I had been pricing and comparing the substantial number of humidifiers on the market and I am glad I settled on the Air-O-Swiss. Despite its higher price, I am quite satisfied with its functions, control, design and specifically, its quiet operation. I was looking to pay between $70-150 for a quiet, low-maintenance model to add humidity to my [very dry] 10x12' bedroom. I purchased it at a local store for the same price as listed on Amazon; I am glad I was able to see [and hear] this model in operation.

There is NO sound, even at the highest setting. I'm a light sleeper and cannot fathom a bedroom appliance that even approaches a dull hum.

The visible mist generated by this model is pleasant for me and my pets.

I have been refilling each morning, as I have had the device on a high setting and running nonstop.The compartment becomes about half-empty after a full day at this setting. Refilling is a snap.

The ability to have cool and warm settings is a big plus, since the jury is still out regarding the negatives and rewards of either mode.

The system has been running clean and I am certain this will continue to be the case with a modicum of effort. The cost of the filter and the silver stick is not intimidating and the recommended three-week maintenance check is reasonable.

The design is quite fetching. Minimalist and fetching.

I have it sitting on the floor and there is no dampness on the carpet as mentioned by owners of other brands. This tells me that this model is doing a good job of propelling the mist into the air.

My roommate recently paid $29 for a smaller Holmes humidifier. The Holmes is downright deafening and I am sure she would have paid the difference for an Air-O-Swiss. Silent operation is really important.

The only possible shortcoming is the hygrometer. It is not entirely intuitive: the machine is to shut off after the desired humidity percentage is met, yet I have yet to see the model shut itself off. Turning it off manually is not a big deal.

I took a big step purchasing an air purifier, but this purchase has made a significant difference in my bedtime and bedroom comfort. I've had some winter nights with seriously labored [allergy, smoke and pet-related] breathing but I find this device has given me a little peace of mind and tangible change.

With not having much experience with buying humidifiers, I purchased this one based on some online research and with the help of user reviews. I was very worried about the noise factor that comes with having a cool mist humidifier but this one passes with flying colors. I'm a very light sleeper and require almost total silence in order to fall asleep. I can't even tell that this machine is in the same room! I love the fact that it can be switched from cool to warm mist at the press of a button and that I can control the amount of mist and how fast or slow it comes out. The only downfall that I've experienced is how difficult it is to keep clean. The still water that sits in the unit's base will have a black build up. This same build up is located at the base of the blue, water-holding section, as well as the tube and attachment the mist comes out of. The machine comes with a small brush, which does not do the job. By running pressurized water over the build up and using a long tubular bristle brush I can get the unit semi-clean. If any one has a better method, please let me know.

This product has a fatal flaw it has a mechanical hygrostat to control humidity. It's basically a spring loaded device. It doesn't work reliably. You set the humidity level one day, but as the spring adjusts to its own tension, its humidity control stops being accurate.

I had to return my unit 3 times. Each time they replaced the return with a brand new unit. But each one eventually manifested the same problem. *It is a design defect.* Fortunately, the device has a three-year warranty. If you are the type of person who demands that their purchased products work as expected, you will need this warranty. I had to return my unit at the end of every season.

Unfortunately, the company threatened to stop honoring the warranty because I had returned the unit so many times. Rather than send me a unit which would work reliably, they took the tact of blaming me for returning the defective units. They never claimed that the units that I returned were working at spec.

You may not notice the problem if you have the unit in a large room, but in my case it was used in a small, approx 8' x 12' room with a closed door. At the lowest humidity level setting, the room would eventually get very humid, the level couldn't get dialed down, and I had little control over the level of humidity. Because the unit doesn't have a digital readout of the humidity level, most people wouldn't notice this. But I checked the level against a stand-alone humidistat.

If the hygrostat worked, I'd give the unit 4 stars it's otherwise a fine device. I'd echo the sentiment about the tank. I think someone in Marketing told the engineers to design the tank with a visually appealing rounded top. But it's a pain to refill. You have to always hold onto it while filling it. It will not stand up on it's own. It is cumbersome to refill and will fall over if you let go of it. It's always a two-handed operation to fill.

My advice would be to try one of their units with a digital humidity level readout. I haven't tried them myself, but I'm guessing that the hygrostat on those models will be more accurate and thus, useful.

I am very happy with this purchase. I can't imagine another unit outperforming this one.

Pros:

1)High design; the prettiest, sleekest humidifier you'll find. Everyone who sees it compliments me on it and it's become a very popular acquisition.

2)High output: produces a thick, steady stream of humidity. When on highest setting, outpaces volume of other cheaper units.

3)Great customer service: I had a hairline fracture in the water tank and the Air-O-Swiss folks replaced it within days; it was very fast service and completely hassle free.

