as others have pointed out, this filter is absolutely horrible. the hamilton beach (blue) filter lasted easily 4 months with proper care (i have been using this humidifier model for 10 years), and its structural integrity was not the reason i finally had to replace. the "new" graco filter starts falling apart big-time as soon as it first gets wet. do not buy. i notice that hamilton beach still sells the filter this "replaces," and am going to see if it is the original design. shame shame graco.

I cleaned the unit (Graco 4-gallon cool mist) every day and filled it with water run through a very good quality countertop filter. Even doing this, I went through two of these $11 filters per WEEK (TWENTY-FOUR TIMES as many filters as stated by the manufacturer!), and simply couldn't afford to spend nearly $90 a month (just in filters!) to run a humidifier. That is, putting it simply, absolutely insane. Design is faulty -filtered water shouldn't trash a brand-new filter in less than four days. I don't know anyone who could afford $90 a month for humidifier filters.

Not sure what's going on with particular brand of replacement filter... I run my Graco Humidifier about 9hrs at a time and the level of water consumed from the tank is not noticeable I'm talking day 1 out of the box. With the other filters I have used (not the one I am reviewing), I would easily go through almost an entire tank. I won't be buying this brand again.

Graco should be ashamed for selling this product as it is now! The filter works ok with the humidifier that it is designed for, but they have chosen to make it CHEAPER in order to increase their profit. The quality of the filter they now produce is totally inferior to the one with the blue layer. It is now all white and the outer webbing is disintegrating while wet. This obviously means that I will have to replace the filter more often. I use filtered rainwater in the humidifier as my well water is very hard and in my opinion should not be used in any humidifier. Overall, the Graco humidifier works very well but this new filter is basically worthless!

We've been very pleased with this humidifier, but find the replacement filters a little costly considering how often we replace them. It's worth it though for how happy we've been with the product.

Don;t really know if these filters work because I don't know how to tell that. However, the price was great (beat our local prices by 50%) and the service fast. Would highly recommend this purchase. The filters do grab tons of dog hair (and you can actually scoop out the dog hairwe have four dogs and a cat). They last much longer than the smaller filters and came with a great review from our local HVAC company that charged us twice this price for them.

I would recommend them and would highly recommend this source for purchases.

I have a stainless steel pet drinking fountain. It's about a year old and has calicum build-up on the drain slide. I let the dish soak in the CLR for hours and then scrubbed the heck out of it. It didn't even remove a little bit of the calicum. I was really disappointed. I did not add any water to the mix just straight solution.

I have found 2 great immediate uses for this product:

1. I live where the standard water supply frankly stinks and foams coming out of the faucet and I don't trust its safety. Therefore, I only drink water that has been boiled. This is done in a very long lived Revere ware kettle and it has built up a layer of calcium over the years that has threatened the life of the kettle. Don't want to lose this kettle; it is old and the newer Chinese made versions start leaking very early. Boiled a slightly diluted mixture of this CLR in the kettle and the calcium has been dissipated and I can see no damage to the kettle. Problem solved!

2. I repair, clean and refinish brass musical instruments that, over time, tend to build up a corrosive green copper gunk inside that becomes nasty to clean up. After completely stripping down the instrument, I wash it inside and out with a diluted solution of CLR using stiff nylon and brass brushes to scour the insides of all tubing. Works like a champ!

I'm certain that I can find other uses for this wonder chemical and plan on using it for years to come.

Nothing fancy, but needed to replace my other filter that had some type of crusty build up on it. I washed it several times but the velcro lost it's sticky after multiple washings so I bought these. Priced right, these work like a charm and my humidifier works as it should.

This is a great device. You can't beat the price, the quality, the ease of installation. It's great. We love it, completely satisfied. The display unit does not mount to a wall. The exterior wind gauge needs to be precisely mounted to get correct wind direction and does, as we are finding out, prefer to be high on the peak of a roof rather than off the edge of a deck (our deck is about 20 ft above ground level)...in other words, the higher the better.

Overall, if you are a weather nerd and want a weather nut enthusiast grade weather station, this is the one for you. I would highly recommend this unit!

The Weather Station WS-1913TWC-IT-SAL from La Crosse Technology is an inexpensive home weather station that is fairly easy to get working. The issues start when you attempt to mount the console and the wind probe and temperature/sending unit. The directions are typical for products made in China: the print size is really small, too general or misleading or incomplete instructions, and the graphics are almost useless. Phone calls and emails to La Crosse Technology were answered, but only after repeated calls and complaints. The responses were erroneous and reflected little knowledge about the product beyond the printed instructions. When I asked for some better details on installing the probes they emailed me a link to their PDF manual the same one that I got in the box.

The biggest problem I had was the erroneous claim that the console could be hung on a wall. One of the La Crosse reps said it could be hung on a nail. Take a look at the slanted curved rear of the console and you can clearly see it CAN NOT BE HUNG UP. She insisted it was suppose to hang from the non-centered tiny hole in the back of the console, a reset hole I believe. The box and the user manual clearly state the console can be hung up. The La Crosse people finally acknowledged the unit can not be hung up. They claim " Unfortunately, the wall hanging option is not available on this model. The indication was a misprint which we apologize for." We specifically purchased this model because it could be wall mounted. Thus, we returned the unit and are looking for a different model from a different company.

If you are looking for an inexpensive weather station with a free standing console this model may be okay. Personally, I'm looking for a product with better customer and technical support, even if it costs me more.

This station offered the features that you would want to be aware of before stepping outside. I found the wireless range to be sufficient to place the sensors well out from the house. My only gripe is that the wind rotors are rather flimsy and I am on my third set. La Crosse will not warranty the rotors and you have to buy them from a separate vendor.

I have owned the unit not long enough to go through a set of batteries; yet the display dimmed to almost the point where it could not be seen. After contacting La Crosse I put in new batteries (tested for strength and yes they were fresh and full strength according to my Greenlee DM-20). Greenlee DM-20 Manual Ranging Digital Multimeter With Test Lead Now there is no readout on the display.

I went through the full procedure on how to first load the batteries on the sending units then the receiving unit more than once. Still no display.

La Crosse must be run over by customer problems if the responses are indicative of situation. I have used the email approach and have called neither time did I receive much in the way of real help. Yes the instructions are confusing and the unit does not report wind direction that is an error in the instructions and a lacking in the unit. I hope I can find my receipt not bought at Amazon but a big box store. I have had it not a year the warranty is for one year. I anticipate La Crosse will tell me tough luck. My response will be predictable.

If it worked then I would have been pleased certainly not top of the line but promised to report basic information. $90 is not cheap I'll explore for another unit, but there are not many makers of these devices; although there seem to be endless iterations of slightly different models.

The La Crosse weather center was very easy to set up. It comes with the hardware to attach the exterior wind gauge. However, the hardware is made for a very slender bar. I used an old bird feeder stand to mount the wind gauge. The description does not say anything about a cable that goes from the wind gauge to the exterior sensor. The sensor gets the best reception right outside the window where the inside unit is. Therefore, there is a long cable that is stretched across my yard to the wind sensor. Mounting on the roof of the house is the best suggestion I have. Don't know how accurate the wind gauge is. I also can't comment on the accuracy of the barometer. It does seem to change during storms.

Overall, a good product for minimal weather information. It's great for immediate temperature and winds.
