I have a cool-mist humidifier that my son purchased for me quite a few years ago. As I used the newest cartridge, I wanted to buy another to have on hand, but I could not find one. I decided to look at the Amazon web site and sure enough, there was the cartridge I needed. It is not the same brand name, but is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!

I liked the fact it fit perfectly in place and restored the operation of the humidifer. I left the old one in too long and performace really degraded

LG Electronics LD451EGL 45-Pint Dehumidifier Reviews
Bought this item at a local retailer. Overall, it works and sucks a good amount of moisture from the basement. I purchased the low-temperature version (overkill) and figured it would work better in a cool basement. I am not disappointed with the dehumidifying performance of this unit. However, it seems like LG designed this unit to run excessively so it will wear out and force you to buy a replacement (details below).
PROS:
1. Not as heavy as the box would have you believe and I was able to carry this down to the basement myself. Fairly easy to move around, even on carpet.
2. Tank is easy to remove, empty, replace ... and repeat daily.
3. After a week, it's not too loud, even when sitting a few feet away.
4. Controls are simple and straight-forward to use.
CONS:
1. Unless I put it on delay, it will kick on every few minutes. Not sure if it's testing the air or something, but this can be ANNOYING.
2. When I put it on delay (2 or 4 hour), it sometimes ignores that it's on delay and runs anyway. It's like the door-close button on most elevators -it's there for decoration more than function.
3. Even though I had the unit set to 50% humidity, the room felt too dry and the unit was still running. I have a separate humidity gauge in the room and it read 43%. Makes me wonder if the internal gauge works at all or if it is just there to humor me.
CON #4. I've hooked up a short garden hose so that I don't have to drain it every night. Instead of simply threading the hose onto the back of the unit, you have to thread it onto a plastic tube that you then insert into the machine. This connection doesn't lock into place, and even if the connection is snug, if the hose moves, it disconnects inside the machine. I then have to remove the bucket to re-align it. With kids in the house, I'm afraid that if the bump into the machine or kick the hose at all it will disconnect internally. Even worse, it was a challenge to position the hose because every time it turned, the internal connection turned and disconnected.
*UPDATE*
I originally posted that I would be returning the unit because of the flawed hose hookup. On the advice of someone else, I instead attached a black poly tube and secured it with a hose clamp directly to the machine and bypassing the hard plastic adapter. My out of pocket cost was $0, but you could make this modification yourself for

I live in the Las Vegas Desert with some of the worst water quality. My Vicks Humidifier is a must but the water causes the filer to build up with what is probably a colorful mixture of minerals. So far this is my analysis. It does seem to slow down the filter calcification that I used to scrape almost weekly. But that unnecessary pink dye makes this product to where you must handle it as if it were bleach. It stains everything including the machine its used in. I accidentally knocked the bottle over resulting in a hard time cleaning a difficult stain on my carpet and not much had spilled. Ill use this up but most likely will never buy it again because of the dye. Instead I'll search for another product with the same active ingredients but clear in color. The spill was my fault 100% but I can't imagine what's in there that made the color settle so quickly.

Tried this for the first time and it does seem to help a lot. The water here is not terribly hard ,but the filter will calcify rather quickly in the winter. The use of this treatment has cut down the need to clean the filter with vinegar as often and extended the life of the filter.Best Deals for BestAir 1T-6 Humiditreat Extra Strength Humidifier Water Treatment
IT DOES A GOOD JOB REMOVING IRON AND CALCIUM FROM THE WATER ESP IF YOU HAVE HARD WATER. ONLY BAD THING IS THE PINK DYE STAINS YOUR TUB/GROUT DONT SPILL IT! AND YOU DONT NEED MUCH. ADD IT AFTER OTHERWISE IT FOAMS UP WHEN ADDING WATER.Honest reviews on BestAir 1T-6 Humiditreat Extra Strength Humidifier Water Treatment
So I accidentally bought this without looking at the enlarged picture and the details on the product page stating this cannot be used with an ultrasonic type of humidifier. Whoops. Fortunately it wasn't all bad and a wasted purchase like I thought. I'm able to use this in my swamp cooler with no adverse effects. The scale buildup and sludge collects in the bottom and all I have to do is give it a quick flush refill and add some more of this water treatment.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for BestAir 1T-6 Humiditreat Extra Strength Humidifier Water Treatment
I live in New York, where we're snooty about our water, but I was replacing humidifier wicks every few weeks, making my humidifier an expensive proposition. This stuff makes wicks come back from the dead! If the wick gets dry because the water is used up, I re-soak it, turn it upside-down, and use about a teaspoon per gallon each time I refill the water. The little meter goes from the red zone back into the OK zone.Sunday, May 18, 2014

Great that this is a two pack. They suggest replacing every couple months. I just let one go through the heating season. I do not have hard water. When I check it, if it's a little dirty, I place in flat pan with water and lime away and soak for about 15 minutes before rinsing. I then let dry for a day. It may make it another season after that. Now I don't have to worry.Honest reviews on BAYPAD01A1010A American Standard Humidifier Replacement Water Panel

A filter isn't a complicated endeavor, so it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg. That's why I like these. I bought a size too big accidentally, but cut it down to about half and its works just fine.

