Discount Burl Wood Humidor 6 Piece Cigar Gift Set with Ashtray and Cutter
I got my fiance a cigar of the month club membership for a Xmas gift. I thought it might be something relaxing for him. But he didn't have anything to keep the cigars in so I bought this too. He loooves it. I also bought a digital hygrometer. The analog one that comes with this one may be good but I thought digital may be more accurate. Also got him a leather 2 finger case and a triple flame lighter. Bought humidifier liquid and zippo fluid too. He's new to this so I had to be as inclusive as I could. This little set is great, just isn't all inclusive in itself.

Buy DeLonghi PAC700T Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner
I purchased the PAC600T (one step below this unit) from Amazon one year ago. When it arrived, I filled the tank with water, inserted it in the unit and my floor was covered with water less than a minute later. Turns out the unit's plastic base housing was cracked during shipment. Amazon replaced the unit, with the same results for the second unit. At that same time, there must have been lots of returns because Amazon stopped selling the unit. I stepped up to this unit with its slightly higher BTUs and hefty price.
The unit arrived fine, no leaks after filling with water, and I used it most of last summer (in a 14' x 20' room with average height ceiling). The unit puts out cool, definitely not cold, air. The only way to really use the unit is to get it started when the temperature isn't too high, then keep it running. I don't think it would be able to cool a warm room. It simply isn't overly powerful. That may have to do with the fact that it operates at 110 volt, rather than 220 like many AC units that are built into apartment walls.
The unit has been sitting behind my couch all winter. When I went to use it this year, the removable plastic water tank was cracked. It was emptied at the end of the season and not exposed to excessive temperatures, so I don't know what that's about.
I assumed that with the high BTU (and price tag), this would be the unit to use. But I'm going to try one of the less expensive units this year and check out its performance.

