I live in the Las Vegas Desert with some of the worst water quality. My Vicks Humidifier is a must but the water causes the filer to build up with what is probably a colorful mixture of minerals. So far this is my analysis. It does seem to slow down the filter calcification that I used to scrape almost weekly. But that unnecessary pink dye makes this product to where you must handle it as if it were bleach. It stains everything including the machine its used in. I accidentally knocked the bottle over resulting in a hard time cleaning a difficult stain on my carpet and not much had spilled. Ill use this up but most likely will never buy it again because of the dye. Instead I'll search for another product with the same active ingredients but clear in color. The spill was my fault 100% but I can't imagine what's in there that made the color settle so quickly.

Tried this for the first time and it does seem to help a lot. The water here is not terribly hard ,but the filter will calcify rather quickly in the winter. The use of this treatment has cut down the need to clean the filter with vinegar as often and extended the life of the filter.

IT DOES A GOOD JOB REMOVING IRON AND CALCIUM FROM THE WATER ESP IF YOU HAVE HARD WATER. ONLY BAD THING IS THE PINK DYE STAINS YOUR TUB/GROUT DONT SPILL IT! AND YOU DONT NEED MUCH. ADD IT AFTER OTHERWISE IT FOAMS UP WHEN ADDING WATER.

So I accidentally bought this without looking at the enlarged picture and the details on the product page stating this cannot be used with an ultrasonic type of humidifier. Whoops. Fortunately it wasn't all bad and a wasted purchase like I thought. I'm able to use this in my swamp cooler with no adverse effects. The scale buildup and sludge collects in the bottom and all I have to do is give it a quick flush refill and add some more of this water treatment.

I live in New York, where we're snooty about our water, but I was replacing humidifier wicks every few weeks, making my humidifier an expensive proposition. This stuff makes wicks come back from the dead! If the wick gets dry because the water is used up, I re-soak it, turn it upside-down, and use about a teaspoon per gallon each time I refill the water. The little meter goes from the red zone back into the OK zone.
