I was referred to Boveda by a trusted cigar enthusiast who swore by them. I was excited to try them out in my three rack home humidor. After being patient for several days the humidity level dropped significantly, however on the positive has held steady, just not at the expected range based on the product specs. I enjoy the premise of the product however it just isnt for me and my cabinet. I may not purchase these again unless someone can prove me its a worthy year round investment.

This is an incredible heater that has kept my child's room warm for 2 winters with no problems. That room use to be very chilly in the winter as the HVAC doesn't cover it evenly. This sits in the corner and takes up no space at all. The dog even sleeps in that room and loves the warmth. I know that they are perfectly safe in there with a heater that can't possibly start a fire. I looked at some other popular "zone heaters" but this one has much nicer features (like the 12 hour timer), costs less for the same BTUs, and is the only one I could find that was so small.
Before I purchased one I had already checked them all out. This is a well established firm that builds high quality highly rated products on the high end.
The air purifier which is part of the unit is worth as much as the heater so how can you lose.
I use my heater in the quiet mode and seldom turn it up. Most of the time its supplies all the heat for the ground floor, 865 s.f. but the bedroom doors are closed when not in use. The first month I used it our electric bill went up $18.00.
You will find the heat to be exceedingly comfortable for an electric heater. The heater its self hardly get warm. If you are willing to follow my advice you should purchase one and see if you like it. You will. If you are expecting to use it differently you may need to go for central heating. Use the product as it was designed to be used. Leave the furnace off. If you want more even heat than purchase two or three heaters but if they are running all the time expect to pay for it. I'm going to purchase another heater this year for room down stairs in my finished basement with an exposed wall. Unless your are on natural gas, the days of cheap energy are over. Almost anyone can do this easily and safely.
It has easy handles for transport, has a heavy duty cord & plug. It can heat a 10 X 10
room EASILY. Bigger rooms are a challenge but hey, this thing is pretty small. You can't
expect it to heat a huge room. I love my heater and use it often. I trust it and find the
added bonus of an AIR CLEANER a very nice feature. In a few years, expect to replace the air
cleaner bulb if you want the air cleaning feature to be optimum. I absolutely recommend
this heater.

I bought one at a log home show in Essex Jct., VT two years ago. These heaters will maintain temperature and raise it within reason. They are very efficient. If you do not have humdtity up there, I believe 40%, then you should purchase the larger model that has a built in humidifier. The heat travels through the moisture. These heaters are not intended to replace a much larger heat source such as central heating or a wood stove that can raise temperature from below freezing to comfortable room temperatures. They do an excellent job of holding temperature and raising it within a much narrower range which most purchasers will find quite satisfactory. Remember its only 1500 watts maximum. That make for very inexpensive heat. With oil and gas costing as much as electricity this is a much more efficient route. If you heat the areas you are using rather than from wall to wall that alone will save you about 25% in heat. In Europe they only use focused heat because energy supplies are so expensive. Many large building like churches are not heated at all. Before I purchased one I had already checked them all out. I have an edenpure heater that is larger than this unit and cost quite a bit more and this heater does a much better job. It heats better on a lower setting (68) than my other heaters do at high (13-15). It is also quieter and takes up less space, this is a great value.Monday, December 8, 2014
Reviews of Honeywell Replacement Filter for Holmes Cool Moisture Humidifier

This Replacement filter works perfectly on my Honeywell HCM-6000. I found that the filter will last longer if you flip it every other water fill up. This will not allow any one side to stay in the water too long and turn sour.
What the manufacture does not warn you about is that HC-14 filter lasts 2 months (at least in Northern Virginia) . By the end of the second month one can pump maybe 2 gallons a day. I never had a filter that lasted 3 months (and, yes, I perform the prescribed maintenance).
Thus, if you want to use Honeywell QuietCare humidifier be prepared to shell out around $10-15 per months on replacement filters and ProTech cartridges.
I felt a little "bait and switched" because the title of this product implies this is a Honeywell product. It's not.
I've got 3 of these so I'll run through these and then update my rating.
UPDATE: Feb. 2009
I've now run through 3 of these filters. Don't let the earlier (2006, 2007) positive reviews of this filter fool you. It's far inferior to the genuine HC-14 filter with the blue outer covering. My humidifier was constantly running the entire 3 months I was using these filters. The humidifier could never reach or maintain my desired humidity level. Last week when I switched to the genuine filter not only did it reach my desired humidity level (40-45%) it only needs to switch on half the time to maintain that level.
The difference in efficiency is astonishing.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a vendor on Amazon selling the genuine filter. I needed to do a web search to find the product.