I bought 2 units last year. At first it worked fine. Then, this season, when I started to use the air conditioners, one of the unit leaked at the base, ruining my wood floor. I thought I could just use it without water, and I found it to be very insufficient to cool off the room. I have used different models of pinguino and I found that the newer models are more problematic. If it isn't leaking, then it is the alarm light that kept coming on, shutting down the unit. I followed the maintenance procedure to clean the unit, but it doesn't seem to help. I am fed up with pinquino. I think I may have to switch back to those window units.Best Deals for DeLonghi PAC700T Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner
This product,DeLonghi 700T,was about the worst purchase that I have ever made. The unit ran for 10 mins and then shut off. After several attempts,we finally found the service center that replaced the fan motor--after a 4 month wait for the part. But that did not fix the problem--the unit shuts down after a short run.Because all of this has taken so long,Delonghi says that the warranty is now limited and that I have to take the unit to a service center 50 miles away.It has been close to 2 years and I still do not have a functioning air conditioner.Honest reviews on DeLonghi PAC700T Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner
I purchased a Pinguino PAC 700T 3 years ago. Rated at 12,000 BTUs, it cools about as well as a 6000 BTU in-window unit. However, at the beginning of this summer season, I find that it no longer cools or dehumidifies air. I found DeLonghi's central service number (800-322-3848 in case you need it) and asked for my nearest service/repair center. They informed me that they no longer have any repair centers in Massachusetts. They suggested that I take the unit to Hartford, CT, about 2 hours from Boston where I live. Having paid $1300 for this unit just 3 years ago, I expected better service than this. It appears that DeLonghi maybe doesn't care too much about supporting their products after the sale. This will be my last DeLonghi product of any kind.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for DeLonghi PAC700T Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner
I bought the 700 Pinquino A/C unit because of its excellent energy efficiency and quiet operation. I liked the looks too, so many others look so ugly that I would not have them in my livingroom. I have had the unit for two years now, and so far no problems at all. It works great, and is very quiet, and cools my 700sqft room well, although it takes a while when above 90F. The water reservoir lasts about a day before needing refilling. My only complaint is a minor one: The plastic finish is of good quality, but it scratches easily when moving the unit around and you bump into something. If it had some color matching bumper strips or something around its middle section, that might help. I am happy with this unit.Saturday, November 22, 2014
Cheap Safety 1st Soothing Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier
I have been looking for a filterless humidifier for the past couple years. I had a humidifier that I liked but it used these strange accordion paper filters. It only took a couple of months for the filter to get moldy or have lots of water deposits. It was pretty disgusting and I kept having to buy refills. That added up quickly. A friend at work brought her humidifier in and said she loved it. So I decided to invest in this one. I am really impressed. I took it out of the box and filled up the reservoir very quickly and had it on the machine running in less than 2 minutes. The other bonus is that the unit is ultra quiet. It makes a little bit of noise which is nice for the white noise but it isn't obnoxious or distracting. I love that you have a lot of options for the mist output. It isn't just 2 or 3 levels. There is a lot of variation. My favorite unique feature is that it has two mist outlets so you can have the air go in two directions (I am not really sure how important this is but it is a nifty feature). When you open the box the two misters are stacked but you can move them whatever direction you want. Finally, and most importantly I like that it is filterless. This saves a lot of money for me and I am just tired of gross filters. I am a big fan of this humidifier and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good humidifier. It is marketed as a baby room humidifier but I would just buy it the blue one and use it in every room of your house.
Update: For some reason the motor has started being loud when I turn it on. If it tap it, the noise goes down. I will keep you updated. 2/24 the noise is no longer an issue. Still working great. Love how quiet it is and the quality of the mist. My little girl is sick right now and it is helping a LOT. We must have got a faulty one. Motor stopped working BUT they are sending me a new base out in 10 days. Make sure to keep your receipt in case of a faulty product. Very impressed with the company.
Very quiet operation, when turned up all the way the most you will hear is a slight "trickling" noise from the ultrasonic waves splashing the water around.
Make sure the surface you put it on is level. Even a slight bit off can cause it to leak water.
In the past I've needed to buy on average a new humidifier each winter because they're always cheap and crap out, not so with this one. Overall the merits of this humidifier vastly out weigh my complaints.
Pros:
Quiet enough not to disturb baby
Ability to aim mist from top (it turns to direct mist)
Tank is not heavy and could be filled in bathroom sink
Bottom base, easy to clean (not easy to clean water tank)
Tight seal on bottom of tank
No filters to replace (though does require those useless protect cartridges)
Cons:
If you don't leave some water in the base (walk it carefully back to your room), when you load the water tank onto the clean, empty base about 1/3 of the water in the tank is immediately "lost" so you have to refill the tank again to make it through the night
Impossible to clean water tank (despite soaking with bleach and vinegar) we had nasty pink stuff growing and it couldn't be reached soaking in vinegar didn't work, neither did the bleach
Plastic was flimsy tank cracked in the middle of the second winter (though I was washing this thing every single day and did my best to be gentle and not bang it on the sink while attempting to reach the mold inside)
For the $25 I paid, it got me through a winter and I learned a valuable lesson about "cool mist" humidifiers AVOID. I actually ended up writing a review today because I was researching safety of these types of units and as it turns out, cool mist humidifiers have the potential to cause some real harm by spreading microbes and minerals from the water into the air. My next purchase will be a "warm mist" humidifier, with a UV light.

I've owned this humidifier for a little over a year now, and it's never let me down. The product description is a little lackluster though. I wouldn't use this in a room that's over 500 sq ft. It worked great in my bedroom last winter, but I have an open floor studio apartment now (around 7-750 sq ft) and it's just not enough. Even with refilling it twice a day and having it run 24/7 the humidity level in the air has never been above 40% (and that was on a warm, rainy day).Very quiet operation, when turned up all the way the most you will hear is a slight "trickling" noise from the ultrasonic waves splashing the water around.

