Bought three (one for each room) + the calibration kit. Calibrated one, and then matched the other two to it. All were within 2% when they arrived, one needed no changes.

Adjusting them is hard, needed some trial and error. I used another meter as a control while I adjusted the first one.

They are very sensitive, touching them briefly will cause the temp and humidity readings to change, so I had to make a change, let it settle for a few minutes, and try again. It sure was cool seeing all three meters read exactly the same when I was done.

These meters are small, about 1.5" across. Mine had stick-on magnets, and the magnet came unstuck after a few months. Pressing it back on has worked so far.

I tried several other (more expensive) consumer humidity meters under $50, and none even came close to the accuracy of these. Some claimed adjustability but they wouldn't adjust at all. My previous one read low by about 6%, and some I tried were off by up to 10%. After that experience I will never use an uncalibrated humidity meter again.

I was worried I would have to buy one of those $100+ laboratory models to get an accurate reading, these guys came to my rescue.

Now my guitars are safe, my shower no longer has mold, and I don't let it get too dry which promotes various infections (sinus and throat). I like around 55-60% relative, and slightly higher when I sleep.

Update: almost a year later, the stick-ons won't stick back on anymore.

The cool part is all three of them still give identical readings, no recalibration seems to be needed, and the batteries haven't run out yet either.

This is the third one of these I've gotten in just more than a year. They have been used in sheltered locations in blizzard conditions and in hot/humid situations where both the temp and humidity were in triple digits. In waiting a decent period of time before reporting the experience with them, I wanted to be able to give more than just a first impression.

DESCRIPTION: The device itself is 1 3/4 inches diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with LCD readout (not backlit) that's 1/4 inch tall in a window 1 3/8 in wide x 3/8 in high. I think it's easy to read with adequate light. It's powered by a 357A button battery (less than 30 cents apiece if bought in a 10 pack on Amazon) which is accessed by a slide compartment on the back. The battery space is designed under the mounting area so it's easy to replace, although the original is still going strong after a year.

MOUNTING: It comes with a crescent moon shaped magnet built into the back (it's lightly glued and can be removed if desired) and is quite strong and not easily dislodged from a decent metallic surface. An adhesive backed strip with a thin metal pad the same shape as the magnet is also included for use in placing a mount where a metal surface does not currently exist. The adhesive is rather weak and short lasting and I would suggest that double sided mounting tape be used if this method were chosen for a more secure fixture. There is no hole on the back for a nail hanging.

FEATURES: The humidity reading is adjustable by a 3/8 inch diameter rotating dial on the lower right face. Each click of the dial moves the setting up or down 1%. The red button in the top center changes the temperature reading from Fahrenheit to Celsius and there is a small slightly recessed button on the lower left face that needs to be pressed to reset the humidity reading after the dial is moved. It's a safety measure I think because the dial is prominent and easily moved if the operator is not careful, or if children pick it up. Moving the dial without pressing reset does nothing. The temperature reading is not adjustable.

RELIABILITY & ACCURACY: Straight out of the box all three of the ones I currently have were within 2 degrees of a calibrated laboratory thermometer at temperatures varying from 2 degrees F to 106 F. Over time they differ by only one or two degrees generally when placed within one foot of one another for a 24 hour period. Similarly, compared to a laboratory grade hygrometer, straight out of the box they were within 2 points reading humidity, and over time have maintained that degree of accuracy from an 18% to 100% saturated environment. It responds to small changes in temperature (less than 10 degrees) within 5 minutes and humidity (less than 20%) within 10.

The main reason I chose this model over others was the adjustability of the humidity reading. Consumer grade humidity readers are notoriously inaccurate, even ones from famous "Scientific" manufacturers from Oregon. I did place each one in a 75% calibration environment (laboratory grade because it was available, but there are consumer ones available on Amazon that work fine for under $6) and each one read between 74 and 76%. So for the small sample size of 3 devices in my experience, none needed calibration. I tried the adjustment dial anyway, just for fun, and as advertised, one click = 1%. The clicks are subtle however, so be forewarned you may turn the dial farther than you intend. The device responds quickly so it does not take long to correct your mistakes. Don't forget to push the reset button though, or your efforts will have been futile.

SUMMARY: For the money this is really a very accurate and reliable piece of equipment. It has a major advantage over other humidistats in being adjustable. But I think its greatest advantage is that it comes from the factory actually calibrated, so it's accurate out of the box. For these type devices temperature has pretty much become a no-brainer even $5 desktop penholders are pretty close. But I have found it rare that humidity readings are anywhere near accurate. For people looking for a temp/humidity sensor for wine cellars or cigar boxes or damp basements for determining when to run a dehumidifier, or dry air during the winter for a guide running humidifiers, this thing would suit well.

