This cartridge stopped immediately the build up of minerals around the water deposit on my humidifier, it even seems to be taking off some of the build up that was already there.

Our humidifier requires a cartridge like this. Unfortunately you can't find it in stores so have to rely on ording on line. That being the case I ordered 2. One came in perfect shape & is working like a charm. The 2nd one not so good: some of the material inside the cartridge (carbon?) has leaked out & there are itsy bitsy little black balls the size of a pencil tip all over the place. Unfortunatly you won't find this out until you have already opened the product. Clearly the manufacturor has a quality control issue. So if you plan to buy this product, my advice...buy 2...that way you'll get at least one that isn't leaking material all over the place.

I have 4 cats and put this near their litterbox. I have the Germ Guardian tower raised up off the floor for better circulation. Within 10 minutes of turning it on the air quality was noticeably fresher! I'm going to order one or two more for other areas of the house. Prior to buying this tower model, I have been using the cool looking stainless steel table model of Germ Guardian air sanitizers for years, I have 5 of those throughout the house and basement. I haven't had a cold since I first discovered Germ Guardians, 4 years ago! I have given 3 of them as gifts. I absolutely LOVE them!! My house smells fresh and clean, even with 4 indoor cats. Bought one of these a month or so ago locally, and have been so happy with it that I'm here on Amazon buying another one for the second floor. It is extremely effective in purifying the air of dust and odors. It has made a huge difference in my allergies. Looking forward to having one cranking on each floor. The filters are rather expensive, but all HEPAs are.

For the price this is the best air filter I've ever used. The filter itself is easy to clean, simply wash it in the sink and dry it thoroughly and pop it back in (just the black part, the rest of it shouldn't get wet). I love it and have it running all the time, my son has breathing issues and I think this has helped him a lot. It moves air really well, but when it's on it's highest setting it is a little loud. Worth every penny though!

Only had unit a couple of days. We are accustomed to white noise to sleep and this unit is perfect on low or medium. Filtering system looks easy to maintain and efficient. Price is very competitive.

Our two gripes are the strong plastic smell the unit exudes. I'm hoping this will diminish with use. Also the blue indicator light bar that shines when the UV-C bulb is illuminated is much too bright for sleeping. I've covered it with electrical tape.

Update 2-7-12 Unit rattles now, not enough to disturb sleep but not "ultra-quiet" as the box advertising states.

Update April 2012. Rattle went away much quieter now. Bearings finally seated or wore in or something.

I can't remember if this was in the description or not, but it awesomely changes colors (LED) while vaporizing. You can also set it to stay on a solid color, if you want. Or you can just turn the diffuser on but keep the LED lights off. I've only had it for two days, and I plan on using it for several hours every day so I will update if it burns out or something by the end of the year. So far, it's great!! I really love it. The fragrance comes off strong. I will not that this is the first electric diffuser I've ever had, before I always used the tealight candle under the ceramic bowl thing which you fill with water and add some essential oils ... you know the thing. That's crap compared to one of these, hehe. The fragrance is so much stronger fresher, better. Way better. If you love diffusing essential oils, but aren't looking to spend a lot on a diffuser (I'm on a budget, people) but obviously want something that WORKS, try this out!! It was the most affordable one with not crappy reviews! Technically, it had no reviews, I'm writing the first one so I figured the chances of success were higher, LOL. OKthe only major annoyance I've had so far with this (and maybe it's because I've never used a plug-in one before) was figuring out WHERE to PUT the essential oils!!!!!!!!!!!!! The instructions were so annoying on this part, and I probably took it too literally, but that was, yeah, ANNOYING. For anyone else who might have the problem of figuring this out, I have been adding about 2-5 drops (depending on the intensity of the oil) to the very tip top of the diffuser (after taking off the "LED part)". Don't add it to the little side groove like the instructions say...I don't know what they're talking about, makes no sense, and this doesn't even work to diffuse the oil! Also, you should know that this states that you can only use 100% PURE, ESSENTIAL OILS FOR THIS! Which was MY intent, so that's good. If you're planning on using fragrance oils or something with other "components" added in... DON'T! Cause it may break this, as was made very clear by the manufacturer. :)

Really not a bad unit for the price! I have used this diffuser almost daily for over a month and have been pleasantly surprised. I would say this product is best for small areas like a bathroom or bedroom, but I have used it even in larger spaces with good results. The lights are a nice feature because they can be set to Off, stay static on one color, or rotate through all of the colors. Makes a great nightlight with the benefit of aromatherapy, too!

I actually purchase this little guy from somewhere else about a year and a half ago. I use it every night. I have discovered that. It does need to be placed on a table away from walls. So I have it sitting on a plant stand I got at Hobby Lobby cheap and it is approximately 3 foot off the floor and it works GREAT. No filters to hassle with. It does eventually show water build up. However I have found that a little antibacterial soap & a soft kitchen brush will fix it up in a jiffy. I would be lost with out mine hope this works as well for you as it has me.

We have the frog version. It works quite well. But, after three seasons (and, frankly, no maintenance) it's shot. Quality is good but not good enough to handle the abuse a kid puts it through. It is quiet enough to sleep with. It draws air from the bottom with little clearance provided so, it works poorly sitting on carpet or other soft material.

This humidifier works great, very quiet and the adjustable mist flow is nice and my son loves the dragon! However the cap didn't last very long, I've had this humidifier less than a year and the spring in the cap has rusted and is almost completely unuseable. I'm going to have to order a replacement cap now so I can use the humidifier. You would think they would use a more durable metal for a product they know is going to be in water all the time.