Best Deals for Safety 1st Soothing Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier
I enjoy the absence of the whirring sound that my old humidifier had and the lack of a filter to get moldy is great. The first two nights I had issues with the area on the table and floor underneath and around the humifier getting completely soaked with water and thought I would have to return it until I realized that the directional nozzle that fits on the top of the tank had fallen on the floor when I opened it. I decided to try it one more time with the nozzle on the top and that resolved the soaking issue. If I run it at full blast it doesn't last the whole night but it works just fine at about 60% output. You can't refill it at a typical bathroom sink because of the height of the tank but I keep a water bottle handy and it does the trick. No real complaints. Its not fabulous but suits my needs and is offered at a good price.Honest reviews on Safety 1st Soothing Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier

I bought one of these at the start of last winter. Worked like a champ all winter. Light cleaning each week, using only filtered water and so far so good. Currently in use for the second winter and love having it!Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Researched everything I could find (including the reviews here on Amazon.) It seemed the most consistent complaints were about the over-flowing water pan and the noise. Kinda like a baby: it pees and it howls. So I knew what I was in for.
On the water: I'm not gonna criticize the machine for working so effectively on dehumidifying that it overflows quickly (although the manual does mention once that it has a "small" back-up tank to handle the water that isn't evaporated out the exhaust hose.) My solution was this: first, I placed an old metal t.v. tray with a lip all the way around it (to catch minor leaks at the base, though there haven't been any), on top of a simple step-stool (with a broad base.) The unit sits on the t.v. tray. That elevates the base 12 inches off the ground. This gives enough height to simply plop the drain-hose into the top of a one-gallon jug (I'm using an Arizona green tea jug 'cause it's a thicker plastic and unlikely to deteriorate. Bad for landfills, great for my application.)
Almost good enough, but it easily fills two gallons a day (if I run it constantly), here in Alabama. It only took one overflow when I forgot to check it, & I picked up a 4-gallon clear plastic 16" X 11" X 7"-high Sterilite pan for three bucks. With the gallon jug placed inside the pan (since that's easier to empty when I remember it), I have a couple days of 24-hour running without emptying, before an overflow makes it to my carpet. And I placed a regular school-type ruler between the t.v. tray & the step-stool to provide just enough backward tilt to ensure that the water would flow properly to the rear. Not too much: those wheels roll really well. In my placement, the exhaust hose (nearly at its shortest) stabilizes the unit.
Now, I know all this bucket-and-pan stuff ain't purty. But geez, there's this big ol' humongous exhaust hose right above it, so what's a little bucket or two? And it's clear plastic: if it really bothers me I can put some decals on it, right?
BTW, the hose drains MUCH better when you remember to remove the plug.
For the noise: yup, kinda noisy. But I sit about three feet in front of it while I do online videoconference-tutoring, and I usually can get away with using the speaker on my phone, except for my quieter students. And they don't seem to hear the noise. And it's no louder than my window unit. "Quiet" and "Noisy" are subjective in practice, so that's the most I can say.
About the exhaust hose: First, I really don't see how people can easily move the unit around, because if you're not careful, the hose can pop out of its window connector. That might have happened to me, though, because I was torquing it at awkward angles to try to fit it into my space. The hose is very stiff (a.k.a. seems well made.) Fortunately, nothing broke. I'm a cheapskate and read that the longer the hose, the more electricity portables will use, so I do wish I had a SHORTER hose. And although I'm sure there's more efficient wraps out there, I used what I had on hand, bubble wrap, to thoroughly wrap the hose (since air is a great insulator). It does put out quite a bit of heat along its entire length, so wrapping it well sends all the heat to the outdoors where you want it. I also placed a chunk of rubber insulation between the bottom of the duct where it attaches to the window panel, and my window sill. The exhaust hose puts out so much heat I wasn't sure what it would do over time to the cheap faux-wood on my mobilehome's window sill.
