Not really a humidifer at all. Yes it's a diffuser but it does not humidify the air, which is it's first claim to fame and the reason I bought it. Water sits in a well with a sponge and a fan blows the water that soaks up into the sponge. Had I known this and that it was shipping directly from China, I would have ordered from another on-line place, where it was much cheaper. Don't buy if you want a humidifer.

I have never written an online review, but I feel so strongly about this awesome bassinet that I just need to share it. My first two babies had slight reflux (most babies do, I think) and slept better on an incline, but always ended up sliding down to the bottom when I put their beds on an incline. So when I was pregnant with my third (and final!) baby, I was so excited to find this bassinet and bought it, even though I already had another one. What a good decision! My daughter slept so well from the very first night home, and I'm positive that the bassinet was a huge reason. In the beginning I didn't need to use the straps because the sling kinda cradles the baby (which also helps with sleeping), and then when she got a little bigger I just swaddled her on the top only so that I could still use the straps on the bottom. When I was done with the bassinet (around 10 weeks), I lent it to a friend, and now we both refer to it as the "magical bassinet", because our babies slept so well in it. It was easy to put together, and I have had no issues with quality. Of course this is not an heirloom quality fancy wooden bassinet, but that's not what your baby needs for a good night's sleep!

Purchased this Bassinet back at the end of January. Little guy came along at the end of February and we have been using it every night since. Its great to have next to the bed and he appears to like it quite well too. The vibrate unit with sound and light is fabulous... until it starts to break. The vibrate on ours has now begun to rattle and scrape when its starting and stopping, not good when trying to keep the sound down as the little guy is going to sleep. Called Kolcraft regarding this as it is still well within the 1 year warranty to get a "We're sorry but that unit has been discontinued and we have no vibrate units to send out". No other options available and they do not want to take this any further than that.

That said, Bassinet is fantastic but the electronics accessory is crap and the companies Customer Service is about the same. I would not recommend Kolcraft and will not be purchasing another item from their company, this includes any mattresses and their "Jeep" brand stroller.

I wish I had read the Consumer Reports review before purchasing this. The incline option is a complete waste since I couldn't swaddle my baby in it. The overall structure feels flimsy. Once you take the incline out the vibration feature can't be used as it makes too rickety of a sound. With the canopy on it just seems like a lack of air flow is available to baby. So Im using it without the incline, without the canopy, all for a whopping $130! Not to mention the baby weight limit is only 15lbs! I just ordered the arms reach co sleeper to replace this total dud.

So i bought this bassinet because of the reviews. when i got it home and put it together and it looked great untill we moved it. the wheel fell off then as time went by the whole feels like its going to fall apart. I will say that the best part about it is that the incline sleeper gives me a little peace of mind. also the basket on the bottom sags so dont put much stuff in the basket.

Although the component is exactly what's needed to repair an outdated, non-functional Aprilaire humidifier, and it fits perfectly into the existing space without needing to be modified in any way, it is ridiculously overpriced. For your money, you get the two-piece, snap-together plastic pump housing, a replacement plastic pump impeller, a plastic spacer, and a thin metal washer. All told, these pieces contain possibly a dollar's worth of materials. Although no instructions are supplied with the parts, they are easy to assemble into the existing humidifier. But, as with all special-purpose replacement mechanical components, you can't grab them at the local hardware store: the supply is low, so the price is high. I would suggest to anyone that needs this part to consider replacing the entire humidifer instead.

I recently purchased two of these on sale at Target. I thought the second one was defective because it made strange noises, but it turned out that the bookcase on which I placed it wasn't stable. Moved to a level surface, it works perfectly.

Today, the other one leaked, but only because I'd splashed water into the housing when I filled it. After draining, cleaning and re-assembly, it also worked perfectly.

The other reviewers seem not to have read the instruction booklet, because this is the easiest humidifier in the world to care for. If you clean the parts in the dishwasher (no detergent, no heat dry), the only other thing you need to do is wipe down the interior of the housing. As to the demineralization cartridges, you need never replace them if you purchase a blank cartridge (available from kaz.com or honeywellcomfort.com) and use only distilled water. (I suppose you could indefinitely use the cartridge that it came with if you're using distilled water.) While the motor is quiet (if installed correctly--which the manual emphasizes more than once), the "waterfall" makes the sort of noise one would expect--not too loud, but ever-present. I find it relaxing, but if absolute quiet is required, then it will be a disappointment.