Honeywell humidifier is one of very few devices that can pump several gallons of water into the air to humidify the whole house. 9 gallons a day is what Honeywell advertises. It does its job but at a price that Honeywell does not advertise. What the manufacture does not warn you about is that HC-14 filter lasts 2 months (at least in Northern Virginia) . Replacement filter works well. Tends to form a bit of mold and musty smell if left sitting in water while humidifier is not running. I suggest always running your humidifier completely out of water before shutting it off.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Honeywell Replacement Filter for Holmes Cool Moisture Humidifier
There seems to be a price discrepancy. I ordered this product at $31.99 each, but when it was delivered it was the same as a similar filter that is listed for $9.99. There are two different products shown at this site that are both called Honeywell HC-14 Filter E. In fact, they are the same product listed at two different prices. Do not buy the product shown in the ad because it is priced $22 more than it should be. Buy the one listed for $9.99.Sunday, December 7, 2014
The Sharper Image EV-HD10 Cool Mist Ultrasonic 1-Gallon Humidifier Reviews
I purchased this ultrasonic humidifier a year ago for my two boys, who seem to always be congested either with colds or seasonal allergies or due to the dry air from our A/C. Prior to having this one, we went through a couple humidifiers (either warm or cool mist) a season because they either broke down, didn't do a good enough job, leaked, or were too difficult to clean. This humidifier works like a DREAM and is so very VERY easy to clean. I love that I can turn the dial to output the desired amount of mist. It's super quiet, too. I know others have said they've had problems with theirs being too noisy or becoming noisy after awhile, but I have not experienced that problem. I've also read that some complain about the demineralization cartridge not working for as long as stated or costing too much. I can agree and sympathize there, but folks...you don't have to buy that cartridge. Just use distilled water. It does the same job, and you can pick up the gallong jugs from your grocery store. While this humidifier IS easy to clean, the manufacturer recommends you do clean the water tank every two to three weeks as well as the water inlet and ultrasonic nebulizer, which are behind a panel that pops off. Don't forget that little bit of maintenance; it's important. I have to say, I LOVE that there are no mold issues with this humidifier compared to other cheaper ones I have used. All in all, after having gone through a multitude of humidifiers before purchasing this one I would recommend it hands down. Best humidifier purchase yet!
Fast forward to our new Sharper Image humidifier. Filled up the tank, plugged it in, and instantaneous mist! I probably played with the thing for 5min just amazed at the ultrasonic technology. There literally is just a tiny plate that vibrates with such a high frequency that it creates this misty, fog like stream of vapor. The different level settings work out well to it's not a simply high, med, low it's a turn dial so it's easy to get it at the exact output you're looking for. We've found that a mid-high level will keep the bedroom at a nice humidity and the tank lasts about 3-4 days (running only at night). Noise level is almost silent. The best part? The inside doesn't get a disgusting since it's ultrasonic so no more daily cleaning! After a month of use I opened the thing up to scrub it down, and there was barely any residue or film to clean. The negatives? You will get the "white dust" around the room if you don't put demineralization tablets in a on monthly basis, and having a cool mist can be a little chilling in the winter until your heating catches up with it. All in all we highly recommend this humidifier.
The GOOD:
-Super quiet
-Tank lasts 3-4 days when run at night, med level
-Minimal to no cleaning required
-Keeps our air humid but not saturated
-Very customizable level
-Night light for the kids
The BAD:
-Need demineralization tablets or white dust becomes a problem
-Cool mist in winter is brisk
-Nasty green sticker on the front is ugly and takes time to take off
1. The light has a nice glow to it for a good night-light in my daughter's room. It can be turned off though for the master bedroom where we don't want an extra light while we're trying to sleep.
2. It is very quiet. In my bedroom, it is about 2 feet from my head on my bedside table and I really don't notice it. If I concentrate, I can hear the soft sound of the mist coming out as well as the slightest gurgle now and then (about as loud as gently tapping a key on a computer keyboard 2-3 times).
3. Cleaning has not been an issue. It even came with a demineralizing tab to put in the tank to keep the water from causing a chalky build-up. Water does sit in the base when the tank has emptied, so I try to wipe out the excess every week or so.
4. Though the tank doesn't fit perfectly in the bathroom sink to fill it, it is doable. All of the other ones I've had needed to be filled either in the tub or the kitchen sink.
5. The tank runs all night and into the day at half setting (perfect for a standard bedroom). The box says 8 hours per tank which is probably what it runs when at a higher setting.
6. This was one of the top-rated humidifiers on Consumer Reports. That should tell you something!
I've only been using the first for a month and the second for half that, but I am thrilled. I have a good feeling these will make it completely through the winter and be ready for next year! Highly, highly, highly recommended!