About the window-connector: pretty easy to connect. I only needed the main panel and one extender, which I simply scored at one end to break off the piece necessary to make it fit. (It took awhile to score it deeply enough, but I had a nice phone chat with my sister while I did it. Was too lazy to go fire up my saw.) The base happens to fit snugly down into my window track. I used an insulating wrap for a 1/2" pipe, cut open lengthwise, and fitted it over the top of the panel. This keeps out the water, wind and bugs (since my window doesn't close squarely across the panel, and I wouldn't trust it would be waterproof even if it closed evenly.) It also will still allow me to open the window, not needing to silicon nor tape the junction. The plastic of the window-connectors isn't as thick as a wall, but it's better-made than the cheap accordion gap-fillers I've seen for window air conditioners.
Remote control: works fine, though of course the batteries that come with it didn't work. Neither did the twoto three-year-old batteries I tried first. Fortunately I had a newer pack on hand, and those worked. Don't lose the remote: it provides a couple functions that aren't on top of the unit, such as varying fan speeds.
Modes: 3 basic ones: fan only, dehumidifier only, and "cool" i.e. the air conditioner. If you put it on Auto, it depends on the temperature: below 68 degrees it's fan only. 68-73 degrees, it's fan only IF you'd previously had it on fan only, otherwise it dehumidifies. The dehumidify mode also puts out surprisingly cool air, and makes it much less muggy inside (deep South, remember). 74-79 degrees, it dehumidifies regardless of prior settings. And above that, it goes to air conditioning (which of course also removes water from the air.)
So I can see how people would complain about the fan never shutting off. For THAT, you need to use the timer. You can set the timer to turn the unit on, or to turn it off.
And for the four-million-dollar question: does it work? My workroom is about 13' by 25', and is completely open to the similarly-sized kitchen AND my even bigger living room. I have a powerful computer that puts out a lot of heat and needs to stay cool, and I get hot flashes, myself (I know, TMI.) But I'd only been using a window air conditioner, which by itself helped but wasn't enough on the really hot, humid days here. It still got to 90-95 degrees inside if it went over 100 outside. I need my computer not to fry. So now, my computer and work table are right in front of both air conditioners, and together, they provide excellent cooling both for my computer (I have software that monitors the quad-core temps)and me. I don't use my ceiling fans, so when I stand (I'm 5'7") I can feel the warmer air just above my head. And it's warmer the farther away you get from the sweet spot. But when you walk inside from the 98-degree sunshine, that huge space is noticeably cooler about 85 degrees when farthest from the coolers. That's certainly livable. And sitting at my work table, with them blowing right on me and providing cool air for my computer...I'm in heaven.
UPDATE: 6/12/2012 Still happy with it, though I've discovered that true Alabama humidity (which hadn't yet set in when I wrote the first review) yields about a gallon of water from the hose every 4-5 hours. Have been grateful MANY times for the 4-gallon overflow container mentioned above. Much of the time only need to put the unit on dehumidify, as the air still is so cool from it that it's helpful simply to have all that sweat-inducing water removed from the air. Remote control seems to go through batteries rather quickly, but then, my pack of "new" batteries is nearly two years old.
UPDATE 7/18/12 Okay, I've been using it 12-16 hours or more daily, now. Hasn't failed yet. On truly humid days it pulls out a gallon of water every 3-4 hours. I really like the ease of adjusting the louvers: one set to direct up/down, the second for left-right. Lets me easily choose whether to cool my monitor or me. Still often just run the dehumidifier, but turn on the cooler when it really starts to heat up. I'll try to remember to put one more update in at the end of summer. Toodles, all, and thanks for the nice comments! And no, I don't work for the company! :))

I purchased 2 of these a couple weeks ago. They were shipped very quickly. They were easy to set up. The units are small but nicely built. They cool very well and are very quite. The remotes are great and the features are better than larger units. My only complaint is the evaporation system really can't handle humid conditions very well. I started it up and within 2 hours the bucket full system went off and I had to empty the unit. After it did it again in the same amount of time,I ended up elevating the unit and puting a bucket behind it so I don't have to empty it as often. This is the only drawback from a fine little unit.Best Deals for Soleus Air KY-80 Portable Air Conditioner/Dehumidifier/Fan