I read many reviews of all the available hyrgrometers before purchasing this one, and I took a "wait and see" approach, because I had some reservations. But after having purchased this product, I can say without hesitation that I am 100% satisfied. The device was close to spot-on accurate out of the box, and was pretty easy to re-calibrate once I got the hang of it. I would highly recommend either the pre-manufactured Boveda calibration kit, or else a homemade calibration kit, to aid in the calibration process. Here are some tips that I discovered along the way:

1. When it comes to pressing the small reset button on the left of the hygrometer, which you have to press after turning the knob on the right to recalibrate the unit, I needed to use the tip of a pen (retracted) because trying to push it with my finger alone did not work.

2. Maybe it's just me but after I read the directions (i.e. "Turn the knob one click in either direction to calibrate the hygrometer..." etc) I expected to see the numbers immediately change with each "click" that I turned the knob. It doesn't work that way. You have to turn the knob however many clicks you need to to get to the magic "75" (i.e. if it's reading 73 after a good amount of time in the calibration packet, you have to turn it 2 "clicks" clockwise; if it's reading 76, you need to turn it one "click" counterclockwise, etc.), press the small reset button on the left side, then put it back in the calibration bag, then wait a while to see if it ends up reading 75% R/H. Also, I never really heard any clicks. I had to find the larger "center" line on the face of the hygrometer, then see where the tiny little pointer was on the knob was, and adjust accordingly.

3. As the instructions state, after you recalibrate and press the reset button, you have to press the red button to get back to F (vs C) if you're using F (and not C).

4. The unit is very sensitive once it's out of the calibration bag, so you have to do the adjustments rather quickly then get it back in the bag a.s.a.p. so it can re-adjust itself and give you an accurate readout. Sometimes it takes more than one adjustment attempt to nail it at 75. It shouldn't take 24 hours by any means before it gives the actual readout; a couple of hours seemed to be the average on the units I purchased.

I ended up purchasing 4 more after my initial purchase, and these units seem to be consistently well made. All 5 hygrometers work very well, and after the first one, they were all pretty easy to set up. Additionally, the thermometers appear to be quite accurate as well.

If you need a really nice little digital humidity checker for your humidors, I like this little item. I took it out of the box, pulled the tab, put it in my humidor and in an hour I had a reading exactly like my fixed hygrometer. I want a couple more of these for my smaller humidors. The seller was really great. I had the item in half the time I expected and everything was packed well to arrive here safe. Buy the item and use this seller for your needs. I can't recommend this product and the seller high enough.

Well I did a lot of research for white noise machines. The short of it is, I even stopped in to Brookstone to hear the $70 white noise machine. It wasn't near as loud as this one. But a few comments on this Graco.

-The noise can sound extremely loud or sometimes more quiet depending on the surroundings. It's loud enough for us, and when you first turn it on (highest volume) it sounds very loud. But after a short time, it sounds normal, or even like we could stand it louder. But it's been good.

-All the features are great, though we don't use many. Only white noise and night light

-There was some loose cheap parts that were making some rattling noises randomly. It was very noticeable and annoying. I put a rubber band around the unit vertically, and we haven't heard them sense. It was just cheap platics parts rubbing.

For the money, we're content with this product. It has it's pros and cons. The white noise is a little too deep for us. But all things considered, it's a very decent product compared to anything else on the market that I researched.

This seemed like the perfect product for my baby's room, combining an MP3 player with white noise and a night light, so I made the purchase. It is well built; the music that is programmed into it is quite nice; and the nature sounds are better than I have heard on other white noise machines. BUT the main reason I bought this machine was to create white noise in my baby's room. Unfortunately, I have returned it because the white noise is just not loud enough to block out normal household sounds. Graco, you almost got it right.

Bought this after I sold my graco sweet peace soother. I really like the blue night light feature. Sounds and songs similar to the sweet peace soother. Only negative is the sounds the buttons make when u push them. They make an annoying click. Otherwise love it. I never used the iPod feature on the SP Soother but I have with this sound machine. Music is well projected and sounds good although I've only played yoyo ma.

I have been having issues turning it off...I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to shut off. Kind of irritating. I use the HoMedics sound machine below in my sons room and I've never had any problems. I prefer this one.

