Replacement of Aprilaire 501 Spacegard 5000 Air Cleaner Filter Media

The Air Cleaner Replacement Element I ordered from Amazon was original equipment and I was able to install it myself in less than 30 minuites. I had to order two elements because of boxing and transportion problems but no big deal as I now have one media in reserve.

I admit I had done it before and had some trouble because I tried to install it without reading the instructions are on the box. They must be followed very very carefully. You must have very good lighting because the instructions on box are dim and the instructions on black plastic of Air Cleaner itself are difficult to see. Two things to watch out for: Step 4 removing pleat spacers. They snap into holes and do not twist as instructions say. Merely apply pressure upward and pull them out of snap-in holes. Second problem area is Step 8 where you have to unsnap the edges which hold the element. Aprilaire has a special Figure 4 drawing for this and you should look at it very carefully because it is critical. If you follow the instructions carefully you will have no problem installing the media. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL WITHOUT READING THE INSTRUCTIONS. The company that would normally install the element in my home charges $50 just to come to home plus $75 per hour for installation charge and full retail price for the replacement element. It is definately a lot cheaper and easier ordering the element from Amazon and doing the job yourself. It was also nice to have the media delivered to my doorstep rather than drive to the distributer in rush hour traffic and pay full retail price.

If you do the same remember to "read the instructions carefully" before attempting the replacement. If you try to replace the element without reading the instructions you will have trouble -I guarantee it.

I've been buying the 501 filter for years and have noticed a very consistent defect in the product the area along the pleat will often times have a slit varying in degree of length. It is often difficult to see this so I would encourage you to spread apart the length of each fold/pleat and look for daylight on the other side (see customer pic)....you'll be surprised by what you see. There are 2 sides to the filter the front side of the pleat where the air enters which is a completely white material, and the backside of the pleat which has a black strip along each pleat inspect both sides of the filter pleats.

On the conservative side I'll say that 8 out of 10 filters I've purchased from various sellers have been defective to some degree, some worse than others. This makes me wonder how closely the HVAC techs who install these products are inspecting the filters or if it's even considered...

Please keep in mind this is not a petty issue/review any opening in your furnace filter completely defeats the purpose of this filtration system, causes dust to collect in your hvac unit and ultimately spreads dirty/unfiltered air throughout your home... I've resorted to spending double the money to buy locally and inspect them in store to avoid the hassle of returns....the last 2 I purchased from this company were defective the company was very compliant in issuing two replacements, paying for return shipping etc...for that I give them credit and would recommend them as a seller. The Aprilaire 5000 came highly recommended however in this case the unit is only as good as its filter. Happy 2012!:)

This is my second time to purchase replacement filters for my Aprilaire 5000. I did purchase a 2 pack last time. I was thinking that this was a 2 pack as well (main picture is the same picture used in other sellers 2 pack ads). Though there was no place that said it was a 'Package of 2', There is NO PLACE that says the package only contains 1 FILTER.

Misleading at best, Dishonest at worst.

About the Filter: packaged well, shipped and arrived promptly.

Hope this helps others from making the same mistake I (and it appears a few others ) did.

You do not get what they show. You only get one filter even though they show two boxes in the picture.

I wasn't clear there was only one setting, powering on for short intermittent intervals only when triggered by the motion sensor. Thought there was going to be an "always on" setting for a longer duration usage.

Otherwise, nice unit for the price. Gorgeous packaging but the plastic of the apricot color a bit lower quality appearance than expected. Perhaps the silver would be a more high end look, but for the sale price at the time the apricot style was a good bargain.

Discount LN6030 Montgomery Wards Humidifier Filter Belt

this belt is made out of a synthetic material like polyester. the weave is kind of tight and not alot of air moves through it. the original belts made out of urethane had a much larger mesh and worked alot better than these do. they do at least get the humidifier back operating.

Discount Honeywell H14013 Replacement Filter for Eureka DCF-10

I had previously gotten a different brand replacement that worked ok. However, it did not have the extra nozzle on one end of the filter (which can be seen in the image on the top-side of the Honeywell filter). This make all the difference. My vacuum picks up much more dirt than it usually does. And thank goodness because I have to vacuum after my dirty dogs all the time.

I am very, very happy with this brand.

I've bought this filter a few times from Amazon and as always, this is a well-made filter that perfectly fits my Eureka Optima. I run air filters in our home, so I wasn't looking for HEPA filtration which would be found in the DCF-14. This is a DCF-10 replacement filter. My vacuum runs like new every time I put a new one of these in. Amazon often runs a buy 4-for-3 special on these, which brings the cost down to being less expensive than buying them anywhere else.

I had specific needs to meet for this purchase. I needed 1. A changing table since space is limited in the baby's room. 2. Storage for the supplies since, you guessed it space is limited in the baby's room. 3. Wheels I am not that big and I did not want to lug around a heavy, awkward cube around my house like I did 12 years a go with a cheap play pen someone bought me when I had my first child in my 20's. 4. Bassinet Since space is limited and we did not want to put up the big crib yet, we are using this as the baby's bed for now till he gets a little bigger and we are forced to use the big crib. 5. Newborn Napper is just a bonus. I didnt plan on using this, but I do set the baby in it while Im in the room putting clothes away and folding diapers, which take a while to fold and I dont want to take the changing table off to get to the bassinet.

I reviewed over 100 play pens / pack n plays / what ever they call them these days. I chose this one because some of the others I checked out the people said the changing table was wobbly or it tilted down into the unit and they were dissatisfied with that. (Well, I guess I would be too) This one was stated as not doing this because it is located on the end and not the side of the unit and it has more stability. That is the number 1 selling point for me! It is nice and does not. The storage is nice, not what I was expecting. Its a soft sided storage and the "shelves" are not really deep, so stuff falls out and it kind of sags down. I am 100% happy with the assembly. My 6 year old and I put it together in about an hour. We stuck to the step by step instructions, since we used it as a learning tool and she read and decided what we to do next with the words and pictures. If I would have been without her, I would have had it together in maybe 20 min!

