I got this because I knew in advance that my tap water was 'hard'. In the drop humidifier instructions (which you don't read until you have purchased the thing) it says note: It is recommended you used filtered or distilled water. The reason is because the minerals in tap water will cause some white dust to come from the machine. And I guess over time it will cause the unit to not work properly. Anyway I got this thing and they don't list here that it should be replaced after 30-40 refills and you refill every day. That means the life of the filter is around a month. Just consider this expense if you have hard water like almost everyone does.

The filter itself is around 3x5 inches. It fits in there just fine. You have to soak it for 30 minutes before you put it in the machine.

Crane has updated the drop shape humidifier and in the process changed the required shape of this filter. Unfortunately, they didn't change the model number at all. So if you buy this filter you really have no way of knowing which one you will actually receive and worse yet if it will match your humidifier. I just bought the humdifier new and added the filter because I know my water isn't the best. Got both in the same box and proceeded to think I was going crazy because the filter just wouldn't fit. Ended up calling Crane directly who didn't want to help me because we didn't have the correct number of some sort. Finally received this response:

Dear Crane Customer,

I apologize that you are experiencing a problem with your new Drop Shape and Filter. You are not doing anything wrong! Unfortunately, against our request, some retailers are still selling/shipping an older model of filter that does not work with the newest model of Drop Shape.

We ordered this filter for our Crane drop humidifier EE-5301 as we have pretty hard water in our area. The filter works well and we have stocked up to get us through the winter season. I read the previous reviews and found the filter to fit perfectly. It seems Amazon took care shipping the correct product. I would recommend this filter if you have lots of minerals in the water or use well water

I was hesitant to purchase this filter along with my Crane Drop Shape Cool Mist Humidifier (I got the green one) as I read that the humidifier filter was not the correct model; however, when I received them, the humidifier fit perfectly, so amazon must have fixed their previous error. The filter is easy to put in the slot and lasts a good long while. I'm very pleased!

This cartridge stopped immediately the build up of minerals around the water deposit on my humidifier, it even seems to be taking off some of the build up that was already there.

Our humidifier requires a cartridge like this. Unfortunately you can't find it in stores so have to rely on ording on line. That being the case I ordered 2. One came in perfect shape & is working like a charm. The 2nd one not so good: some of the material inside the cartridge (carbon?) has leaked out & there are itsy bitsy little black balls the size of a pencil tip all over the place. Unfortunatly you won't find this out until you have already opened the product. Clearly the manufacturor has a quality control issue. So if you plan to buy this product, my advice...buy 2...that way you'll get at least one that isn't leaking material all over the place.

Love this as an upgrade since my collection of smokes continues to grow. Hygrometer comes already calibrated so that was a nice plus. It actually looks much better in person than in the photos. I have maintained a steady 70% with no problem. The reason I say give or take a star is that the magnet on back of one of the humidifiers came off. Maybe just bad luck on my end, but had to glue it back on myself. If you're like me, you don't really use those anyway so you could say it is still perfect. I use the beads so it isn't needed, but for cosmetic purposes the humidor looks better with both of them in. Can't comment on how effective they are, but I always advise the use of beads and/or Boveda packs to maintain your humidor. I wil still recommend this humidor for the look and how well it has worked vs others I've tried.

My old Rowenta got heavy duty usage and lasted just over 10 years. The only problem it had was with the cord and that is being repaired. To cover me and have a backup iron, I got this new one. To prevent spitting and leaking Only use generic drinking water like you would get in any store. Not distilled, not and super duper brand, just plain old bottled drinking water. Next, make sure the heat setting and steam setting match. Don't select a low heat and high steam or it will spit. Other than that, this is by far, the best and most effective iron on the market.

I have wanted a Rowenta iron for a long time because of my experience with them in the quilt shops where I have taken classes. Being an avid quilter, an iron is an important tool for me. I tried it on a couple of cotton shirts when it arrived and the shirts looked liked they were professionally done at a cleaners. I had a couple of hanger marks in the shoulder of one shirt and the iron took them out instantly. It looked like they were never there. The steam works pretty regularly and the sprayer gives an even spray, not a spurt like other irons I have used. The iron is sturdy in my hand, but not too heavy. Did not find much use for the the thumb rest. I'm really pleased with this product and highly recommend it. My only regret is that I waited so long to buy a Rowenta.

I just have to say that ever since I received my Rowenta iron in the mail I can't stop ironing. I literally try to find things to iron and what's so funny is I hate ironing! The main reason why was it just seemed like you would iron for a long time and then later find that what you just ironed needs to be ironed again! Well not with this iron, I have never spent this much money on an iron, but couldn't resist because of all of the great reviews. What's great is it doesn't take a long time to iron at all, even the toughest denim will be wrinkle free in less than a minute. I'm so happy I made this purchase. This iron takes out wrinkles like nothing. I like the sprayer because it sprays out so much water evenly rather than the little bit a of water that most irons spray. I have never seen so many steam holes on an iron but I now understand the importance and see a huge difference. Definitely worth buying and I plan to buy one for my friends and family as gifts.

