I've had this humidifier for 3 years and it has been a great machine!! I use it every night, mostly in the fall and winter months, without fail. It is quiet and small enough to place on a night stand by my bed. I use purified water and I don't have any problems with white dust or water spots. I would recommend 2 of these for larger bedrooms or living areas. Very easy to use and keep clean.

I've been using this machine for 2 weeks in a bedroom every night to stave off the drying winter months. It's quiet, functional, and relatively cheap. For a small room, consider this product!

This is extremely quiet and runs well. If you have hard water I strongly suggest cleaning it after every use or the hard water deposits will build up

Honest reviews on Ultrasonic Humidifier w/ Nightlight by Air Innovations

This review is from: Ultrasonic Humidifier w/ Nightlight by Air Innovations no explanation was rec'd on the packaging slip which also indicated a (black unit). In addition, if you are looking for a humidifier to cover an extremely small area and I mean small (i.e. nursey room no bigger than -8 x 10then this might be useful. The item was ordered to cover a small bedroom, but I find it's just a waste of electricity. The machine runs full for approximately 5-6 hours, and then it's empty with a significant amount of water left in the base. I would only give this a (1) star rating and that's only b/c of the style, size and it is indeed a quiet device. Overall dissappointed.

This humidifier was not as quiet as I thought it would be. Also, it gets the surrounding area wet.

This machine does the job, however, it takes white noise and raises it to an all new level of annoying. I suppose we'll get used to it, however, if you are looking for something you can't hear, this humidifier isn't for you. I know most of them are considered loud, but I have had at least 4 models over the years and the VICKS one we have in another room is far quieter, although quiet isn't the word I would use to describe it. I guess you would have to deal with the noise with any machine, but this one is louder than most.

I'm really scientific about stuff and it was no different when it came down to finding something to add more humidity to the air in my townhouse. I looked at three main options, the vaporizing or misting humidifiers, the filter/evaporation type humidifiers, and the types you install in your central air conditioning system.

I owned a couple vaporizing or misting humidifiers. I did not find them to be the best because they will pump water vapor into the air constantly with no regulation. Therefore you can easily get too much humidity. Also, they vaporize whatever impurities are in the water so those are also put into the air. Because the Jarden unit and similar types draw air over a wet filter and require evaporation to occur, as the humidity level rises less and less evaporation will take place. So they kind of self regulate. This Jarden unit has a hygrometer type sensor in it though, so you can set the humididty level. I tested the accuracy with an external calibrated hygrometer and it was fairly accurate.

The last type of humidifier is the type that installs in your home central air system. These are expensive and much more difficult to install and for those reasons I did not go that route.

I also bought this from Jarden. Since it's getting colder and winter time's around the corner, turning the heat on makes my nostrils and mouth really dry. So, I wanted a humidifier to help me out! I've been using mine for 5 days now and I love it!

Pros:

-$16

-I can feel it working-the cool mist

-The water definitely goes downso I know it's working...

I like the choice of settings: low and high, and % of moisture/humidity

Cons

-bit loud, but it's fine on a low setting. I watch TV before going to bed anyway, and I dont really hear it.

But Im used to it now,

Honest reviews on Jarden Consumer Heater SCM1866-UM Sunbeam Cool Mist Humidifier

I bought this unit from JardenStore when it was on sale. After two weeks use, this unit is now collecting dusts in my basement. It works OK on blowing mist, but WAY too noisy even at lowest speed setting. And worse, if you set it to run at automatic mode to maintain a humidity, it comes on and off in every tens of seconds bad design I would say.

This product can run for many hours even on the highest setting on one tank of water. It senses the humidity level, and you can either set it to the humidity level you would like and the speed you would like or set it to run continuously on the speed you would like. It really does a great job of moisturizing a pretty impressive size area, like say 150-200 sf would be my estimate, though high ceilings make it harder of course. As far as noise is concerned, it sounds like a fan because there is a fan in it, of course. You just aren't going to get anything that doesn't have the fan sound unless it uses heat to humidify. This works by running a fan over a wet filter, it's very energy efficient. But having 3 different speeds is very helpful, because the low and medium settings are pretty quiet. I also like the holding tank. It is sturdy and large. You can also fill it while the machine is running since there is a reservoir of water in the bottom. I bought this humidifier because my guitar needed some moisture, but I realized that my skin needed it too! It makes a cold winter much more bearable when there is some moisture in the air at home, and moisture can even prevent colds. Now I'm using it in Arizona for the opposite weather phenomenon.

