I did a lot of searching for a product that would help curtail the white dust that is created by a humidifier. This does what it says it will, am very happy with the results. Our water is medium hard and this works great. We run the ultra sonic humidifier every night so is important to have this product which is made for the ultra sonic machines. Only a cap full per tank. I ordered 3 bottles of this, it was shipped VERY fast! I will reorder when I need more.

I bought a Sunbeam ultrasonic humidifier that works well except that it requires water treatment tablets in order to prevent scaling and a white film being intoduced into the room. The problem was that the tablets are almost impossible to find in stores or online. I bought this product, put two capfulls into the water tank and now there is no more scaling and no more white film on my furniture. Compared to the tablets its also a lot cheaper. No complaints on this one.

I bought this product to help reduce or eliminate the white dust caused by my ultrasonic humidifier. It is also supposed to help prevent buildup on the inner workings of the unit. I can't speak for the inside of the unit, but I can truly say it did not help with the white dust issue at all. I will either have to use distilled water or buy a new humidifier.

I am in CA & get the white dust when use the humidifier. Was optimistic about this, & it does help a little if you use double the amount, but didn't work as great as I'd hoped. The seller was great & shipped it very quickly, just not sure if there is a cure for white dust other than a filter humidifier.

I use ultrasonic humidifiers and lots of problems with white dust emissions and bacteria buildup and sometimes a "slime" getting deposited on things including my skin and hair! So while I treat my nasal allergies and blockages and breathing problems, I'm irritating my skin and scalp with all these deposits. I have tried every type of humidifier and always go back to Pure Guardian with a built-in silver filter. They produce a lot of white dust but using this treatment keeps the water sanitary so i get a lot less funky stuff on my skin. I use actually 3 caps in each tankful which is probably 3 times what they recommend, but we have a lot of dust and pet hair in our home being constantly filtered.

I also use the extra filter now for less dust that screws on to the cap of the water tank of the pure guardian which definitely reduces dust at least somewhat. And I always, always use this water treatment to keep the steam from getting "slimy". I don't mind dust nearly as much as that bacteria-ridden slime. And I find this to seem to be gentle enough to use in the Pure Guardian tank. It's also a huge help in other types of humidifiers that build up a lot of bacteria, and better for the machines than bleach.

The only negative is that the installation instructions are a little cryptic and the fan makes some noise at highest speed.

This is my first large humidifier and I may not be the best person to appreciate differences amongst brands. But I will give you a "layman's" impression.

When it first arrived I wasn't sure I was that impressed. It's a big piece of plastic, not exactly durable but it can last. The casing is cheesy imitation wood which I guess does the job. It reminds me of my parents' old wood paneling from the 70s although some people like this "rustic" appearance. The unit doesn't consist of much -a plastic basin, casters for it to move on the floor, a 2.5 gallon bottle that comes with a hose for filling up (nice addition), the fan assembly piece on top. My first thought was "now this produces a great profit margin."

Well, while that might be the case, I should compare it with the smaller humidifiers I've used that cost anywhere from $40-70. They are a little more intricate, have better precision, but this isn't a tremendous difference and the value for what it does is evidently much better. When it comes right down to it though, I wonder how much more effective this is than having a large pot of water and a fan, but somehow the entire 2.5 gallons evaporates pretty quickly over the course of a few hours.

Noise -quiet is not a word I'd use. Not sure what these people are talking about. On low speed it's noticeable, medium it's definitely noticeable, high speed is like a jet plane. I keep mine in a foyer of my apartment at mid speed and it's noisy but tolerable generally. At night you don't want this in your room when trying to sleep.

Overall it works. I'm still having humidity challenges in my dry apartment but this is probably better than the small machines. I'd give it 3.5 stars because of price to performance. Unsure how these differ from a "whole house" humidifier other than price since specs are the same.

I have had this unit for awhile and it does work. However it is made from very thin plastic and will not stand a simple bump without falling apart. I ordered some anti-bacteriostat from Essick and they sent a third of what I paid for and will not respond to my requests for an explaination.

It comes assembled, but you need to disassemble to remove the packing. You would have to do this anyhow to clean it before first use, so this isn't a negative. Filled it with water and some anti-bacterial solution and turned it on. House went from 20% to 45% relative humidity within a day on medimum fan speed. The unit is upstairs in the largest part of a 3800 sq ft house. High fan speed is noisy. Medium is loud but bearable. Low is nearly silent. When you move air with a fan, you'll get noise. If you want a silent humidifier, you'll need to get one that is installed inline with your furnace/AC fan (spelled $$$).

