Discount LARGE Cigar Humidor Solution PG Propylene Glycol 50/50 Pre-mixed 16
Ive been smoking cigars for 16 years and for the last 3 have been using propylene glycol for my large humidor. I decided to use a different vendor, for what I thought was the same product, and was extremely disappointed. This product does not work effectively, and sadly I bought a bunch of it. I will probably pour it down the sink and go back to my old vendor.I went for the 16oz because it is priced cheaper than 2x the 8oz. I do not care whatsoever but people might want to know that it comes identical 8oz bottles, not one larger bottle.

Well, turns out that Amazon customers are supposed to seek resolution through Amazon rather than the seller's website. Being that this is my first time having to do so, I did not know that. Nonetheless, the Sain Store in charge of their Amazon Marketplace saw this review and reached out to me saying, "the website customer service you've contacted before was not in charge of Amazon's customers. They are in different department so that your problem was not solved in time. We sincerely apologize on their behalf." I stand corrected.
As to the issue of the instruction guide/manual, the Sain Store representative has been in contact with me repeatedly regarding this matter, offered sincere apologies and addressed the deficiency in the manual on several occasions, ending with, "I have forwarded your concerns about the manual to our supplier and they promise to improve it in the near future."
I must say here that despite my dissatisfaction with the manual which I feel rendered the product useless, I was GREATLY impressed with the diffuser itself. So I have decided that when I am notified of a manual update, I WILL ORDER THIS DIFFUSER AGAIN and give it another try. I'm actually quite anxious for that day and look forward to updating my review and rating!!
9/13/13: Meanwhile, I ordered the SainSonic® LM006 150ML Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser and absolutely love it!! Same great quality and easy to use. Highly recommended!
************ORIGINAL REVIEW (8/14/13)************
Having gone through so many poor quality diffusers, I moved away from purchasing less expensive models, and only considered those with a minimum 1-year warranty. However, the ability to control the lights, mist stream, and humidification modes, plus the negative ion function, small power adapter, quietness, product design, and availability through Amazon Prime made this diffuser attractive to me. So I took a chance on it.
The package arrived in two days. Everything was JUST as described. I was surprised to find the unit packaged with such care. The unit is VERY sturdy and well made. The quality materials used for the base, cover and nozzle exceeds that of all the diffusers I've EVER used, even more expensive ones. And it's beautiful to look at.
Some aspects of the setup were clearly consistent with other diffusers adding water to fill line, including a few drops of essential oil, placing the clear top and directional nozzle, and plugging in the device. Yet after 15 minutes, we realized the fragrance was unnoticeable unless standing directly in front of the nozzle. So, with much anticipation, I pulled out the instructions for clarification on that aspect as well as information on how to use the other features (humidify, anion, etc).
And sadly ... that. is. where. my. joy. ended.
The instruction 'booklet' is a little (read that: teeny tiny) 4-page thing with a nice diagram of the diffuser followed by incomprehensible English wording (see my photo on the main page). This fabulous device has several wonderful functions, yet the language in the booklet is so awful that two of us couldn't figure out how to make sense of them, and I'm fairly good at deciphering. It seems as if a mechanical/online translator was used. And too much was lost in the translation! Here's a sample directly quoted from the instructional guide:
"Main functions and characteristics
1. Infrared Sensor: It works with the technology-infrared sensor, the furthest distance is 3 meters, the biggest angle is 90.
It will work, when the human body is in 3 meters, with one sound-"Di", and it will stop work after working 5 minutes, with sound-"Di, Di", If the human body is still in the area, it will continue to work, repeat the above."
Here's more:
"Operation Guide
1. Open the cover, adding about 100 to 240 ML of water, if aroma oil, please join the appropriate amount of it, covered and connected to the power.
2. After power on, turn on the LED lights to the beating mode. Or you can refer to the LED function, adjusted to the lights you want. To open the anion, press left, then left light is yellow, which represents the negative ions are Operation, then click the left button to turn off!
...7. Negative ion, LED night light, humidifier timer mode is independent control, so you can choose according to your needs related functions. And function choice is as follows, Press anion button, the indicator lights yellow, anion open. If not open anion, the light does not shine."
On the same day that I received the diffuser, I went to SainSonic.com and found their contact form which states "Customer Service Working Time: Your inquiries and concerns will be responded within 24 hours". So I sent a message saying that I received the diffuser, and love it, but cannot understand the English instructions, and asked for their help with setup in order not to return the device. That was Monday afternoon. Today is Wednesday and as yet I've received no reply. This morning I went back to the website where I noticed a live chat feature. It was offline but said I could leave a message, so I did. I'm giving them until this afternoon to respond before I pack up this lovely diffuser and send it back for a refund.
I really want to love this diffuser but the unclear instructions and the lack of timely response as promised force me to give it a 3-star rating. If anything changes, I'll update this post.I'm using it all day and everywhere in my apartment. In living room, bedroom, bathroom and in the kitchen. :)

