This product was quite different than original equipment part, the original part was a cork gasket, but this differently shaped rubber gasket works fine.

pluses: no filters, very (extremely) quiet, easy to clean with shower hose/kitchen sink sprayer

minuses: no humidistat to control on/off

This is my fifth humidifier. Anything with a filter/wick is troublesome in maintainance and costly to replace. Bought the small one for bedroom, then bought medium one for living room. Bought one for nieces baby shower. Would not hesitate to continue buying if needed. One of the best appliances I ever bought.

These are very good for single rooms up to around 12x15 a larger unit is needed for larger rooms.

This unit will be empty in 3 days of only night use, so the water evaporation really works.

I have 2 of these, and am happy with them.

They wont warp or damage any surface or put out too much moisture, even if right next to a wall or object.

Having said that, i feel that most days my lps are still a bit dry and my nose/sinuses are still a bit dry but

nothing like being without a humidifier.

My sinuses ached and my nose was painfully dry, and everyone would cough at night when the heat kicked in.

It must be cleaned every other day if using this daily. I dont use the Venta additive i used that when i 1st tried the unit, and the water stank really bad. I only left it for 3 days, so i think that additive isnt a great idea.

A better idea may be using distilled water (apprx $1 per gallon)if you need to be as clean as possible or for medical reasons. This will reduce water residue/buildup/minerals in the tank.

So i would say even with additive, you need to change the water and clean the unit consistently you dont want to spread anything to anyone thru the evaporation. The water isnt really dirty from 2 days of sitting, its just that water sitting turns bad all by itself. I use a paper towl and vinegar on the tank, and the disk must be soaked and cleaned-its not easy cleaning the disk but maybe if the air is really dirty-once a month.

Overall if your air is real dirty or dusty you may notice a greenish greyish residue from the tank when you clean it. Use vinegar, dont use harsh cleaners-they leave residue and the plastic is porous-dont want to evaporate any cleaners into yur room...

The fan part of the unit can collect dust and really shows you what the air quality looks like but it all can be cleaned because the unit opens easily.

Be careful with the unit and disk! it has a long warantly but in general this tank and top are not tough! if you drop it it will crack or break easily. i dropped the disk when cleaning and the edge cracked off and 3 or 4 of the end of the disks cracked, but it still works fine.

Its great in a small enclosed space, i cant imagine how the larger unit would humidify a large room. The fans do evaporate a ton of water, its very quiet and the sound can almost become a soothing sleep noise, its not a sound like dripping water or anything like that...but in a large open space with more doors and air, ...seems like it may not work like you would think.

-since it will go anywhere its really good for floors, plants, furniture that needs moisture.

FYI if you have steaam radiators that give off a bit of steam when they are in use, this is a decent amount of humidity in every room of the house-dont change them due to noise or looks and baseboard heat is so very dry-we have baseboard heat and i hate it. think about humidity before changing your heating system-it makes a huge difference in your home leather, wood, and people need humidity, and young kids/babies too.

This machine does its job very well but it requires monthly maintenance. You will need to buy the bottle of Water Treatment every month.

Honest reviews on Venta Airwasher -White, 5014536

I thought this was what I was looking for. First, the unit was cracked as soon as I opened it from the box. The packaging was not damaged nor was the shipping box, I can only assume because it is so poorly constructed ( very thin plastic) that it broke in transit. I ordered three of these and every one was damaged. Amazon rules and got a refund no problem. I love the idea behind this unit but they are waaaaaaaay to small for any size room. I would order the largest one to see if it has the same crap construction and if it doesn't then write a review. There ya have it. Oh yes I must say again that Amazon rules.

The design is excellent: simple, robust, easy to clean. However, this smallest model was unable to raise the relative humidity (RH) of a 140 sq ft room with 8 ft ceilings above 30% or so (unhumidified RH was about 20%). I exchanged for the larger "24" model, which works well: RH reaching about 40%.

Mine works fine without leaking and requires no maintenance other than changing the wick once a year. Replacing the water has been very easy for me. It requires refills of water about every other night during winter and if run only at night. It also works fine with tap water plus a little bacteriostatic water treatment.

I purchased this humidifier about 8 months ago to replace a large, bulky humidifier that required filters. This humifier has an auto shut off when out of water and also has the optional "night light". I like the power dial that allows you to control the amount of mist it produces. This stays in our bedroom and does a good job keeping our room from being too dry. I actually wish it were a little louder, as I liked the "hum" from our former humidifier, but I am sure that the quiet feature is going to be a plus for most! You can't go wrong with this humidifier. It is sleek in design and easy to fill. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a cool mist humidifier!

I bought this humidifier from Bed Bath and Beyond for my infant's nursery. Very pleased with it after several uses. It's very quiet, has an optional night light so if you are light sensitive you don't need to use it or if you want a night light say for a nursery then you have it. It's very easy to clean and I bought the cartridges that help to maintain the clean water for it.

This has a very subtle scent when poured into the tanks. It doesn't emit any odor during use but it makes it seem fresh and clean. I refill my tanks about every other day and use this each time. I have hard water and have noticed very little build up, which is what I was hoping for. No stale water smell, lime scale, etc. so this is worth it and I will buy again.