Construction is basic... plastic. Some may say it's cheap, but I say it's easy to clean. Remove the fan housing (simply lift it off the base), remove the filter and you have a big plastic box that is easy to clean. I like it. Fan is also easy to access for cleaning.

I have another humidifier on it's way because I thought I would need two for a house this large. Probably could have gotten away with this one alone, but I'll run both on low fan speed and reduce the time they are on, indirectly increasing the life of each... I hope.

Worked well until the blower motor went out. It now gets hot when plugged in but will not spin. This product work well until it broke. now to get it replaced I must pay to have it packed and shipped back. Then they say they will test and if bad replace with me paying shipping. Just doesnt seem fair. I do not have the time to wait for testing so I am going to buy a different brand. maybe from a company that will send me a new product until they are able to verify what I a saying is true.

I purchased this item through another company and it seemed to work fine for several months. Then the auto-shut-off stopped working, resulting in ruined and moldy carpet. Doing a little research online, this is a very common malfunction. If the company had stood behind their product and repaired or replaced it, I might be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they don't. They knew the unit was defective and refused to make it right. So run from this product...and as far as I'm concerned, I'd run from Haier as well.

The item arrived on time. However, it will not drain properly even after significant troubleshooting. We have contacted the manufacturer; however, they require several steps to even begin the process of honoring the one year warranty.

Of the three units that I ordered, only one was almost tolerable. One unit was seriously damaged in transit, and I guess that is not a reflection on the quality of the unit. One unit had a bad humidity sensor, which would "read" a humid room as dry, and thus would prevent the unit from turning on. The unit that is almost tolerable, and I decided to keep, or rather I was tired of sending things back, is noisy, and the timer feature does not work. All told, this was not a good purchase.

This unit is replacing a dehumidifier that gave 12 years of terrific service until the motor failed. I went to Consumer Reports for a recommendation on a replacement and they suggested the Haier DE65EK which I purchased. It has performed very poorly. It has removed less than half the water each day that the previous one did. I will not use Consumer Reports for recommendations again. Do yourself a favor, but another brand...

Update: It has only been two weeks since I wrote the review, and today it quit completely. It just stopped functioning. I called their "help line" and ran all of the checks they recommended...nothing seemed to be wrong, but it just didn't run at all. I was then informed that I would have to take this unit to a repair shop that is three cities from where I live. I am a partially disabled elderly person and will have to hire someone to take the unit to the repair shop and pick it up, assuming the repair shop agrees to try to fix it. Do yourself a favor, and do NOT buy one of these...complete waste of money. If I could change the original "two star" rating I gave it to zero stars, I would. The repair company just told me that it would cost $95.00 each way to have it picked up and returned to be assuming they could fix it. What a total rip off.....

The back plastic cover vibrates, I tried tightening the screws but it did not help. I put a piece of the Styrofoam packing between the back of the dehumidifier and the wall to put pressure on the back of the unit , helped some, however still very annoying. I have the unit in the basement; it is still loud up stairs.

Like other reviewers, I also ordered this believing I was purchasing a Xikar product. What I actually received was a bottle of "Stogie's Propylene Glycol 50/50" solution. I'm sure one PG 50/50 is about the same as another, but that's hardly the point. Advertising one product and sending out something completely different is unacceptable business practice.

One more note, the bottle was wrapped up in a plastic bag, and quite a bit of the product has leaked out in transit. Paid for 16 ounces, received maybe 14.

The post office had to place the package in a plastic bag because the lid on the bottle was loose spilling 25% of the liquid by the time it was delivered. The package was saturated. I left packaging feedback (with photos), seller feedback and feedback to Amazon around 3 weeks ago. I am still waiting for a response. I'm sure the product is everything it is supposed to be, but I sure didn't get my money's worth.

I originally purchased this because it had a picture of the Xikar bottle. When I received the order, it was actually "Stogie's". I talked with the vendor, who said that Amazon regularly has substitute items when looking for a specific brand. I have since found this to be the case. The seller was actually very nice and easy to get along with, and was more than happy to allow me to return the product. I decided to give it a shot.

I found the solution to be a very good one for a 50/50, but I purchase Xikar *because* it isn't 50/50. It is a slightly better blend which tends to leave less residue and which tends to not change each time you add it to the humidifier.