I plan to buy another of these for my daughter and grandson, because I've never been happier with a humidifier.

I bought 2 of these last year, and this year they wouldn't work. They would hum, but no water would run through. I read a review on another site and gave their suggestion a try. Now, both of my humidifiers are working again! HURRAY! Here's what I did I hope it helps you:

1.Take everything apart inside clean with a mixture of vinegar and dish soap (I used Dawn).

2. Take the little thing apart at the bottom of the tube. It's magnetic, so once you take the white circular disc off, then you can always drop it into a metal bowl if you can't get the next piece out. Clean the metal parts and then scrape all metal parts with a sharp knife.

3. Put everything back together. I also put in a new demineralizaton cartridge.

Hope this works for you! It saved me over $100 since I didn't need to replace either one.

I purchased this humidifier (Honeywell Ultrasonic, Model HUT-200-TGT) from a store (on sale, no returns) based on the box repeatedly claiming "no filters required." I'm here to find the demineralization cartridges (calcium filters) they said isn't required, but MUST be replaced (according to the manual inside the box) after every 20-30 fillings (at a cost of roughly $6 each, or $12-18 per month with two or three fillings per day). Of course, local stores I tried didn't have those filter cartridges. Luckily this website does.

The humidifier is just fine otherwise. Not quite as quiet as the company claims, but we sleep with a small fan running anyway (to mask street noise) and the humidifier is located on the other side of the room. Between those two, we can't even hear it at night.

However, based on what I know now, I wouldn't purchase this humidifier again, nor recommend it to others.

I don't know what happened, Honeywell is normally considered a quality brand, but this thing just stopped misting. I suspect it has something to do with NO AUTO SHUTOFF when the water runs out. What the heck were they thinking? The pump still works, but something is definately broken.

Returning and NOT buying another Honeywell/KAZ to replace it.

The last 5 dehumidifiers I have purchased (3 Kenmore dehumidifiers and 2 Frigidaires) have all failed within 5 years of purchase and 2 of the 4 have failed within a year of purchase. In my experience the reliability of dehumidifiers in general has diminished greatly over the years. So every time I have to purchase another, I do the research all over again and I find myself going in circles. All brands seem to have similar complaints having to do with longevity.

Consequently, I always purchase an extended warranty now. For the $40 or so that they cost, it gives you some peace of mind that at least you will be able to get a replacement if the dehumidifier should break down outside of the manufacturers warranty period.

My first Frigidaire dehumidifier was the FAD704TDP, purchased in April 2011. That lasted just slightly over a year before breaking down. The compressor failed. I was in luck because even though the 1-year warranty had just expired, the compressor was warrantied for 5-years. Whew, dodged a bullet there.

I had read elsewhere that Frigidaire was notoriously difficult to deal with regarding warranty repair/replacement. In my experience, what Frigidaire does instead of sending you a new unit is to "buy back" your old unit. You don't return it to them, they just send you a check. Fortunately Frigidaire "bought" my defective unit back from me and using the proceeds I was able to replace it with the FAD704DUD. Contrary to some peoples hassles with Frigidaire warranty issues, I had no problem whatsoever with my interaction with Frigidaire. The check was sent to me promptly and with no problems.

I did a lot of further research and decided that all manufacturers had their share of disgruntled customers so I decided to give Frigidaire another chance and purchased my second Frigidaire dehumidifier, the FAD704DUD 70 pint dehumidifier to replace the defective. That one was purchased June 2012 and is still working. However, I live in the North East and right now it's the tail end of winter so the dehumidifier, although it is plugged in and turned on, hasn't actually had to operate since the Fall of 2012. I'm assuming it will work just fine come spring and the ensuing damp weather. But given the history I've had with dehumidifiers, they seem to work no longer than 3-5 years before breaking down, I had an opportunity to get this FAD704DWD and did so even though the dehumidifier I bought last year seemingly still works fine.

The outward appearance of this dehumidifier is identical to the FAD704DUD. The only differences between this 2013 model: FAD704DWD and the 2012 model: FAD704DUD are some minor changes in the specifications:

So as you can see, the FAD704DWD uses 20 less Watts of electricity. But as you'll also notice, the Horsepower has been reduced slightly so I'm not sure if the operation of the unit will be quite the same. I do noticed a very minor change in the tone of fan blower. It sounds like it might be running just a touch slower than the last years model. Very minor, but maybe that's all it takes to reduce energy consumption by 20 watts.