Contractor warned me that he was having issues with the Honeywell steam humidifier. Claimed I would be lucky if it lasted 3 years. Thinking I could live with 3 years, I had him install it. I really wanted a steam humidifier. Well, it last a little longer than 3 weeks. Contractor brought me a new one, and same thing. I am now in process of installing an Aprilaire which cost a few hundred more. Honeywell, you should pull this product from the market.
SOooo it's Truesteam or nothing. Let me say that it humidifies better than any other humidifier but it is NOT a set it and forget it product. First, it has to be installed correctly (esp.the wiring). If you have the chops do it fine , but otherwise get an HVAC dealer to do it for you. Second, get a Honeywell Reverse Osmosis Filter System (about $200 & easy to install)to go with it. This will save you time and $$ down the line. I went 2yrs without one and the scaling and cleaning and replacement of the water sensor unit ($60) each year was a pain...and my softened water is not that bad. Third, an probably most important, get to know your troubleshooting manual (Honeywell has a video that's pretty good as well [Google: Truesteam Tuneup]). If you don't you will have endless service calls because the warning lights go on and the unit stops working 2-4 times a season and you have to diagnose the problem. The blinking warning light system will tell you 95% of the time what the issue is by the # of blinks. Since I'm now an expert it's easy to get it going again.
Bottom line..I love the way it humidifies. Very even and efficient since my fan is on all the time. Better than Aprilaires I've owned. BUT.. you have to get to know the unit. If you don't you WILL get frustrated. I don't look forward to selling my house and explaining this to the new buyer.
UPDATE: I inquired about the APRILAIRE 800 Steam Humidifier (Hey..if it works better I'll try it) and was told by their #1 dealer in the area that the Aprilaire rep has told them to stay away from the unit...too many unresolved problems. Translation: endless service calls. Like with Truesteam the fixes are probably not difficult but the average homeowner doesn't want all the maintenance issues.
It is November and time to start humidifying in the house and the unit water sender is once again cracked and broken. So I have a truesteam unit mounted on the ducting doing nothing. My HVAC man is bringing another water sender which will likely be junk at the end of the season.
My advice to anyone thinking about buying the Honeywell Truesteam STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM IT! Save your money and look for something that is NOT made of plastic. I don't know about the Aprilaire units, but I think it's time to look at them. Honeywell should be ashamed of building this kind of garbage. I hope this review prevents at least one person from wasting their money on this product.

