It does a great job at keeping my humidor between 68-72 consistantly. Before this I tried many other devices where the humidity level fell into the low 60s often.

These filters are as good as the original filters. They turned yellow the first week and began to stink by the third week. So you definitely have to change them out the fourth week.

Reviews of Carters Easy Fit Printed Crib Fitted Sheet
We got several of this style sheet, as well as several of the easy-fit sateen sheets. The sateen ones are great, and after 20 months still fit on the mattress, but this style shrank to the point that it no longer fits at all. Waste of money.

I cannot believe all the great reviews. I never even got to use these sheets because they shrank to 50% of the original size when I washed/dryed them for the first time (and our dryer doesn't even get hot). I was a stupid first time mom who registered for 4 sets and washed all of them together. Had to purchase another sheet set (2) which we've used for 2 1/2 years. This was washed twice with fabric softener both times before even attempting to put on bed and it is still a really rough texture. I would not sleep on this myself. Terrible product by Carter's. There are lots of two and three-year-old reviews saying these sheets shrink. Well, the company must have fixed that problem because I've washed and dried these sheets at least two dozen times now. I have two boys in cribs on two different brands of mattresses. Not only do they still fit, but they might have actually gotten even softer over time! I've had these sheets for 17 months. I love the print (blue and brown polka dot), but they are thin, they shrink, and pill up after a few washes. I don't think they are very soft and actually prefer the solid Koala Baby Flannel from Babies R Us as far as softness. Warm Mist Humidifier Color: White Reviews
My daughter got this humidifier and I liked how attractive it was. I live where the winters are very cold, so with the heat on all the time the air gets dry and creates electricity in the air. The result is it makes your hair stand out, and you can't touch your pets without shocking them. I wanted a humidifier that wasn't an eye soar in the living room.
I ordered one for myself and am very happy with the appearance, how quiet it is, and how wonderfully it works. I reccomend this product.

Review of BISSELL 3270 Flip-It Pad and Filter Pack
If you have a Flip-it, this kit is well worth purchasing. You get two additional cloth cleaners plus an extra filter.
The filter is the real necessity -after you use the Flip-it you can rinse out the filter and set it out to dry. Put the second (dry) filter in the unit so you're ready to go next time. Then, just keep alternating.
Granted, if you only have one filter you can let it dry and then put it back in. But, I tend to forget to do that, so having 2 filters makes it more convenient.
The cloths last a long time -wish Bissell provided 2 filters and one cloth in the kit. But, fair price for what you get.
Pro: With this kind of cleaning equipment, a back-up filter and cleaning pads are a necessity.
Con: Would have also like to get an additional filter and one brush with this accessory kit (priced accordingly with regard to a kit purchase).
Recommendation: Purchase on sale and definitely with free shipping to justify cost. I have found these items packaged separately at higher price at other stores. Con would not exist if Bissell had included brush and additional brush. Purchase would have earned 5 stars if the items in the Con area had been included.
Tip: Be sure to always dry vac. hard floor before using wet vac. Yes it sounds obvious, but having once forgot to dry vac. floor before washing, the amount of time to wet vac. floor was ridiculous. Brush and pad needed constant cleaning. Filter was worse, greatly reduced vacuum draw of dirty water due to blockage by debris, especially pet hair. Almost considered using garden hose to wet down floor and then squeegee the mess out the kitchen door. Not a good thing!