With winter upon us, my wife and I initially bought a standard humidifier that boils the water into a warm vapor. It worked well at getting the air "moist" and raising the temperature of the room a bit but having to refill AND clean the thing on almost a daily basis was way too annoying. It also made a small, but decent amount of noise when the water was bubbling. In the end, the tank got a small crack which threw off the pressure, so it leaked everywhere.Fast forward to our new Sharper Image humidifier. I bought this at Bed, Bath and Beyond in October for use after sinus surgery. Initially, is was silent, but after about 12 nights of use, started making a whirring fan noise which is disturbing when you are trying to sleep. Turned it on one night and the noise was so loud (like an electric lawn mower sound), I returned it to the store and they gave me another one. Last night, I turned the new one on and it was silent for about 1 hour, then the new one started making the whirring noise. This is not acceptable so I will give The Sharper Image one more chance as I really do like the mist it throws off. I am returning the 2nd one this weekend and will get a 3rd. Hope this one works as stated in the advertising. My daughter has the same model and has had no problems with it for the 4 or so months she's had it.Honest reviews on The Sharper Image EV-HD10 Cool Mist Ultrasonic 1-Gallon Humidifier
Humidifiers seems to only last one season in my house but are almost a requirement for my family's allergies. We've had Honeywells, Holmes and Crane models. They have all been insanely hard to clean, noisy and/or difficult to fill. I couldn't be happier with the Sharper Image model!1. We like this humidifier but are discouraged at the price of the cartridges, which must be replaced every 30-40 fillings. $20 a cartridge is expensive. They keep the machines from building up minerals on the inside.Thursday, November 20, 2014

I know that ultrasonic humidifiers leave white dust. However, this filter is supposed to eliminate that problem. I've tried these types of filters in other ultrasonic humidifiers (Crane for example) and they work. But this one, does nothing. What a shame. We love the humidifier, but wish the filter actually worked. It's a lot of work to clean up the dust all the time. Especially on drapes, curtains, etc.
In fact, if you have lime-softened water don't even buy an ultrasonic humidifier. I wish I'd known that as it put lime dust over the entire room and ruined an expensive CD player (lime dust got on the lens and can't be cleaned off).
Lime softening is done by your city, not by your water softener. Check wikipedia for "lime softening".
I have found that the "Water Filling" machine at my local wal mart uses reverse osmosis which works great in the humidifier as it does not produce any white dust, and the price per gallon is extremely reasonable.

I may be wrong, but I expected that this filter would retain the minerals from the water so they did not get into the air during the humidifier process and are seen as a white powder on furniture, floors etc. Unfortunately this filter only slightly limited the amount of powder which escaped into the air, not prevent it. The name itself suggests that the minerals are removed during the process. I was very disappointed and would like to know where I can get a filter that really works. This is better than nothing, but still not good enough to do the job.Best Deals for pureguardian FLTDC Humidifier Decalcification Filter for H1500

I own a pureguardian™Ultraonic Humidifier H4500. I was using tap water and noticed an accumulation of white dust on many plastic surfaces around the house including the dvds inside the player. I switched to distilled water and the problem went away. I ordered this decalcification filter in hopes that I would save money from buying distilled water. I installed the filter as resumed the use of tap water and the white dust problem came back just as before. I've been using the Honeywell Cool Mist for several weeks. It works great. Hums along on high about like a bathroom fan. I really like the convenience of using tap water, and not having to disassemble it when I fill it. It's easy to overlook regularly cleaning it, but beware, the filter gets very grungy after a month's use. You risk cultivating your own bacterial soup and blowing it out in your room if you fail to keep it clean. The anti-bacterial inserts might help, I didn't get one. Buy a bunch of filters so you can change them at least monthly.
I can tell the difference as to whether I use it or not. Definitely, it does add water to the air. It puts about 2 quarts of water into the air overnight, and then you can refill it and run it during the day if you want. Without it, I tend to get a dry throat and wake myself coughing. Maybe other brands do better. This one was adequate for what I needed.
PROS
Easy Refill
Quiet
Prevents chapped lips and hands
Reliable (simple design/few moving parts)
Evaporation (impossible to over-saturate)

CONS
Constant Wick Replacement (every 2 months/$13 a pop)
Weekly cleaning/maintenance
Not 100% silent (you'll want an ultrasonic humidifier)
Shoe smell if not maintained