Now is where I reach what I am torn about. They have since fixed the picture issue, and the correct picture *and* description are now there. I think that the product is very good for what is being sold . . . but the item title is now even worse than the formerly-mistaken picture. It is now being advertised as Xikar (the title now reads "Xikar Large Cigar Humidor Solution Propylene Glycol 16 Ounces". The picture confusion from before is easily explained, but I have a bit of a hard time believing that Amazon forcefully changed the title after it was put in.

So in conclusion, I would give the product five stars for being a good product, and I took away 3 stars for it essentially being a bait-and-switch. If you clicked on the product and are aware of the fact it is not Xikar (and the misleading title doesn't bother you), then I would definitely encourage you to purchase it. Otherwise I would purchase somewhere else, like this one: Xikar Humidifier Solution 16 oz..

I probably should have read the other reviews before absent-mindedly purchasing this product at three AM. However, I did not, and they are correct. The product I received is not as pictured, and lacking the ability to test it for purity and content, I intend to send it back for a refund. Frankly, I just don't know if I can trust this label on the bottle of clear fluid that may or may not be "99.9% pure" and "made with 100% pure distilled water" (which is technically impossible).

Guys, at this price, just go to your nearest tobacconist, and buy the real deal. You won't save any money, but you run the stupid risk of destroying some cigars with this mystery fluid that looks like it came out of someone's garage, and the labels that were clearly printed on someone's inkjet.

I bought this indoor misting fan and now realize that my expectations were to high. Some indoor misting fans claim to drop the air temperature expelled from the fan up to 10 or 20 degrees. I live in the desert and the temps get between 100 and 115 degrees 3 to 4 months duriing the summertime. I have other SPT Fans and side by side, this misting fan DOES NOT DROP the outgoing air temperature 1 degree. The amount of mist injected into the fan blades while operating is hardly measureable. I paid 3 times the amount compared to my SPT fan that raises and lowers. What a waste of money. In this case, BUYER BEWARE. LIKE I SAID, THE AIR TEMPERATURE is no different than my NON misting fan. I know commercial misting fans work great, and psycologically I was expecting something a little bit better than what I got. Considering an indoor misting fan? (DON'T)

Discount Homedics Rock Rock Garden Tabletop Fountain

I received this fountain as a gift. It is easy to set up and assemble for the first time. The pump is fairly quiet, and the sound of the water falling is quite relaxing. The fountain design is beautiful, and the rocks included in the box are very pretty to look at.

My problem came in that when the fountain needs to be cleaned, and it will need to be cleaned because if you don't run it for a few days, the water tends to form scum, that you have to remove all of the rocks and try not to make a mess with scummy water everywhere. Then, when you drain the water out, the fountain is assembled in such a way that the slate cliff-like levels have to be removed or they'll fall out.

Also, after about 9 months of regular usage, my pump quit. I wrote to the manufacturer and they told me to mail the entire fountain to them and they would replace it. This fountain weighs about 7-8 lb and for what it would cost me to mail it, I may as well purchase a new one, which I didn't.

I have bought many Homedics products in the past and have been quite satisfied with them all, but I guess I shouldn't have expected so much out of a fountain under 30.00.

The bottom line-while it is certainly a lovely, tranquilizing product, which my cats also loved, it's not all that durable. I recommend a fountain to anyone who wants relaxation but please realize they're not all that durable.

I got one of these as a gift and I love it! I set it up near the living room and turn it on when I'm reading... it has a very relaxing sound, enough so that I sometimes fall asleep... ;)

I purchased this for myself with a gift card. It looked beautiful, but it was actually a bit of a pain to maintain. Firstly, the water splashes out a bit, so since I had it on wooden furniture, I had to put a towel under it. Secondly, my house water is hard, so there was a lot of mineral build up over time. It's plastic, and it's not easy to clean. The mineral deposits don't really scrub out completely. On the positive side, the sound was nice, it was pretty, and I could readjust the rocks anytime to alter the flow. I did throw it away after about 2.5 years.

I am enjoying my new tabletop fountain. It has a definite zen feel and look to it. The base is black with a subtle ornate design to it. I have not noticed it making alot of noise, as some of the other reviewers have stated, but I try to make sure that the pump is totally submerged (this cuts down on the sound). It comes with the river rocks which are beautiful in themselves. I also put it together myself and the directions were easy to follow (and I'm not usually good with that stuff!. Some negatives: You need to place alot of the rocks in the fountain so that the light column doesn't show through so much. If you don't you just see this column of light and the zen feeling goes out the window.