I own the Bissell Flip-It wet/dry vacuum cleaner. I have had occasional problems with the vacuums filter getting wet and or clogged with debris thus reducing its ability to vacuum up the dirty water from the floor. Aggravating! The extra filter would significantly reduce this aggravation. Extra cleaning pads are good to have available for replacement of the primary pad if it becomes extremely dirty. I agree with the other reviewer--the picture *is* misleading. Bissell does actually sell the pad/brush combination. Amazon should strive to make sure the picture does represent the product or give a clearly seen disclaimer. I'm sure this product is great with the right wet mop! It was recomended with when I bought my flip ease, and I thought "why not?!" It goes to a completely different model, which I didn't figure out until after I opened it. It doesn't come with the red scrubber in the picture either. Cheap Aprilaire / Generalaire 4040 Humidifier Solenoid Valve
I'm an HVAC technician, and have replaced dozens of these. Remember to order an Aprilaire 4004 In-Line Strainer and the correct orifice for your humidifier model when you order this solenoid valve, because it doesn't come with them. If you forget the orifice, don't be surprised when water starts gushing out of the humidifier, because the orifice regulates the amount of water fed to it. The strainer goes in the long end of the solenoid fitting, and the orifice in the short end.
Aprilaire 4231 Yellow Orifice: Aprilaire models 400, 500, 550, 550A, 560, 568 & 600.
#4021 Aprilaire Red Orifice: Aprilaire models 112 & 224.
#4232 Aprilaire Blue Orifice: Aprilaire models 350, 360, 440, 700, 760, 760A & 768.
#4007 Aprilaire White Orifice: Aprilaire models 110 & 220.
Option 1 was to call my furnace company and have them come replace it. My guestimate was $100-150 to make that happen. While they are normally worth every penny, in this case I struggled to justify spending that much for so simple a fix. So I started snooping on the web and found this replacement part here on Amazon.
I could not be HAPPIER! It took me all of about 10 minutes (and I am NOT a skilled plumber!) to swap out my old solenoid for this one, wire it up, and give it a try. It works PERFECTLY! Now, to be clear, you will need some tools. An adjustable wrench and screw driver are musts obviously, but what some people may overlook is you may need a copper tubing cutter. When I removed the old one, the old copper fitting would not fit properly in the new solenoid, so I had to cut it off and installed the new fitting that came with this valve. Other than that, installation was a breeze!
Let me clarify a few items that I saw mentioned in other reviews:
First, this solenoid DOES ALREADY have a strainer on the inlet! Do not waste your money buying a new one, as recommended in other reviews and as shown in the "bundle" in the ordering area on Amazon. The filter is built in, and in fact if you bought another, you would be unable to make it fit.
Second, this solenoid DID FIT in the exact mounting holes that the old one used. Maybe I was just lucky, but I saw others say theirs did not fit. Admittedly the tubing routing had to be shifted a bit (this solenoid is not the exact same size as the old one), but the mounting holes lined up perfectly.
Finally, YES you must use a yellow orifice (or whatever color is right for your Aprilaire) to restrict flow on the outlet... BUT before you buy one, take out your old solenoid and see if you ALREADY have one that is in good shape! I wasted a few bucks on a new yellow orifice when in fact the old one was perfectly fine and went right back into service with the new solenoid.
It remains to be seen how long this solenoid will last, but I am VERY happy with this one so far. With about 10 minutes of work I saved myself probably $100 in repair fees and now my water is not running down the drain 24x7!

[UPDATE]: This is my second heating season (2013) and this valve is still going strong, no problems with the valve or humidifier. As I said above, this valve is built much heavier that the original factory model. I am very pleased.
[UPDATE]: Finished my 2013 heating season, valve still going strong. I have saved $200 on OEM valve replacements. This is a great item.