I had no option but to buy this product. My new furnace was in such a tight space that they could not install a conventional humidifier unless it voided it's warranty.SOooo it's Truesteam or nothing. Best Deals for Honeywell HM506H8908 Truesteam Humidifier, 6-Gallon
I had this for 3rd season. I installed it on my new house. The contractor just don't read manual and installed it wrong. They didn't follow the spacing required 3" around and 24" downstream. So I had them fix it. They change the location, but again, still not as required. They didn't had the 24" downsteam. It's more like 8" I have a horizontal duct and it needs to be about 24" clear. So for 2 years the humidifier was working hard to get the humidity level i set. Last night, I relocated the unit myself to the required spacing. Now, it works great. It gets to the humidity level i set a lot faster. So far, the plastic canister is holding up the heat. I don't see why it's a problem to some. A lot of coffee maker are made of plastic. Anyways, i'm happy with it now that I properly installed it. Now it works great.Honest reviews on Honeywell HM506H8908 Truesteam Humidifier, 6-Gallon
I bought this unit on the advice of my HVAC man in 2008. To be fair, and this is the only good thing I will say about this unit, it does a good job of humidifying the house WHEN IT WORKS! The damn thing is made of plastic and is CONSTANTLY splitting (water tank) and or cracking (senders) after every heating season. Something is always broken on this piece of s _ _ t. I have had 2 brand new units replace successive faulty units but they all end up falling apart again. What the hell was Honeywell thinking of when they made this thing out of plastic? It is November and time to start humidifying in the house and the unit water sender is once again cracked and broken. So I have a truesteam unit mounted on the ducting doing nothing. My HVAC man is bringing another water sender which will likely be junk at the end of the season.

Read the other reviews for this humidifier and you'll understand why it's a bad product. I'm on year 4 with mine. Its horrible to clean. The tank and seal already had to be replaced. Now, I get a water sensor error code that will require a call to the dealer. The parts warranty is 5 years which is good. The bad thing is it doesn't cover labor. I bought this to save water over the traditional water wasting type. What a horrible choice I made!Thursday, December 11, 2014
Review of Vicks Starry Night Cool Moisture Humidifier, Model V3700, 1 gal
I previously owned a Vicks cool mist humidifier, Vicks 1.0 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier. I bought the other one about two years ago and loved it but it had a lot of wear. I put this humidifier on a wish list and it was purchased for me. The thing that is great, it takes the same filters as my other humidifier which I still had left over, Protec WF2 Extended Life Replacement Humidifier Filter.
My older humidifier was very loud. You could not talk on the phone without the person hearing a very loud hum. I actually got used to it because I live next to an interstate and it was great white noise. This model you can barely hear on the two settings. One you can not even hear that it is on, the other you literally have to be standing right next to it to hear it. It is very silent which to some will be a pro not a con.
I have a newborn and she sleeps in a cradle next to my bed and I love to turn on the lights for her. It is a separate switch so you do not have to have it on while running the humidifier. In fact you can run it alone. I will warn you I find it rather bright. Also, most humidifier I have owned sit on a dresser of some sort so the lights are very close to the edge of the ceiling. I have to pull it out a bit so it can show more on the ceiling. I think that is a poor design flaw. I again think it is bright but turn it on for my little one. Sometimes I get up and turn it off since it can be annoying to see the lights if you are a light sleeper.
My biggest complaint right now is the fan. It does not make any noise but in winter you have to make sure it is not facing the baby or your bed. It blows a lot of air and in the winter it is cold! My bed is about 20 feet from the unit and I have to turn it completely to the side to avoid freezing in winter. I might like it come summer but right now it is very annoying.
I cannot speak for the added Vicks vapors since I have not needed them and they are not approved for newborn use. However, when she is sleeping in her crib and I feel congested I guarantee you I will use it. I have always used Vicks vapor rub or even Vicks Advanced Soothing Vapors Waterless Vaporizer on my night stand and they never fail.
Last, you can place ProTec PC-1 Humidifier Tank Cleaning Cartridge (Pack of 2) in the tank. I did so with my previous humidifier. However, it does scratch the heck out of the tank and makes it look very aged. It did seem to make the filters last longer, by about a week. However, I just use cold filtered water from my kitchen sink and I have not had any issues. Also, the lid is easy to remove and place on the base without any leaking.
As my second Vicks humidifier and for having a newborn you can't go wrong with this unit. I am very pleased and hope to get a few years out of it.
The stars it shone on our ceiling we really liked, btw. They change color and look pretty and relaxing.
If you need only a little bit of moisture, this might do the trick. For us, it'll have to go back.