I live in a small one bedroom apartment. During the winter months I run this humidifier 100% of the time, on the low (quiet) fan speed setting. I do this as preventative maintenance for chapped lips and hands. I've measured changes of between 10 and 20% in humidity using a digital hygrometer. This humidifier requires regular wick replacement at $13 a pop, as well as weekly cleaning to prevent it from smelling like a shoe. After 5 months of use, and maintenance, I am still satisfied with my purchase. Chapped lips and hands are a thing of the past!PROS

We love the fact that you can just pour water into the top---no screw top lids that are difficult to handle. It is easy to clean and filters are easy to replace. The motor makes a very nice even sound---not too loud. We just ordered the allergy filters and will see if that helps some with our allergies. Another plus for this model is the fact that we have never had a problem with water leakage---the bottom section is solid--no seams to leak. Also, the knob is on the top and easy to see for easy on/off use. Overall the best feature is the ease of adding water! I would definitely buy another of this brand and style.Saturday, August 2, 2014

I purchased this yesterday while I was trying to shop with watering eyes and a stuffy nose. I placed it on a shelf by my bed last night and finally had something that would help me breathe in the extra dry inside air. The light mist is cool and adds just enough moisture to keep nasal passages and eyes moisturized. It is very easy to set up and move. A 16 oz. bottle of regular drinking water acts as the reservoir and lasts more than 8 hours, depending on how high the mister is set.
OK, enough about my wasted money (about $25 because I had a coupon).
It makes a huge mess. Even my 11 year old remarked about the mess. We put it on a large dinner plate which was loaded with water by the time it was done. More than one night we did this with the same results.
Adjustable? No, it is high output no matter where you put the knob.
My only consolation was that the blue light and the high moisture output made it look like a rocket on the launch pad in Florida about to take off. Not much consolation for the lost $25.
I rely heavily on the reviews here on Amazon. I hope you can make a better decision than I did.

I only had this product for about two months, and maybe used it a total of 5 nights. And yet, it started to grow mold and rust. I was very disappointed because I could totally tell the difference when I did turn it on -my sinuses were cleared! And yet, the mold and rust concern me. Make sure to keep maintenance of this item CONSTANTLY.Best Deals for Bell+Howell 8662 Sonic Breathe Ultrasonic Personal Humidifier

I called home to have my daughter read me the reviews when I saw this in the store as we had so many sick at home we needed another vaporizer/humidifier. I am not too difficult to please generally. But this is a joke. Did they pay the other reviewers?OK, enough about my wasted money (about $25 because I had a coupon).

Cheap Holmes HWM6000-UM Small Room Warm Mist Humidifier
I would have rated this a 5 star if the cleaning was easier, but I do not know if such a humidifier exists.
We have hard water and the build up of scale was becoming a problem, even with daily cleaning (yes, you should clean this unit daily). I came up with a solution to reduce and almost eliminate the scale I add a teaspoon of baking soda to the tank when I refill it. The scale is drastically reduced and the unit runs at a whisper quiet. I originally ran the unit without the baking soda and there was some noise, mainly gurgling, that was too loud for me since I am a light sleeper.
There is a black covered heating element that requires cleaning to remove scale. This can be very difficult to remove. I solved this as part of the weekly maintenance when you use vinegar to clean the base. The part with the heating element rests on the base. By adding enough vinegar to fill the well where the heating element engages with the base, and allowing it to soak for 10 or 15 minutes, the scale is easily removed.
I like the warm mist because it helps warm up the room.
Overall, I believe this unit is a great value.

