We were using Humidifier Helper and were going through one of these filters every 2 weeks. Then we learned that the product actually shortens the life of the filters. Now, just left alone, our filters last 3 to 4 weeks, set on the highest setting. We order 5 at a time at this great price. We use a few drops of tea tree oil in the water instead of humidifier helper if an odor develops. It can buy us a few more days of use.

The product works, but is way over priced for what you get. We can't find a filter for our humidifier that's reasonably priced.

I agree with the other reviewers that these or any filters for these humidifiers which all depend on wicking water upward against gravity have a short lifespan and are too costly. Just an idea for anyone with some time, motivation, and knowhow, I was able to hook up a little fountain pump to a 1/4" perforated hose that I wrapped around the top of the filter. This keeps the filter soaking wet and the humidifier operating at maximum output for several months without replacement. The filters do eventually get clogged up with calcium deposits and need to be replaced but this has drastically reduced the cost of operation. A drawback is that I was not able to wire the pump to the humidifier's humidistat which means the pump must be plugged in separately and operate continuously while plugged in. I also recommend cleaning the humidifier regularly and using the cleanest possible water to extend filter life.

This replacement filter is flimsier than the Sears filters, which last a lot longer. It fell apart after about three months. The Sears filters, which cost about twice as much, can be cleaned. I vacuum them, and then soak them in the bathtub in white vinegar and water. I get another month or two out of the Sears filters that way. The replacement filters just fall apart. There's no way to clean them, they just melt.

I think the humidifier works great, but am very surprised that I had to replace the filter after just a couple weeks use. And it smelled really bad the day before I had to replace. Major flaw in design of this humidifier in my opinion. And at $17.99 a pop...ridiculous!