We got this because our air conditioner was de-humidifying the air and we have acoustic guitars. When the humidity hit 30%, off we went to a local store for a cool humidifier. This was the only one they carried, so it's what we got. If you have a very small room, or don't need much humidity, this could be a useful item. Unfortunately that wasn't our situation. Having water sitting in our sink literally raised the room humidity more than this Vicks humidifier, and running the shower for 2 minutes does a better job of raising the humidity in our apartment. As far as I can tell, unlike other humidifiers with ultra sonic motors, this one just blows air across the water. If you hold a piece of paper in front of where the fan blows for a couple minutes, it doesn't get even slightly damp. I gather it puts out a max of just over a gallon a day half of what those cute animal humidifiers from Crane do.The stars it shone on our ceiling we really liked, btw. They change color and look pretty and relaxing.

My son loves this humidifier. We use it in the bedroom and it works great. It has 2 features that really set it apart. First, it projects stars on the ceiling which continuously change color. This is the fun part. Second, there is a slot inside where you can add a vicks mentol stick to help with congestion. It fills up the room with the menthol scent. You can turn any of these features off too. The only thing that would make it better would be if the stars could be set on a timer.Honest reviews on Vicks Starry Night Cool Moisture Humidifier, Model V3700, 1 gal

We bought this humidifier for our baby's room. We use it when he starts getting a cold and/or gets congested. Works great! I've heard of problems with humidifiers leaking or leaving a wet film on furniture. This one does neither. The starry night light and vapor pads are a nice addition as well.Thursday, October 30, 2014
Buy AOS 2055A Automatic Air Washer
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $385.00
Sale Price: Price Unavailable
Today's Bonus: 10% Off

For details, including photos of the internal workings of this evaporative humidifier, look for the 2055 AirOSwiss reviews done elsewhere on Amazon which has plenty of images of the inner workings. To summarize, it's an evaporative humidifier which works by drawing air in through the top via a fan then over a disk pack of about 10 slowly rotating plastic disks which dip into a pool of water, then the air exits the side carrying the humidified air.
Pros: No heated element to worry about overheating when it runs dry, no ultrasonic misting to leave water droplets on carpet/furniture, easy to clean, no filters to be replaced, and it traps air particles on the discs with the water so it does 'wash' the air.
Cons: Evaporative which means it cools (fine for the desert country, not so good in winter in the Midwest), no heating, and the fill valve on the water tank is the stupidest location you can imagine, so that at best you can fill it only 3/4 full.
The other con: They SAY on their website they have a 10 year warranty, yet when I got this thing from Bed Bath and Beyond the plastic shaft inside had corroded from time and was crumbling. It was a major effort to get these guys to agree to replace it. It is NOT SAID on their warranty, but apparently the 10 year warranty does not apply to the rotating disc set (surprise!). I told them they had better put that in writing if they don't want to tick off a lot more customers other than me. They eventually replaced it. Also note, the 10 year warranty does NOT apply to the water tank and its part . . .that's only 3 months.
For $260 bucks or more, the above limitations cut it to a 3 star, even though it's a reliable humidifier that cranks out the humidity from the unit with no filters and very little maintenance. As a personal aside, I can't stand the reviews which deride humidifiers because their hygrometers show no change. Humidifiers can only be evaluated by how quickly they put water into the air . . . the ultimate humidity change is depending on the room's air flow, items of absorbency, and atmospheric conditionsnone of which are in the control of a humidifier!
Air-O-Swiss has a tendency to slightly inflate the statistics for this product. The box claims that it operates on 20 W of power whereas the documentation admits that it actually needs 29 W on the highest setting. The noise level is stated as being below 25 dB; this may be true of the lower setting which is indeed very quiet, but the higher setting is well above this level although it is still quiet compared to most evaporative humidifiers. The water output is claimed to be up to 3 gallons but 2 to 2.5 gallons of output in a fairly dry room (RH of ~35) seems closer to the truth. Finally, the capacity of the storage tank is effectively only about 1.1 gallons because it is virtually impossible to fill completely. The actual performance statistics compare quite favorably with other humidifier designs so I don't see why the manufacturer feels the need to exaggerate.
The system is well designed, very quiet, easily cleaned, and provides a decent amount of humidification (of course, if you want to humidify a large home you should expect to need several of these units). This is the only humidifier I have owned that didn't occasionally leak. The primary deficiency is that it lacks a built-in hygrometer so it will only shut off when it runs dry. In practice, however, hygrometers are often very inaccurate so many products that include them are still not reliable enough to operate in an automated mode. It would have been nice if the unit had 3 speeds and a larger storage tank, but these are minor quibbles. This product sells for a premium price but it is a solid performer and is worth the cost.
It has had NO problems over the last 5 or so years. It is also very energy efficient and quiet and looks nice. The ultrasonic humidifier created too much white dust for me, and the mist could damage furniture. A wick humidifier caused some water damage on a floor after it cracked open.
You do have to clean the water out periodically by pouring it out and gently cleaning the base, and once every month or few months or so in the winter take all the discs out and wash them with something like ecover dish washing detergent and a sponge. I keep an upright piano in tune almost completely year round. I would recommend a second separate humidistat if you are tightly controlling the humidity in your home for a piano, or other such application. For just comfort, the built in humidistat is fine, though you have to increase the setting to a higher humidity setting in the winter to keep the same room humidity, and lower the setting or turn it off towards the spring/fall and summer.
He does have to clean it regularly to keep the scum and/or mold down. This would be true of any appliance of this type. Just be aware of that before you buy.

