It was supposed to be new and the seller sent me a used one--stiff brittle and discolored. I used it anyway but will not buy anything else from him.

Honeywell HC22A1007 Replacement Humidifier Pad Reviews
The humidifier pads are fine but I felt that the Amazon page for this item was misleading. It says "Set of two" and lists a price. The price is for one though, not for two. You will be charged twice the price shown. I think that's fraudulent.

I bought a version of this machine at Home Depot, thought I'd share my experience here...
The Bionaire Cool Mist Tower serves my purposes for a medium sized apartment. If I put it in the corner of my room behind a few things, I don't hear it much. It wicks humidity into the air well enough and offers comfort during the fall, winter and early spring, especially around flu season. There's an indicator on top of the unit that tells you when it's time to replace the filter--not sure how accurate it is. The filter seems to do its job so far, I'm about to order a two pack for about 8 to 10 dollars.
The water container is just about the right size and weight to carry to and from the sink to fill up. But wait--you can't stand it upside down to fill the opening on the bottom. Really? REALLY? I have to cradle this jug in my arms while I fill it, like I'm feeding a baby. It doesn't fit in my sink, either. Awkward, and be careful putting the screw cap bottom on correctly or it will leak all over the floor on the way back to the main unit.
The fan, which seems like a propeller on a long stem, is reasonably quiet at one speed--high. At lower speeds, it makes clunking noises all day and night, as if the propeller shaft is wobbling.
These machines are basically water tanks with a filter and a fan above them. Why are they so hard to build correctly, to run quietly and dispense moisture into the air?
That's all they have to do...
The PROBLEM I have with the Unit, which I also wrote Bionaire about, and they let me know in a hurry that they don't care is the WATER TANK!! First off you better have a utility tub or you will have to fill it in the bath tub. Luckily I do have a utility tub so that is not a problem..The real problem is the tank bottom which is not flat. You cannot set the tank down in the tub to fill it. You have to hold the tank up or it will fall over. The best way for me is to place it on and angle and then stick my fingers in the opening to hold it upright. Then in order to put humidifier treatment in, it becomes a real challenge if you did not remember to have it all set up and ready before you filled the tank. After all you have one hand holding the tank so you only have one hand free to measure your humidifier treatment and pour it in.. I hate this tank on this machine and if I would of known I would of found me a DIFFERENT HUMIDIFIER..Easy fill tank is indeed important...I will remember that THANKS TO BIONAIRE!!!
One more thing to think about...With it being tall and thin their is not a lot of water sitting on the bottom for the filters to sit in. I have found for best humidity it is best if I re-wet the filters every few hours because the top portion of the filter will get dry and the out put of humidity will slow down. I would have a hard time recommending this humidifier to someone that is wanting something simple and easy to use, this thing is a pain in the neck...

The Bionaire Cool Mist Tower is a glory of simplification. It is very easy to fill since it has a wide opening and one gallon of water lasts about 12 hours in my apartment. The humidity in my apartment during the winter runs roughly around 17% and with use of this product, I can get it up to 25%. It also runs quietly, an important factor since I have it in my bedroom. I have purchased other humidifiers but I like this one best and the company shipped it in good condition and on time.Best Deals for Jarden Home Environment Bionaire Cool Mist Tower
The humidifier works like it was designed to do..Works well for about a medium size room and the filters are just your basic filter which you will have to replace every few months if used most of the time... The fan is fairly quiet and it does let you know what the humidity is in the room which I also have a wall meter which states fairly close to the one on the humidifier, so I would say it is pretty accurate. The PROBLEM I have with the Unit, which I also wrote Bionaire about, and they let me know in a hurry that they don't care is the WATER TANK!! This humidifier is easy to use and fill with water. The clear section pops out to fill. Water container isn't very secure though when inside unit so you can't move it once it's filled or it will fall out.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Jarden Home Environment Bionaire Cool Mist Tower

880 Autoflo Humidifier Replacement Plate (5 Pack) Reviews
After doing a search on the internet for replacement wicks for the Bonanza evaporative cooler I found that these were the ones to use. They fit just like they should. Unfortunately, being made of fiberglass small peices tend to fall from it, might be different once wet. Be careful handling these as well, they break easy.

