Is there anywhere to buy the old filters without the blue wrapping.

I have used Honeywell Humidifiers for many years and never had the smell / mold problem you do with these filters, they are downright unhealthy.

I tried to rate these zero stars they are that bad but the system would not let me.

Bought a bunch of these replacement filters (10, I believe) for my Honeywell 2000 series humidifier.

This "enviracaire" blue wrapping was a new thing for me. HONEYWELL/ENVIRACAIRE HAC-504 Replacement Filter Pad Never seen it before, but figured what the heck, maybe it's new technology & will improve the filter's capability.

WRONG!!

My experience has been just the opposite. 1) It doesn't last as long, working only 2-4 weeks before it's efficacy diminishes, whereas the 'older' filters with the plastic/wire mesh would easily last 3-4 months, sometimes longer depending on use. 2) Using the old filters, I would often take them out after some heavy use, clean them, and descale them before continuing to use them. Only after months of use & hard build-up would they lose their efffectiveness & need to be changed. With these "enviracaire" filters the build up isn't heavy at all, it maybe something else (see #5 below), they just lose their effectiveness very quickly.

3) I've been using humidifiers for nearly 9 years. I have a wine cellar & walk-in humidor, and for those of you who partake in those hobbies, you know how important it is to maintain proper storage conditions. So you might say that, yes, I do have experience in the use of humidifiers and environmental control. 4) I bought my last batch of (these) replacement filters from KAZ. When I began using the filters & encountering problems I contacted kaz to complain. Well, the customer service person who contacted me proceeded to tell me how it must be MY HUMIDIFIER that's not working properly as the filters work fine in hers! RIGHT!!!!! Does she use hers as extensively as I use mine?! I've been using the current humidifier(s) for three years with no prior problems to this!!!

5) Now here's the worse part, IMO. WHAT'S WITH THE FILMY/MOLDY STUFF THAT BUILDS UP?! When I began using these "enviracaire" filters, I began seeing a filmy, moldy build up in my humidifier's water system. Even after I thoroughly clean the filter housing & install a new filter, at about the 2-4 week mark (when the filter's efficacy starts to diminidsh), the unit gets this filmy/moldy build-up in the filter housing compartment and in the water (but it doesn't get into the tank). Whether I use a few drops of a bacteriostatic or descaling in the water tank or not doesn't make a difference. Never seen that before, never seen it with the older filter types!! This filmy stuff may be the reason for the decreased function of the filetr, at least that's what I suspect.

So! Should you buy this filer?

You decide. Personally, I think that the manufacturer needs to know about these problems and take care of them.

As for me, I'm trying desperately to find the older style filters that had a wire-like/plastic outer mesh. Honeywell HAC504 Replacement Humidifier Filter They seemed to work just fine!!

I've noticed a bad smell when I use these filters after only a few days use. The old ones without the blue air purifier didn't smell like this. I will not use these again even if I have to buy a new humidifier when I can't find the old HAC-504 filters.

This replacement filter suddenly began to emit a really foul odor. I soaked it for ten minutes as per the instructions but when I put it back in, the odor came back and my eyes started to burn. I realized I had to throw the thing out, which means I have no humidifier while the air is now very humid. Meanwhile I had to open the windows, with the temperature about 10 degrees outside, to get rid of the pungent odor and the sensation in my eyes still not gone, several hours later. They need to re-do this filter, it is a Zero.

I have searched when shopping and could not find the filters for my Vicks Humidifier. Thank you for having them. There are 3 new cartridges in the box. They look just like the cartridges that came with my new humidifier. The only difference that I notice is that the white filter is not as thick as my original one. The cartridge fits the humidifier and I am happy to have been able to find them.

I not the brightest bulb in the box and, I probably could have found out before I purchased that the humidifier does not come with a mounting device. Just as well, I made a cage to house it on the inside cover of my humidor. My criticism is the quality of the machining of the device. Two plastic lids cap the ends of a, I assume aluminum, housing. The problem there is too much tolerance and one cap does not stay in place. It gives it a cheapness that I am sure was not intended. Also, the sponge looks like it was cut with a serrated knife. Again, it does not really broadcast quality. When you make humidors and sell them it is important the quality of workmanship is consistent through out the piece. For the money, I wasn't thrilled.

We purchased this for our Komfort Trailer last year as we live in Oregon and wanted something to help cut down on the moisture inside the trailer during the storage months. Just wanted to say that I bought this to get rid of a musty smell in my room, and to also fight any mildew buildup in the carpet. I have crazy sensitive allergies, and carpets usually bug me.

