First I think it is very much over priced. In this case quality and price were not directly proportional. There are units at less than half the price that are of equal, or better quality. The unit arrived three days after the expected arrival date range from "As Seen on TV". I should have know better then to buy from them. Based on what I have seen in stores these products are of low quality and people who are heavy TV user are probable mesmerized into buying this stuff. If you are use to low noise and light levels don't buy this product. It makes a bubbling nose like a cat licking itself excessively and it has a blue light that is very distracting. If you overlook the above it does do what it says.

I purchased this when I lived in Colorado, aka The Land of Zero Humidity. It's a gorgeous humidor, suitable for display in a living room, dining room, or library. It's very well-made and has lots of storage space. I especially like that it has a shallow upper shelf that is perfect for small cigars (it also fits regular size cigars). It also has two separators, one for the upper shelf and one for the main compartment. The lock is a nice touch, too.

The reason I give this 4 stars versus 5 is because it took a long time to get the humidor seasoned and stable. The size is perfect and the look is nice. I tried a few other "methods" of seasoning with no luck I went with the Boveda 1 step seasoning kit.

The quality seems to be solid. I have around 30 50 sticks in this baby now. I would recommend this humidor if you are looking for a 150+ capaciy humidor.

everything was fine, the humidor is more than beautifull, very well made in a solid wood (not perfect, have a littles details), the seal is perfect, very well balance of the top. it really go over my spectations (for the price of course). I wanted to buy a dehumidifier for my bed room as it gets humid when it rains outside, feeling damp cold. This seems to be the smallest and thinning one on the market. After running it for all day, the tank became a half full of clear water. So, it is working fine. It has an automatic internal switch between running fan and dehumidifier probably depending on moist in the air. When a fan turned to a dehumidifier, it makes noise loud enough to wake me up. So, I cannot run this while sleeping unfortunately. Also, the device heats up quickly and air becomes warm. So, it works better in the winter. It consumes 190 watt while dehumidifying, but I am certain it is less when only a fan is working.

We placed this in a 320' circular dome in our yard. It has tile flooring installed directly on concrete. After the tremendous rains this season, our whole yard became saturated and we started noticing condensation on the flooring and walls in that room. We started running this unit in early January, 24/7 (well, nearly), and it's still running today. We do turn it off for a few hours while we are out there, due to the noise. It's not bad, but I find it's too loud for prolonged exposure. I'm hoping eventually we'll be able to turn it off for longer periods, but for now, it's working wonders in there. Several times the auto-stop has kicked on because it was full and needed to be emptied so I'm glad that feature works as advertised. It's very easy to dump the water and reinsert the collection bucket. It's amazing how much moisture this has collected ... guessing up to 5 gallons/mo.

Our electricity usage and bill has gone up, but it's hard to tell just what it is costing to run because we have solar power and much of this time has also coincided with rainy days which means less sun for our solar system and more money out of pocket, even without this extra usage from the dehumidifier. I just look it as an investment toward avoiding the hassle and repair costs we'd have if not for using the dehumidifier.

UPDATE Jun 2011: After a couple more billing cycles, and lots of sunshine for our solar system, I can see that our usage is pretty much normal compared to our previous history shown on the bill (and we are still running this 24/7), so whatever power this baby is drawing is costing us a reasonably low amount of money to use it.

We purchased one of these for our older daughter's room and it worked well, so well that we bought a second one for our other daughter's room. But within weeks the first one began to rattle. Over a year's use the rattle became noisier and noisier. One year later, it stopped working totally and we have since replaced it with a Soleus Air CFM-40 40-Pint Dehumidifier--Amazon sells it for about the same price and it is INCREDIBLY quiet--so much so that I have just bought a second one to use in my own bedroom at night.

The second unit is still working, but it too is becoming noisier and we have noticed that the green power light is fading. I fully expect to have to replace this one as well.

It's a pity because these units DO work well and they are wonderfully compact--why we bought them in the first place.

But they clearly can't take long term heavy duty use.

The environment is on average 80% humid (and 120 degrees :-P) but my room stayed around 20% to 30% (which is not significant). I saw a review that complained of having to empty it constantly. THATS A GOOD THING! This unit is a workhorse. I approve this message.