If you are in the market for a humidifier and are willing to pay a premium price the AOS 2055A merits serious consideration. If you are primarily interested in air purification you should look elsewhere; while air washers do remove a small percentage of large particles from the air (the rotating disk sweep some particles out of the air) they don't have the flow rate needed to compete with a good HEPA filter and they don't remove the full range of particle sizes a HEPA filter will. Additionally, a good HEPA filter will capture 80-99+% of the particles that enter the system (depending on the quality of the device) whereas there is no guarantee that a particle entering an air washer will make contact with one of the rotating disks. The primary benefits of the rotating disk design don't come from air purification but rather from the increased surface area available for evaporation that permits a smaller and quieter fan to be used in their design. Also, the action of the rotating disks helps prevent the water in the basin from becoming a stagnant breeding ground for mold, bacteria, etc.Air-O-Swiss has a tendency to slightly inflate the statistics for this product.

Purchased this about 5 years ago (or similar model with rotating discs and digital humidity reading) for about $350. As far as I can tell, this is the best humidifier on the market. Tried a few other models including heating element, ultrasonic. wick, and this is by far the best. Have run it almost non-stop in the winter for a number of winters, and also ran it a little bit in the summer if my room gets too dry with the air conditioners in a former apt that had underpowered AC. It has kept my room at about 40 percent year round. Like any other humidifier you can't have any drafts coming in from outside or a window open in the winter or it won't help you much.It has had NO problems over the last 5 or so years.
Honest reviews on AOS 2055A Automatic Air Washer
Not a bad unit, but small water tank. In my house I use two on the first floor, and I need to fill them each three times a day. As for "cleaning the air", I think that is definitely overblown. The ONLY thing I find in the base of the unit, which needs to be addressed not monthly as they state but weekly, is the calcium build up. No dirt in there, only crusted deposit from the water going through there.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for AOS 2055A Automatic Air Washer
My husband has severe allergies. He has used this brand and model of air cleaner for a long time. It helps keep the air in our bedroom in good shape and his allergies bother him less with it running. We even take it with us when we visit our families. He does have to clean it regularly to keep the scum and/or mold down. This would be true of any appliance of this type. Just be aware of that before you buy.