The Graco Sweet Dream Sound Machine is sturdily built easy to use and has more features than I thought possible at this price point. All of the built in sounds are digitally generated and the sound quality is quite good despite it's small speaker size. The womb sounds are really cool and pretty convincing and there are a few different frequencies of white noise to choose from as well as a volume switch. It has a built in LED night light with an independent switch, and it even comes with a few music selections that are reminiscent of an old wind up music box installed on the device. It's mp3 connection is hidden in the swiveling plastic base that seems a bit flimsy compared to the rest of the unit, but it can house a full size iPod if you wish to slip it inside while it is connected. The unit comes with an A/C power adapter or you can use AA batteries if you wish. The outer housing is plastic but the grill area appears to be enamel coated metal, which was a pleasant surprise and makes the unit feel more substantial and sturdy. All of the switches appear to be high quality sealed micro switches and the overall quality is very nice. I am impressed with this unit, and think that the folks at Graco did a fantastic job designing and building this product. It is yet to bee seen if the baby will like it, but I am duly impressed.

I think it's a cute machine that does most everything great, but we really needed something LOUD to cover the street noises and neighbor noises in our urban neighborhood. And we wanted the womb noises, which seem to be quieter than some of the other noises. We had been using the sound machine that comes with the graco sweetpeace swing, but that one is much louder; however, we have to return it to a friend of ours pretty soon.

They do seem to help with collection of minerals from the water you use. But, you still have to pay attention to the scale build up on the heating element. Do not let it build up, as it is really hard to remove it. Use white vinegar as least once a week to clean or soak the heating surface.

I also found that as it comes with two pads together; that was blocking the water from flowing into the heating area, so I just separated them and use one pad at a time.

Great Product! If you do not have a home water softener, or the desire to buy distilled water at 2 gallons per day, you NEED these Mineral Absorption pads. I've run my unit 24/7 with the exception of cleaning and refilling all winter. With the pads, the cleaning is easy, very little mineral deposit inside the base. With an old pad or without one at all, what a mess thick crusty hard water deposits built up everywhere inside the base!

However, I do think somewhere in the information about this product it should be said that these are the 3 1/4" pads.

Bought the pads a month ago and just for S&Gs (shiz and grins), I decided to take a look at the pads today just 1 month later. The tank water looks clean so I guessed the pads were not needed. Duh! Holly ships!!! The pad accummulated more minerals from my tap water than I thought possible. The tank water looked clean. I won't pre-soak in vinigar until I know what will happen to the minerals that I now know are in the water.

P.S. I use the pads in a new Vicks/Kaz 2-tank Model V790 Germ-Free Humidifier for Medium/Large Room Size. It provides pure, sanitized warm mist to the environment.

P.P.S. These pads are NOT filters! They are meant to absorb minerals from the water and they do that VERY WELL.

I've tried a variety of other products to get my humidor to stay at a consistant humidity and this is the first one that actually worked for me. It does take some time for the humidity to stabilize initially (a few days in my case) but now my humidor is at a consistant 68% humidity and has stayed there for a few weeks now. Also, while there was a defect with the tube I recieved, I did not remove a star from my rating because once I contacted the manufacturer, they bent over backwards to make sure I was a happy customer. I plan to buy more as gifts for my cigar-loving friends.

We like these so much we got two. We have one in the living room and one in the bedroom. We only put distilled water in it because we have learned our lesson with hard water. It is very quite, cuts down on static electricity in the room. We snore less because of the humidified air in the bed room. The best thing about it is that it is cold air humidity. I chose this based on color alone, and it was supposed to be the deep orange shown here. The item arrived a very pale orange and doesn't Match the room whatsoever. It's too late to send back, not to mention it would cost me additional monies. There are others posted where the color is accurate by other sellers. They need to update the picture.

Some of HEPA filter units put the carbon behind the HEPA filter, and some put it in front. The Vornado has the carbon as a pre-filter, saving the expensive HEPA portion for particulates. I find I change the carbon filter rather often, and so a four-pack for me is a sensible idea. I absolutely notice when the carbon has loaded with whatever muck is in the air. Then it's time to install a new one, which is not terribly difficult. I'd rather not have the HEPA filter pick up volatile components from the air, so I'd say this pre-filter works very well.

I bought 3 Vornado AQS 15 air puirifiers early in 2003 for my home and office. After almost 10 years of use, they still work great and I've been very happy with them.

So I was dismayed when I opened the latest box of presorb filters and discovered that they are of very poor quality-half the thickness of the presorb filters I'd been getting and transparent!

We're all struggling to survive in a bad economy and I can understand cutting the cost of production, but I was pretty disappointed to see this. I'll probably use up my remaining supplies and go shop for some other brand of air purifier.
