We went through several humidifiers in such a short time before finding this one. This is a durable machine and has worked well for us for almost 2 years (we use it EVERY night). But the "noise" is my favorite part because it doubles as a white noise for my sleeping son!! The sound helps him stay asleep and blocks out noises during nap time!!!
