It works as expected. In the 1st 6 hours it removed over 1 gallon of water from the air and reduced the humidity 15%. It does put out some heat but that is to be expected of all dehumidifiers that do not have an outside air ventilation system.

My house has condensation issues on the inside, so i got this to lower the humidity. Fixed the problem. But it is louder than the clothes drier and squeeks a terrible racket for a brand new appliance. It cycles on and off to keep the pump from not over heating or something I guess but it still will not get the humidity below 50% I have a fairly small house.

After owning it about a month, I am quite impressed with this unit.

It is relatively quiet -especially on low fan speed-and it will really pull the moisture from the air.

I like the top display that shows the ambient room temp as well as the humidity percentage. The device can be adjusted to a wide range of target humidity levels.

It also features the ability to resume its duties automatically following a power outage. Other units must be restarted manually. That is a great feature for us as our electricity can "blink" off a couple of times a month.

I can highly recommend this unit.

I owned a previous model from Danby. Used it for just under 3 years seasonally. It stopped condensing moisture. Still looks new otherwise. This newer model has an improved design for hose connection. It comes with a long hose. Nice. So far, works fine. 2 year warranty comes with it. Hopefully, it will last long. It's noisy. I guess most of them are noisy.

Granted, I have only had this unit for one day but I wish to post some observations. First off, the 1st unit was doa. Amazon shipped me another overnight at no extra cost to me. Kudos to Amazon. This is replacing a 5 year old unit that was recently recalled.

I had a hard time finding how energy efficient this unit was. I couldn't even find out how many watts it used. Even the Danby site doesn't mention this. Oh, and I went to energystar.gov to try and find it, but haha, it is closed due to the government shutdown. Sure you can get to the main page of it, but all lists and details are not available. Only a front or main page. Ridiculous.

So I grabbed my trusty Killawatt to measure it. With the fan speed on low it uses 276 watts. It was also drawing 2.59 amps and after 4 hours it used 1.07 kwh. Where I live that cost me around 8 cents, or 2 cents an hour, or a half a buck per day. VERY energy efficient.

It comes with its own 4' hose in order to use continuous drain. It also has two fan speeds, high and low. It is small and light and come with caster wheels for the bottom of it,which are easy to install, if needed. It also is a tad noisy, not loud mind you, but noisy. It also works very well. Took my humidity level from 71% to 59% in four hours. It has an easily accessible filter that can be vacuumed and washed off. It is recommended that the unit be 8" from the back wall in order to dissipate heat. I use this in my 500 sq ft (3700 cu ft) unfinished basement and didn't notice any heat from the unit, in fact the temperature dropped from 64 degrees to 60 during my initial 4 hour power test.

I will update this in the future if anything changes but so far I am very pleased. I would highly recommend it.

UPDATE #1. Once the unit reaches its adjustable humidity level the compressor goes off and the fan stays on. When this happens the amp draw is .3, or 32 watts being used.