I've tried so many air purifiers due to my allergies but realized how ineffective they were after reading an article about how manufacturers claim it catches 99.7% particles (but don't specify the size of the particles). From the Vornado AQS 500 to the Honeywell, they just didn't help at all and I still found myself relying on Zyrtec and Allegra just to alleviate my headaches.

After a month of using the Sharp FP-A8OU-W I can honestly say this is a really good machine despite the high price. Whenever I feel the my sinuses acting up, I hit the quick clean and my symptoms vanish after 10-15 minutes. It's extremely quiet and has an auto-sensor on how dirty the air is. I thought mine was broken because it was constantly green, but when my cats jumped up on it once it switched over to orange (dirty cats!) which was interesting but it still stayed on low. Regardless, I just hit that quick clean when needed and it goes full blast for about 5-10 minutes or so and reverts back to low which is nice. I don't know if that Ion plasmacluster actually does anything but sound cool but I'm not complaining since this is the only air purifier that actually worked for me.

This is my second one of these. I have pretty bad asthma and have tried out several different purifiers with mixed results. With this purifier, however, there is a noticeable difference in air quality. It is quiet and barely noticeable on the low and mid settings. I like having white noise when I sleep, so I will usually leave it on high at night despite the fact that it is a little loud. It kind of works well for noise cancelation. The plasmacluster ion system does make a kind of clicking/beeping sound, but you can turn it off or on as you wish. The most important thing for me, though, is that it really helps remove dust and other allergens, and it has really helped with my breathing.

I received and set up the unit over the weekend. When you turn the unit on for the first time, there is a distinct smell coming from the fans over top which I think is something many negative reviews talk about. I suspect this is the natural odors from the filters (active charcoal in the pre-filter, perhaps). I mistakenly put my face over the top vent where the filtered air blows out and suffered a bit of a headache from this odor. NOTE: The odor went away after a few hours of initial use.

Since the "auto" feature sets fan speed based on the "baseline level" of particulates in your room, I ran the unit on high for the first time for about 45-60 min to clean up as much as possible, turned it off (and unplugged for a minute), and turned it back on using the state of the room at that point as my baseline.

One of the major selling points for me is how quiet the low setting is in my bedroom. If you listen close enough, you can hear the whirring of the fans, but we keep a ceiling fan running in the evening which makes the sound nearly imperceptible. On medium, the noise is certainly more noticeable, but I'd only use the medium and high settings during the day if I'm out of the room.

The reason why I purchased an air purifier is because my spouse is a chronic allergy sufferer and I'm hoping this unit helps her get a better night's sleep. It's only been one weekend so they jury is still out on the longer term effectiveness of the unit. But so far so good.

6-Month Update to come...

Honest reviews on Sharp FPA80UW Plasmacluster Ion Air Purifier with True HEPA Filter

I recently evaluated this unit and the Sharp KC-860U before buying several more FP-A80UW's. I selected the FP-A80 because of value. It offers a good combination of an activated carbon element, a pleated filter, and a 'plasmacluster' ion generator. It doesn't incorporate a high-maintenance humidifier and it offers a good flow-rate for the respective noise levels. I also have an IQ Air Health Pro Plus, to which I can compare this Sharp unit.

The most important thing to understand is that this is a bedroom size unit that will do a good job in a typical suburban house bedroom -certainly not a whole house.

The activated carbon element in this unit is light and although it's nice to have, you will probably realize a significant benefit from a filter with a much larger carbon load. The IQ Air GC series is a good example, but costly. The "V5" unit the the Health Pro Plus is good for a room, but it's a significantly larger and more noisy than this Sharp unit which simply lacks enough carbon. I built my own attic unit using sheet metal and bulk ctc60 I bought here on Amazon.

The pleated filter on the Sharp is effective, though certainly not as meticulous as the IQ Air HEPA filter. Bear in mind that "HEPA" is a performance rating of the filter media and not the filter unit or system. Laser-particle counter wielding fanatics have proven the IQ Air's superiority as a complete system. But certainly some filtering is better than none and the Sharp offers two advantages: a dust detection circuit that can be set to automatically increase fan speed based on the detection of particles; and a quieter noise level at low speed.