I am most dissatisfied with the colors. They are nice and not ugly, but by looking at the picture, it APPEARS black and white with a "snowflake" type design. I thought it would match some of the other items we had. I read the description and it said dark grey, cream and taupe. I was hoping it was close to the grey and white, but it was not. Its still a nice pattern and color, but not EXACTLY what I was looking for.

OVERALL Not big issues that would prevent me from buying it again if I had to. The price was higher than some others, Im not sure why? But to stick to the NEEDS I had to meet this was the type of cash I had to spend.

This is a great product for me as I'm wanting my baby as close to me as possible through the night, but I don't have a lot of room for changing. I needed a little "station" of baby stuff all in one place. Other parents might not need that, but it's ideal for me.

It's basically like every other pack and play Graco makes, except this one doesn't have a vomit-inducing print that the baby won't ever understand anyway. It's a simple print that's sand and stone colored. It's the same model as the BRU Elefante(sp?) P&P, but again, not as vomit-inducing.

The newborn napper is highly recommended because it puts the baby at somewhat of an incline which is good if baby has digestion problems. It also has a 15 lb limit weight capacity, as does the bassinet.

I got it right away, put it together myself in 40 minutes (38 weeks pregnant) and it's reasonably light and has wheels. What more could you want?

great combo of bassinet, crib, and changing table. This is a great solution for those living in small spaces.

love the newborn napper. Although it is impossible to assemble and remove. If you attach it once (with difficulty), and plan on using it for long term use as I did, you will only have to take it off one more time. Then this is great for you. If you plan on attaching and detaching the newborn napper multiple times, look at a different product.

Awesome changing table. I still use it for my eight month old.

love the design. It's gender neutral, and simple. Can use sheets and blankets to play up for baby girl or boy.

love that you can move it around on wheels.

the side compartment is USELESS. It is completely flimsy. Do not plan on storing anything in it, other than maybe a few diapers. I removed mine after the first couple days and have never reattached it.

Graco makes several other products that cost much less, but do not include the side compartment. I decided on this one because of the side compartment. Thus, if I could go back in time, I would buy a different, cheaper product, since the side compartment was completely useless.

Our infant has LOVED the napper ever since we brought him home. It is very soft and sturdy and cradles him right in place for hours! The changing table is also sturdy and has a soft pad for the baby to lay on. The unit folds up nicely if needed but the napper and changing table do not fold out of the way of the play yard underneath, but it does create room for storage until you take them off. The storage this offers is worth the price alone!

I was so excited for this pack n play, but was soon disappointed. The other reviews made it seem like it was the perfect system. The pack n play itself is greatlight, has wheels, gender neutral colors, but everything else (the additions) had issues. The music-mp3 player sucked. It didn't have a volume control and it played so softly that I couldn't even hear it. I just removed it. The vibration piece ran out of battery quickly and had to be replace too often. The napper is nice and soft, super comfy for the baby, but it is extremely hard to remove and replace. I was hoping for a napper like their other products where you can remove, or even better can stand alone. My baby had reflux, so once it got dirty, hard to get out and clean. The changing table was slanted, and when the baby was a newborn, he kept sliding down to the side. It didn't seem like the fabric was completely made properly to fit the changing table too, as the corners kept on being exposed. The storagesuper super flimsy. It only held it's shape if full with stuff, but if you used anything from its shelves, the items would fall out and shelves would sag. Very useless storage! For nearly $200, this was definitely one big disappointment. I would have thought the whole system be better quality, the additions would actually be more well thought out and useful. I could have purchased a way cheaper pack n play that would have been comparable with what actually was functional with this one.

We purchased our humidifier from Target. When we went to the Bionaire website we could not find our model and became alarmed. Then we saw it on the Amazon website and our fears were put to rest.

We have forced air heat. Every night we would wake up coughing and thirsty. Since we started using the humidifier we can now sleep through the night without dry mouth. It is extremely quite too!

This was a gift, visited Amazon to see if anyone else had a negative opinion. Although the instructions indicate that the unit should be placed on a waterproof/water resistant surface, I figured that this was to protect against the water vapors. But as another has mentioned here, it leaked water out of the back. A substantial amount of water, I woke up to find water all over the floor.

Had a Holmes humidifer for a long time but last winter, we left the last filter on too long and it started to smell. Threw it away and bought this one at Costco. Seen Bionaire advertised around in Bed, Bath & Beyond and Target so thought it would be decent.

Big mistake!

The humidifier looks cool and is easy to operate but 3 times now, it has leaked all over our floor. We put a towel under it to absorb the water but looking to buy a new one.

I bought my humidifier last year and came online today to see if it was available for a friend who needs one. I was stunned that the product had such a low rating since I think it's wonderful. It provides humidity in my bedroom, keeps me from waking up every day with a stuffy nose, and gives off the most soothing "white noise" from its fan, something that actually helps me to sleep well. What are the complaints about? A leaky tank? I haven't seen a drop of water come out of my unit onto the carpet.

I bought this humidifier at Target and ended up returning it because it leaked. An extremely large amount of water leaked out of the back of the humidifier and all over the floor. By the time I discovered this, the wood floor boards in my bedroom were warpedso I essentially ended up with water damage in my house because of this humidifier. It does have a rather loud fan too. This was one quality I was actually looking for because the white noise helps me sleep, so I was disappointed that it didn't work out.