Completely sufficient. Not too much to say, it's a humidifier "filter" replacement. It wicks the water up into a mesh structure that allows the air passing over it to provide humidity to the room.Best Deals for BestAir D11-C Duracraft Replacement Wick Filter

I had my service technician replace my filter pad last year and watched how it did it. Then I saw what it cost me to have him do it. This product is perfect. It is the actual Honeywell filter pad and has the complete instructions on how to change the filter. It was easy to do and will be even easier the next time now that I have done it once. And, much less costly than paying someone else to do it.

Bought these from a supplier that did not explain in advance that the filter is covered in a white clay which lead to some unpleasant back and forth charges of selling used merchandise. OK, I have had this humidifier for about two months now. Make sure you are aware of the requirements of a filter-free humidifier before you buy one. First of all, I couldn't stand having a filtered humidifier. Constantly having to buy filters, they'd be out of stock at Target, unavailable for my brand at the supermarket, just too annoying, and honestly, they're several bucks every time. Why can't I just clean my own humidifier?
So here's the thing. If you opt to go filter free, read the documentation. I think a lot of the negative reviewers here aren't following the instructions... you have to clean your humidifier ONCE A WEEK. Some people are reporting, 'I have had my humidifier for a month and it's starting to stink.' Well, have you cleaned it four times since you've had it?
And yes, I would say, it's a bit of stretch to call this whisper quiet. Like any device running while you're trying to sleep, you're going to hear it. And when you're lying down trying to fall asleep, anything can sound like a freight train. But yes, I would not call this whisper quiet. It's just as loud as any other humidifier I've experienced. Being someone who likes to sleep in pitch dark, though, I'd say the very bright on-light is more annoying than the sound. I find the whisping whirr of it quite calming.
And the bottom line here is, I've slept wonderfully since I bought it. I wake up and find that I've been breathing through my nose instead of mouth-breathing like I had been. Because my sinuses are staying open and moistened.
So there you have it. If you want to go filter-free, you're taking on the task of cleaning it. Three quick release screws, soaking the base and intake tube in white vinegar, rinsing, putting it back together.
FYI, in the last couple of weeks I have purchased a Crane humidifier which doesn't require a filter either (unless you have hard water), for less money, and so far I haven't had any issues with it. It does its job perfectly! From now on, I will not be purchasing any more Vicks/Kaz products due to their complete lack of concern that they have sold a health hazard and aren't taking any responsibility to rectify the situation.
I contacted Kaz who makes the unit. They said they would replace it but I'd be out of a unit for 6-8 weeks and I'd have to pay shipping costs. They will not replace it with another unit so I'm sure the same problem will reoccur. I decided to clean the unit the best that I can (this took 2 hours) and use liquid bacteriostatic water treatment instead of the worthless Protect cartridges. I hope this works.

For me this has worked perfectly for months now, keeping the air in the room with my guitar at just the right humidity. I bought mine elsewhere but have had others and this one works just fine if you know what you are doing and take precautions. Not for every one, but for most, the red / orange is not mold but iron in your water. For most but not all, the white powder is lime in your water. This is a fact of life for many areas of the country and why people use water filters and water softeners. If you are in a problem area, use a Brita pitcher to filter the water you fill it with. I have tried it with our softened water with no problems but we recently got rid of the softener and will soon be switching to truly filtered water for the entire house. Until then I use a filtered water pitcher. All humidifiers have this problem. Even Consumers gave none more then an average rating for this problem. Baking soda, light bleach mixture, special cleaner, or just let it completely dry out once in a while and you, as I am, will probably be happy with the unit. Mine is still running clear and clean. For the money, this one ca't be beaten.Best Deals for Vicks V4500 FilterFree Humidifier
As so many others have stated, this product is a complete waste of money, and, I believe, a health hazard. If I could give it "0" stars I would. Despite my best efforts to use filtered water, a ProTec cartridge, and disinfect all reachable parts on a weekly basis with vinegar and/or bleach, mold has grown in the motor housing that is impossible to reach in order to properly sanitize this product. After contacting Kaz, I was told the same thing as so many others (I was hoping maybe they had changed their policy), that I would have to send the item back on my own dime, just to receive the same piece of junk as a replacement. Then, once I received the new one, I should "empty all the water from the tank and base (daily). Then run the unit without any water in it for at least 1 hour to dry the fan housing. If you do not want to run the unit without any water I would just remove the fan housing and unscrew the bottom cover and lay the fan housing on its side so it can air dry." Yeah, like I have the time to do that every day with two small children and one on the way. So this humidifier will probably end up in the trash, a waste of $45 + tax.FYI, in the last couple of weeks I have purchased a Crane humidifier which doesn't require a filter either (unless you have hard water), for less money, and so far I haven't had any issues with it. I would recommended this humidifier. It is pretty quiet, and I have it running all night to humidify the air. I can put the tray in the dishwasher to clean. No filter needed. I am not sure what the negative opinions that I read other readers write are all about. It is not been my experience. Yes, you need to clean it. But you have to clean all humidifiers. This one is easier than others though. It got a great report from Consumers Report, and that has been my experience as well.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Vicks V4500 FilterFree Humidifier
I've had this unit for five months and dropped the Protect cartridge in there every month on the 12th to keep it clean. Despite these efforts, it has developed a pink film along with black mold that you can smell when it operates. I'm having trouble breathing. The area that is affected is IMPOSSIBLE to get to in order to clean it even with pressurized air. My unit has also flooded on two occassions destroying everything on my dresser.I contacted Kaz who makes the unit.