I suppose to compare the noise levels fairly, you would have to evaluate the clean-air delivery rate (CADR) to noise ratio. But "noise" is a subjective measurement and average-weighted "dB" ratings don't tell the whole story. Air filters are not often rated in "sones" either, and people have different opinions on various sound pressure levels at different frequencies. Regardless, the IQ Air HPP on the lowest setting is louder than the Sharp on the lowest setting. Whether it has a higher CADR or is better at any given noise level for any other reason, the IQ Air is louder. Possibly it can be made as quiet as the Sharp if you take out the V5. I don't know, but it's still several times more expensive and a lot bigger than the Sharp -which is simply to say that if you're looking for something quieter for the bedroom, the Sharp is worth considering.

The plasmacluster technology is interesting. While ion generators could be meaningful additions to air purifying equipment, they have side effects and their overall effectiveness seems questionable. If the technology was totally effective, we would certainly see more significant commercial applications. Sharp PR boasts of an application in the Imperial Hotel, but it certainly has the appearance of a promotional operation. Even ordinary, non 'plasmacluster' ion generators do not have widespread commercial adoption. Sharp's literature is nevertheless certain to point out how many millions of units they've sold to convince you otherwise.

Nevertheless, I 'believe' in the plasmacluster technology. I 'bought it' so to speak, figuratively and literally. While I have no way of objectively evaluating the results I'm getting as a consequence of using the plasmacluster ion generator, I can clearly distinguish one negative side-effect. Running the plasmacluster overnight significantly lowers the room's humidity to a level where it can become irritating -this is even with the humidifier in the KC-860U running. I had to supplement the KC-860U with an additional humidifier in the room to prevent this. Admittedly, I have very low natural humidity levels.

During the non-heating season, my house typically has 30 to 35% RH. My family is adjusted to living in low humidity. 30% would be irritating to anyone coming from a 50-60% norm, but we're usually not too irritated until it gets down into the teens or "bone dry." Even though I have several hygrometers, including the built-in unit on the KC-860U, the readings vary wildly. They're simply not accurate. More subjectively I can tell you that the plasmacluster unit seems to dry out the room badly. The reason I chose the FP-A80 is because it dispenses with the inadequate humidifier. My home's needs are much greater than the tiny unit built into the Sharp 860U which hardly keeps up with the unit's own demand. I opted for the FP-A80 and some higher output humidifiers that require less frequent maintenance. During the heating season, the demand for humidity is even greater as the cold air is incapable of holding much moisture and when heated, the RH drops to very irritating levels. I have a furnance-mounted 12gpd unit that helps with the extra demand in that season.

I suspect the Plasmacluster's consumption of water-vapour outstrips the 860's humidifier's output on low fan speeds. In order to get enough humidifier output to counter the plasmacluster, you have to run high and loud fan speeds or the Plasmacluster will dry out your air. Of course, this is a good thing if you have naturally high humidity -in which case you should certainly prefer the FP-A80.

While exactly how plasmacluster works is somewhat shrouded in marketing babble that is more bent on convincing you that it's good than explaining what it actually does in simple and realistic terms that would truly lay it bare, it's apparent that that Sharp is using some kind of plasma streamer to ionize water vapor molecules, the components of which are subsequently dispersed as both negatively and positively charged particles. While I find this explanation insufficient, we can at least be certain that it uses water. That not only means that it will dry out your room, but also that providing adequate water will also make it more effective. Since a humidifying unit like the 860 provides water vapor "at the source," the air passing through the plasmacluster should actually be at a much higher humidity than the room itself after the humidified air is diffused. Does that intense humidity at the source improve the plasmacluster's performance compared to an FP-A80 operating at room-level humidity? I suspect not because once the 860's hygrometer reaches 60% or so, the humidifier shuts off, at which point it would not have any continuing advantage to a non-humidifying unit, even if there was any advantage to it while the humidifier was actually running.

Unfortunately it's not clear with the FP-A80 and 860 units are what sharp calls "25,000 ions/cm3" or "7000 ions/cm3" generators. They advertise some very costly Japanese units as having the higher output generators but don't make it clear where the US models stand. At first I was concerned that I get "more power" because, of course, I want "more" of these things, whatever they are, because if some are good, more must be better! I suspect, but have no concrete evidence that the FP-A80 and the 860U have the higher production generators, but if they don't, I don't really care because they certainly fry enough water out of my air as it is. The costly imports from Japan do not have the value proposition of this FP-A80 at all. In that price range, I would go for IQ Air.