Cons:

1)After 2 weeks, I discovered a fracture in the water tank causing water to leak out onto the table.

2)No hygrometer/hygrostat display so there's no way to know for sure what degree of dryness you need to compensate for.

3)Water tank is a little on the small side and needs to be refilled often Very often if highest volume setting is used.

This humidifier is fantastic but I cannot get rid of the white dust. Despite the fact I'm replacing the desmineralization cartridge regularly, this humidifier is producing a lot of white dust.

The Good: The product performs as mentioned in other reviews. It is effective. I plugged it in last night and dropped the output hose into a bucket to measure the collection out of curiosity. By morning, the unit had collected nearly a gallon of water. That is the good part. The bad side is that this thing is NOISY. I read reviews on-line that said the unit is quite. I even read one that said it was as quite as an "average" fan. Lemme tell you, if your fans are that loud, it is time to change them out. This thing sounds like on older style window unit AC...seriously every bit as loud. Other reviews stated that when the pump kicked on the unit was unbearably noisy. I hate to inform anyone who doesn't know this. When you run a sump pump without any water in it to pump...it is going to be noisy. However, if you allow some water to get into the unit and allow it to work as it is supposed to, the pump is not even noticeable compared to the 747 like noise made by the fan unit. So, basically, the unit works well. Just don't plan on having any quite conversations in the same room as the dehumidifier.

Royal Sovereign bdh-550 worked great for a few months. It no longer dehumidifies and is now just an expensive fan. Repair costs are too high to merit not just buying another dehumidifier (of another brand). Think twice before purchase.

Don't quite know how long we've had it, lost the invoice, but know it's past the warranty. The pump seems to have stopped working. Great difficulty getting customer service. Several requests from both the web page, and phone messages led to no response over several months. Finally my wife impersonated a retailer to get someone on the phone. Was told it was probably the pump, but since we did not have the receipt, warranty service could not be provided. We called the suggested local repair shop, only to learn that they were suspending warranty service because Royal Sovereign had not reimbursed them for a long time. Also learned that the expense of fixing and replacing the pump would nearly meet the cost of replacing the unit. He also said that the pumps failing was not so unusual. So what we have here is faulty design, and a troubled company. Buy at your own risk.

I've been looking to get a dehumidifier for a while and finally settled on this dehumidifier. I really like the bucketless feature because I never empty buckets of water now. Nice for my back. Also the design is nice and compact so it won't take up a lot of space.

I haven't had any trouble with the pump or anything like that. I always double check that the hose doesn't have anything blocking it because it will stop the dehumidifier. I would recommend calling their customer service if anyone has a problem. I called them because I thought something was wrong with the pump/hose and they just walked me through any possible reasons it wouldn't work. They were really nice and on top of everything.

It worked well for 13 months, then the pump died. The warrenty was for 12 months.

We had this included in our registry, and it turned out to be the item we used most frequently. Wherever our son was, this sleeper was there. Living room, bedroom, family room, kitchen, etc.. (Just make sure you don't put it up too high) It allowed us to keep our son next to us all times, even in our bed. Similar to the earlier review (I am surprised there has been only 1 so far) we also put this between my and my wife, and was able to sleep (without being able to turn, sleep like a mummy) in our Queen bed. If you are slim or if you are lucky to have a king bed, this will be perfect during first 3 months. We ended up moving this sleeper into his own crib which was next to us in the bedroom, but we did not have worry about him turning over or moving stuff over his head. We could also easily wrap him with sheets by tucking the sheets under the mattress. I had no problems washing the mattress, following the instructions it did not look that worn, and I would assume that it was the spin cycle or the dryer that made it look worn. In any case, we always had additional covers on the small padding/mattress this came with.

PS: I used the mobile/heartbeat sound machine even after we moved onto full size crib. It is just amazing, it helped block out the other noises and allowed our son to keep sleeping through TV/RADIO/Music or doorbells or cellphones. :)

It folds and it is extremely easy to carry. It locks into place so well that it is impossible to come lose or fold on its own.

I received this co-sleeper as a baby gift. I wasn't sure if I would use it because we actually had two basinettes plus a crib. We probably ended up using this product more than we did anything else we received as a gift. It's really portable so we could take it into any room in our apartment with us. We had a queen size bed and this fit in between us (albeit a little tight). Our daughter tolerated being in it very well. She really liked the heartbeat sound the monitor made.

The only complaint I really have is that the mattress doesn't have a removable, water-proof covering on it. If our daughter spit up on it, we had to wash the entire mattress and after a few washes, it started to look worn. We ended up wrapping a really lightweight blanket around the mattress to help with this and it worked out.

