I agree with the other posts that this is a good product in an amazingly BAD bottle. It's true that you can't really pour from this bottle without a lot of dripping, plus it's impossible to pour a precise amount.

However, I came up with a great solution that I'd like to share. I used an empty bottle of ACT mouthwash-some of the ACT varieties (not all) use a built-in dispenser that has a straw that extends down to the bottom of the bottle. When you squeeze the plastic bottle, mouthwash fills a small cup that's built-in at the top of the bottle, just where the cap screws in. It is easy to pull out this contraption with pliers, and then fill the empty mouthwash bottle with the humidifier solution.

Then, when you want to add the solution to thew water container, simply squeeze the mouthwash bottle and fill the little built-in cup about half or two-thirds, then easily pour it into the water container. Voila! No muss, no fuss.

I am delighted with my clever solution, and suspect you will be too!

Now for the second year, I use this product exclusively. From October through March, my humidifer gets a workout, being used at least every night in the bedroom. This product keeps the humidifer clean, smelling good, and appears to exdend the filter wick life. I have had no sinus infections for the second year in a row and used to have them on a regular basis. Of course, I have nothing scientific to prove its the ant-bacteria treatment, but that's the only thing different I am doing as far as air quality treatment in the bedroom.

The treatment works extremely well. After a horrible experience using our humidifier with no treatment, it works very well now. No more odor from the filters. Note that we did install new filters when we began using the treatment. We did not feel the existing filters could be salvaged. Regarding what others mentioned, the bottle is a terrible design.

For a product label that warns of irreversible skin or eye damage you'd think the design would be drip-proof it is not. Pour carefully and have a cloth/paper towel handy to absorb drips from the spout. Also, I strongly suggest that you add the treatment after filling the humidifier/bottle...then stir or shake. if you add the treatment first, it'll foam quickly and you'll end up with a lot of suds.

We give the product itself 5 stars. We would give Amazon zero stars if we could.

I ordered what was supposed to be a 12-bottle case of Essick 1970 treatment product through Amazon. The ad clearly says a "case of 12" weighing 27.6 lbs. We received only one bottle.

We called Amazon about it. The Amazon rep was surprised when he checked the product description and confirmed that it was for "one case" of product, not a single bottle. Amazon gave us a run around suggesting that it was the fault of their supplier even though Amazon is clearly listed as the company responsible for fulfillment.

We spoke to Deerso and Geroy (the retailers who sell the treatment through Amazon). Neither of them are responsible for the text in the product description, nor are they responsible for shipping the product out. They are not involved with any of it. They provide the products to Amazon. From that point forward Amazon warehouses the product and ships it out.

It is now December 23rd. Amazon has been aware of the issue for some time now. Amazon still incorrectly lists the product as "a case of 12". You will not receive a case of 12. You will receive one bottle. And when you call to bring it to Amazon's attention you will receive an insincere apology and an offer for a refund. They will not honor the product description, nor fix it to reflect reality.

Honest reviews on Essick Air Products 1970 Bacteria Treatment

Before I get started, this works. It cleared up the red slime in both of my humidifiers in less than one tank filling. Now, that said, this stuff sounds like a major health hazard. It clearly states that eye protection, gloves and protective gear be worn. The active ingredients are dimethyl benzyl ammonium chlorides 1.125% and ethylbenzyl ammonium chlorides 1.125%. Has a nice big section of the label that is a precautionary statement on how this is a hazard to humans and domestic animals. Corrosive, causes irreversible eye damage and skin burns. Wear protective eyewear, protective clothing and rubber gloves. Wash hands throughly after using and before doing anything else. Again, it works. But I have to wonder if putting this into a device that atomizes it and puts it into the air... is safe. Also, the bottle I got does not look like the picture. It looks like a big blue bottle of Maalox.