The right size, an attractive design, and it seems to be effective. I would prefer more than three fan speeds, but this is a minor quibble. The sensor which supposedly detects the presence of allergens doesn't seem to react to the pollens that bother me, so I just ignore it. All I know is that my itchy-eye symptoms are relieved after running the unit for a while. And the activated carbon filter removes odors.

At the lowest fan speed, the noise is almost indetectable. Medium speed is tolerable. High speed is slightly intrusive.

In this review, I will first summarize the major points and focus the details afterward. This way you can stop reading when you get the level of details you need. The definitions of "HEPA" and "CADR" are placed at the end of this review. Please vote for this review if you like it :) I appreciate it.

**Kimmer (another reviewer) has kindly uploaded a wonderful youtube video to demonstrate the noise level, title: "Honeywell Enviracare 50250 air purifier". Since your computer speaker will affect the demonstrated noise level, make sure you gauge the noise to Kimmer's voice.**

Pros: Powerful, inexpensive, permanent HEPA filter, easy to maintain, 360 degree air intake and output, portable, accessible replacement parts, good support from Kaz, a 5 year limited warranty.

Cons: Noisy, high power consumption, not stylish.

Previously I owned the Honeywell HFD-130 Germicidal Tower HEPA Air Purifier with Permanent IFD Filter, but due to its ozone emission and my respiratory problem, I returned it back to HomeDepot. I got fully refunded and bought this Honeywell 50250N on the same day and loved it. I have a mild allergy. I sneeze and experience itchy eyes when I am outdoor, but stop when I am at home (where my purifier is). I recommend two important points when shopping for a purifier: (1) always examines the CADR number. It is a decent performance indicator, (2) always buys an air purifier adequate for your need. A 100 sq ft purifier will not work for a 1000 sq ft living space.

Honeywell 50250N is a true HEPA filter purifier with a 250 CADR, which translates into a recommended 375 square feet usage space. Currently, this purifier is being sold at ~$160. It has been quoted as the only purifier $100 and quits working after 2 months. By the way, even though this is branded as a Honeywell, the manufacturer is a company called Kaz, according to the instruction manual.

Ever since moving to a new home just over a year ago, my husband and I have had an increase in our allergies and sinus problems. We decided on an air purifier for the bedroom since our symptoms were worse in the mornings, and we researched air purifiers for several weeks before deciding on this one. It was the least expensive model recommended by Consumer Reports, and the most conveniently sized for our very small bedroom. As a reference, our bedroom is 14 x 15.

Good points first: this baby moves a lot of air! On the high setting, you'll notice a difference in the smell and quality of air within just a few minutes. When it's on high, we can leave it in the bedroom but still tell that it's working in other rooms that are 30 feet away.

This purifier really does work well at removing smells. That's my favorite part of the purifier. It also seems to help with the allergies. It hasn't cured us, but my symptoms have reduced significantly, and I credit the purifier with that.

Now the not-quite-so-good: This purifier is loud. Believe what everyone says, if you have trouble getting to sleep with noise, you won't want this unit on at night. We like white noise so after just 1-2 nights, we were able to sleep just fine. On high, we can hear it through the whole house, and if it's in your living room you'll have to turn up your radio or TV to hear properly. While it's much quieter on low, it's still a bit louder than what I would choose for white noise. The blue light on the switch is pretty bright, too, and we had to cover ours so it wouldn't light up our whole room.

The air it puts out is warm, so in the summers, we have to turn the a/c down to compensate since it warms up our whole bedroom.

The fan is a bit off-balance, especially on low. It doesn't cause noise or affect the air output so we haven't returned the unit, but it's noticeable. The unit is kind of ugly and quite large. Before buying, I recommend deciding on where you'll put the unit and then carefully measuring a spot the size of the unit, just to see how much room it needs, especially if you have space issues like we do.

All in all, the concerns I had (noise, aesthetics, size) before buying it ended up being valid, but for the price and the good it's doing, I think it's worth it. I'd give this 3.5 stars but since we can't, I'll round up to 4.

Edit 8-7-07: My original review is from May 22, 2007, but I wanted to add a brief update. A few weeks ago we decided to get a second purifier for the other end of the house. This purifier is in our living room which is part of a large kitchen-dining-living room. The best thing about this second Honeywell is that it really gets rid of cooking smells quickly. The whole house smells fresher. As for allergies and sinus problems, last year at this time I'd already had 4 solid months of sinus problems. This year I've just had one episode and it was much milder than what I experienced last year.