If you live in a smaller place, this co-sleeper is really ideal. It doesn't take up much room and is ultra portable.

We second all the positive reviews. We bought this in desperation when our baby would not sleep in her crib. We were too scared to co-sleep without some sort of protection. Then we found out that it fit perfectly on our bathroom vanity and soon it also became her changing table. We use a thick towel to cover the pad for changes. We love that while changing her we can turn around to put the diapers in the pail or pick up something without worry. We use a sticky shelf liner underneath to prevent slippage. That thing will not budge. Our baby loves laying in there looking at herself in our vanity mirror.

In the morning when I go to work, I put the co-sleeper in our bed and she sleeps next to my husband until they have to get up. She doesn't roll over yet, so it remains to be seen how long we will use it, but as of 3 months it has been our best investment.

Look around though, I have seen it priced between $59 and even as low as $39 on sale.

We've been using this co-sleeper for about 3 months now and it's a wonderful thing. Our bed is too tall for any of the roll-up bedside co-sleepers, so we had to go with an in-bed. I chose this one because of the sturdy metal sides. It'd be pretty difficult to roll over on your baby while in this, and even if you accidently pull the covers up to high in your sleep, the high sides keep a nice air pocket in front of baby's face. I also like that the sides of the sleeper are breathable mesh. It not only helps with air flow, but my baby likes to mush his face against the side of it while sleeping, and he can easily breathe through the wall. The mattress is also a breathable mesh top so if they manage to roll onto their stomachs they could still breathe.

The true life-saver of this purchase has been the clip-on light/noise maker/vibrator. The womb sound is the only thing my baby will fall asleep too, and the light makes it easy to see him if he needs me, but is not so bright as to wake him up. We don't use the vibration on it much, so I can't comment on that, but the clip-on has come with us everywhere; even when we don't take the sleeper.

That said, the sleeper folds up nicely and can fit into a carry-on suitcase (though it will fill most of the suitcase). It sits well on our bed (we have a tempurpedic mattress) and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

That said, it's cheaper at Babies r Us, so check there first.

Purchased "4 pack" for use in a basement safe "room", not a free standing gun vault. The room is concrete bricko walls, part of a basement. Volume is approx 350 cubic feet.

Baseline humidity runs 65% or so with door closed and little or no air circulation. Humidity monitered with Acu Rite Indoor Humidity Monitor.

Started with 2 devices since supposedly ( per eva-dry website) one device "up to 500 cubic feet", but decided since humid basement room, 2 might be better.

Absolutely no decrease in humidity. Tried all four...absolutely no decrease in humidity. Tried recharging all 4 ( in spite of beads all in the blue charged range).

Absolutely no change in humidity. Verified humidity moniter working by moving to a conditioned room, with subsequent drop to normal levels.

Does nothing as far as I can tell. Complete waste of money for me.

I purchased the 4-pack E-500 to be used in my closet which is located inside the Master's bathroom (many new houses have this design now, which makes the closet to be exposed to a large amount of moisture daily). The closet is about 10 feet X 6 feet. I needed to protect my clothings and handbags from moisture.

I placed 2 of them inside. I don't see the color change in the cyrstals until the 3rd week. I can see the cyrstals increase in size and the color has changed to clear/pale pink now. This product seems to be working, and it is clean, convenient! Way better than the ones you buy in which you have to replace the white powders/crystals, and require you to drain out water from time to time. But this product elimates these hassles. I bought 4 so that when those 2 need to be renewed, I always have another set to use. Will recommend this to people I know.

I already had a similar product with Remington's name on it. I believe they were made by these guys. I have a very large Browning gun safe and these big guys work very well but I needed extras to rotate in and out of the safe as they became saturated. Buying four at a time made sense. It's easy to recharge them by simply plugging them in. Be sure and get a power strip to do this as they are too heavy to plug into a wall soccer.

I bought these two days ago. The smaller unit was for my bedroom and the larger one for my daughter's. She is a baby and has started rubbing her nose and eyes and is stuffy. So I bought these units in hopes of cleaning the air. In just two days I have noticed she is breathing easier.

A special note, the larger unit was loud. It had a high pitch kind of rattling sound. My husband pulled the filter out, messed with some wire or other and now it is whisper quiet, like the smaller one.

Good buy overall. A little pricey on Amazon but my daughter is sleeping easier which was the whole point.

I use one of these in a room on the first floor and one in my bedroom. They are pretty quiet but not silent. The higher you set it the louder it is. They really seem to help with dust and such in the air.

I finally purchased a glider to use with the new baby. After going to a couple stores and taking a look at the 200-300 and even 400 dollar ones we decided to go with this basic glider to save money for christmas and other necessities.

