I purchased this for a very large humidor I purchased. I wasn't sure at first if it would be able to handle the job alone since the humidor is listed as being a 500 capacity. I use only Xikar pg solution and it has worked perfectly so far. It doesn't take up a ton of space, which was very important to me. I check it every four weeks or so and add a bit of solution. Anyone who invests money in cigars should also invest in a digital hygrometer. The Xikar Adjustable Digital Cigar Hygrometer costs a few dollars more than the standard analog models but its accuracy can't be beat. Without going into an extremely long, drawn out review I would like to make a couple of points that might save the would be purchaser some anxiety.

Like most, when I received the Xikar Hygrometer I wanted to get it calibrated and in my humidor as quickly as possible. Per the instructions I first set up my hygrometer at a perfect 75% relative humidity using the Salt Calibration Method. Unfortunately, as one of the other reviewers mention, once I placed the hygrometer in my humidor the relative humidity reading fell below 60%. After a few more tries my first inclination was to fault the digital hygrometer, chalk up the experience as a bust and return the hygrometer to the seller.

Before doing so, I recalibrated the hygrometer one more time using the salt calibration method. This time I threw a couple analog hygrometers in the bag. Once I obtained my 75% reading on the digital hygrometer I also recalibrated the analog models. Once again I placed the digital hygrometer in the humidor (along with the analog) and after a few hours checked my humidor only to find that the relative humidity had plummeted not only on the digital but also on the analog hygrometers.

After a conversation with my local tobacconist and some time spent googling I realized that it was probably not the digital hygrometer that was at fault but my humidor. So here's my point. The product instructions, however scant, leave out an important point that I'll emphasize here. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR HUMIDOR HAS BEEN PROPERLY SET UP (OR SEASONED) BEFORE USING THE DIGITAL HYGROMETER. THIS MEANS YOU HAVE TAKEN THE PROPER STEPS TO ENSURE THAT THE LEVEL OF HUMIDITY IS PROPER AND STABLE AND THAT THE HUMIDOR HAS A GOOD SEAL. A moment spent googling this topic will save you hours (or days) of frustration.

Once you've done so you'll find (as I did) that the Xikar Digital Hygrometer is a great addition to your humidor, is accurate, and will help you maintain your investment in an optimal environment.

Pros:

This XIKAR Digital Round Cigar Hygrometer 832XI Looks sleek and is a small round shape. It attaches from humidor to the Hygrometer using a magnet! Much better than using Velcro.

Cons: Calibration does not work properly. After doing the simple salt calibration test and following all directions that came with my XIKAR Digital Round Cigar Hygrometer 832XI it was still misreading by 5%. My analog hygrometer was reading the correct humidity but the XIKAR was not. Disappointing but I guess I was that 1 out of 100 who received a defective product. Hopefully the new one I ordered will work properly.

The newest model does not allow calibration. Xikar guarantees it to be within +-2%. I did the salt test, and it read smack dab on the money at 75%. Sweet.

I got this hygrometer as a replacement for the analog hygrometer that came with my humidor. I also bought a calibration kit with the hygrometer and I highly recommend doing the same. Calibration of the unit couldn't be simpler; put it in the calibration bag overnight with the display visible through the clear side of the bag. I then simply hit the "calibrate" button on the front of the unit while it was still in the bag and that was it. I've checked it's accuracy three or four times over the past couple of months and it's always been right on the money. The same applies to the thermometer. The unit is solidly built and well packaged. It has a magnetic back and comes with a metallic attachment plate with adhesive on the back. It fit perfectly into the hole that my old analog hygrometer was located in so it looks like it came from the factory that way. Couldn't be happier.

The Digital Round Cigar Hygrometer 832XI looks great. If it only would calibrate. I used the salt method, and tried to calibrate a least a few dozen times. Left it in my humidor for a while then tried later. Still no luck.

Cheap Cool Mist Nursery Humidifier - Dragon

I actually purchase this little guy from somewhere else about a year and a half ago. I use it every night. I have discovered that. It does need to be placed on a table away from walls. So I have it sitting on a plant stand I got at Hobby Lobby cheap and it is approximately 3 foot off the floor and it works GREAT. No filters to hassle with. It does eventually show water build up. However I have found that a little antibacterial soap & a soft kitchen brush will fix it up in a jiffy. I would be lost with out mine hope this works as well for you as it has me.

We have the frog version. It works quite well. But, after three seasons (and, frankly, no maintenance) it's shot. Quality is good but not good enough to handle the abuse a kid puts it through. It is quiet enough to sleep with. It draws air from the bottom with little clearance provided so, it works poorly sitting on carpet or other soft material.