This second unit doesn't have the wobbly fan problem our first unit did. The only problems were what I mentioned before: hard to find the room for the unit, and the sound is loud enough I have to turn it off to hear the TV or radio. I'm glad we have two of these purifiers and I definitely think it's worth the 4 stars.

I was about to actually purchase this, then, after reading everyone's reviews (good and bad) and researching on the Honeywell site and writing emails to Amazon support, Honeywell, and Kaz for product clarification, experienced the following:

Amazon support wrote me to tell me they were researching and would get back to me in a week. Then a week later they wrote back to apologize, they were researching still, and it was taking longer than normal. Then I didn't hear back from them. In the meantime, I wrote them to tell them what I'd learned. I have yet to hear back.

Honeywell's website DOES NOT LIST THIS MODEL 50250-S doesn't exist on their site. They list 50250-N and 50250. As mentioned by another reviewer 50250 has a different filter from the 50250-N he bought. The 50250-N he bought and described in happy supportive detail, however, is not the 50250-S you are looking at when you look at this product on Amazon for which I am writing this review. I wrote Honeywell asking about 50250-S and they told me immediately to contact Kaz Support, so I did.

Kaz support wrote me back fairly quickly, and told me this:

"We did make different versions of the 50250 series air cleaners. The original 50250 came with a HEPA filter that could not be cleaned of vacuumed, and this filter needs to be replaced every 1-3 years, depending on air quality and use. The HEPA filter that comes with the 50250-S is easy to maintain and can be vacuumed to extend its life. It is not considered a permanent filter, and should be replaced within approximately 3 years depending on air quality and usage. The 50250-N is the only version of this series that came with a lifetime, vacuumable HEPA filter."

There you have it. If you buy this item, you will need to replace the filter every 3 years, but you can vacuum its filter to extend its life. If you want the 50250-N you can't get it here. Just realize what you're buying. This detail is what convinced me to not buy this item, as I want a permanent filter for the price of this item to realize the full value of cost. It isn't worth it to me to pay this much then have to try and replace the filter in 3 years when Honeywell/Kaz are unlikely to even be producing this unit any more, let alone filters for it. By then, there will be an entirely new option at a better price with permanent filters.

Honest reviews on Honeywell Enviracaire HEPA Air Purifier

I have purchased several Honeywell air cleaners recently for my family (children, parents and brother's household) and have been very pleased with their performance and and engineering. I was looking for an air cleaner for my daughter's room and was given an older model by friends who had used it briefly before buying an Ionic Breeze instead due to the noise levelthe only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars. While that machine is a Sears labelled appliance, it is identical to a small Honeywell. It has effectively reduced her symptoms, and the noise hasbn't been disagreeable on lower settings with any of the machines. Using the higher settings an hour or so before bedtime and reducing the fan speed to low during the night produces a 'white nboise" that I find soothing.

Replacement filters (permanent) arte readily availabvle and economical (under $15.00 at Amazon). Other Honeywell air cleaners we have purchased differ in that they have no ionizer (not recommended by medical authoritiesi am myself a family physician) and in their capacity. All of the machines I have bought are the round hassock-shaped ones and this is an imiportant design feature in that these models use either og two sizes of replacement permanent filters as above. Larger models may use up to three stacked filters in place of the original and expensive non-permanent filter. All use a cut-to charcoal-containing pre-filter which may be vacuumed periodically and used for substantially longer than the packaging indicated (at least 6 months). The HEPA filters may be vacuumed as well, a simple maintenance task.

The filter that comes with a filter that is NOT permanent but is instead a "long-life" singlre filter with a recommended replacement interval of five years. It does not have a "permanent filter".

one of the big pluses for these machines is the excellent 5-year warranty. No machine in this price range except a few Hunter models offer a 5-year warranty, and Hunter permanent filters are far more expensive and hard-to find. I have noted some complaints about warranty service in other reviews of Honeywell products, but nonetheless it is still a very good value.

I ofund some of my machines in the local Goodwill for $10 or socheck it out!. On new machines, I really couldn't beat the Amazon deals substantially and ordered one of these and another odel for family. My brother was so impressed he went out and bought 2 other machines (regrettably, not Honeywell) for his fairly severe allergy problems. t wouldn't count on these machines to eliminate strong odors vcompletely but they do make a difference.

