I have the original Duracraft DCM-200. This Honeywell is the exact replacement for it. I love it. I have electric heat from an 80's furnace that has a permanent filter I cannot replace so the air in here is bad. I have permanent post-nasal drip, my son is Croup sensitive and my DH is asthmatic. Warm Mist humidifiers aggravate sinus problems so *do not* use warm mist for sinus problems.Cool Mist are great for Sinus and preventing Croup but must use filters due to the nature of waterbourne mold in cool air technology. I use my humidifiers for a 160 sf and 145 sf rooms. I keep them on low each night, and use about half the tank. My filters last around six weeks because I do not use the pro-tech bulbs (they do not work). I use BestAir Water Treatment tablets, extra strength (the pink box.) I bleach treat the water tank plus vinegar clean the base every 2 1/2 months. Yes, cool mist humidifiers make noise (warm mist sterilize with the hot steam that comes out, are quiet) but this is the quietest one I've found. If the noise of a clothes dryer next to your bedroom bothers your sleep, then a cool mist will bug you too. I get my filters for 7 bucks each (I buy 6 per shipment). 2HT Bionaire Humidifier Water Treatment Tablets (12 Pack)

I am happy with this product. It is compact, inexpensive, easy to use, and good for a small to medium sized home.Excellent for people with allergies, sinus congestion, and dry eyes or skin.
I haven't had any issues handling the water tank, as noted in another review. Also, as soon as the filled water tank is set into place, the water is allowed to drain into the filter housing where the filter can automatically suck up the water. Therefore it does not seem necessary to wet the filter beforehand. My item did not come with the manufacture's instructions so I am not sure if this is recommended.
I recommend placing the humidifier in the desired location before filling the water tank because water may seep out if held at an angle. I also recommend carrying from the base because the water tank and filter housing are on separate, removable sides.
The replacement filters cost about $10 each.

I bought this humidifier because my baby was sick and it was hard for him to breathe through the night. The things I enjoyed about this humidifier was as follows:
-The fan was really loud and it actually kept us all sleeping through the night better. I live in a noisy area and the noise was very soothing. i saw that some people didnt enjoy this humidifier because of this, but it worked wonders for us.
-I noticed a difference in the moisture of the room. our room is fairly small and we shut the door to make sure that it was really making it as moist as possible. it really felt like it was a tropical jungle in our room at night. I could feel the moisture on my skin and we all woke up feeling softer and hydrated! I have since bought a humidifier and I cant tell that its doing anything, the honeywell sure did work!
-I like how the water canister comes apart from the machine so that I can leave it set up and just grab the container part only to fill it
with that being said, there is a reason i gave it such a low rating
-in less then two weeks of this running only at night, we noticed our room smelled awful. at first I just assumed all the extra moisture had made our clothes smell moldy or our bedding. however when we looked at the filter we were shocked at the level of mold it had grown in such a short amount of time. the smell was out of control. the replacement filters are $10 a piece and we just cant afford to keep putting that much money into this little machine.
we had followed the instructions to a tee and aired out our room in the day when the humidifier was not running. i cant imagine that this is supposed to happen. Ive read reviews for the filters and others had the same problem.
spend a little bit more money and buy something that lasts and is good quality that you dont have to invest money into every two weeks, thats what im going to do... this baby is going back.
really wanted to like it :(
Honest reviews on Kaz HCM-890 Cool Moisture Humidifier
It's important for a room to have the proper balance of humidity in it, for the humans, pets, and even plants that are in there. Too much humidity and the air feels moist and uncomfortable. Too little humidity and skin dries up, mucous membranes dry up, eyes dry up, and poor health can result. We have a variety of humidifiers we run in the winter because our heat is forced hot water. This causes the house to dry out fairly quickly. So we have humidifiers practically in every room during the winter. We got this Honeywell unit as a cheap solution for a back guest bedroom.
Unfortunately, cheap is right. It just doesn't perform nearly as well as any other humidifier we've tried. It is noisy. Far noisier than anything else we have. The options of off high low means the thing blasts away without any idea of if it's doing a good job or not. The air could be just fine! Or it could be really dry and need the high setting. I highly recommend getting one where you set the humidity level you want and let it do the balancing. That way you're never wasting electricity or money.
The container is fairly small. So you'll have to refill it regularly to keep it operating. Also, the curved top handle makes it a bit troublesome to set into a sink to fill it up.
All in all, I just wouldn't go with this. There are SO many other options out there that are well worth having.

As another reviewer said, it's a water bowl with a fan, basically. This $30 model is to catch the people who have a lower pricepoint for spending. It's loud and inefficient. There is another model which has a UV light and is quiet that costs about $75-$80, but is actually rated high. If you can't afford that, might as well buy a vaporizer for $15.