I first saw the Germ Guardian H1000 on the desktop of a co-worker. I searched the web for it and found the best price at Amazon. I originally bought it for work, but set it up on my nightstand to test it out and liked so much it never made it to the office. (I may have to get a second one for work.) It's compact size and efficiency are real selling points. I even used it in a recent production I was in, taking it to and from the theater every night. Most of the other performers in the cast wanted to know all about it and were also impressed. I highly-recommend it.
Prior to purchasing, I read a number of online reviews. Like most products, there were mixed results, but overall the impressions seemed positive. I had read a review by Paul here who claimed that the product didn't work. I assumed his review was hyperbole. Turns out Paul was right. It just plain doesn't work.
We ran this humidifier in our baby's nursery for 16 hours straight (refilling so the tank was never empty). In 16 hours, the humidity went from 33% to 34% !?!? It just plain doesn't work.
Now, I should also state some obvious stuff. We used the product in what should have been an appropriate environment. The room is very small 9'x9' and the door was closed to eliminate loss of humidity. Also, my experience can not be explained away as a single faulty unit. I had ordered two (another for the master bedroom), so we retested with a second model with identical results. Both produced a visible mist immediately above the unit, so they were 'working'.
This product has great features in theory. I was excited by the nano silver technology which in theory should make for a clean and low maintenance experience.
I returned this product and purchased a well known brand. While it didn't have all the flashy features of this Germ Guardian, it just plain works. I installed it 10 minutes ago and the room humidity has climbed more than 5%.
Bottom line. This product doesn't work. If you plan to purchase it despite these warnings, make sure you keep your receipt for the return.
However, it is surprising to me that no one has mentioned the missing research yet when it comes to the nano particles that not only clean the air this humidifier blows out but also may be a health concern!
"A 2005 study in Environmental Science & Technology showed that zinc oxide nanoparticles were toxic to human lung cells in lab tests even at low concentrations. Other studies have shown that tiny silver particles (15 nanometers) killed liver and brain cells from rats. "They are more chemically reactive and more bioactive," Illuminato says, because of their size, which allows them to easily penetrate organs and cells. "Products should be at least labeled so consumers can choose whether they want to be part of this experiment.""
.
There is not a lot of information out there for consumers to really understand the possible impact of nano particles in the air (and in food and clothes), and in the meantime, this technology is being used like x-rays in shoe stores at the turn of the century!
As much as I wanted to like this humidifer, I also don't want to be part of a study in 10 years....good luck to everyone else!

This is a tiny humidifier! I bought it for my son as he suffers from bloody noses at night. We live in Arizona and it is very dry. We have the full size Germ Guardian on our side of the house and we like it but I thought the lights would bother the boys at night. So we ordered this. It puts out a small amount of steam and only lasts about 12 hours in our very dry house. But it seems to be enough for my boys. The unit does get warm and doesn't turn itself off when empty. It has a light inside which makes the unit glow a very pretty blue which is a great night light.Honest reviews on pureguardian H1000 12-Hour Ultrasonic Humidifier
I've been using the Germ Guardian H1000 in a small bedroom (approx 150 sf). It doesn't really seem to work! I've measured the humidify before and after and it really doesn't seem to change significantly. It's small, quiet and cute but what's supposed to be most important is how well it works. And it doesn't.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for pureguardian H1000 12-Hour Ultrasonic Humidifier

Honeywell Easy to Care Cool Mist Humidifier, HCM-750 Review

Last fall I purchased a Honeywell HCM750 cool vapor humidifier, made by Kaz. Initially it worked fine but, following its instructions, after a couple of weeks I cleaned it. When I put it back together, it would not run and had to phone Kaz customer service. I am quite handy with these gadgets and followed their instructions but could not get it to work; it appears the core of the humidifier is a magnetic rotor that makes the fan turn and it just would not work.
Finally I sent the unit back for repair/replacement, and since it was winter and wanted to keep the humidity in my house at an appropriate level, I purchased a second unit, which I figured later on to use in the bedrooms area. It was around Christmas time, but it took three weeks to get the repaired unit back. Once back it worked fine, and I kept both units going. When both were working, my electronic temperature and humidity control was measuring between 25 and 30%, which I consider on the low end of humidity during the winter months, with gas hot-forced-air heating, and I kept the units runnning 24-7, except when adding water to the tanks.
A few weeks later it was time to clean both units and lo and behold, one of them would not run and had to play with the magnetic rotor for maybe one hour or so until it would start running properly. Put both units back to work, and the next day, one of them is sitting in a 12-inch poodle of water. Could not figure out what was the problem; took it apart, put it back together, and then again problem with the magnetic rotor. Finally got it to work only at medium speed (it has a 3-speed dial).
By this time I was quite disappointed and decided to take both units and donate them to a non-profit organization, while looking to buy another brand for next winter. Sorry I bought it. I will do better next time.
In short, I would NOT recommend this humidifier to anyone who wants a reliable unit that you know, actually functions. If you want to tinker with it for hours on end, then this is for you.
I then had the idea of lubricating the impeller and the inside of the pump. I didn't have any silicone spray, but I did have a candle I used for fragrance. Smearing a fingertip with the oily wax, I wiped the wax all over the impeller, the removeable cap, and the inside of the pump, and reassembled the pump. Voila! No more locking up. This worked until I accidentally let the pump run dry again; after relubricating it it's working fine again.
This is an easy fix for the only problem I've found in what is otherwise a great product. I particularly like the fact that filling the humidifier with water is very easy and requires no disassembly; you can just pour it into the large openings even while the unit is running. Also, the wicking is clearly visible at the top of the unit so that you can tell that all's well with it.
The other day, I decided to relocate it. I picked it up and there was a huge wet spot on the carpet where it had been sitting. No good. I cleaned it again, and set it on a plastic lid from a storage container. Sure enough, the next day it was sitting in a puddle of water.
I called Honeywell product support, they said it was defective and wanted me to ship it back to them at my expense. I told them I didn't have the box anymore and it would be cheaper for me to just toss it and buy a new one. Mwa waaa.
Pros: works well, not particularly noisy, kicks out plenty of moisture (as long as you fill it once a day).
Cons: leaks like crazy although there are no apparent cracks in the water containing portion of the unit. Maybe it isn't a leak, I suppose the warm motor could attract some condensation but I doubt it.
We threw it out. Buy something else.