This humidifier works great, very quiet and the adjustable mist flow is nice and my son loves the dragon! However the cap didn't last very long, I've had this humidifier less than a year and the spring in the cap has rusted and is almost completely unuseable. I'm going to have to order a replacement cap now so I can use the humidifier. You would think they would use a more durable metal for a product they know is going to be in water all the time.

I got this for my son and it worked wonderful for the first 9 months. Then it just stopped working. BUT it was my fault for not doing proper maintenace and I left it on the floor on a towel, which it says not to do and I never cleaned it once. I think it worked great with no maintenace for those 9 months. I recently purchesed the same one again and this time I am maintaining it and I'm sure it will last much longer.

My son loves to look at it and I know he will really love it when he's older. It helps so much in the dry winter months and when he has a cold.

My wife and I purchased the Crane baby humidifier (frog) to place in our newborn daughters room shortly after she was born in October of 2011. We used it through the winter of 2011-2012 with no issue, and did not operate it again until this past November/December 2012. Sometime in late January 2013, the unit began to make a strange, straining sound. It still produced cool mist vapor, but we were concerned about fire risk from a strained motor, so we turn it off and called the manufacturer. The Crane representative informed me that they offer a one-year full replacement warranty with receipt and proof of purchase. Since we were outside of the one-year window (even though we only operated the unit for about 7 or 8 months in cumulative time), we did not qualify for the full replacement warranty. When I asked what Crane COULD do for us, the representative presented an "OUT OF WARRANTY REPLACEMENT" offer, which is a $20 discount toward your next Crane humidifier purchased through their web site. Since I am not a propoent of throwing good money after bad (and the potential for two defective Crane humidifiers after spending $70 total), I declined the offer and informed them that I would let other consumers know what Crane thinks of its own products. Save yourself the aggravation. Purchase a product from another manufacturer.

It's beautiful and for the 2 days that it worked I must say I loved it! Very good looking.

Here's the con: I know how to use and run diffusers. I did not overfill this diffuser. I poured water out from it properly

(away from the air vent) so why isn't it working? The instructions do not contain any warranty or service number. The

instructions are clear however. Are there 'loose wires or parts'? I do not know, did not shake it, and heard to moving

parts.

Soooo, If you're up to the gamble of buying one of these that will work then go for it, I did!....But I have had to return it

to Amazon. Amazon informed me that this company has "rotating stock" meaning this may not always be sold by them once they are out of product.

The price is excellent.............I could have been so happy!

The vaporizer is cute and compact, runs all night and half the morning on high without needing to be refilled. Only issue is the blue led lights indicating the high/low setting are so bright! They light up the whole bedroom.. I put a few pieces of masking tape over them and they're fine now :)

We use doTERRA lavender and breathe oils in ours... just one drop and it lasts all night :)

It sounds a little like a drippy faucet or like if it were barely raining outside due to the internal condensation. But it's great for the price!

I'm seriously into the wonderful qualities of Essential Oils, and I'm searching for diffusers to run pretty much full time throughout my house. First of all, I put filtered water into the two MUI Color 600ML diffusers I ordered. The instructions say to use tap water, but I don't even drink straight tap water, and I don't like the thought of diffusing chlorine, fluoride, etc. They shut off after about 5 minutes. So, I had to use tap water. I also don't like that the water to EO ratio is so high. By that I mean, the instructions call for 2 drops of oil in a full tank of water. I can hardly smell the oils I'm trying to permeate the house with for both the beautiful aromas as well as the healing powers. On the plus side, they run a long time, and they're sort of interesting looking. I wanted to put them on 24 hour timers, like 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off, but they don't work on timers because once they shut off, they turn back on only when the button is pushed. I contacted the seller about returning them, but since they actually run, I'd have to pay shipping, so I kept them. They're more of a humidifier than an oil diffuser, so I'll probably use them in winter.

I bought this humidifier to replace another Air-O-Swiss we had. The previous model was great, but we have hard water and it made a mess and finally ruined our machine. I tried to keep up with cleanings, but it was inevitable that it got all gunked up. The machine was great though for its output of mist. With this new machine I have vowed to only use distilled water. A month into it and no white film anywhere. The machine runs like a dream and looks brand new even after a month. It is worth every penny to put in distilled water. I worried about about buying a refurbished machine, but so far, so good.

Was worried about spending this kind of money for a humidifier, especially a refurbished one. So far I haven't had any issues, works great, no white dust or soaked floors. I was a little proactive though, using my PUR water filter to filter the water, even though the water here is very good. Also I placed a small fan right next to the humidifier pointed up, to help disperse the water vapor better.
