I bought a Eureka capture vac. It works fine. The HEPA filters are $20 each with tax at the big-box stores, and I go through 4 of them a year, or more.

These Honeywell replacements are every bit as good as the factory modules. Buy them on the Amazon.com 4-for-the-price-of-3 special -that gets free shipping too!and you've got a year's worth of filters for less than the price of two at the big-box stores.

What's not to like? They fit and function 100% like the originals. They cost half as much and come delivered to my door with a few mouse clicks.

i never changed the filter and my eureake pet vacume smeels like old towels everytime i have it on. now that i changed it to this filter, it doesn't release that smell and so my house smells and feels cleaner.

If you want to save some money simply take out the filters and soak them in white vinegar and some hot water for about 15 minutes (or longer if very dirty). You will hear some fizzing from the chemical reaction (like if you put vinegar and baking soda together). Then...presto! It was clean like new!

You don't need it. I bought a Sunbeam SCM2401 table top humidifier at a local store. It worked fine for 3 days, then the little filter meter became pinned at the "Change" side, showing that the filter wick was dirty, and the humidity in my room was only 20%. Sure enough, the wick was totally dry, and there was a line of rust at the water line. So I washed the wick under running water, and scrubbed it with a brush. That restored it for only a few hours. OK, so I'll just buy a replacement wick. What?!! $6 and up? For a piece of cotton? The whole humidifier only cost $18! I lived in my dry apartment for several days, and then had an idea: Paper towels are very absorbent. What if I took 2 squares of paper towel and folded them around the old wick, like a U-shaped sandwich, so that the paper towel dipped under the water level and up the sides? This worked, and has kept working for 4 days now. The paper towel AND the wick now stay completely soaked, the little meter is happily in the "Good" zone, and my room humidity is a comfortable 38% (it's winter, and the humidifier is on MAX). When the paper towel gets rusty, I can just replace it for a few cents. Cheap, convenient, and "green"!

I wish I would have seen the last guys review--I'll post some pictures of what you will actually be getting! The refund was a huge hassle and they at first offered me $10 to keep the product and then they required me to send in pictures because they didn't believe me....and not to mention everyone I spoke to had a thick mid-eastern accent so that always makes communication a little difficult!

It is not the same amount in quarts and also listed not for human consumption--it does look the like the main picture shown--but it is NOT a tea kettle--you shouldn't drink out of it--it is only for humidifying the room.

I have been using the cigar oasis for about 1 year now. It has made my cigar maintenace a simple pleasure. The oasis has kept my humidor at 70% humidity for the entire year. I have replaced the water container 3 times so I am getting about 4 months for each refill. That means including the water my total cost of maintenece has been less than $45 annually. Keep in mind that I have 1 oasis humidifying a 300 cigar humidor that is opened at least once a day. The only issue I have had is that the metal contact ends in the oasis that the power cord plugs into are very delicate. One was damaged when I moved the oasis. Luckily there are two contacts and it still functions perfectly.

Right after the warranty expired it started acting erratically. Contacted manufacturer, they advised putting it in a Tupperware container for 2 3 minutes. Next disconnect and reconnect. None of these worked, they said if I could find it cheaper on EBay, go for it. I had the option of returning the unit and for $34.00 they would refurbish and return. Cannot recommend this product with confidence.

I bought this to replace the cheap little humidifier that came with my humidor. The item was fairly easy to figure out even without the instructions and the cable is flat so it made it easy to put in the humidor with the lid closed.

the only issue I had is the unit is to big to stand up in the box I have, but one of the nice things about this unit is it woks when placed on its side too.

Had trouble keeping humidity level accurate with cheap sponge type humidifiers that came with my humidor. Got the Oasis XL.

It maintains rather well. I made the mistake of putting it in a large box of cigars that were too dried out (my humidor may have been dried out as well). Ruined a bunch, outer wrappers were cracking. My mistake for not easing it in.

For those concerned with it not being accurate over time, that is to be expected. I work in building controls and automation. High end humidity sensors that I install need to be calibrated on a bi-yearly or yearly basis at worse. Even then, we are looking to be +/2-5% RH. I also replace sensors every 5 years on average.

Don't expect this to be super accurate for years, and in a few years I will probably replace it anyway.

But I do like it, and would reccomend it for larger humidors (100-200 cigars).

I bought this warm mist humidifier after owning a vaporizer and a cool mist humidifier. The vaporizer was fine except that it was too hot and burned my son's arm, so i needed something else. The cool mist humidifier (different company) broke very fast besides for the expense of changing filters.

This humidifier is great.

1) The warmth is very soothing but not too hot-it won't burn you if you put your hand over the mist.

2) It never leaks onto the floor or gets the surrounding furniture wet (the other one did all the time).

3) It is whisper quiet. You can hardly hear the very soft humming sound even when right near it even on high.

4) It gives out a nice amount of humidity even on the low setting.

5) It is very simple to clean.

6) It is very light and easy to fill up.

On the low setting the water lasts well over 12 hours-I haven't timed exactly how long. On high it goes for about a little over 11 hours. The auto shut-off works very nicely.

I really think this product is great so far. I've paid more for it at a local store and still think it's worth it. The Amazon price is really great which makes it a great buy.