I love the look of burled wood. Has a neat character about it. It looks especially nice on my white bookshelf, where it fits perfectly. I wanted a humidor that has a top tray so I could have my nicest cigars on display when you first open the humidor, and the rest aging on the bottom. Seasoning was an easy process, and the sure seal lid technology definitely works. You can tell by dropping the lid closed and hearing the air get pushed out. My wife is an interior decorator, and she is the one who approved of this, I originally got some cherry wood glass top humidor with the dials on the front. But after getting this I agree with her, this is much nicer to display.
I like not having the analog hydrometer attached in any way since I am replacing it with a digital one, and I like not having the standard humidifier attached since I am using drymistat tubes. This should go without saying because of the price, but the burled wood is a wood veneer and not real, otherwise you'd expect to pay $1000 for something like this. But it looks really nice and the spanish cedar construction is obviously well made. This is a great looking, tight sealing humidor. It maintains the perfect level of humidity for my cigars in a very dry climate. I calibrated the hygrometer, following the "salt test" instructions provided, and it performs well. The only minor complaint is the weak double sided tape provided to hold the humidifier to the lid. Thanks for the fast delivery!

If you're looking for a nearly silent purifier, this unit does it. Granted you need to keep it on low for those super-quiet noise levels.
Pros:
* Filters extremely well
* Quiet
* Water tank easy to remove
* LED lights can be turned off
Cons:
* Water tank empties in 8 hours on low, less on higher fan levels
* Water tank doesn't have a handle for holding it "upside down" while filling. Makes it slightly more awkward when filling in the tub bent over.
* Unit is decent sized and is floor model. It's no huge, but it's not small either
The unit also has LED's the purport to tell you how "clean" the air is... how many particles are floating in the air. My house gets quite dusty, but I've still never seen the unit display anything but "all green" on this display. Perhaps it doesn't work on my unit, or perhaps it doesn't work well. And it's this gauge which makes the unit go into a higher fan mode when the air is dirty and the unit is in auto mode. So my unit never leaves low fan. So at this point I manually turn it to medium or high when I'm not in the room.
I'm not sure if it's worth the price here on Amazon, > $350 currently. But I also have never purchased another purifier. Maybe it does work much better than the competition and is worth that price. However I found the unit on clearance at Best Buy and paid less than $200. At that price point, I consider it a worthwhile investment.
Pro:
* The embossed front panel design looks clean and modern
* It has sensor that monitors air quality and humidity and adjust itself accordingly
* LED light's brightness can be adjusted and turned off
Con:
* The humidifying functionality is rather weak, it's not enough to replace my stand alone humidifier in the living room
* replacement filters are expensive, according to the manual the HEPA filter (around $100) and carbon filter (around $60) good for 5 years, humidification filter ($35) is good for 2 years. You can wash the carbon filter and humidification filter, but in my experience they can only be washed so many times before they wear out.
* These Sharp air purifiers are far from mainstream, makes me worried how long I'll be able to purchase the filters before they are discontinued
I'm tempted to -1 star for the lackluster humidification performance, but the unit is so well designed with great attention to detail comparing to everything else I've seen, it deserves a 5.
the units are silent and because the fans are " behind" the filters, should remain silent forever.
there are 3 stages of filters, a dust screen, particle filter and then HEPA. you will never need replacement filters, so dont be paranoid and buy spares or anything. every month you just vacuum the back of the unit to clean the dust filter. I also vacuum out the particle filter each month and sharp recommend washing it every couple of months.
we live in a dusty environment and we can " taste" the difference in the air with these running, they do an awesome job.
we have them running on automatic and to give you an idea about how sensitive they are to odors and particles in the air, in the morning when I spray deodorant ( in the connected bathroom), the unit detects it and goes overdrive!
I would recommend these to anybody, as im surprised how much they have improved our quality of living.
like a charm, delivering pure and clean air. Totally and completely recommend
buying it, worth every penny you pay for it. Morever, it is so easy to set it
up or clean its filters. Definitely a strong buy.

So many air purifiers in the $100 to $300 range are essentially the same thing: fan + HEPA filter + carbon pre-filter. You'd think for that much money there would be more to it. On top of that the designs are typically more industrial than consumer oriented. While Sharp KC-850U at its core is still just HEPA + carbon prefilter, it's leaps and bonds better in all the other regards than the market norms.Pro:

Cheap Cast Iron Wood Stove Steamer With Pine Cone Design, In Black
The size and weight of this steamer is just right. It doesn't need to be refilled as often compared to others we've had. The photo doesn't show how decorative, and attractive it really is. I would recommend this to anyone purchasing a steamer. You will be happy that you did.I purchased this as a gift for my Aunt. Won't really know how it works until next Fall/Winter, as it is too warm to start a wood-burning stove fire now.