I bought one for the office and liked it so much I bought another one for home. I like the warm mist, it heats the water and kills the germs before sending out mist. You have to be so careful with cool mist humidifiers especially ones with a filter, because if you get sick the germs lodge in the filter and just multiply and you wind up re-circulating germs through the mist. I've read about the gurgling noise and yes baking soda does get rid of it I'm a light sleeper and I have mine right next to my bed. It keeps the sinus moist which prevents sinus infections. The vinegar is great for cleaning the unit as well. And I love the fact that I don't have to deal with filters. I HATE filters. This is like plug and go! I've had mine over 2 years and it's still going strong. Hope they never discontinue it.Best Deals for Holmes HWM6000-UM Small Room Warm Mist Humidifier
It produces upto 2.5 gallons per day, but the tank is only 1 gallon so you have to refill it a lot to get this. The instructions say DO NOT use detergents on any part but then it says to put the bottom section in the dishwasher. It takes a lot of time and effort to clean the scaling off, partly because you have to wait 15 minutes after turning it off since the heating element remains hot for a long time and could send out random steam to burn you as you pick it up. In terms of cost vs time it's probably a better deal for many people to just buy new wicks for an evaporating humidifier. But the worst thing is a metal plate on the bottom maybe 1/3" from the ground that's there to prevent the plastic from melting under the heating element. That's pretty close to the floor to have a metal plate that's nearly boiling hot and is probably the real reason why the manual says to keep it off rugs or finished floors. It also had a pretty bad plastic outgas smell; maybe this will go away in time though. All considered I don't really even feel safe leaving this on when I'm not in the room (although there's probably no rational reason behind it).Honest reviews on Holmes HWM6000-UM Small Room Warm Mist Humidifier
great value for the money. no filter was the reason for the purchase and thank goodness. can be hard to clean, but i haven't tried the baking soda yet. can be heavy when full of water, and the tank is so big that i have to use the bathtub to fill it because it doesn't fit under my sink. it is very quiet and would recommend it to anyone.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Holmes HWM6000-UM Small Room Warm Mist Humidifier
We bought this humidifier last year and my son used it in his smaller room and it worked very well. The gurgling sound was no louder than a tranquility fountain. It only lasted about 10 minutes and then it was silent throughout the night. The water tank was just right, one fill is all it took. (Any larger capacity tank would cause it be too heavy to carry. I can't imagine that.) We tried it in our master bedroom and since it is large we would rather have two of these humidifiers than to try another brand. We save a lot of money since we don't need to buy filters. We have had no issues with cleaning.Friday, April 18, 2014
Discount BestAir D88 Duracraft / Honeywell Replacement Wick Filter
I bought my Honeywell humidifier a few years ago, and though it works great, all the local stores (Walmart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) have stopped carrying the replacement filter. Such a pain! Thank goodness it was available here and at a cheaper price.

I bought the filter to use in a Honeywell humidifier. It has an aluminum outside core which helps it stand up in the humidifier. It performs as well as could be expected.Best Deals for BestAir D88 Duracraft / Honeywell Replacement Wick Filter

Bought the smaller bluair for our new grandaughters room in Denver slight difference in the perception of the cleanliness of the air in the room, but the most noticeable difference was the lack of ANY dust accumulation on any of the surfaces in the room for months at a time.
We live in the forest at 9000 feet elevation in the Rockies, so there is not much pollution here but my better half despises dusting the house, so I bought the big unit to see if it would help with dusting at home. Now I will be purchasing two more units for the other two floors of our house.
Noisy on high speeds, but we run ours 24/7 on low speed and it does the job.
We also painted the kitchen and closets and stuck it in there over night to clear out the smells. You absolutely couldn't smell a thing the next day!

This was a really expensive purchase for us, but we felt we really needed it. We just moved and found out that the previous owners had multiple pets. We didn't notice how bad it was till after we moved in and I suffered several asthma attacks in our bedroom. We found pet hair, dander and urine in the carpets and had to rip out some of them. I put this purifier in our bedroom and it seems to be helping quite a bit.We also painted the kitchen and closets and stuck it in there over night to clear out the smells. I did a bit of research, and went with this product. I could not be happier. I bought this out of desperation for a pet I love, recently diagnosed with Asthma. It was severe with 2-3 attacks a day. With the pet being only 8 years old, putting him to sleep was not an option as between attacks he was quite happy and functional. It was just that the vet stated any given attack could be fatal. After running this product for a week on the lowest setting, which is silent, he went down to 2 attacks a week. After two weeks 0 to 1 a week. This is not a coincidence, this is what has happened and I will never regret buying this product. It works, is attractive, easy to change filters when the time comes, covers a large area and does what it claims.Honest reviews on Blueair 603 HepaSilent Air-Purification System
Bought this for my hubby who really doesn't like the noise of air cleaners. However, he now has COPD, and he's now willing to have an air cleaner in the living room. As everyone says, on the first 2 speeds you can barely hear it. We actually use it on the 3rd speed. You can hear it, but it's still a very mild hummm and doesn't interfere with the TV. It's helped my hubby's cough a lot. I have other air cleaners, and this one is definitely remarkably quiet in comparison. I bought the open box one and got a heck of a deal.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Blueair 603 HepaSilent Air-Purification System
I am highly allergic to animal dander and I have two dogs so I bought this air purifier and I leave it running 24/7. Its incredibly quiet and does an awesome job cleaning the air. I was so happy with it, that I bought a second one.Friday, November 15, 2013
Reviews of Skuttle 45-SH1 Replacement Valve and Float Assembly
The replacement parts provided in this kit are so much better (with more and brass less plastic) than the original installation! The old valve had plastic body, became deformed, and started leaking. This one is all metal and works great!Replacing the old one was easy and just took a few minutes.