We should have researched before purchasing this humidifier. It worked fine for a couple nights, then randomly stopped working. We played around with the assembly of the tubing and got it to work, only to have it break down again a few nights later. We ultimately returned the unit, assuming it was defective, only to get a brand new one that also stops working on a regular basis. In short, I would NOT recommend this humidifier to anyone who wants a reliable unit that you know, actually functions. After using this product for about 6 months, and letting it run dry a time or two, I found that, as others have noted, the pump would lock up (with a loud "clack") and the water would stop flowing. I disassembled the pump and tried various fixes involving washers, but my thinnest washer was still too thick to let the impeller spin.I then had the idea of lubricating the impeller and the inside of the pump. I didn't have any silicone spray, but I did have a candle I used for fragrance. This humidifier worked fine for a few weeks, then the pump failed. I called up customer service and they sent a new pump. It ran another month and now this pump is failing. It's a poor design, the bushing on the pump rotor wears out and the pump rotor jams. I'm replacing the pump with a small table-top fountain pump. These last much longer under continuous use.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Honeywell Easy to Care Cool Mist Humidifier, HCM-750
We bought one of these near the end of November and were initially happy with it. I read some of the other reviews out here; we didn't have any issues with the motor, and didn't find it particularly noisy. It worked well for about two months. I took it apart and put the washable pieces through the dishwasher on a few occasions. The humidity in the house was finally hovering around 35-40%. No problems so far.The other day, I decided to relocate it. I picked it up and there was a huge wet spot on the carpet where it had been sitting. No good. Discount Bionaire BU498-U Portable Ultrasonic Humidifier
When I first placed the unit in the room, it ran whisper quiet. After two weeks of constant nightly use, it "rattles" when misting; the seal between parts no longer holds because water now pours through the juncture of parts. I exchanged it. Again, the unit worked well at first, but now after three months, the "rattle" and leakage is evident. I am thinking that regular use wears the parts too fast, maybe if I only used it once in a while. At the very least, I do like the design and the ease of set up. It may even be worth a round of replacement parts.
Cons: pain in the you know where to remove and snap reservoir contain in and out > need serious finger gripping power to pull reservoir up and out then need ESP to snap it back in > for some reason it does not go back in the same way it came out; bottom fill > reservoir-release-cap has three delicate little pegs that go into the container opening which needs a twist-turn to lock back in place > if any of the pegs snap there goes the humidifier.
Neutral: at low setting water reservoir lasts 9 hours, on high about 7-8 > I usually sleep 6 hours a day so this fine for me.
Note: humidifiers that draw air from the bottom > place a raised-metal-wire-net rack underneath device to elevate device to allow better air intake exit circulation.
Complete waste of money, I have returned it.

I have had it for 2 weeks, so I can't speak for the longevity, but it's very compact, good for use on an office on your desk. My only complaint so far is that on the low setting, the tank only lasts for about 5-6 hours, so you have to fill it twice for a typical work day. However because it's so small, it's not a big effort to carry it to sink to fill it. The only other downside, which doesn't matter if you are using it on a desk, is that if you are planning to use it in your bedroom at night, it does emit a bright little blue led light when on, which might irritate you in a dark room, but I guess you could cover that up with duct tape or something. It does make a little bit of noise, but not enough to bother me. Oh, and it wouldn't last all night, so I find myself when I get up to pee in the middle of the night, turning it off b/c it has run out. So, in summary, good for office desk, not for bedroom overnight.Honest reviews on Bionaire BU498-U Portable Ultrasonic Humidifier
In the beginning it worked exactly as stated in manual: 6 hours on 2nd setting and 10 hours on 1st setting. After 2 weeks it made a lot of noise and did not blow any mist at all. There is one part which collects mineral deposits which I tried to clean with supplied brush. I cleaned it for half an hour and could not get it off. I used vinegar, but it did not help much. I have noticed that other humidifiers do not even have that part, but blow the air directly, while this one redirects it. Also, the light is annoying, I covered it with tape after a few days.Complete waste of money, I have returned it.

I purchased this product from bed, bath and beyond, and after getting it set up, found that it leaked incessantly, to the point where after three attempts at use (all unsuccessful), coupled with reading the online reviews on this site (where the product has about a 2 star overall rating), I am happily returning this product.
