This review is based on my initial impression. I bought it well before the season so I only ran it for one full tank of water.
The mist settings, digital hygrometer, and 9hr. timer are nice. It seems well constructed. I've never seen a steam humidifier like it.
The steam output is good. It is not silent, but it isn't loud. It sounds a bit like a cup of water boiling in the bottom of a bucket.
It has an automatic decalcification mode. I haven't used the procedure yet. I'm hoping that using highly filtered softened water will keep it clean.
Consumables include anti-mineral pads for routine use, and decalcifier for the cleaning mode.

Discount Puzhen Provence Essential Oil
I purchased this oil (along with Puzen Eucalyptus Oil) at the same time I ordered one of Puzen's top quality diffusers. I was looking for scents that were reminiscent of the scent you would experience if you spent an afternoon at a spa. This scent did not disappoint, although I couldn't tell a lot of difference in the Provence and the Eucalyptus oils. Both these scents are fresh and clean fragrances and they are very relaxing when combined with the colored mist and oriental music from the Puzen air diffuser. I am dismayed at the cost of high quality essential oils, but I do enjoy the experience of a fragrant mist scenting my home, so I feel it's worth the money.

Honeywell QuietCare 3-Gallon UV Tower Humidifier, HCM-300T Review
When I first started looking for a humidifier (my wife's asthma tended to flare up in coughing fits when the humidity dropped), I realized that there seemed to be no such thing as a "perfect humidifier"! After reading through as many reviews as possible, I realized that I wanted one that needed minimal cleaning, was pretty easy to fill, wasn't too loud and did a job of raising the humidity for a fairly large area (about 1200 sq.ft) without leading to other side effects (micro dust, mold and bacteria proliferation etc.). After ruling out "warm mist humidifiers" due to the heavy cleaning needs, "ultrasonic humidifiers" due to the micro dust generation, and "in line humidifiers" due to the intensive upfront installation labor requirements, I settled on the "cool mist" HCM-300T. It promised quiet operation, cleaning needs of only once a month (the UV light is supposed to reduce 99% of bacteria growth) and the capability to humidify "medium to large" areas as for the filling, I had come to the conclusion that no portable humidifier would help that daily chore!
The HCM-300T worked pretty well for the first 3 weeks wife loved it since her sleep was much better, without any coughing whatsoever. However, given the absence of a built-in hygrometer, I could never figure out exactly how much of the work was being done by the HCM and how much by Mother Nature. Also, filling the water container every night turned out to be quite the juggling experience since it hasn't been designed to stand upright on its own ....in other words, you are going to have to be standing right beside it, holding it in position! On the positive side, the water seemed to stay fresh without any mold/bacteria, even though I didn't engage in any cleaning during the 3 weeks. However, during Week 4, while carrying the water container back after a refill, the lid came off (unfortunately it has been designed such that the handle of the water container is on the lid!) and the container fell down into the tub with a thud, waking up my worried wife! On further inspection, I didn't notice any leaks, so having reassured my wife that I hadn't broken any bones, I refilled the container, gingerly carrying it back to the base unit. To my dismay, when the unit was switched on, water started spraying out of the bottom of the unit through the slots that normally cool moist air flows through and soon I had water all over the carpeting. Not sure whether this was triggered by the fall, but the water leakage never stopped from then on. Needless to say I had to return the unit!!
Based on this experience, I have added three more items to my "must-have" list: a built in hygrometer (that way I can actually judge performance on those really dry days), a rugged water container (so it can outlast the tumbles that I am certain it will be taking!) and a unit that has its air outflow from the top rather than the bottom, making sure that water doesn't leak out due to gravity. Wish me luck!!
Humidity increased 10% all over the room
Big tank.
Large hole to fill tank.
Small footprint
No dust
Looks good compared to most.
Great price for such a big improvement.
Cons
Filter needed changing within 1 month.
Breeze from fan is quite chilly, but we have it facing a direction away from seating area.
Putting the tank back can be a little cumbersome. It's easier if it is on a low surface.
Awkward to fill tank because it has a slanted top, you either have to prop it up or hold it the whole time.
We have tried 10+ humidifiers and nothing could compete with this, even a $200+ humidifier. Considering how much better the house feels it was worth every penny plus more.

