This is what every person new to cigar smoking should start with and even those like myself who have mostly just bought fresh cigars every few days from a local shop over the years. The ashtray, carrying case and cutter alone would run you about the same price as the entire kit at a cigar shop so you can see the outstanding value of this kit. The box closes tight and has a good seal. You will have to or should calibrate the hygrometer. Mine was about 5 deg. off and that is very important if you're serious about preserving or aging your prized cigars.

My only two negative issues with this kit, although minor due to the cost were:

1. The stickers for attaching the humidifier and the hygrometer are very small and do not stick very well to the lid of the box and kept falling off so now they sit loose to one side on the bottom. Not a big problem for me as I don't keep the case full to capacity but for those who need the space it would be a big problem.

2. I tried to contact customer service for Cheap Humidors (the merchant selling this kit) about this to see if they had better stickers for attaching these items and my emails were never replied to. Their customer service by phone is an answering machine and you won't get any assistance that way either.

Overall though, I still recommend it until a person becomes a long term cigar smoker and/or gets more serious about their cigars.

Still no reply from Cheap Humidors's customer service but I'm sure they're getting right on it (SARCASM). Fortunately mine wasn't a major problem but just be advised before buying from this merchant if you ever do have a serious problem you will not get any assistance.

Still no reply from Cheap Humidors's customer service 12 months later. Should I quit holding my breath?

I bought this gift for my girlfriend's bother-in-law for Christmas. It is perfect for someone who is getting into cigars, it's nothing fancy but it provides to basics for storing and smoking cigars. He loves it and uses everything that came in the starter kit. Also his wife is not too happy with me for getting him the gift so it is win win... ;)

this is a great kit for cigar lovers. the hygrometer is not working as others mentioned, however. the travel case and cutter are really great value for this kit. it works great for me so that i don't have to store cigars in "zip-lock" bags :)

If you're looking for something to start a cigar collection then this is a great value! Good quality for the price and it comes with great accessories, like a cigar cutter, a leather travelling case (not sealed, meant for quick travel) and a nice wooden ash tray for three cigars. I bought it this christmas for my brother, who has just started to get into cigars. Someone I know, who collects cigars and owns a larger humidor, looked over it for me to make sure it wasn't a piece of crap. He said that as long as the humidor is seasoned properly (do your research) it is a great item for the beginning collector. He did say that if someone who would be using it wanted to save their cigars longer than a couple of months, this product isn't the most ideal. The seals are decent, but not for very long term storage. Overall, the best value I found for the casual cigar smoker!

Humidor: Works great, seals tight when closed, has a wooden separator incase you like to sort your cigars by brand or whatnot. Fits Churchill size cigars (quite long, usually around 7") with no problem.

Ashtray: Small, but elegant looking and easy to wipe down when needed.

Humidifier: Does a fine job keeping humidity levels right around 70. This one actually did better than the famed HumidiPaks that everyone praises. Can't go wrong with either one I guess.

Hygrometer: HORRIBLE. ATROCIOUS. I can't express enough just how bad this thing is. You're better off investing 10 or 15 bucks on another one.

Double-blad cutter: I've only cut about 20 cigars or so with it, but it's still razor sharp, does a nice job getting through even the thickest cigars without any hangups. Might be a little "dinky" feeling (yeah, I just don't know how else to describe it, haha), but rest assured it cuts a very straight cut.

Travel case: Wouldn't be fair for me to give a review on the case as I don't ever travel with mine haven't used it. We'll just assume it's of the same quality the rest of the package is, minus that awful hygrometer.

In summary, GET IT. Can't beat it for the price. And pick up a third party hygrometer.

I have no complaints about this filter. I've had a few like it over the years, and this is my favorite. The large size means it cleans better.

I live on the third floor of my apartment building, so I contend with black mold, lead paint, and likely asbestos. I also have ash trees outside my window, that destroy me for about a month a year. I bought the filter at the peak of my allergies and it does a good job. I keep it in my bedroom and have it constantly running at the medium setting. I keep the UV light off because I worry about it damaging my cat's eyes. Since I got the filter, I sleep ten times better because I can breath.

It blows my old filter, a Hamilton Beach "Tru-Air" out of the water. It's worth it to get the big version. My buddy has the small version and he says he wishes he bought the big one.

this vaporizer has two very small ports where the steams come out. The amount of steam is so small that does not do any good for the user. The section that heats the waters gets so hot we were afraid it may start a fire, so we boxed it up and threw it away. Not worth the price it would have cost to send it back.

