Having purchased no less than 7 different humidifiers over a two-year period (Hunter, Essick, Bionaire, 2 Holmes units, a GermGuardian and a Honeywell) and finding none of them to be satisfactory (noisy, hazy, stinky, clunky), I was wary at first about the performance claims and other positive reviews of the Stadler Oskar. However, I am pleased to say that my expectations were surpassed. It is quieter than most of the other humidifiers I have owned(evaporative or non-evaporative), and I found it both easy to maintain and effective at humidifying the small to medium-sized rooms in my apartment. The fill capacity is somewhat of a misnomer, but in a positive way-once the water begins to seep into the two membranes, I found that I could add even more water than the listed capacity. So once the unit is filled and running for a bit, it's not too difficult to maintain a certain level of humidity without shutting down the unit. I cannot say the same for many other humidifiers. Finally, the unit is styled such that a person who was not looking for a humidifier in the corner of your room would find it difficult to notice (I get alot of "what's that cool cube thing" comments from visitors). I wish the price had been a little lower, but it seems that you do get what you pay for with this product: a stylish, energy-efficient, simple and effective humidifier.

Very well engineered unit. Unlike many others, the base of the unit holds the water (no tank on top). The upper part holds all the electronics, fan and power. This allows the base to be completely leak proof...no seals, gaskets or anything else to go wrong with time. You can add water without taking it apart through a door on the side; or you can lift the top off and carry the whole base to a faucet. Very quiet motor too. I just bought it, so can't say what the long term reliability is. Designed in Switzerland, but built in China...however seems like good quality. Wife loves it because of its elegant design, and that it hides the water from view (thus looking cleaner).

I purchased the Oskar humidifier a few days ago. It is fairly small and unobtrusive, stylish and very quiet (even on the high speed setting). I run it constantly and my room stays at 50% humidity level vs a 30% humidity level without a humidifier. The humidifier happens to work great for my needs, but I should note that it is not strong enough to get the humidity level in my room above 50% whereas the Honeywell antibacterial humidifier I have can get it up to 60%. I prefer 50% any way so I'm not complaining.
It's also worth noting that productswithstyle.com was great. They shipped my humidifier the first business day after I ordered. The VP of ops even emailed me to say that they'd ship it ground from a distribution center nearby and I'd get receive it the next day... and then refunded me the difference between next day shipping and ground. I really appreciate the great customer service!

I've now had this humidifier through two winter seasons, and am very pleased. The styling is simple and unobtrusive, making it easy to place. Other designs often look like space age toys, crying, "look at me." I particularly like that water can be added to the Stadler without shutting it down. As has been pointed out, the hygrometer control is not very accurate, but I've found this to be the case with 3 other brands that I own and use, all more expensive ultrasonic versions. I expect it is a challenge to design a device that produces water vapor while also controlling output based based on a hygrometer within the same device. The problem is the close proximity of measurement and vapor production, where natural convection currents cause a widely varying humidity near the humidifier. Trial and error is required to find the right humidity setting. In most cases, including mine, during colder winter months the humidifier runs constantly due the low relative humidity of winter air, and the space being a little too large for the device. I store the humidifiers during the summer, when local humidity is confortable for me.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program It does put moisture in the air but I know the 2 filters in it are not going to last very long because I had similar filters in a different humidifier and they lasted only a couple months before they become mineralized and won't work any more, the filters are not cheap either. This thing is very small too and is more for like a bedroom than a living room or any larger room. It does look nice being a small black cube but I won't be buying another. I wish they would come out with a humidifier that doesn't use the paper like filters, the drum type lasted for a long time but they don't make them any more, what a shame, but I guess they want to sell filters to get more money.