I purchased this product 3 weeks ago. I chose it because I prefer a warm mist humidifier and did not want to be bothered with filters. It has been great. If you follow a few basic steps, keeping it clean and running at top performance is not a big issue.

1. Empty the tank whenever unit is going to be off for more than a couple hours. I forgot to do this once and it formed lots more scale and took a lot more time and effort to remove it.

2. If you do not use distilled water (which I don't), descale the heating chamber with white vinegar every day or two. White vinegar is cheap. I don't have to mess with gallons of distilled water bottles or filters for my faucet. I live in a very hard-water area and this method has worked for me: When I get up, I unplug the unit, empty the tank, and put vinegar in the heating chamber. By the time I've showered and dressed, the mineral deposits have begun to fall away from the heating unit. It only takes a bit of prodding to remove the stragglers. I then wipe with a cloth. If I'm going to be home, I refill and start the unit. If I'm going to be gone, I put everything in the dish drainer & it's ready to reassemble and use when I get home. This amounts to about 5 minutes of effort daily. Once a week I disinfect with the bleach solution as recommended in the manual.

I hope this helps. Using the above methods have made this the simplest humidifier to run and keep clean that I've ever had. It also looks like the washer in the tank cap can be purchased at any hardware store, an issue I've had with previous humidifiers. It would be nice if the product came with with a replacement washer and gasket but it's not a perfect world.

UPDATE, Dec. 12, 2010: Starting the second winter of using this humidifier. I've discovered it's even quicker & easier to keep scale at bay if I make sure the tank does not go empty. In the morning I then unplug the unit, remove the water tank,cooling chamber & tray but leave the water in the heating chamber. I then add vinegar to the water in the heating chamber & let it set for several minutes. This loosens what little scale has formed overnight and it's easily prodded loose. I then empty & rinse the heating chamber, dry it, and the unit's ready to go. I've been using the unit this season since Thanksgiving this year & it's performing like new. I always run it on low but will probably use the high setting sometimes later in the season. If you let the tank go empty using tap water the scale build-up is much worse. I'm still very satisfied with this product.

After trying another comany months ago to get one of these, i tried Amazon. The unit came in packaged very well. After removing it from the packaging i found a few impefections in the finishing along the bottom cove. Looks like the finish cracked. Probably from being set down too hard on its bottom. I say that because the compressor is mounted on a brace and that brace dad a spot weld break and the metal brace is sagging in the middle. I was concerned that it may not work. Unfortunatedly, i probably wont know for some time as it is cold in the northeast and that wont kick on until it gets hot. The heater and all other functions are working well. It is a little difficult to add water to the reservoir, but it can be done. The unit has good workmanship and the cedar components smell great. Drawers work well, gless door seals very well and my cigar collection is now at a stable temperature and humidity. The controls are simple and easy to use. The inside light casts a nice blue hue in the upper half. So far it is what i needed. I would recommend this to anyone who is willing to pay a premium for this type of humidor. I paid for expedited shipping, but it came a few days later than expected. Overall, a very functional and nice looking unit.

Pros:

1. Stylish: arguably the best looking humidifier available to US consumers;

2. Cool mist (versus hot mist), doesn't heat up the room.

Cons:

1. It produces a plasticky smell. I have used it about 5 times, and the smell still exists. I am not sure if bc it's new. It's not noticeable if you are in the other side of the room, but definitely can tell if you are near the machine.

2. Expensive initial cost, and cartridge/filters extra.

Other Comments:

1. Mist falls because it's cool (versus hot air rises). I am not sure if this makes the mist less effective if you place the machine low.

2. It's quiet, but not silent. We are used to sleep in silent rooms, and the continuous hissing is bothersome.

I don't know what the problem is, but this humidifier will not stay on. When we turn it on, it starts producing "steam". You can actually see it come out. Then a few minutes later, it stops. It won't go on when we push the button again. But if we leave it for hours, we can get it to go on again, but just for a short time. And it's not that the room has reached some level of humidity. We live in the desert. We are sending it back. I don't know if it's just this unit or if I should try a completely different brand but we are not happy at all. I will add that I was able to return it easily for a full refund without having to pay for shipping. Thanks for that.

It sends out a nice mist, is easy to clean, and so far after near continuous use for the last 5 months, I haven't needed to replace the filter. And I have hard water.

The only complaint I have it that I keep thinking that the top handle, where you lift off the water tank, is a handle for picking up the whole humidifier. Oops! Otherwise, great design and quiet, too.

I also like how you can turn the lights off.

I'm disappointed to report that my recently purchased ANTON will be shipped back to Amazon tomorrow.

The stylization is really bar none. The thing really turned heads when it delivered to my office in late January.

The output, while no steam engine, served the needs of my small studio apartment in wintertime Chicago.

The morning following first use, I found the reservoir compartment to contain about 2 inches of standing water.

I unplugged the unit, dumped the water, refilled the reservoir, and set the unit for a second night's use.

In the following morning, in addition to the 2" of water in the reservoir, there was what I'd estimate to be one pint of water sitting in a large puddle under the unit. This pattern of failure continued for several nights. I emailed the company and googled for tips to no avail.

It's my belief that the design flaw is confined to the valve spring inside the removable filter.

Perhaps a replacement filter will resolve this issue for you.

Me ? I'll just go with a less costly, sturdier alternative.