We bought two of these in fall 06. After two months use, one of the units had a fan failure. It ran noisily for a few days prior to the failure, then ground to a halt. I called Kaz's customer service (the Honeywell name is licensed), and they agreed to send me a new one free. After five months use, the second unit failed in exactly the same way. This time, customer service required me to pay $20 for a new one to be shipped, and they required in each case the return of the defective one at my cost for shipping. They are simply NOT durable! We now have one in service, with the other as a backup since we anticipate a product failure this winter. One other thing: they are awkward to fill. The water chamber has a curved bottom so it will not sit flat in your sink. You have to balance it with one hand, and operate the faucet and put on the lid with the other. This design defect is SO obvious it makes you wonder how function followed form in product design. You also need a fairly deep sink or a tall spigot to fill it without tipping it and spilling. The filling problem is aggravating since you need to fill it at least twice daily. As far as ability to humidify, it works reasonably well, and is fairly quiet. But I wouldn't recommend this unit at all after living with it.Best Deals for Honeywell QuietCare 3-Gallon UV Tower Humidifier, HCM-300T
The only positive thing I can say about this humidifier is that it looks better than those big boxy ones. Oh, and I guess the fact that ours hasn't leaked on the floor (like some other reviewers have had) could be considered a positive. It usually doesn't even last a whole night before running out of water and it's not like I live in the desert...our house can't be THAT dry. Yet, the room is still dry and we still wake up with sore throats and dry skin. We've had other humidifiers that worked fine, and I'm noticing that those usually shot the humidified air out the top (you know...into the air!). This one shoots the humidified air out near the floor, so it would take 3 days for the room to fill with humid air. The thing rarely shuts off unless the outside air is more humid on that particular day. Speaking of shutting off...doesn't this thing have an automatic shut off when it runs out of water?? Ours NEVER shuts off, so when it runs out of water the fan dries up the filter (which you aren't supposed to do). So every night I have to refill the tank and re-soak the filter (which you're also not supposed to do, but I'm not putting in a new $10 filter every night). We haven't been bothered by the noise...it's what you'd expect from any other fan. It's just a constant hum that we kind of like since it drowns out other outside noises.Honest reviews on Honeywell QuietCare 3-Gallon UV Tower Humidifier, HCM-300T
After reading the previous reviewer's comments I was quite surprised. This humidifier changed the humidity in my entire 1 bedroom apartment from 48% to 60% in less than 1 hour. It only uses 1/2 of the tank of water over a 15-hr period. I didn't experience a browning tank or filter, although I filled the tank with filtered water purposefully so it wouldn't have to be cleaned as often. I hardly notice it when it cycles on because it is so quiet. It does cycle on and off but usually stays on for about 60-90 min and then off for the same amount of time. Perhaps the last reviewer didn't notice a change in humidity because his room was already at 60% this is the upper limit the humidifier can reach according to the manufacturer. There are no wet spots on my floor, no condensation on the windows, and no white dust from metals in the water vapor. The only thing I was a little disappointed about is that if the fan is facing you, it can make you a little chilly, but not enough to really bother me. It was very easy to set up, and I love that it doesn't look like an awkward box sitting in the middle of the room. Would definitely recommend it without reservation.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Honeywell QuietCare 3-Gallon UV Tower Humidifier, HCM-300T

I've tried everything to regulate humidity in my humidor. I generally keep my box less than half full which has not helped things.
When I first put the jar not my humidor, the humidity shot up to 90%, likely because at the same time I put in a few soles I picked up that had been over humidified at the store. Left the lid open for 5 hours and closed it up. Since then (two weeks ago) I've been at a steady 69%.
I threw out my old humidifier, I'm sticking with this going forward.

After a day of using this product it took my humidor from 70% to 55 and dropping i had to go buy a sponge humidifier kit to get it back to the right humidity so my cigars would not dry out. would not recommend this productBest Deals for Dr. RH-PhD Portable Humidation Device 2 oz
The product is great. It will maintain your small to medium humidor at 70-75% I have one jar in a 50 ct humidor. As the gel looses moisture the beads shrink and when they are hydrated they swell. The only complaint that I have is the manufacturer/distributor put a bar code sticker directly over the Max/Min levels. There is no way to see when to add solution/water after the beads shrink. I carefully removed the sticker cut some basic thinking on the manufacturer/distributor would alleviate this problem.Honest reviews on Dr. RH-PhD Portable Humidation Device 2 oz