Was trying to decide between the 500 and 600 models. They are basically the same, besides how much humidity they can add to the air. My home is about 3300 sq feet, and the 500 is rated for 3000 sq. feet. Another review stated the manufacture said that with a tight home you can bump up the rating by about 30%. Went with the 500 and I have no regrets. Install wasn't hard and wasn't easy either. I did use the hot water supply to the unit because I wanted to reach the max ratings. Also hooked it up so the blower could be activated by the humidistat. At first I was confused by the "improved" wiring diagram. I thought that you wouldn't be able to start the blower from the Thermostat. I was wrong because the thermostat just makes the call through the humidistat. Overall I am very satisfied with the product.
Pros:
Notice a huge difference in the comfort of my home in less than 24 hours.
No Bloody nose in the morning.
Was able to turn the Thermostat down about 2 degrees, because the wife said it felt warm. ;)
Cons:
I'm a very skilled workman and the install took longer than expected. Look at spending about 6 hours installing this product.
The transformer that was shipped with the product was DOA. No 24VAC out. Luckily I had a spare sitting around.
Pulled this off a review from the 600 model. Revised/Added a couple of items. It works for the 500 model as well.:
#8 self tap sheet metal screws at least 1.25 inch.
1/4" copper water line Home Depot sold it in a 10ft section.
1/2" ID clear vinyl tubing for drain
Clamp to attach the vinyl drain tubing to the humidifier
Small wire nuts
6" start collar for bypass connection I found a collar that included a 90 degree.
6" 90 degree elbow(s) for bypass connection
6" pipe for bypass connection. I purchased a 4 ft section and was plenty for a vertical setup.
18-2 thermostat wire (a few feet of 18-5 may be helpful to go between the humidifier and your furnace, but 18-2 will work there as well)
HVAC foil duct tape
Rubber weatherstripping to seal the 500 casing to the duct work.
The reason for only 3 stars: About 2 days after I installed it, the controller(Model 60) quit working. I do not work for a heating/cooling company, and the warranty expresses that it will be void if the unit isn't installed by a qualified tech. So, I took a look at the controller. -Found Vcc was only ~.2V. Rectifier and 24VDC okay. Found that D1(I believe 5.6V zener diode) had broken down. Even with a loupe, I had a hard time reading the number on the side of the diode, but by doing the math and figuring that Vcc would be typically 5v, I purchased a 5.6V zener NTE replacement diode(5.6v because the voltage will be dropped ~.6V from B-E of transistor in the regulation circuit). I replaced the zener diode, and the unit seems to be working fine now. Also, this was a surface mount diode that I replaced with an axial lead diode just have to solder carefully.
Hope this information can help someone else. The part only cost me ~$0.60, which beats paying ~$80 for a new controller.
One trick I can suggest is use a 10 wire line. You can use this to hook everything to the unit (including the thermometer). This will save you time from running a second or third line.
I used the extra wires in the line that runs to the A/C unit outside and hooked up the thermometer that way. This saved me from drilling holes and running extra line outside. I just used the screw that holds the A/C casing to hold the thermometer as well.
Overall, this is not a hard product to install but you do need to understand wiring (low voltage) and how to cut ducting.

I was questioning my decision to purchase a bypass wholehouse humidifier with an automatic control. An HVAC guy gave me great advice. The automatic control should only be used in areas of the country that have high humidity. Here in Utah the manual control would work just fine. Nowhere on YouTube or other literature did I hear such advise. The HVAC fellow saved me $50. Also, even with a bypass wholehouse humidifier I will see the humidity level to get around 35%. If I wanted a higher level of humidity then a steam wholehouse humidifer is the only option. The cost of a steam version is just too costly. The HVAC fellow said most people in Utah will be happy with the 35% level. Finally, the HVAC fellow said Trane humidifiers are really Aprilaire products.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Aprilaire 500 Humidifier, 24V Whole House Humidifier w/ Auto