This got rid of the musty smell for me, and it also has sucked up a decent amount of moisture in over two weeks. It took about a week or so to start dripping, but after that it definitely kept accumulating. Depending on how moist an area is, this might not last the full 60 days. As soon as this fills to the line on the bottom collection unit it will need to be emptied, and the packets will need to be replaced.

The 10.5 oz packets are a bit big, but it isn't impossible to squeeze two of them into the top compartment. Do not open the dampRid bags, just remove them from the plastic wrap and place them into the top of the unit side by side. It isn't unusual for them to take up to 30 days to start to drip, but if the area is really humid it could be much sooner than the week it took mine.

Their website also has a helpful FAQ section. If a musty smell isn't going away you may need to add another unit every few days(think it was a few) until it does. Just saying this cause some have said it didn't help in their basement.

I have a basement bedroom that gets really damp in the summer, to the point that my sheets and duvet get almost wet, it's disgusting. I bought the DampRid product with a very skeptical attitude. I really didn't believe there way any way these would work, but I thought I would give it a shot before I spent a couple of hundred dollars on a dehumidifier. To my shock, they work! They work very well, in fact! I was amazed when after the first four days the water reservoirs at the bottom had water in them and my sheets weren't wet! I haven't had a damp sheet since. If you have any doubt as to whether these work or not, don't! They do!

I have a 10 x 12 ft. music room where I keep several guitars, and since I live in a humid climate (west central Florida) I need to keep an eye on room humidity. Over a thirty day period the DampRid FG90 removed twelve ounces of water that may have otherwise been absorbed by the guitars.

The FG90 came with two Easy-Fill absorbent packets. Use both, the second one is not a spare. If you only install one and then read the directions a week or so later, you'll find the second packet difficult to install because the first one has already solidified.

I gave the FG90 four stars instead of five because of appearance. The color does not go at all well with my decor.

I use the Meade Instruments TM005X-M wireless thermo hygrometer to monitor room temperature and humidity.

Pros:

1. Stylish: arguably the best looking humidifier available to US consumers;

2. Cool mist (versus hot mist), doesn't heat up the room.

Cons:

1. It produces a plasticky smell. I have used it about 5 times, and the smell still exists. I am not sure if bc it's new. It's not noticeable if you are in the other side of the room, but definitely can tell if you are near the machine.

2. Expensive initial cost, and cartridge/filters extra.

Other Comments:

1. Mist falls because it's cool (versus hot air rises). I am not sure if this makes the mist less effective if you place the machine low.

2. It's quiet, but not silent. We are used to sleep in silent rooms, and the continuous hissing is bothersome.

I don't know what the problem is, but this humidifier will not stay on. When we turn it on, it starts producing "steam". You can actually see it come out. Then a few minutes later, it stops. It won't go on when we push the button again. But if we leave it for hours, we can get it to go on again, but just for a short time. And it's not that the room has reached some level of humidity. We live in the desert. We are sending it back. I don't know if it's just this unit or if I should try a completely different brand but we are not happy at all. I will add that I was able to return it easily for a full refund without having to pay for shipping. Thanks for that.

It sends out a nice mist, is easy to clean, and so far after near continuous use for the last 5 months, I haven't needed to replace the filter. And I have hard water.

The only complaint I have it that I keep thinking that the top handle, where you lift off the water tank, is a handle for picking up the whole humidifier. Oops! Otherwise, great design and quiet, too.

I also like how you can turn the lights off.

I'm disappointed to report that my recently purchased ANTON will be shipped back to Amazon tomorrow.

The stylization is really bar none. The thing really turned heads when it delivered to my office in late January.

The output, while no steam engine, served the needs of my small studio apartment in wintertime Chicago.

The morning following first use, I found the reservoir compartment to contain about 2 inches of standing water.

I unplugged the unit, dumped the water, refilled the reservoir, and set the unit for a second night's use.

In the following morning, in addition to the 2" of water in the reservoir, there was what I'd estimate to be one pint of water sitting in a large puddle under the unit. This pattern of failure continued for several nights. I emailed the company and googled for tips to no avail.

It's my belief that the design flaw is confined to the valve spring inside the removable filter.

Perhaps a replacement filter will resolve this issue for you.

Me ? I'll just go with a less costly, sturdier alternative.