I have a full bathroom with no exhaust fan...I hooked one of these up to a GE in-wall timer....it works great...it would seem to me, that running a dehumidifier on a timer, instead of humidistat, is the way to go...My favorite thing about this unit is, it's 180 Watts!!! Find another compressor driven dehumidifier with that low of operating wattage...just try! I'm thinking of buying a second AD250, and replacing the brand new 50 pint Winex(480 WATTS) in my basement...the Winex has all these features, but I have it running on a 3 hour interval timer...otherwise it just runs all the time,"off and on","off and on"..again and again...also,Winex support is not very good, in my opinion...but I digress...the AD250 was just what I wanted.Wish I would have found this first...

For those reviewers who have complained that this device does not stick, you should read the instructions!! I don't think you guys are giving the adhesive time to set. You can't just stick the metal to the wood and then stick the CM directly to it within seconds. It has failed every time I have ever tried to attach a humidification device to any of my humidors. If you read the instructions they tell you to adhere the metal square first and let the adhesive set before trying to attach the cigar mechanic device to it. I let mine set for 24 hours before I tried to attach it and it works beautifully!!

Bought this, thinking that I'd be receiving the large rectangular Cigar Mechanic humidifier, but much to my dismay what I received was the small round 25ct capacity humidifier, which was marked on the box by a sticker stating "large humidifier". Suffice to say I was far from pleased; however I ended up putting it to use in one of my humidors (24).

This humidifier is pretty easy to use and it works ok. However, I just looked in my box a few days a go and found a ton of mold growing on the bottom shelf. I also had a cigar ruined recently due to mold. Will have to keep looking for a better solution.

After dealing with the mold issue, I tried raising the unit off the wood panel of my humidifier by 1/2 inch. I've gotten no mold since then and am keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

After doing a LOT of reading/research on portable humidifiers, i decided on a Holmes unit. Unfortunately, it appears that Holmes is no longer making the large (whole-house) size units any more. There were a few still on Amazon, but one was over $200, not in my budget. This one was more reasonable, but didn't have many reviews, so knew it was a bit of a gamble. But everything else I've read about similar Holmes humidifiers of this size/type were good. The positives and negatives I read on other units seem consistent with this unit.

Positives:

Overall, it seems like a well-built unit, not flimsy. Vapor output is substantial. It does a good job of keeping the first floor of our 2500 sq. ft. home above 50%, and that is with the forced hot air furnace blowing dry, hot air all the time. It holds enough water to run 24 hours non-stop before refilling. Has a built-in humidistat, (not sure of accuracy, but seems close.) Has an indicator light for when it needs re-filled.

Negatives:

Auto-setting is not great. As has been said elsewhere auto mode allows it to cycle on and off when it reaches a desired humidity level. But when it gets there, it cycles on-and-off non-stop. Seems like this would be hard on the motor. But I knew this going into the purchase, and just figured on turning on/off manually (like all our old humidifiers), so this was not a deal-breaker for me. Water tanks are not flat on top, so when you re-fill, you have to help hold them up, or they could fall over and crack. This isn't really that big a deal either, but it could have been more convenient. (Tanks are on the left & right sides of the unit in the photo.)

That's pretty much it. Unit comes with wheels that snap in on the bottom, which seem sturdy. But I've read that people have had these snap off on some units (not on a Holmes, but still made me nervous), so we don't wheel it around.

On other thing to be aware of. The directions say to place this on an interior wall. I believe that's to prevent condensation on a cold exterior wall (or inside the wall?). We didn't have a lot of interior wall space that was free. So, if that's an issue for you, just something to consider.

Overall, despite a couple of minor (for me) issues, I feel like this is a well-made unit that should last for many years. Not a cheap/disposable piece of plastic junk that so many manufacturers are putting out these days. Noise from the unit seems a little louder than on a room-size unit, but we have it a room we don't watch tv in, so that's not an issue for us. On Low, it's not bad at all, but on Medium, it would be distracting, and on High, would really interfere with watching tv. Again, I don't think it's abnormally loud for the size of the unit, just something to be aware of.

We have had this unit for about 6 weeks. It's very easy to operate & move to different locations. It has a great filter indicator which displays when it needs to be changed. The water tanks need to be filled every other day. Cleaning the unit is very easy as well. There is a humidity indicator on the main panel. We do not run the unit during the day so in the morning we can see that the humidity level has risen from the high 40s to well into the 60s. We live in Arizona and it becomes very dry here during the winter season. This QUIET humidifier does the job in keeping sinuses, nasal passages moistened. Our brother-in-law who lives in Denver, Co (very,very dry) had the unit and was very happy with it. Since he is a respiratory therapist we thought that his recommendation and experience was was quite a positive review in our decision to purchase the unit. We were surprised by very negative review. We only use the unit on the constant cycle of 1(lowest cycle) and have not had a problem. We do agree the intermittant cycle would be annoying. We HIGHLY recommended this Holmes unit.