So far I have had it assembled 2 weeks and use it many times during the day to nurse and read books. The bottom cushion is a bit hard but honestly this glider is well worth the money if you are on a budget don't feel bad about getting this one over the more expensive ones. It is pretty and does the job just fine.

When it arrived there was a huge rip in the box and the outer corner of the glider was exposed. Thankfully it was packed with foam around the corners and did not sustain any damage.

Assembly was quite easy and the glider bottom comes assembled, the ottoman is completely assembled. So it was 8 screws I believe, to assemble this and my DH had it done in about 20 minutes.

It has a nice warm finish and should match well with other cherry furniture. The cushions are a sandy beige color and are attractive.

I'd recommend this as a nice glider for someone looking to save $$.

Update March 12, 2009 Still satisfied with the purchase, has maintained its quality and gets a lot of use.

Update May 22, 2010 Now a nursing/reading chair. Frequently used and in nice shape. Looking into getting a better cushion set.

This is my video review for the Storkcraft Hoop Glider and Ottoman set in cherry finish. It is a comfy glider with a smooth gliding motion. We will be using it a lot when our baby comes along around the end of January!

we have had this glider for 6 months now. for the first four months it was great! glided well and was very comfortable. but then we started to experience the notorious squeak that everyone here is talking about. it is loud and impossible to get rid of for long term. I tried the spray silicone, grease, WD-40, wax, tightening the joints, etc. nothing fixed it. Then the back part started to pop really loud with each rock back and forth. I felt that maybe part of the issue is I am a big man, 240 lbs. so I stopped sitting in it and only had my wife sit in it (120 lbs).

I called Stork and they informed me that the limited warranty will only cover a maximum of 50% of the parts of the chair so I had to choose to either replace the back or replace the rocking base. I chose to fix the rocking base and it took about 5 weeks to arrive (they told me it would take that long so I won't hold it against them even though it was a long time to wait). I got the new base and only had my 120 lbs wife sit in it and it worked like a charm...for one week. then the squeaking came back again. once again I tried all the lubes you can imagine to stop the squeaking but it only subsided for a few days. I called stock and they told me I had already used the full coverage of my warranty and that was the end of my extended service.

I'm disappointed in this glider and I am in the hunt for a better one to rock our little one to sleep. I recommend that you look somewhere else besides Stork Craft for your glider needs.

This rocker looks so much nicer than it actually is. Very easy to assemble, and the cherry wood is nice. But the cushions are terrible. The seat cushion, after one day, already feels flat. On day two, it's developed a squeak. I am not happy with purchase at all.

I was a little hesitant to get this glider/ottoman because of some of the reviews, but I decided to go for it anyways. I am pleased with my purchase. My husband put it together fairly easily and I've been using it every day for the last 3 weeks as a place to feed and rock my newborn to sleep. The seat cushion, though thin, is comfortable enough and I don't feel the need to supplement the cushioning, however, I can see that I may need to replace or supplement the seat cushioning within 6 months to a year, because the cushion is already starting to lose its shape. One of my main concerns for choosing a glider was I am only 4'11" and I need a glider where I don't feel like I'm a kid sitting in a "grown up's chair". The size of this glider fits me well. My husband is 6' and he uses the glider too and it fits him well also. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star instead of 5 stars is because of the seat cushion.

I bought this humidifier because I discovered in the apartment I recently moved into, the heat makes the air in the apartment very dry. I wake up every cold morning with a dry mouth and my allergies bothering me.

I decided to purchase this for my bedroom just to run at night. My bedroom is probably 20' by 30', not very high ceilings, and even with this humidifier on high all night, I don't notice a difference. Plus, it is very loud on the high setting, almost at loud as an air conditioner. I also have a hard time believing that the tank is really 2 gallons. I haven't measured, but it barely seems 1 gallon in size.

It is advertised that it will last 3 full nights per refill, but that is on the low setting, and only if you sleep 6-7 hours a night. I'm sure it may work for a smaller room, probably a good buy for a kid's room, but not for any rooms that are even medium in size. Overall, go for a bigger and quieter humidifier, even if you have to pay a little extra cash.

Like others said....this is great for a kids room, but we also used it for ours as well.

The low setting really isn't that loud, and the high setting is a great 'white noise' maker for kiddos (or hubbies that are used to the sound of a fan during summer months ;p).

And while this may not be the greatest humidifier ever, it is kind of a 'get what you pay for' scnerio.

Ie for us, at least, it was money well spent.

We have used this humidifier for several years it is great. We have a 12'x12' bedroom so the machine works well on the low setting for the space. The high setting is loud but when it is really cold and the heat kicks on several times through the night the low setting is sufficient to keep dryness and allergy aggrevations at bay.