I bought this humidifier at Bed, Bath & Beyond a little over a week ago. When I set it up I ran into some of the same problems reported here--no warm mist produced at the Warm setting, difficulty getting the water tank off the body, and a hassle to fill the long water tank that doesn't fit under the faucet in any normal sink.
I went back to BB&B today to see what other humidifiers they carry so I could make an exchange. I happened to encounter the store person in charge of the heater/humidifier/fan department. I told him the problems I was having with that model. He was honest enough to tell me that just in the last few days they had gotten an email from Homedics that this humidifier is being recalled from the market precisely because of these problems. BB&B has removed this item from its shelves, and he told me that they would be happy to take back mine.
So be aware: This humidifier has been recalled by the manufacturer. Don't buy it.
Why did I return two of these units? One word NOISE. On the first use the first unit seemed louder to me than the one in the store (I purchased the unit at Bed Bath and Beyond). After a few days of use, it got noisier. The sound it made sounded like an impeller or fan had a bad bearing. It was not super loud, but was loud enough to be unusable at night when trying to sleep. Thought maybe it was a defective unit, so exchanged it for another like unit. The second unit was quiet at first, but within two days the same noise started to develop again. So I exchanged it for a similar priced Germ Gaurdian model. Haven't used that one enough yet to make a recommendation, but out of the box it was significantly quieter than the Homedics unit ever was. It really has been whisper quiet so far.
It could be that both units came from a bad batch that was delivered to the store, but I was really disappointed with the noise level for a somewhat expensive ultrasonic unit. The other two reviews both say the unit is very quiet, so this may be the case. I will say it was quieter than my old Vicks humidifier. That thing sounded like a leaf blower!
UPDATED TO ADD i ended up returning this after it started leaking all over the rug in my bedroom. I had it less than a month. I originally gave it 5 staRS, obviously now it gets about 1.
First this one has a great design. You wouldn't be embarrassed to have this one sitting in the middle of your living room. It is large, but as someone else said, it is tall, but not wide. And because you can have rotating spray or direct it, you can stick it in almost any corner without worrying about the walls. The container holds enough water for at least a couple of days. There is no big filter -there is a small demineralization filter -and I love that you have a warm and cold steam option. The other great thing is that the tank is easy to pull off, fill and place back on without holding this weird, huge jug and trying to set it on correctly (which also is a concern when you live in a small space and worry about bumping into it -or have a small kid. My daughter doesn't push the buttons and just plays with the mist).
The other great thing is that this is SUPER easy to move. The hole in the center makes a great handle -Which after 5 humidifiers without an easy grip/handle is truly amazing. This is expensive, but then I think about the money I have spent to buy 5 or so "cheap" humidifiers, this one doesn't seem too bad (especially assuming that it lasts.
Pros:
Oscillation is great, it spreads the moisture out around the room.
Puts out a good deal of moisture in a large room
Looks pretty
Its tall so it works fine on the floor, doesn't need to be put on a table or anything, but I think it works a little better on one.
Cons:
As an engineer the first thing I noticed and complained about is that it is designed for form over function. The water tank looks good on the unit, but its horrible shape makes it difficult to fill, difficult to handle when wet, and has sharp edges that make me afraid to accidentally drop it and slice my foot open.
The spring in the valve is not made out of a non-corrosive material. It started to rust after only a month. I doubt it will last more than a year.
The "warm" mist is barely room temperature. It really isn't warm at all. 3 inches from the outlet the mist is room temperature, more than 10 inches from the outlet the mist feels cool.
There are a couple parts in the base that if they aren't pushed together snugly, it will leak. Only happened to me once and leaked about 1/2 cup of water total overnight.
I generally put function over form, and therefore would not purchase this product if I had to do it over again. If you want one that looks good and works pretty well, go for it.

