I recently got a great new humidor for my cigars and I live in Colorado. It's almost impossible to keep the humidity up so I've been known to use a shot glass full of distilled water, drymistat tubes and several other options (all at the same time) to try and keep it up. The idea of an automatic humidifier appealed to me, but I didn't like the aesthetics of using a plug-in one and snaking the cable on the wall.

The Cigar Oasis appealed to me because it comes with both a battery pack and a power cord (with a small ribbon cable that can fit between the hings on your humidor).

I put new batteries in, set it to 70 and let it sit in my humidor for a week. My hygrometer in my humidor never went above 60, even tho the Cigar Oasis said it was 80%. I contacted support and they said it was set to 70% at the factory and that I should try it plugged in but that if I was confident in my hygrometer reading it included instructions for how to recalibrate it. I did that and messed with it daily for the next week or so and it never really helped.

2 weeks in it ran out of water (supposed to last at least 3 months). I refilled it with distilled water and the next day the batteries died (supposed to last 3-6 months).

I finally gave up and plugged it in. A couple days later it seems to be running perfectly, altho I now need to recalibrate it again. I hate the look of the plug, but what are you going to do?

So, end result, it works great plugged in. On batteries it sucks power and never quite works right.

I buy these humidifiers because they are easy to clean & maintain, and they broadcast a nice mist.

There are no gooey-feeling in-the-water-filters to clean or replace. There is one little filter that cleans the air before it enters into the humidifier, but other than that there is none. It doesn't touch the water.

I have used these humidifiers to put in about 3 drops of essential oil to broadcast through my home daily. They work wonderfully. They are much cheaper than the expensive machines made for essential oils & I think they do a better job.

I have been using these humidifiers for years. I hope they don't stop making them!

By error, I received Kaz 4100 instead of Kaz4100K. The earlier model that I received lacked on and off switch, adjustable grill and two speeds. Nevertheless, I love the simplicity of this humidifier: filling machine from top without having to remove a tank, very very quiet and complete instructions such as "break in characteristics, maximum output will not be reached until unit has been used several times." Thnk you, Kaz!

My 15 month old daughter has a lot of sinus issues, so it's imperative that we run a humidifier in her room every night. The first humidifier I bought for her was the Kaz/Vicks 4100 impeller humidifier, and while I'll admit that it puts out a lot of mist and humidifies the room very well, it's nearly impossible to clean fully.

My biggest complaint is that a lot of the spinning and moving parts are encased in a plastic housing that you can't get into, and when I finally unscrewed the housing, the inside was caked in pink mold. Now, when I say I "unscrewed" the housing, I don't mean with a normal screwdriver. The screws are a special shape to keep people from being able to unscrew them and open the housing. Luckily, I had the appropriate screw tip in my toolbox, but when I opened up the housing, I was horrified by what I saw. This product is designed in such a way as to limit your ability to access and clean the most vital moving parts, so it is effectively a mold growing and mold spewing machine.

The mist output is great, but if the mist is spraying mold spores into your child's room, I'm thinking that's probably not a good thing. Ya think?

P.S. Consumer Reports rated the Safety 1st Ultrasonic 360 Degree Humidifier as one of their "Best Buys," and boy did they hit the nail on the head. I just bought one, and couldn't be happier with my choice. It costs $30, doesn't use filters, it's easy to clean, and the mist output is perfect. Having "been there" and "done that" with all these humidifiers, I can safely say that I'm finally satisfied with my purchase. Save your money on this one, and go buy the Safety 1st instead.

I have a two year old and a six month old that share a room, and both are congested with dry noses. This product is great for their room-it's whisper quiet (I would not put anything in their room that would chance waking them up-I like my sleep too!)and simple to use, no buttons, difficult filters. If I need to, I can sneak into their room and add water without having to take anything apart that might wake them. Just an easy, reliable product. I've had it for over a year now and is still as great as the day I bought it. I do clean and replace water daily, so that might be contributing to it's maintinence. To the lady with the black slimy water: Ewww! A filter isn't a magic wand, you have to do some manual upkeep yourself!

I just got this little case/ humidor and it works great. its of a hard durable plastic that even dropped several times it wont crack. the humidifier is in the bottom and is great for travel. Not quite a sustainable humidor but its not really made for that. also the cutter that it comes with is like the 50 cent cutters but it is acctually made of a thicker plastic and the blades are heavier and much sharper. I feel I got a better product than i anticipated. I am deffinatly satisfied..... sorry for my bad spelling.

