I purchased this model about 2 years ago. We live in Nothern MN and in the winter it is very dry. This particular humidifier we use in my 4 year old son's room. This past weekend my wife and I awoke to the sound of a fire alarm and the smell of smoke. We quickly got up and I ran for the fire extinguisher in the kitchen. I realized it was coming from upstairs. As I ran through the hallway I saw my son standing there shaking. I ran into the stairwell and saw smoke. When I got upstairs it was filled with thick gray smoke. I went into my son's room and saw the humidifier belching smoke. I immediately unplugged the machine and opened the windows to get a breath. The humidifier malfunctioned. When it runs out of water it is supposed to enter a stand-by mode. Instead it kept operating a nd melted through the bottom, through the area rug, and scorched the wooden floor underneath. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MODEL HUMIDIFIER! Purchased this unit because of the price and it was filter free. Worked well for a few months and then quit working. The reset light wont turn off. I have followed the cleaning directions as stated in the directions and am now left with a unit that does nothing. Don't waste your money on this. I am never buying another unit from them again.

I ordered this unit used because I know the hit and miss with humudifiers. First the unit is quite large, the water tank is odd shaped and doesn't hold enough water for me personally. It also leaks a small amount on the rear of the unit directly below the screw, on high I would call the amount significant. Running on setting number 2 or high the water supply last approx 5 to 6 hours. It works well and puts out a decent amount of moisture but I would not purchase again.

Cheap model, no humidistat, runs continuously until empty. Sounds like a coffee percolator that you can hear throughout the adjacent rooms. Sunbeam should stay with kitchen appliances like their toasters that were the best. Took it back to Walmart. The whole water tank gets very warm, waste of electricity!!

My mother has one for over 2 years and it worked flawlessly and whisper quiet. Then, filling it one day, she dropped the tank and it cracked around the bottom seam. I went to Walmart to buy another, set it up, and it: 1)was already cracked at the top (which I did not notice until later) and 2)leaked no matter what I did to re-seat the tank and investigate the problem. Returned it to Walmart and used a good clear 2-part epoxy Loctite Megabond Poxy-Pak Fast Cure Clear Two-Part Epoxy, 1 oz syringe to seal and fix my mother's cracked tank. Now her unit works perfectly again. I would definitely buy another, despite recently getting a defective one. It's just continued to work so perfectly for my mother.

The advertisement for this product was very well written, describing a product that is far from what you get.

The humidifier is NOISY on the lowest setting. If you put it on the high setting it sounds like a FREIGHT TRAIN is coming. Also, I have had it three weeks and the filters are disgusting already and needs constant cleaning. I requested Amazon directions on how to return this product. Very UNSATISIFIED with this purchase.

Went through three humidifiers then i found this one. It lasted the longest out of all of the humidifiers I have tried. I just change the filter when it gets dirty and its worth it. It is not easy to clean, but I suggest a little bleach in the water once a week, just to prevent it from getting moldy or musty.

Each filter is wrapped in plastic shrink wrap only and they are not identified as a Honeywell product. They appear to be an after-market item being sold as OEM.

Also, the filters came with minimal packaging protection and the corners are slightly damaged but still usable.

I have to agree with the other reviewer. The pump on my fountain is very noisy. I followed the directions concerning rinsing all the parts, making sure the water was full, etc, etc. Bottom line, this is too noisy (the motor noise, not the softly gurgling water) to ever be enjoyed in my intended location, my office. What's worse, this morning, I called Homedics customer service. The middle-aged female who answered curtly told me that this pump was not replaceable. She said that I would have to return the entire fountain to my place of purchase. I pointed out that the product shipped with a published, 1 year warranty in the box. This seemed to make no difference. I was told that my only option was to return the product. This is really too bad, since the fountain looks nice and is solidly built. My very bad experience with Homedics customer service will mean that I won't by any more of their products.

Interestingly, I have had the opposite experience as the previous reviewer with this item.

The motor buzzes, not very loudly, but just enough to be annoying. The water does make a nice trickling sound, but you can still hear the motor over it.

The stone texture is okay. But what detracts the most from its appearance is the "steps" that the water moves down. In the picture on Amazon and on the product box/packaging, these steps are all virtually straight, giving it a nice horizontal aesthetic. But in actuality, they all point downwards at about 15-20 degrees. It looks terrible! Gross misrepresentation.

I guess you get what you pay for.

I was looking for a small, relaxing indoor fountain. The title of this fountain says it all. It looks great and gives a nice "zen" feel.

The only gripe I have is that there is basically zero noise. It is nice that there is no noise from the motor, but I would have liked some water sound. However, this was not promised in the product's description...

So if you would like a small, relaxing, very quiet, nice looking indoor fountain then this could be for you.

This is a review of the El Rey Humidor (150 capacity) not a specific vendor. I've had mine for about a year and it works fine. I do not use the provided humidifiers or hygrometer. Instead I recommend the Xikar adjustable calibration round digital hygrometer thermometer and the C-250 crystal gel cigar humidifier by Quality Importers. This humidor looks good and it consistently maintains a 70 degree/70% humidity level.

We have been trying for 2 months now, since Nov, 2009 to get a refund from Cheaphumidors on a similar humidor a friend purchased through Cheaphumidors website for my birthday. I found the product to be unsatisfactory. The drawers did not seal properly. We returned it to Cheaphumidors in the specified return time with insurance and tracking. CH is saying they did not receive the return, even though USPS shows it was delivered and that they can not find my order. Their customer service rep is doing everything she can to say they do not know of the order or of the return. I would not recommend this vendor. Since we first ordered, we have read other reviews mentioning how they do not honor their return policy all the time. As an avid cigar smoker, I will not purchase from Cheaphumidors. I'm still looking for that perfect humidor, though.

