I needed a dehumidifier for my asthma. Humidity combined with a basement apartment and I was a wreck.

I'm an obssessive researcher, so I reserched dehumidifiers for days. I decided on this one because of the great allergy/asthma ratings, customer and consumer reviews, functions and energy requirements. Even though I have only had it for about a month now, I can definately say that it is great. It brought the humidity level in my 2000 sq ft apartment from 73% to 45% in about 4hrs and has kept it there. I have small temp/humidity monitors located around my apartment to make sure that the dehumidifier is really keeping up the pace. It is and it is very quiet! The only down side is the heat that it gives off. I know that dehumidifiers do give off heat but I didn't realize that I was going to have rearange some furniture in order to keep it far enough away from my bed, couch and desk to be comfortable temerature wise. However, for the price and given the quality, a little rearanging is no big deal.

One tip though...I saved myself about $20 by buying my dehumidifier from Allergy Be Gone through Amazon.com. Don't do the same thing. First they lost the order, then they just didn't ship it, then when Amazon.com looked into it they had no record of shipment and finally with a little more pushing from Amazon they shipped it. The box showed up dented and had holes in it. After 16 days of waiting, I had to return it for a new one because of the packaging. Spend the extra $20 and buy it from a quality site. Buy it from Amazon.com.

This is a nice dehumidifier. It is smaller than I had anticipated, which is a good thing because it does not take up too much room. It has a built in thermometer, and also tells you the humidity level of the room. It is pretty quiet, although I only use mine in the garage here in Florida. Has done an excellent job keeping down the humidity. You can set it on it's timer to tun for XX hours, or just let it run until it is full and shuts off automatically until you empty it. Then, when you put the water container back in, it resumes operation on it's own. Water jug slides right in and out of the front of the unit, and has a sturdy carrying handle built in. It comes with an optional hose attachment so it can run continuously without needing to be emptied, assuming you have somewhere for it to drain into. The hose just screws onto the bottom corner of the water container. The small caster wheels make it easy to moves around. I am extremely happy with this product, and purchased the optional extended 3 year warranty for only $24.99. Hope this review helps someone out deciding which dehumidifier to purchase.

We ran this in our bedroom that was smelling musty & wet, and I gotta say this thing really sucks the moisture right out of the air! The water bucket was half full after running it for 8 hours, and it lowered the humidity level in our bedroom 10 points in at time. Very efficient machine!

Honest reviews on Danby Premiere DDR30E 30 Pint Dehumidifier - Euro Grey

We live in an older home that has poor insulation and as a result, we were having a problem with moisture and mold. The walls, floors and windows would accumulate moisture and then mold would start, it was nasty. I'd even lift up my dog's bed off the floor and the bottom would be wet. My husband was having problems with his sinuses. We kept using a mold product Mold Armor FG502 Instant Mold and Mildew Stain Remover, 32-Ounce to combat it and that cleaned the mold well, but we wanted to fix the problem. So I started looking at dehumidifiers and I relentlessly researched them and based on that decided on the Danby Premiere 30 pint. Great decision! It has changed our whole living situation, no exaggeration. The first night it pulled EIGHT CUPS! Could not believe it. We've had it a couple months now and do not have moisture or mold problems and my husband is not having sinus issues anymore. It did not make our energy bill go up, which is something I was worried it would. It tells you the humidity level and the temp in the room too and you can set it where you want the level to be (we set ours at 40%). It is pretty quiet too, we watch movies with it on and it does not disturb us. Well worth the money and has made a huge difference to us.

I ordered this from Amazon about 2 months ago. We have had problems with high humidity in our home for years. We live along the coast in southern California. Humidity level typically ranges from 55% to 70%. We have had some interior mold issues in our 2,000 square foot home.

It's a little on the noisy side. So, we have been running it in one bedroom during the time we are asleep (humidity will drop in that room to around 45%), and then turn on the heater in the morning to circulate the mix of humidified/de-humidified air.

It took about 5 weeks to get the humidity stabilized to a lower level. You can imagine every book, wood item (cabinet doors, furniture, floors, etc) carpet fiber and so on was used to being saturated to the higher humidity level. For the past 3 weeks, we have not needed to run the humidifier as often, and the humidity level has stabilized between around 45 55%. When it creeps up, we again run the humidifier at night, and then circulate in the morning. (NOTE: This has been a relatively dry winter in southern California, which I suspect has also helped reduce humidity).

This humidifier has really helped. I am sneezing about 1/10 as much as I used to. This humidifier has exceeded my expectations.
