperamental. By the third night, the power light stopped working even though the unit was operating (safety hazard), water was leaking out of the knobs (safety hazard) and the humidifier wouldn't create steam unless it was set on full blast (wall/carpet/floor damage). Next time I tried to turn it on, nothing happened, it was dead. What a waste of time! Do yourself a favor and buy a better brand.Thursday, May 29, 2014

Good looking unit. Works just fine. Even on its highest speed, it doesn't put out much air. The humidifier works really well though. It's not a bad unit, I just expected a bit more from it. Use your own judgment. Thx.
