Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Okay, so it not THAT loud. It still does not meet its intended needs in my house. I planned on putting this small unit in my mother-in-law's bedroom that she is using while she undergoes chemo treatments. Unfortunately, she is unable to rest and get sleep when the unit is turned on. It is just too loud. She often needs to sleep off and on all day, so it just doesn't work for us.

Two positives, it was easy to just take out of the box and get it set up, and it sits nicely on a dresser or table top.

If the noise doesn't bother you, I bet you would love it. I have been very happy with my larger Black & Decker purifier that I have in my living room. They work fantastically.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I set this air cleaner up in a badroom that's probably larger than intended for it (the description says "ideal for small rooms"), and in which the primary pollutant is a superabundance of pug fur. But even there, a quick check of the filter shows that this little machine has been cleaning the air and, thus, making breathing a little easier for person and pug alike. We don't smoke or have a problem with pollen in the house, so you can't always tell what difference something like this is making. But even when unclean air isn't a big issue, a handy filter system like this does seem to make a difference.

Basic Specs

8" width, 9 1/2" length, 4" height

HEPA / Carbon filter to clean the air and remove odors and allergens.

Setup

Remove the air filter from the unit by lifting the top cover, cutting open the bag, and reinstalling the filter with the pleated side down. The instructions say not to use an extension cord with this device but I really see no reason why it wouldn't be safe to. The unit is meant for use in small to medium sized rooms.

Grill

The front grill looks like the type on a car, or an air conditioner, with several air foils and what appears to be a leaver in the middle to adjust air flow. The reality of it is that it's just one piece of plastic molded to look this way.

Basic Operation

You can not adjust the air flow any other way than what I estimate to be a 45 degree angle up.

It helps circulate the air in the room so it won't grow stale and stagnant.

It works by a dual layer filter which makes it easy to clean the top layer off of thicker dust particles and prolong the filters life.

Three fan speeds & Sound Levels

Position (1) is very slow & provides virtually silent operation at 53 decibels.

Position (2) is only slightly faster & is also very quiet at 58 decibels.

Position (3) provides significantly more air flow (as much as a fan on a low setting w/added bonus of the air in your face being filtered/clean air), as well sounding much more noisy like a small air conditioner on low at 68 decibels.

Odor Test

Used in a very small bathroom (6' X 8' including bath/shower combo stall) which had a strong scent of lotions/shampoos even with the door open (normally kept open) I tested it for 2 hours on the highest setting. After opening the door, the smell of lotions/shampoo was almost overpowering. Realizing this is an unfair result, I left the door open for 3 minutes & the smell lessened about 30-40% less to what it was initially when it first smelled the room. Upon inspecting the filter, it showed no dust, but there was toilet paper dust surrounding the back filter slots.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have been using this table top air cleaner in my office next to my computer...where I smoke. I only smoke in my office and have tried a few different air cleaners and honestly this has worked the best for this purpose. Kind of an expensive smokeless ashtray. My office is pretty small, just 10x10 and I keep the unit on my desk, but it does work. The room smells much better and I notice much less dust too. It's pricey for the size, this would never work in a larger room, but I didn't expect it to. Some people have commented on the noise, but I didn't find it that loud and after a few minutes I don't even hear it. I usually use it on the low setting, sometimes medium and it isn't all the different than having a small fan going. Again, it's pricey at $69.99 for what I am using it for, I think the price point should be closer to $50 personally and if it was I would have bumped my rating to 4 stars as long as you understand it's size limitations. I am pleased with how it works for me though and will continue using it.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Works well; about a 4 1/2 star. He likes it a lot. Air seems fresher. Small fan with small filter (approx 6 1/2 x 4"). Essentally a fan with a HEPA filter. The unit is approximately 8 1/2 x 10" in size, with 5" in height. Son is a smoker and has been using it for about 2 months in his 13 x 11' with 8' ceiling room and it has absorbed a lot of the tar from his cigarette smoke, which you can see when you examine the filter. It works somewhat similar to the fan in your car. Has three settings to determine how hard you want you fan to blow. Nice unit.