Purchasing a Rowenta iron is no longer a guarantee that you are buying a quality item. This is my second and last Rowenta iron. My first iron lasted 10 years with very low maintenance. This iron, purchased two months ago and made in China (not Germany), developed rust after one use. No one stands behind it. Speaking to customer (dis)service at Amazon and Rowenta was a waste of time. Amazon referred me to Rowenta, who blamed it on the "hard water" we have in Manhattan. I was not able to obtain a replacement or a refund from Amazon or Rowenta.

Am a bachelor from the 'old achool' who is not allergic to ironing often. Absolutely dislike a leaky iron. Had that in mind as I shopped around for one. Plus, was looking for a product which was sturdy/durable,offered good steam action and was priced right. Even checked Consumers but didn't like their picks. Then I visited Amazon (which I should've done in the first place) and came across the Rowenta DW 2070 and my search ended. Read most of the reviews. I said to myself, "thank you Jesus." After a couple of weeks' daily use, I'm very pleased with its performance. Strong steam action, no leaks, shirts look nice and I'm a happy camper. P.S. I always use distilled water which helps to prevent calcium buildup in the vents. This product review comes from yours truly with the "Highly Recommended" tag affixed.

This furnace filter belt is no longer available locally. Thanks to Amazon, we were able to get the exact filter we require for the humidification system on our Heil furnace.

I have used this filter for many years now. The very best home humidification system by far in my opinion. Some people change these several times per winter, but I have always been successful in putting one in when my humidity first falls below 50% (around the first couple of weeks of November), and leave it in until air conditioning season starts here in central NC (around April). One filter per year.

And calling it a filter is not really accurate. It is simply a foam "sponge" that automatically rotates in a pan of water, allowing the circulating air in my HVAC system to evaporate the water from the foam surface, and increasing the humidity in my home to the level we set on the thermostat/humidistat.

While it was a little frustrating to put together as the plastic parts need to snap together and you need a screw driver to wedge the plastic base for the top to fit properly. Make sure you wait 30 minutes after filling, for the wick to absorb the water, as the fan won't work. Also be sure the over hang on the back of the wick filter is hung on the over hang at the back of the base unit. But we started with 34% humidity and in less than 24 hrs it came up to 50%. We used level 3 on the fan, as the higher levels are noisy, but at this level and result for what this product is supposed to do, it was great. Easy to fill, no taking out bottles, just pour into the reservoir. The humidistat on the unit registers too high. I put tape over it and use my small humidistat to measure the humidity. They could have left this part off. Anyway if you want the humidity to raise quickly, this is your item. A lot better than the old filter belt circular kinds.

I have had this unit for several years. It has outlasted all "Sears" brands and models.

Secrets to making it work: I use the 1041 wicks. Every two weeks or so, I take it into the bathroom, pull out the wick and using a hand held shower, spray off the wick thoroughly. This helps lower the mineral build-up and the wick lasts longer. Also I change wicks about every two months. So I need about three for the heating season.

Yes the electronic "humidistat" doesn't work. Simple, I set the unit to a higher humidity than what is displayed. When I want to run it, I turn the unit on. When I want it off, I turn it off. And I use a separate humidity gauge. This one works wonderfully:

As for noise, I only run it on the 2, 3 or 4 level. Yes, you can crank it up, but just like any fan, the more you crank it the louder it gets... and I can hear the TV just fine even when this is running...

It's much easier to carry a bucket of water to this unit to fill it up than clumsy bottles to drag out and carry elsewhere.

GREAT humidifier and I've had this one for several years and if I need another one, I'll hope to get another one of these.

Here's another hint. Don't mount it on the wheels that come with and then put the entire unit on a towel or carpeting scrap. Also helps if you spill a bit of water when filling.

Do NOT forget the bacteriastat either, but be careful when using this additive, as always. And yes, it is normal for the wick itself to be about half dry (at the top) and half wet (at the bottom). The entire wick does NOT need to be saturated soaking wet for this to work as the "well" of water is only the few inches at the bottom...

I paid 113 USD for this unit. It was awkward to use, and felt cheaply made. It did a fine job humidifying the house but the humidistat was broken. Its humidity reading would not drop below 50%, when other humidistats in my home were indicating 30%. According to it, the humidity level was about 60% ! I have found a review elsewhere indicating the same problem. I returned it and bought a unit for 70 USD that works much better.

I followed the instructions by filling the tank, turned on high, and never let it run dry. By mid day 2 the wick was 3/4 dry. The unit on high was so loud that it can be heard on all 3 stories of my house. In their defense, this was my first humidifier. It's going back tomorrow.

We've had one humidifier for 2 years and another for a year (put on on top floor and one on main floor). My only complaint is the sensor is too close to the unit so reads higher than it really is. We wrapped something around the sensor to keep it running. Works nicely and the sound level is perfect for us.