I would add a final note about my experience with central air conditioner filters. A NMERV of 8-10 is sufficient to remove almost all common allergens. Higher filtration requires larger surface area to prevent excessive air obstruction. We bought a filter some time ago that we couldn't use for that very reason. The most economical is the Lysol brand filter available in Lowes stores.

Removing bacteria from the air is unimportant"air sdanitizer" are a waste of money. Airborne bacteria rarely survive long and DO NOT cause odors in and of themselvesthey must be in a nutrient rich medium and actively growing to cause odors. As for mold, remember that removing moisture is the answer to that problem. A relative humidity of 40 % or less will take care of mold and mildew very nicely. So, use your AC, dehumidifier, or pipe wrench as needed to control moisture problems. As for vacuums, they all workIF YOU USE THEM! A central system that exhausts to the outdoors or a garage area that can be aired is a great option. bagless vacuums, water trap vacuums, etc really don't make much difference in air quality. We find that using simple bedlinens in the children's rooms which can be tossed in the dryer for 10 minutes are useful ways to control dust mites and remove some of their allergens. Stuffed animal toys can also be given a spin for the same reasion.

Sorry if I get carried away, but I have always felt a duty to teach my opatients to take care of themselves. I hope this has been helpful. The Honeywell air cleaners are a great way for allergy sufferers to take control of their symptoms in part.

Picked it up a few weeks ago from a Home Depot. I did end up paying probably $15 more for it than if I had bought it online. That is the way I wanted it because if it didn't work well I could easily return it with no hassle and maybe pick up another one. So I have 90 days to check it out. I purchased it for my basement rec room that is 16'x30' with an 8' ceiling. So I am looking at 480 sq feet. I think the purifier is rated for 340 sq feet... So I consider that close enough. I live in the southwest where it is dusty all the time. I also have a 16 year old cat that needs a good spanking. After two weeks of using the purifier I LIKE IT A LOT. It filters the room fast and leaves you with a really clean smelling room. When I come down the stairs and turn the corner to the rec room you can smell and feel the difference right away. So up to now (two weeks) everything is great. NOW FOR THE ISSUES: My purifier does indeed wobble at low and slighly at the mid range settings. The purifier is sitting on carpet so the amount of vibration that you see is extremely small. I think it may be more of a visual problem than a real mechanical problem. If it was sitting on a wood floor it might bug me but if I liked it I would put it on a rug or get some felt or rubber pads to put under the feet. The way it is now for me is just fine. I also wonder if you could put a small piece of duct tape on one of the blades to try to offset the wobble. You can do this sort of thing with ceiling fans and it seems to work... Just a thought. The second issue is indeed the NOISE. I have read all the reviews and some people are saying that it isn't loud. To these people I say you need to go to an ear doctor (LOL). It is loud on the high setting (Trust Me). However the way I look at the noise is, That's fine with me because I know it is really pushing the air through the filter and that's what I wanted in the first place. I think very few people could stand to listen to it on the high speed setting for more than a few hours. The medium speed is just barely acceptable and I could probably get used to it if I had to. The low speed, to me, is very acceptable. How you intend to use this purifier is a big factor in whether you should buy it or not. The way I use it is like this: I bought a $5 mechanical plugin timer which has the ability to set two settings per day. I have the filter set to HIGH and the timer is set to start at 11AM-2PM (3 hours on high) and then it shuts off and starts again at 3AM-6AM (3 hours on high). The rest of the day the filter is not running. We have no bad physical conditions where we need to run it 24/7 so the six hours that we run it keeps everything fresh. Unless you need it running 24 hours a day there should be a schedule that you can come up with where the noise is really never an issue. This purifier is really cheap to operate when comparing to the more expensive makes and models And especially if you never have to change the Hepa filter (My purifier says on box that you don't have to change it) but I will probably change it once a year or so. So, in conclusion, this Honeywell is a great purifier if you can work around the sound issue. I think the vibration issue is more a problem in your head than an actual mechanical problem. I do realize that my two weeks of operation is not a great test but if anything goes haywire I will be sure to let you guys know. Also consider buying it somewhere where you can return it if you don't like it.... Worth paying a few extra bucks I would think. Hope this helps.

Noisy but works great!

Small, portable, efficient, but way too noisy.