I use this solution in a Lasko 9 gal humidifer. My water is very hard & this stuff seems to work well. I think the added bacteriostatic action is important because stagnant water can create bacteria & fungal growth. I would have rated it 5 stars except that it is difficult to get a capful out of a 1/2 gal container. If this company would only include a pump mechanism that delivers a 1 gallon dose per pump, they would have a winning product.

Using the same humidifier filter (8 gal) for 2 months and no signs of bacteria and no lime buildup in the reservoir. A very little goes a long way and it has a great smell too.

Honest reviews on BestAir 245 Golden Solution II Combination Water & Bacteriostatic

The product smells good.

It works but prefer the manufactures recommend solution ESSICK (no dust)

If you put to much in the container it creates a ton of dust. The essick wick filters when using this product show a build up of Golden solution in crystal form. However they remain clean from mold/bacteria.

The ingredients are not mixed well and don't stay in solution

This is the first of 5 that I tried to keep my humidifier clean inside and not build up calcium deposits, rust staining and a scummy film. It works great, unfortunately this is the only place I have found it. The price is good so when I need it I buy more from Amazon.

Last fall I purchased a Honeywell HCM750 cool vapor humidifier, made by Kaz. Initially it worked fine but, following its instructions, after a couple of weeks I cleaned it. When I put it back together, it would not run and had to phone Kaz customer service. I am quite handy with these gadgets and followed their instructions but could not get it to work; it appears the core of the humidifier is a magnetic rotor that makes the fan turn and it just would not work.

Finally I sent the unit back for repair/replacement, and since it was winter and wanted to keep the humidity in my house at an appropriate level, I purchased a second unit, which I figured later on to use in the bedrooms area. It was around Christmas time, but it took three weeks to get the repaired unit back. Once back it worked fine, and I kept both units going. When both were working, my electronic temperature and humidity control was measuring between 25 and 30%, which I consider on the low end of humidity during the winter months, with gas hot-forced-air heating, and I kept the units runnning 24-7, except when adding water to the tanks.

A few weeks later it was time to clean both units and lo and behold, one of them would not run and had to play with the magnetic rotor for maybe one hour or so until it would start running properly. Put both units back to work, and the next day, one of them is sitting in a 12-inch poodle of water. Could not figure out what was the problem; took it apart, put it back together, and then again problem with the magnetic rotor. Finally got it to work only at medium speed (it has a 3-speed dial).

By this time I was quite disappointed and decided to take both units and donate them to a non-profit organization, while looking to buy another brand for next winter. Sorry I bought it. I will do better next time.

We should have researched before purchasing this humidifier. It worked fine for a couple nights, then randomly stopped working. We played around with the assembly of the tubing and got it to work, only to have it break down again a few nights later. We ultimately returned the unit, assuming it was defective, only to get a brand new one that also stops working on a regular basis.

In short, I would NOT recommend this humidifier to anyone who wants a reliable unit that you know, actually functions. If you want to tinker with it for hours on end, then this is for you.

After using this product for about 6 months, and letting it run dry a time or two, I found that, as others have noted, the pump would lock up (with a loud "clack") and the water would stop flowing. I disassembled the pump and tried various fixes involving washers, but my thinnest washer was still too thick to let the impeller spin.

I then had the idea of lubricating the impeller and the inside of the pump. I didn't have any silicone spray, but I did have a candle I used for fragrance. Smearing a fingertip with the oily wax, I wiped the wax all over the impeller, the removeable cap, and the inside of the pump, and reassembled the pump. Voila! No more locking up. This worked until I accidentally let the pump run dry again; after relubricating it it's working fine again.

This is an easy fix for the only problem I've found in what is otherwise a great product. I particularly like the fact that filling the humidifier with water is very easy and requires no disassembly; you can just pour it into the large openings even while the unit is running. Also, the wicking is clearly visible at the top of the unit so that you can tell that all's well with it.

This humidifier worked fine for a few weeks, then the pump failed. I called up customer service and they sent a new pump. It ran another month and now this pump is failing. It's a poor design, the bushing on the pump rotor wears out and the pump rotor jams. I'm replacing the pump with a small table-top fountain pump. These last much longer under continuous use.

We bought one of these near the end of November and were initially happy with it. I read some of the other reviews out here; we didn't have any issues with the motor, and didn't find it particularly noisy. It worked well for about two months. I took it apart and put the washable pieces through the dishwasher on a few occasions. The humidity in the house was finally hovering around 35-40%. No problems so far.

The other day, I decided to relocate it. I picked it up and there was a huge wet spot on the carpet where it had been sitting. No good. I cleaned it again, and set it on a plastic lid from a storage container. Sure enough, the next day it was sitting in a puddle of water.

I called Honeywell product support, they said it was defective and wanted me to ship it back to them at my expense. I told them I didn't have the box anymore and it would be cheaper for me to just toss it and buy a new one. Mwa waaa.

Pros: works well, not particularly noisy, kicks out plenty of moisture (as long as you fill it once a day).

Cons: leaks like crazy although there are no apparent cracks in the water containing portion of the unit. Maybe it isn't a leak, I suppose the warm motor could attract some condensation but I doubt it.

We threw it out. Buy something else.
