I own a large humidor and had been struggling to maintain optimum humidity. I installed in it two large humidification devices made by Ashton. These devices were sold to me by my local cigar shop and were praised as the best on the market. The Ashton devices were costly and largely ineffective. So I began searching Amazon for a product to replace my unsuccessful Ashtons. I came across the Paradigm System PSH 3 and purchased it with much hesitation. When I first ordered one, there were very few reviews or information available online. In shear frustration I took a shot and bought one. When the PSH 3 arrived, I saturated it in distilled water as instructed and installed into my stocked humidor. Within ten days, my hydrometer gradually rose from 59% to 70%. The PSH 3 has maintained this humidity level for well over two months now. I have taken the unit out and inspected it and have found that it is completely free of mold (much to my surprise). I acknowledge that cigar maintenance is a tricky science and would recommend this product to anyone who seeks satisfactory humidity in their humidors.

All total I've probably spent $100 on different humidification products prior to buying the Paradigm System PSH3. I've tried sponge pucks, gel pucks, Heartfelt beads, and even just leaving in a washcloth or dish sponge dampened with distilled water (sitting on a plastic bag). After all the money I've spent, all the time re-seasoning my humidor, and all the wasted cigars that ended up drying out, I found this little gem.I'm 100% glad I did. It is a bit pricey, but it's been worth every penny!!!!
I bought this in Sept 2011, and I've only just recently had to tend to it. It's kept my humidor at 68-69% humidity, even despite the change in temp between summer, fall, and winter.
The fact that this uses distilled water, instead of propylene glycol, makes this humidifier that much better! You can find distilled water nearly everywhere, and I think I paid less than $2 for a gallon. Propylene glycol, on the other hand, is more of a specialty item usually found only at cigar/smoke shops, and the last 16oz bottle I bought was $12!!!
My only gripe is the magnetic attachment plate, because the mounting tape is weak. The unit kept falling off the roof of my humidor either because the metal plate that sticks to the humidor came detached, or the magnetic plate that sticks to the unit came detached. After I hot glued the magnetic plate to the unit, and hot glued the metal plate to the humidor, all is well.
I would take away .5 star for the weak mounting tape if I could, but opted to give 5 stars anyway because of my overall satisfaction.