Dry air only goes straight up, needs an adjustable deflector to keep air circulating.

Good drain hose included.

I've owned 2 of these over the past 3 years. The first was bought while I lived in a dormitory at school. It leaked one day while I was at school and made a total mess of the carpet in my room! The humidifier was sitting on the floor. I tried placing it on a rack and then the window sill. Each time, it continued to leak. Fast forward, recently just bought another one as I misplaced mine after college. This one also leaks. Water overflows the basin and leaks out the back. I come home and find my night stand and the towel (which I placed underneath in case it dripped) SOAKED. I don't understand. I'll never buy this humidifier again even if it is an affordable price.

We owned one of these that was great. Unfortunately my husband broke the water basin. Subsequently we have owned 2 of them that leak all over the place unless the back end is propped at a sharp angle. At first we thought it was because we lived in and older house with unlevel floors but that isn't the case now!

I don't understand how a company can sell a product that is clearly as defective as this. The humidifier has ruined my dresser because of the leaking water. Checked the humidity of the room with a hygrometer over the course of several nights and this machine made absolutely zero difference. Tried two different units. Same results. Bad design and horrible leakage issues.

Honest reviews on Reli on Humidifier

Received this as a gift. I fortunately looked online before plugging it in, and saw that it leaked. Rather than return it immediately, I decided to try it overnight sitting in a baking dish, to see how serious the problem was. This was a very bad idea on my part; in the morning, I found that there was about a half-gallon of water in the dish, and that the place where the power cord attaches was only just above the water line.

Obviously, I have now returned this humidifier. In the future, I will conduct these experiments more carefully.

The problem appears to be that the water tank releases water more quickly than the machine can vaporize it. Because of this, the water level within the machine rises until it starts spilling out the vent in the back. This product should not have been put on the market in its current state.

It worked fine for about two weeks, then I came home one day and it had leaked all of the water out all over the dresser and floor. I returned the item.

This water panel was priced right and arrived quickly. But although it has the appearance of genuine Aprilaire media, it was not packaged in an Aprilaire-labeled box. So unless Aprilaire is allowing third parties to sell its media without the Aprilaire name attached, it would appear that the item is not genuine Aprilaire media.

I'm a DIY person, so when my tech told me that replacing the water panel would require time to take things apart, that equated to $'s to me for his time. You can learn a lot of how-to from the Internet!

Seller was accurate with product info and shipping was fast.

Saved myself a lot of money.

Humidifier needed a new water panel to replace the mineral coated old one. This fit perfect in our model of Aprilaire humidifier.

Honest reviews on Aprilaire Humidifier Filter, Genuine Media for Aprilaire Models

The filter is well constructed of Aluminum metal. The water flows easily. One drawback is that if your water is hard like my well water, it will build up scales easily on the filter material. One needs to wash it with power wash on a monthly basis.

The merchant is reliable and will repeat the business with him. He delivered in a timely manner and the price was reasonable.

I am using this for a completely different humidifier that is out of production. I have to cut it down to fit but it works well and has lasted quite a long time now.

Cheap Diamond Crown Large Humidifier (For 100-200 cigars humidors)

I'm going on my third humidifier. The first two leaked from the cap. The plastic lip around the threads to the cap had a small imperfection on both units. The imperfection is a tiny jagged sliver of plastic on the top of the threads that doesn't allow the cap to seat properly. I have older styles that appear to use a stronger plastic and have never leaked. I believe this problem is caused by a bad mold used in production. Just be aware to feel around the threads and make sure it's smooth. Lost some expensive smokes because of bad quality control. I do like Diamond Crown products but this one let me down.

My husband has had a humidor for years. Since before I met him even. I have watched him strugle at times to keep the humidity right, especially when we are gone for a couple of weeks each year. Last year, for Christmas, I bought him a Diamond Crown humidor. Let me tell you, it is beautiful, and it is all quality. It came with this system in it already. Wow, it is nice. Steve seasoned it, and within two days, it was running perfectly. So, he is really happy. The water capicity of this thing, is awesome. He checks it occasionally, and is always smiling when he opens it. Now, when we go on vacation, the water level is less of a concern. BTW, the old humi was very high quality, not some piece of crap, but the green foam system just wasn't great for holding enough water. Steve doesn't like usiong the gell beads, because that is just chemicals, and that is why he smokes cigars instead of cigarettes....less chemicals!
