I searched and researched for a cabinet cigar humidor for weeks. Finally pulled trigger and went with this one. This review is for the humidor itself, the Bolivar cabinet humidor, not the seller which I did not purchase it from.
The humdidor is an amazing piece of workmanship for the money. Took approximately 5 days to season it properly, but I do live in South Florida which makes it easier due to relative humidity during summer months. Dont wipe down interior of this unit with distilled water. Take your time and season correctly with shallow bowls of distilled water and humidification devices placed throughout until unit stablizes.
The unit is 3 ft high and comes with (6) "green sponge" passive humidification devices. I opted for a Cigar Oasis XL which has no problem keeping @ 70% once it was stablized. Green sponges went into storage just in case my power goes out for an extended perior of time.
The unit has a small port in rear to run wiring out of cabinet for an electric powered humidifier. That port is covered by a plastic "door" which slides down to cover the port to minimize loss of humidity. The cabinet is a beautiful cherry finish well built and quite heavy.
This piece really looks much more expensive that it is. I've received looks of "awe" from my buddies that have seen it personally. It is fully cedar lined and has enough room for me to keep between 12-16 closed boxes (various sizes) in the lower two shelves and loose sticks in the top shelf. Really a great capacity unit.
The handle, hinges and lock are not the cheap looking fake brass look which is so common in humidors. More of a satin finish like fine kitchen cabinets would have.
Comes with plenty of dividers for each shelve and two keys.
I got crazy and installed LED lights to illuminate each shelf. The LED's do not give off any heat and make the unit look amazing night or day.
Ok, Ive got one small complaint. Once illuminated by my internal LED's, the seal is not perfect on the front door about 3/4 of way up. Very slight gap where I can see light coming through and can hear Cigar Oasis running if I put my ear to it. I have yet to correct as this really does not affect humidity, but I will correct by either readjusting hinges or purchasing a thin adhesive gasket to place in that area to seal better. Very minor gap, not enough to break this great deal.