I got this for my son and it worked wonderful for the first 9 months. Then it just stopped working. BUT it was my fault for not doing proper maintenace and I left it on the floor on a towel, which it says not to do and I never cleaned it once. I think it worked great with no maintenace for those 9 months. I recently purchesed the same one again and this time I am maintaining it and I'm sure it will last much longer.

My son loves to look at it and I know he will really love it when he's older. It helps so much in the dry winter months and when he has a cold.

My wife and I purchased the Crane baby humidifier (frog) to place in our newborn daughters room shortly after she was born in October of 2011. We used it through the winter of 2011-2012 with no issue, and did not operate it again until this past November/December 2012. Sometime in late January 2013, the unit began to make a strange, straining sound. It still produced cool mist vapor, but we were concerned about fire risk from a strained motor, so we turn it off and called the manufacturer. The Crane representative informed me that they offer a one-year full replacement warranty with receipt and proof of purchase. Since we were outside of the one-year window (even though we only operated the unit for about 7 or 8 months in cumulative time), we did not qualify for the full replacement warranty. When I asked what Crane COULD do for us, the representative presented an "OUT OF WARRANTY REPLACEMENT" offer, which is a $20 discount toward your next Crane humidifier purchased through their web site. Since I am not a propoent of throwing good money after bad (and the potential for two defective Crane humidifiers after spending $70 total), I declined the offer and informed them that I would let other consumers know what Crane thinks of its own products. Save yourself the aggravation. Purchase a product from another manufacturer.

This is the first time I've purchased an air purifier not based on the cadr, so I was a little nervous. But it is great. From day one, the air in my bedroom has smelled very fresh. In addition, I purchased this because of a potential mold problem in my apartment. Since using it, I have experienced less symptoms than before. I like it so much, I'm thinking of purchasing another one for my second floor because the old Hunter I have isn't sufficient.

I would recommend this air purifier to anyone, especially if you have allergies. The only reason I didn't give this a 5-star rating is because it is a little noisy on high (although for normal uses, it probably wouldn't need to always be run on high like I'm doing because of my mold problem). Also, you have to have some place out of the way to put it as it must be set 8 inches from the wall with the air output facing away from the wall.

I actually won this machine on an allergy website and have been using it for over a year now. I love it! My allergies are really bad and this machine plus my medicine allows me to keep all my cats and dogs. It does not allow me to be symptom free but if you are an allergy sufferer, you know that you will never be allergy free and you can make breathing a little easier with this machine. It is quiet enough for the bedroom and simple to take care of. The pre-filter gets replaced every year and it is easy to do and inexpensive. The HEGA filter is really expensive but it only needs to be changed every three years so you really aren't spending too much in the long run. You don't have to open the machine to clean the filters either, you just vacuum the outside once a week and you are done! The Jr model does a room up to 750 sq ft and the regular model does a room up to 1500 sq ft. I highly recommend this machine!

I have owned a few few other airfilters before, and this is by far the best. I have a mild allergy to my cats and i use this machine reduce the symptoms. It does a commendable job. Highly recommended. The only reason I am not giving it a five star is because it can get a little noisy at the higher fan settings. My cats tend to get flustered when that happens. But overall a good buy.

I bought this Austin purifier to help me with my indoor allergies. I no longer wake up with a stuffy nose, itchy eyes, or a scratchy throat. This filter runs all night in my bedroom. The medium setting is not loud, but the highest setting is very loud. Be sure that you read the instructions before operating, because they state that you should use the purifier on the highest setting for at least one hour. I usually set the filter on high for an hour before I go to bed. Austin air purifiers are the only purifiers still made in the USA. The nice workmanship, fit and finish, and steel exterior are things that set it apart from the cheaper purifiers made by Honeywell and others.

My wife suffers from respiratory issues and normally has several bad colds with lung infections every year. I bought this filter for our bedroom about a year ago and since then she has definitely had fewer problems. I know this is not scientific testing, but in her case it seems to have really helped.

PROS:

1. Seems to help with respiratory issues.

2. Easy to use just exterior cleaning required.

CONS:

1. Somewhat noisy, even on the lower speeds; but I have come to view it as white noise.

2. Takes up a fair amount of space.

BOTTOM LINE: Seems to help people with breathing problems. I would recommend it.

I don't know if this is a glorified air freshener or not but whatever it is my son hasn't made a peep for the last 2 nights we have used it. He was sleeping horribly because of a nasty cold. The night we plugged this in he rolled over, closed his eyes & we didn't hear from him til morning, as well as the next night. Maybe he was feeling better, maybe he was just that exhausted and it's a coincidence but I can't say anything negative about them. Oh... well, the aroma is a bit overwhelming at first but that didn't seem to bother my son. The low setting is high enough.

We got this product for my 6mo old baby. He had a bad cold, it seems the Vapors is helping him to sleep better. Read the instructions, pads MUST NOT be placed on any furniture, clothes OR/AND SKIN! We place this product in a very small room and Works great, but the smell is strong, I guess it will work on a middle-sized room too. The light is not annoying at all,and it has an individual light "control" tap. I only wish it had an auto-off setting, but it works great anyway. It is amazing that it seems to work better tan a full sized humidifier/vaporizer.

PS: You'll get a better price through Amazon.com (for the plug thing and for the pads also).