Purchased this model about a year ago. When using it in 'automatic' mode, the entire unit cycles (turns on & off) every 1 to 2 seconds. It's annoying & I can't see it lasting very long cycling so often. Called customer service & they said this is how it's supposed to work. Apparently Holmes doesn't know how to make a unit that has a buffer zone in it where it would turn on at say 30% and off at 35% humidity depending on what it's set at.

An amazing total of 4 ounces of product! It will take forever for me to use all this. It's a true lavender smell, but a tad harsh to me. The variety of lavender used in the oil makes a big difference in the final product's fragrance. I blend it with a bit of ylang ylang oil for a softer, prettier fragrance. I've purchased essential oils on the internet for years. This is my first purchase on Amazon. These bottles have a plain cap, and are not packaged with droppers, wands or pipettes. It's up to the buyer to find a way to dispense a few drops of product, and I've had no luck finding droppers or pipettes for a 2 ounce bottle on Amazon. This would get another star if the seller packed it with something to use to dispense the oil.

This is a very good value for the money oil. This brand has me hooked. This exact lavender oil has a very enticing fragrance, and very strong. It needs dilution if you are using it in anything other than a misting humidifier.

So, if you want to know about the product, it was great. Just as specified. But I am thrilled I got the 2 pack because when I had them sent to my girlfriends house as a surprise, I got a soaking wet box, with one bottle destroyed. When I tried to return it, I was told that only the original box (which was unusable) was permitted. Lame. Anyway, the product worked well, but definitely get the 2 pack!

While I admit Boveda packets are the snobby way to care for our humidors ( they are ALOT more expensive then simple sterile water and gel solutions) they are so much simpler to maintain.

Just pop the necessary number into your humidor, I have found in my home with forced air heat that 4 packets work best in my small humidor (it holds 150 cigars) I put 2 in the bottom area and 2 in the top and they last about 50 days. I do not have to constantly top off the moisture as I do with the gel containers and it does hold the humidity between 72-74% on average.

If you have some extra money to spend I definately suggest using these as they are perfect for the lazy smoker who does not want to bother with weekly fillings of other humidity sources.

However, they are expensive. Its like a 'Dixie Cup', you 'use it' and throw it away. You can't wash it, and use it again.

If I throw one of these in my humidor I can rapidly tell how fast moisture seeps out, one is only lasting about 2-3 weeks. It's a great plus to understand my humidor needs help, but I'm not sure I want to start using these to maintain it. Overall, they seem to work just fine, can't attest to how precise it works.

I guess my wood stove top doesn't get hot enough to boil the water. I have a pretty big wood stove. I am sure that if used on the smaller stoves it would get hot enough to steam, especially if it is only filled about half full.

Has worked very well so far. My daughter's room is 11 X 11 and the output control on this does the work well. I use a rubberized sheet on the carpet under the humidifier. The unit is simple enough to clean. And I use vinegar to clean the inside container. My wife and I are very happy with the purchase.

I love the quiet, cool mist. Great for bedside or desk top at work. I would like the tank to be a smidgen larger but then it wouldn't be so amall. At work I have to fill using a gallon jug so the small fill hole can be tricky. At home the fill hole is perfect for a sink faucet. The tank lasts about 8 hours full blast. The adjustable mist control is also a plus.

The product looks great and kids will love it however it does not work ... I filled the product with water, turned it on and the light turned green and the vapor started blowing then within a few minutes the water soaked all the way through the humidifier and cam out around the power button and feet of the puppy. Needless to say my daughters bedroom floor is soaked with water and the humidifier is going in the garbage.

We purchased this item for our granddaughter's room. She is only 3 months old and so we thought this would be a good gift for Christmas. They live 3 hours away and we took it out there in the middle of December so that it could be used right away. When my son took it out and set it up it didnt work! We are going out there 2 weeks after Christmas to get it so that we can return it. I told them to purchase something else so that they would have something for her room now while she needs it. Loved the looks and the idea for a humidifier but disappointed that it didnt work.