These items are fine for the price you pay. The case feels a bit cheap, does not seem airtight or waterproof and does not fit cigars 50 or above. Also, because of the shape, box-pressed cigars fit funny. I haven't a reliable way to test the case's humidification ability but I would not rely on it to keep my sticks fresh. However, because the plastic is rugged enough, I can throw this case in my bag or even in a jacket pocket for a day or three. The cutter is your standard, plastic model and is probably best as a last resort.

The case has a very tight fit, so it is somewhat difficult to open and close. Also, the built-in humidifier tends to leak so I don't use it. Not a bad product but not exactly what I was hoping for.

Again, for this price, what do you expect right? The cutter is flimsy & not really sharp. I expect it to fall apart soon. As for the case, i'm impress! It's tight, toss it around & it keep the cigars well. I've yet to figure out how to work the humidifier, but for the price you pay for these 2 items, i thought the package is worth 4 stars.

This water treatment for humidifiers is called Golden Solution, and I have been using it in my Vornado 4.2 gal. humidifier each winter since 2005. Just one ounce per two gallons of water keeps mineral deposits from forming on the water tanks and wicks. Two gallons of Golden Solution last one winter in my apartment. The wicks last two months instead of one, due to the use of the Golden Solution.

Last winter I bought bacteriostat from Holmes. This container is easier to pour and is narrow, so it is easy to find a place for it on the shelf. It has worked well for one month for my humidifier (not an ultra-sonic humidifier). I put about a capful in for each refill.

I've used this product for years and it will really keep the mineral deposits and mold levels to a minimum if used regularly. It also makes cleaning up your humidifier a lot easier because there's less to clean up.

I not the brightest bulb in the box and, I probably could have found out before I purchased that the humidifier does not come with a mounting device. Just as well, I made a cage to house it on the inside cover of my humidor. My criticism is the quality of the machining of the device. Two plastic lids cap the ends of a, I assume aluminum, housing. The problem there is too much tolerance and one cap does not stay in place. It gives it a cheapness that I am sure was not intended. Also, the sponge looks like it was cut with a serrated knife. Again, it does not really broadcast quality. When you make humidors and sell them it is important the quality of workmanship is consistent through out the piece. For the money, I wasn't thrilled.

I have used this product now for several months. As the father of twin toddlers, having humid, bacterial free, air in our house is important to me. I've had a problem with the vornado humidifier wicks/water growing orange algae and becoming quite stale and brown on high humidity days in the winter. I was replacing filters a number of times through the winter and cleaning out the humidifier pan. This has been great at solving that problem, I use about 1/2 the recommended amount. I was previously using a drop or two of bleach to try to keep the water clean but that was not so effective.

I have a Vornado evaporation humidifier, and I've always had issues trying to keep the wicks clean. I bought this on a whim and it seems to be doing great so far! My only concern was what chemicals were in it, but you use a tiny amount (maybe 1tbsp) in 2 gallons of water. All in all great to add if you are having issues with mildew/buildup on your evaporation wicks!

I have a number of Vornado humidifiers in my home. With two toddler twin daughters, keeping the air as free of bacteria is important to me. This product seems to be doing a very good job. I have noticed an improvement in the wicks that draw up the water: no signs of bacterial aging. While I am not a biologist, nor have run any scientific tests, it seems to work with no side effects.

The supplier promptly shipped the water treatment as described. There was no communications, as none was necesary. The purchase just went through as it should, with no hitches.

I will buy this product again.

I've replaced the filters on our Sears humidifier numerous times. I thought I'd be getting the same OEM product as previously. However, the filters I received appear as pictured, and are not the same as the original, despite labeling. I don't yet know how well they will work. Perhaps they are better (?), but it wasn't what I was expecting. Dry, they are smaller than the specified dimensions and don't fully fill the air flow path; however, I've verified that they expand to fill the space when wet. The vendor has agreed to replace or refund if they don't work properly. I'll test them this winter and will update my review (if I remember!)

This pail is pretty good because it doesnt require special bags or anything. I have only replaced the filter once in over a year. I have no idea what the filter actually does, but my daughter's room doesn't smell like poo, so it must be doing its job.

This is the best diaper system. I have 4 children, I used the Diaper Genie with my first 2, then I discovered this product when I had my twins and its great! You don't have to buy expensive, specific bags; you just use regular 13 gallon bags and your done! It's great!