When I received the new dehumidifier and removed the tape that secures the collection tank to the unit, I discovered that the float assembly was not attached where it was supposed to be attached and was just flopping around in the bottom of the tank. There was also a broken piece of clear plastic that I still haven't quite figured out where it came from yet. But I plan to take the entire thing apart to find out where it broke off from. I carefully reattached the float assembly and was good to go.,

I like the profile and appearance of this dehumidifier. It's exactly the same dimensions of last years model. It is not very deep nor wide, but it is somewhat tall. It measures roughly 16" wide, 11" deep and 24.5" tall.

The cord length is 6' 6" and there is a cord wrap on the back of the unit. The plug is a 3-prong grounded plug.

The fan is not exceedingly loud but it's not whisper quiet... perfectly tolerable though. If it's in your basement and not in your direct earshot, you probably won't ever hear it operate at all. The fan blows the exhaust out of the top of the unit which I feel it circulates the air better than blowing it out the side which is where some units have the fan output.

The collection container hold 16.3 pints and has a handle to help you carry it over to a sink. However, It just does not have a decent way to tip the bucket easily to pour the water out. I am always sloshing and spilling water all over the place when I try emptying the full bucket. It's awkward. Plus, 16.3 pints may sound like a lot of capacity but it fills rather quickly in my climate so I use the "continuous operation" method. My dehumidifier is located near my sump pump in my basement. I attach a hose to the dehumidifier and route that right into the sump pump. It's a great way to do it because I do not have to be bothered with emptying the dehumidifier and it is able to run continuously.

Overall I'm very pleased with the Frigidaire FAD704DWD 70-pint dehumidifier. I withold 5 stars simply because of the longevity issues I've discussed. Should this prove to be long-lasting, I will update my review and provide an update.

I decided to do a quick initial review of this 70 pint dehumidifier since everyone will be looking at getting one for the summer season soon. I will update durability in future months. I received this May 2013. It came delivered in its original box very quickly (2 days) shipped UPS. It says on the box not to lay on its side. I recommend upon receiving this unit to leave it sit for 24 hours before plugging in when you get it in its final resting spot just in case someone along the way shipped it on it's side to let the compressor oil drain back down. The shipping box seemed sufficient, however It did come with a crack in the plastic back due to an impact. The box appears to be able to flex on the backside enough and there is only foam protection on the ends. Amazon of course took care of me on this. On to the initial review. The design of the cabinet is tasteful and has a few features I liked over my past Fedders unit. Thoughtful features like an integrated handle that hides away at the top when not in use. The unit rolls easily on its caster without tipping. The bucket has a red ball in it to show you water level and a flip down handle to assist in the emptying process. I also liked the way the hose outlet was molded into the cabinet with a screw on plug. Past units I have owned seemed the hose connection was an afterthought. The only feature I thought was oddly placed was the reusable filter which can only be accessed when the bucket is removed. The control panel is nicely layed out and includes power, fan speed, humidity control and a handy timer function in which you can program it to come on in so many hours from now when the energy costs are lower. Very legible 2 digit readout for humidity and can be adjusted in increments of 5% down to 35, or continuous operation. When you are adjusting the levels the readout reflects your setting and when you release the buttons it then reads the room humidity. There is also a filter reset on the top panel. After so many hours of operation it will remind you to clean it.

I set the humidity to 50 and turned the fan on high. The compressor does not start right away and seems to take 5 min to kick in. I played with the high low fan speed. There is a noticeable lower noise between the two, but not enough to make me want to leave it in low. On to the energy use. When the unit is plugged in with nothing running it appears to use about 2 watts of power, but not continuous. I noticed it reads 2 watts intermittently, maybe coming on to check the humidity level. If this is the case, it would only need to do this once every couple of minutes instead of every 20 seconds or so like it does. When the fan is in the low position with the compressor off, it uses 58 watts and when it is in high it uses 66 watts. Not a lot of energy savings, but a bit of payoff (slight) in noise. The air is sucked in the front and ejected out the top vents. When the compressor kicks in the noise does not increase by much at all and can hardly be heard over the fan noise. Initially with the compressor running and the fan on high the wattage consumed was between 630 and 591, fluctuating. As the unit ran for a couple of days this seemed to drop to a steady 578, well below the wattage in the spec, possible the compressor breaking in?. Instead of water dripping continuously out of the hose connector, it seems to be ejected at regular intervals. This interval initially was every 16 seconds. The amount of water ejected was 7.5ml. The water being pulled out was well over the 70 pints a day, somewhere just over 90 pints. This continued for the first couple of days and now seems to be ejecting about 7ml every 35 seconds. I will continue to monitor this as time goes on. It may just be that the humidity was so high it was taking more out than the rated average.