I love this little humidifier! It has to be filled about every 6-8 hours when on the high setting, but it does a WONDERFUL job of humidifying. My old humidifier had a gauge for humidity that had humidified air blowing straight on it. According to that gauge, this humidifier does a better job of humidifying the room from across the room than the old one did blowing straight on the gauge.
I live in Colorado where sometimes it seems like we have negative humidity. This little machine makes it comfortable to be inside our apartment, easier on the kids and my wife and I for breathing, and it doesn't have an expensive and unreliable filter/wick to change like our old Holmes unit did. To put it bluntly, this humidifier kicks our old humidifiers rear end. Plus it's about 1/3 the size and much MUCH quieter. It's also a lot higher in quality in both materials and construction.
Cons: Finding replaceable absorption sleeves was almost impossible.
The absorption sleeve is a great idea. It slides over the heating element and it makes the unit very easy to clean.. And it makes the unit much quieter than other humidifiers. Because of mineral build-up on the heating element with other humidifiers I've owned they would need to be fully cleaned after every 2-3 times of use. But with this Optimus most of the minerals builds up on the absorption sleeve, not the heating element.. I clean the sleeve every 2-3 times of use, which is a breeze. It just slides off and I clean it with running water, then slide it back on.. The heating element still needs to be fully cleaned, BUT not nearly as often as with other warm mist humidifier.. Because of the sleeve there is much less maintenance..
But damn, good luck finding sleeve replacements. And they probably will need to be replaced once a year or so..Amazon doesn't have them.. Nor does Optimus. Fortunately Optimus makes the same exact humidifier for Kenmore. And of course Kenmore/Sears doesn't have them either, BUT I found the sleeves on Ebay under the Kenmore part number, NOT the Optimus part number. A 3 pack for about $10.. So I'm all set for the next few years.
Anyway besides that this humidifier is top of the line. Easily worth the money.
Update..quit working and returned it

I will admit that I was a bit dismayed at first when I set it up because it only worked for a few minutes and then the light for low water level came on even though it was full of water. I actually thought I have to send it back, but as a last resort I put it on a cookie sheet and it seems the surface I had it on was the problem (not level enough). Since then I have been very impressed, with a little practice I can get the humidity where I want it and the water will last for quite awhile. Also, maintenance on this thing is a breeze compared to other humidifiers I have owned. I am very happy and if I need a replacement I hope I can find one like this.Honest reviews on Optimus U-32010 3.0 Gallon Warm Mist Humidifier with Wicking Vapor
I've used several humidifiers (2 different ultrasonics, another boiler, and an evaporative), and this is my favorite. I've been using it for about 2 months and it works great. It doesn't have the drawbacks of ultrasonic (water impurities are put into the air, low output, makes the ground around it wet, and short life), or evaporative (needs a fan, which is loud at any output other than very low, filter needs replacement and can grow mold), and it is better than the other boiler I used (this one has higher capacity, much quieter, and no need to add salt to the water). It uses more electricity than an ultrasonic, but it's being turned into heat which you'll need anyway. With this thing running and my bedroom door closed, I can keep the thermostat about 5 degrees lower than without it. The output is very good; it can turn at least 2 gallons of water into steam in 12 hours. I haven't found the humidistat to be useful. It uses a thick fibrous sleeve over the heating element to reduce the bubbling and gurgling noise, but the sleeve gets loaded with minerals. Of course this is much better than having those solids in the air as dust. I've been cleaning the sleeve with an CLR-type cleaner.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Optimus U-32010 3.0 Gallon Warm Mist Humidifier with Wicking Vapor
I feel like I read every review on every humidifiers before I ordered this one. They all had some good Feedback, and they all had a lot of Bad Feedback. I want the same thing everyone wants. One that works well for a long time with the more convenient features. Well, this one didn't seem to have any bad feedback. Although it didn't have much feedback at all so it must be relatively new to the market. I want to like it. What I do like. The water storage is a nice size. It works thru one night maybe two before refill. It's as easy and convenient to remove, refill, replace as it could possibly be. Very quiet operation with just an occasional water gurgle. I always run on maximum on speed and level. I also bought a cheap humidistat to monitor my results. I ended up moving the humidifier directly beside the head of my bed and the humidistat within 2 ft. The machine uses up the water, so it's putting it out. But I could never exceed 40% humidity on the gauge even with continuous operation. The Bad. I had to wedge a piece of plastic in the float safety switch to get the unit to even operate. The float prevents the unit from running if not level or out of water for safety. Idea is good. Operation No Good. Also used a big rubber band to hold the water tank and unit closer together so the other safety switch wouldn't prevent operation thinking water tank was removed. So....I can't recommend. I'm still trying to decide if I'm even going to keep it. But it does put the warm mist out quietly...........Update..quit working and returned it

Filter and area around it gets REALLY moldy fast. We use it without filter or water as a noise machine while kids sleep and for that, it's great, especially on the high setting.