First off I want to say that I did like the design of this unit. It was an interesting shape which did look cool on my dresser. I liked the fact that it was tall, so that the mist was released higher into the room. The oscillating nozzle at the top was great for dispersing the mist throughout the room. It also produced a good amount of mist at the highest setting. Why did I return two of these units? One word NOISE. just got this humidifier and IT ROCKS!! its pretty big, but i found a great spot for it. and the size is height, not floor space, so its easy to find a spot. its also VERY quiet, unlike other humidifiers ive used. the warm mist setting is warm, not like an extra heater, which is perfect. also, the light is there but not GLOWING like an unwanted nightlight (i like to sleep in the darkest dark and it doesn;t bother me) highly recommended and well worth the money esp if you cant handle the nasty dry heater air! MY SINUSES THANKED MEUPDATED TO ADD i ended up returning this after it started leaking all over the rug in my bedroom. I had it less than a month. Honest reviews on Homedics Hum-wm75 Cool/warm Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier
I've only had this for a few days, so I can't speak to how durable it is. BUT...I really love this humidifier. I've had a ton of different machines over the years, and let's be honest, they all sort of suck. They take up a chunk of floor space, they are awkward to pick up, the filter/machine gets totally nasty after a while, and you have to refill them every day.First this one has a great design. I've had this humidifier for a couple months and I like it ok but it definitely has some major design flaws.Pros:

Vista 805 Humidifier Filter Review
Great filter for the price. Works as advertized and lasts for the humidification season which is approximately 6 months by me. Thank you for the Bemis Wick replacement filter, your servive was exactly as promised and price was fair, not the lowest price, but in my opinion, the most reliable supplier.

Price very competitive and delivered within 2-3 days. Product itself is great. I have used for over 12 months and cigars remained fresh in my humidor with over 70+ cigars.Best Deals for Cigar Oasis Ultra Refill Cartridge
These work as they are supposed to but the whole system isn't that great. I've had it for 2 years now and they dry out quickly. Sometimes every two weeks and the humidity isn't bad hereHonest reviews on Cigar Oasis Ultra Refill Cartridge
You can reuse this item only a few times before it stops holding enough distilled H2O to work properly. A necessary evil!Sunday, March 16, 2014

Second one I have bought since the first one was very good also. Not much I can say but this is a nice product for the money. Make sure you are using distilled water to top these off or they wont last as long. I get about a year per cartridge before the foam refuses to hold water anymore.Best Deals for Cigar Oasis XL Replacement Water Cartridge
EXACTLY, what I needed, got here fast & now my cigars are back to its proper temp! Now, my "problem" is I must buy more Stogies!Honest reviews on Cigar Oasis XL Replacement Water Cartridge
It works just fine as advertised and keeps your humidor at the range you set. I am too lazy to check on it everyday and I just listen to the motor on the Oasis to see how often it turns on. You insert this and it's good for a few carefree months. Easiest thing to do, compared to those gels and humidifiers that constantly need minding and refilling.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Cigar Oasis XL Replacement Water Cartridge
This was a great refill cartridge. Without topping off with any distilled water, it lasted me within one week of exactly 6 months (72% humidity, 100 cigar humidor). I'm off to grab some distilled water now to see if I can make it last another 6 months before I replace it! The refill is definitely a different color, and for some reason my Oasis isn't telling me that it's low on water (though it never has, so I don't think that is the fault of the cartridge), but it works great none the less!Wednesday, February 12, 2014
Stylish Burl Vented Cigar Humidifier Review
We're using this humidifier in our guitar cabinet rather than for cigars. The space is tight and being able to mount it on the side out of the way is what drew me to this particular model. It can't handle the 10 CF volume by itself so we added a small Cigar Oasis unit with a fan and I've ordered a couple more of these, which I think will get us where we need to be.