Overall I am satisfied with it so far. I highly recommend using the hose end as you will be dumping that 16.3 pint bucket a few times a day. If you do not have a floor drain, maybe look into a model with a built in pump for a few dollars more to pump it up to a sink. Something notable about the noise. I did find it quieter than my fedders model and since it is in my basement I don't care much. If you are watching TV beside it you may be annoyed. Thanks to John M Yelton, I can now confirm that the fan DOES shut off when the dialed in humidity has been reached. On average it takes about 7 minutes after the compressor shuts off for the fan to go off. This is a bit annoying, but perhaps it will eliminate rust issues I noticed my fedder unit had after a few years as the coils get a chance to air dry after they start to go back to room temp. I did notice though that the unit doesn't stay off for long. Between the 7 min fan cycle it give the sensor a bit of time to activate the compressor so it seems that it just shuts off, then the compressor kicks in again 5 min later to take some more moisture out of the room and it just repeats itself. Mind you, I am drying a 2000 square foot basement and this will probably slow down as it drys out. Keep in mind this is the first few days of operation, and since I am on "time of use" hydro billing, it has been off much of the day since that is the expensive time to operate.

I have an idea for mine to be turned on only when my hydro is at its cheapest (7pm to 7am) For those of us with home automation you could say run this unit 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and all weekend (cheapest energy rate times). This unit could be controlled remotely by utilizing the bucket full contact switch.

UPDATE May 11 -2013. The wattage consumed continues to drop. I monitored it again for an hour and it has dropped below 500 watts, in the 480 range (A far cry from the 745 Watts they rate it for) so this is a pleasant surprise. I will continue to monitor this. It could be the compressor loosening up an not having to work as hard (hopefully) and not something else.

I also noticed the time between moisture ejects has increased from 7.5 ml every 16 seconds to 7.5 ml every 60 or so seconds. A sign my basement is getting drier I suppose.

Going on my 3rd unit in a 10 days! First unit leaked water from the back panel right away. Called Amazon and got another one sent out (UPS call tag sent for defect) Second unit came in 2 days and also leaked from the back panel, but the drain outlet on the back was pushed in and cracked! Called Amazon and they sent out a third unit (UPS call tag sent again). All was well and working for 2 days, AND again leaking from the BACK! Many state this is a wonderful product and I have had earlier models, with no problem. There must have been a bad run at one time and something is not right inside with the run-off. There may be insulation missing on the piping or just not properly applied. Will call a service center and find out if there is a known issue with these units. If not, I will call Amazon for perhaps the FAD704 DUD (earlier model) It's not Amazons fault and they have been great in handling this situation (shipping and returns) Will advise.

I bought this product based on the brand name, local store endorsement and amazon reviews. It worked great until about 10 days after the 1 year warranty expired. Then I started to notice water on the floor, despite my regular emptying of bucket and the fact that the bucket was not overflowing. I checked the bucket for leaks. There were none. The area underneath the bucket on one side only was consistently wet. It appears that the unit itself is leaking and allowing water to bypass the bucket opening and run down the bucket housing. I contacted the company 18 days after the one year date of purchase. I was not able to speak to a human being (that was not an option) but did get an email telling me that unfortunately, the 2-5 year warranty does not cover my problem. I paid about $250 for the unit and expected it to last longer than one year. I will not buy a Frigidaire or Electrolux product again. Too bad for them since I am getting ready to remodel my kitchen and purchase major appliances.

It really sucks the moisture out of the air in my entire basement and since I ran a hose to the utility drain it runs continiously and keeps the humidity at the 40 percent setting (you can set it for whatever percent you want to maintain) pretty darn accurately. It's much quieter than other units I have had and I've been wanting another one for upstairs and lo! Vine offered me one to review. The exact same model I now have. I can vouch for it's functioning as described and 70 pints is 8.75 gallons of water if you don't have the facilities for running the drain hose...so unless you're in Florida...you won't be running to empty it every few hours. The basement in my house has always had a moisture problem and this is the only unit I've found that you can run constantly that does the job and is quiet enough it won't interfere with your other activities. As one reviewer noted however you wouldn't want it in the room with you watching Television...fortunately there is a door on the entertainment room that can be closed while we watch movies.