About a week ago I noticed that when my furnace was off...my Aprilaire humidifier just kept running. Well, to be more specific, the water flow into the Aprilaire was remaining on. At first I feared the control system in the furnace was failing to send the "close valve" signal. But a bit of investigation uncovered the culprit: the solenoid valve was "leaking"! When the furnace was running, it dutifully sent an "open valve" signal, and the solenoid fired as usual, sending water to the Aprilaire. But when the furnace shut off (and/or the humidity set point had been reached), the signal to "close valve" was properly sent, but the solenoid did not fully close. The water supply decreased, but there was significant leakage passed the seat of the valve, causing the water to run down the drain 24x7.Option 1 was to call my furnace company and have them come replace it. This company does not ship what is pictured. They ship a cheaper imitation part from China. It will work but does not fit like the original. They should be ashamed of themseves for misleading people with what is described and pictured. I went with this company for all the good reviews and thought that I would get what was pictured to avoid the cheaper imitations. I will complain to Amazon but at least the part does work for now or at least the last 15 minutes as I just installed. The HVAC company did a winter tuneup on our furance. They mentioned our Aprilaire 550 humidifer wasn't working and quoted $230 to repair it (including a new solonoid). I bought this solenoid and a maintence kit (pad, hose, etc.) on Amazon all for $70 including shipping. Simple 30 minute install and the humidifer is working like new again. I have a history of a recurring problem of the valve malfunctioning every year. The valve manufacturer is some outfit in Wisconsin and they charged almost $100. Sure enough, the valve failed again in one year. So this is the 3rd I have replaced. I will see if it lasts. One thing I notice is that this is heavier and a bit larger than the OEM valve. It is quieter and has a more solid feel to it. It fit the mounting fine on my Aprilair 440, no problems there. They do not give you a new in-line screen or a flow-reduction fitting, but all I did was turn the tap-in valve from my water source lower and that controls the amount of water flowing into the humidifier, so who needs them and why pay another $10? Works great. Its been 3 weeks and so far working fine. I'm hoping...I did purchase this from Amazon.

Buy WWHM7250 White-Westinghouse Humidifier Wick Filter (2 Pack)
These came promptly and look just like what they will replace. They are in fact 6-7/8" by 7-1/8 by 1", not 6-1/2" by 7-1/4" by 1" like described. Hopefully they will fit in the slot and be fine. Not quite ready to replace the old one yet. Wish me luck.

The Traveler - Traveling Humidors (Burl) Reviews
This is a nice little humidor for those who are starting off or who want a traveling humidor. The outside of the humidor feels a little plastic-y and the seal could be better (when doing the dollar bill test, the bill comes out pretty easily), but for $8 you shouldn't be expecting more. The best part of this humidor is the humidifier; instead of the usual foam based humidifier, it looks like this puck is filled with crystal beads, which is great! You definitely can't beat the value of this humidor.

This humidor is a good value for the money. I have kept it in a desk drawer at work and it will fit in a suitcase or overnight bag -just make sure you use rubber bands to keep the box shut while in transit! The floral-foam disc is a necessary touch, because there's not much room for anything larger to keep cigars properly moistened. There are far better humidors for displaying cigars and long-term storage, but this is just the ticket for a knockaround box that won't break the bank.Wednesday, January 29, 2014

We have really hard water and I was always having to use a pumice stone to remove the hard water ring from my toilet bowl. No more! I have not had that awful ring since I got this. I wish I had tried it years ago; it actually does work. So simple and inexpensive and such a help. Love it.

This was my second purchase of these cleaners. The previous ones worked really well, and I didn't have to constantly remove stains from the toilet bowl for the better part of four months. However, this shipment didn't have the same result. We have a really high level of magnesium in the water here, and the orange stains are everywhere. Perhaps it is the time of year, and that the water is just overloaded, but within a couple of days, the toilet stains began reappearing. These don't seem to work. I have used similar products, and it seemed like the bowl needed fewer cleanings. Luvable Friends 4 Count Flannel Receiving Blanket Set Reviews
We found these Luvable Friends 4-Pack Flannel Receiving Blankets to be very pretty, too small in size, and of not of such good quality compared to other receiving blankets that we purchased.
If you have money to spend, try Aden & Anais (47" x 47"). If you can sew, you can easily and economically make your own. After I got these, my mother-in-law made me nice big ones out of really soft flannel. I use them for everything!

I ordered these to get some cheap receiving blankets, so I wasn't expecting great quality. The blankets are thin and small, which was fine because we're using them mostly as covers and burp clothes, not for swaddling. However, two of the blankets aren't even square, the edges are off by about 6 inches. These are way too small and virtually useless as receiving blankets for swaddling. I have a 5 lb. baby and cannot even wrap her with these. However, they do wash up to be quite soft and decently absorbent. The one pack I received as a baby shower gift is now being used as second rate burp cloths (since I have really good burp cloths that I prefer more). The prints and color combos are cute enough. But the edges are not nicely finished and they just look of low quality. If you are buying receiving blankets to swaddle your baby, don't buy anything that measures less than 40" x 40".