I've had Aprilaire 700 in my current and last home, so over fifteen years. In the last couple of years this brand is the only one that was available from my local supply store, prior to that I've always paid more for an aprilaire brand. The april aire would last the entire humidification season for me, and sometimes 2 seasons when I wasn't so diligent about changing it. This brand however, lasts only half the season and then it collapses and bows toward the fan unit until it starts to be hit by the fan. The noise has alerted me to the issue and I've then changed the filter. However, just two weeks ago it started doing that 24 hours before I was leaving on vacation. I was able to shut the humidifier off and changed filer when I returned, but I dread the idea that it might have happened while I was gone. Who knows what damage might have been done to the unit. So, yes, it is inexpensive, it does its job, but it lacks the life of the name brand, and know you may need to buy two instead of one of the more expensive one. Me? I'm going back to AprilAire brand.

This humidifier water pad fits many Aprilaire (my home has the Aprilaire 760) and Honeywell home humidifiers. The product fits perfectly into the bracket with just a snap, and works as well as any other replacement pad at a very reasonable cost. When installing any of these types of pads use caution with the edges, as parts of them can be sharp and catch on clothing.

It's important to change the pad in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Doing so is quick and will help ensure the proper operation of your home humidifier for years.

This is a good product at a very good price. I recommend it.

Unfortunately, its not the same thickness nor as tall as the original April Aire for the Model 560. Spend a few dollars more and purchase the original. You can skip the return headache.

I purchased this replacement filter/wick for our humidifier this year and all I can say is, it doesn't work. First, the construction of the media is very open -which I thought meant that it would function better than our older wicks. Not so. These filters aren't strong enough to support the weight of the air funnel in the humidifier or their own weight -when wet. They also don't wick enough water up into themselves to humidify the air. I ran our humidifier on high for eight hours last night. The humidity level in the house was 20% and the humidifier consumed about two quarts of water. Using our old wicks, the humidifier reservoir would have been almost empty. I'm looking online now trying to find our old wicks.

My advise is although these are initially cheaper they are more expensive in the long run. When I first looked at them I thought they would be a much better design due to the very open material weave. They look like a big honey comb. However, they worked very poorly. The original Kenmore filters would last 1/2 of the winter season before changing. These only functioned for about a week and poorly at that. They do not wick the water well and seem to get clogged very fast. The performance at the end of a week was about the same as the Kenmore filters after a couple of months. After getting wet these are almost impossible to replace without having them fall apart. Poor design & poor performance. Stick with the original or at least something similar.

I will agree with previous comments that the filter has less capacity to wick water up. Our humidifier is not faced with the problem of the "air cone" depressing the filter as it sits on supports that allow the area of the filter itself to remain in it's original shape. The problem is it just doesn't wick up enough water. Don't know what I had before for filters but they were a less 'open'....not so 'holey'...I think they were a folded pleat that was denser, not so openly honeycomb appearing, and they would remain wet enough to allow the humidity to remain at a comfortable level. These filters, even tho they are sitting in an inch of water, are dry to the touch on the upper two thirds of its exposed area. We have a 2 1/2 gallon tank on our Emerson two filter humidifier. With the old filters on dry cold winter days it would need to be filled every 12 hours but it kept the humidity at 50%. With this 'new' type of filter it takes over 24 hours to empty the tank.... meanwhile the humidity drops into the uncomfortable 30's. What to do? I bought six sets (a case) of these filters and find them not up to the task. What can you do to the water to make it more 'wickable' to these filters? I tried a few drops of liquid soap (to decrease the surface tension) but that was not satisfactory.

OK these aren't as thick as the old models, but they work and fit fine, and I received my order the next day. I wasn't able to find the older, thicker filters anywhere, and I've been looking for two years!

i unwrapped the heater, made sure it was on 0 as per instructions, started to put the plug in and there was a loud POP!, burning smell, part of the metal part of the plug melted and it was blackened. didn't even get the plug in more than a centimeter. wasn't the socket, b/c that still worked (for my air conditioner--a dedicated outlet) right after. am sending it right back! it really should be given zero stars.

It was a little smaller than what I had anticipated, but it is perfect for my small bathroom. I don't have ventilation in the bathroom, and this heater dries out the humidity in it.