Was trying to decide between the 500 and 600 models. They are basically the same, besides how much humidity they can add to the air. My home is about 3300 sq feet, and the 500 is rated for 3000 sq. feet. Another review stated the manufacture said that with a tight home you can bump up the rating by about 30%. Went with the 500 and I have no regrets. Install wasn't hard and wasn't easy either. I did use the hot water supply to the unit because I wanted to reach the max ratings. Also hooked it up so the blower could be activated by the humidistat. At first I was confused by the "improved" wiring diagram. I thought that you wouldn't be able to start the blower from the Thermostat. I was wrong because the thermostat just makes the call through the humidistat. Overall I am very satisfied with the product.

Pros:

Notice a huge difference in the comfort of my home in less than 24 hours.

No Bloody nose in the morning.

Was able to turn the Thermostat down about 2 degrees, because the wife said it felt warm. ;)

Cons:

I'm a very skilled workman and the install took longer than expected. Look at spending about 6 hours installing this product.

The transformer that was shipped with the product was DOA. No 24VAC out. Luckily I had a spare sitting around.

Pulled this off a review from the 600 model. Revised/Added a couple of items. It works for the 500 model as well.:

I had an older Aprilaire humidifier at my old house, and loved it, so I purchased this for my new house. It works well, and I like the automatic control feature for the rh. The installation took me a while, but it wasn't too difficult.

The reason for only 3 stars: About 2 days after I installed it, the controller(Model 60) quit working. I do not work for a heating/cooling company, and the warranty expresses that it will be void if the unit isn't installed by a qualified tech. So, I took a look at the controller. -Found Vcc was only ~.2V. Rectifier and 24VDC okay. Found that D1(I believe 5.6V zener diode) had broken down. Even with a loupe, I had a hard time reading the number on the side of the diode, but by doing the math and figuring that Vcc would be typically 5v, I purchased a 5.6V zener NTE replacement diode(5.6v because the voltage will be dropped ~.6V from B-E of transistor in the regulation circuit). I replaced the zener diode, and the unit seems to be working fine now. Also, this was a surface mount diode that I replaced with an axial lead diode just have to solder carefully.

Hope this information can help someone else. The part only cost me ~$0.60, which beats paying ~$80 for a new controller.

Solid product. Note that there's a bit of work to installing this yourself, but a reasonable handyman DIY type should be able to handle it. I live in Minneapolis and even in Oct, the air starts to get pretty dry, after less than a day I could notice a significant difference.

I was questioning my decision to purchase a bypass wholehouse humidifier with an automatic control. An HVAC guy gave me great advice. The automatic control should only be used in areas of the country that have high humidity. Here in Utah the manual control would work just fine. Nowhere on YouTube or other literature did I hear such advise. The HVAC fellow saved me $50. Also, even with a bypass wholehouse humidifier I will see the humidity level to get around 35%. If I wanted a higher level of humidity then a steam wholehouse humidifer is the only option. The cost of a steam version is just too costly. The HVAC fellow said most people in Utah will be happy with the 35% level. Finally, the HVAC fellow said Trane humidifiers are really Aprilaire products.

I just installed it today and so far I can feel the humidity levels rise already.

One trick I can suggest is use a 10 wire line. You can use this to hook everything to the unit (including the thermometer). This will save you time from running a second or third line.

I used the extra wires in the line that runs to the A/C unit outside and hooked up the thermometer that way. This saved me from drilling holes and running extra line outside. I just used the screw that holds the A/C casing to hold the thermometer as well.

Overall, this is not a hard product to install but you do need to understand wiring (low voltage) and how to cut ducting.

I bought this to act as a humidifier when my woodstove is being used. It was thoroughly rinsed and filled with extremely filtered water from a Kinetico filter system, so I know the water is clean and clear of chlorine and deposits. Yet this kettle emitted heavy white deposits that got all over the woodstove and its trim, and the outside of the pot. The inside of the pot had "blooms" of white crusty deposits, many as large as 3/16" in diameter. The only way to clean them out is with a wire brush. It seems I paid almost $80.00 for a kettle I will never use again out of fear it may very well do more harm than good.

This was the only Made in the USA kettle I could find, and I loved the quirky half-kettle look. It reminded me of Willy Wonka's office in the Gene Wilder version! The construction is sturdy, it holds lots of water, and this is a kettle that will last long enough to pass down to grandchildren. I recommend it to everyone who prefers quality and craftsmanship.