Review of Prestige Import Group the Chateau Small Humidor (Cherry)

At first glance this is not a bad little humidor for under $20 bucks. But when you compare it to similar priced boxes by company's like quality imports also available on Amazon this thing falls WAY short. The box is made of Very Little wood i'd say 98% of it construction is some sort of particle board. The inside is lined with the thinnest of cedar veneer and the outside paper thin almost sticker like cherry wood veneer. The Seal is a joke as there is not much of a lip to create a tight seal. I have a small unit from Quality Importers I got on Amazon that actually had small magnets inside the Real Wood lid and body that gave extra seal and was about the same price as this unit. My recommendation Even if you are a casual smoker or novice. Save yourself and your cigars the trouble pay an extra $5 bucks and get the Quality imports version.

This is a great buy! Much cheaper than available elsewhere! The only issue is that there is no instruction manual for how to fill the chamber and what to do, so you're on your own with that!

I'm reluctant to admit I had neglected the regular maintenance of my Carezza espresso machine for a year or two. While waiting for the Durgol Decalcifier to arrive in the mail, I flushed the machine with vinegar and cleaned the parts as described to get the cleaning process started. The machine still didn't work right. This Durgol product arrived today and I again flushed the machine according to directions, using this decaldifier. I'm amazed at the amount of sludge and disgusting grime that came out! This product is wonderful and has restored my espresso maker.

I bought a Capresso glass electric tea kettle and used for the first time spring water as I do prefer this than filtered drinking water for coffee and tea. After several uses, the chrome heating element became so corroded, and this spring water is bottled by the way, so I was forced to do some research.

On Amazon I found the above product and tried it. WOW, after following the directions, within a few minutes the chrome bubble in the glass carafe was shiny and new.

I was so impressed I then used it in my Meile washing machine, again very impressive, laundry came out lovely. By the way, the bottle doesn't say any thing about using it in a washer. In the UK, I can buy Calgon Tablets for this. Here in USA, I could not find Calgon at all for my washer.

Highly recommend this product.

In Switzerland, Durgol is sold in half-gallon plastic bottles at a very low price in most supermarkets, inexpensive even even when considering the strong Swiss currency. The espresso cleaner in the U.S. sells for about $6.82 for a 4.2 ozs plastic bottle. This extends to a price of $52.00 per quart or $208 per gallon! The product works very well, in fact just as well as regular white vinegar. After all, just about all mild acids work as well as the hydrochloric acid in Durgol in removing Calcium deposits. The Durgol Multipurpose Decalcifier, a very similar product, comes in an equally mysterious size.

I suggest that Durgol be more honest in the merchandising of its product and not hide the actual size of its products on your website. The pictures on the website are very deceptive.

I ran this cleaner through my drip coffee machine and the coffee tastes better... product is good.

The bottle asks you to use 1 or 2 cups of cleaner per cleaning; I ran it through with 1 cup for a 12 cup drip machine and it cleaned it well.

I think you have 6 cups of cleaner in one bottle.

Nice compact size-can be moved easily. Does freshen the air in the room noticeably. On whisper setting is almost silent. On Turbo setting can be heard but in no way impinges on life, maybe would sleeping. Does shoot out air but does not "blow" with any force. Over time, like a day, all the air in our 20'x20' living area changes. Did have a noticeable plastic like new odor the first few days of use which wore off. Haven't had any build up on the collection grid in these 2 weeks, but it would be easy to clean. Now after several months of use I change my 4 stars to 1. The low setting quit. The ozone emitted gave us headaches and irritated lungs. Ozone is toxic. I returned the product for a refund.

I ordered this unit, not expecting to much considering its size and price, and the name, but i was, to say the least, pretty impressed. On silent it does not move air, period, and there is a "hisssss" that can be annoying. On "turbo" i.e. a fan moving the air, there isn't a hiss and it is fairly quiet, i couldn't hear it over my ceiling fan. After about a day i opened it up and looked at the collection filter, and as i suspected i didn't see anything, but i took a damp clean white paper towel and wiped it off, and lo and behold there was actually stuff that came off. I was suprised, and thought it might have just been dust and stuff that were there already, so i put the filter back in and a couple days later i cleaned it again, and there was more. The only reason i give this a 4 is because on mine the switch broke and i could not turn it off.

It worked more or less ok for a few months except for the dang ozone smell you get sometimes, and then a few days ago I decided to clean the inside tube but after I reinserted it the thing stopped working. They designed this so poorly that the switch to turn it on is embedded with the button to take the removable panel off so any slight force will break the whole darn thing.

I was close to order an oreck one for cheap but decided against it and cancelled the order after learning you have to buy new filters. Was deciding to get the XL model but learned those things are garbage as well after reading the negative reviews.

I have severe allergies so i guess I'll figure out other homeopathic remedies to relieve my symptoms.

You need a new one of these every year, and this is a good, cheap way to buy them. It's a quick ship and they come undamaged.

One thing I would counsel you about is to notice there in the picture the red dot on one end of the filter. That red dot has to go up when the filter is installed. These filters have a clear red dot. Another brand I purchased did not, and I guess I installed it upside down and it made one heck of a mess. You want the ones with the red dot clearly marked.

One final thing: these things are a bit prickly. I don't use gloves to install them, but I am careful. If you drop one of these on your bare leg, you're going to cut yourself all up. Be careful.
