I BOUGHT THIS ITEM 6 MONTHS AGO AND NOW IT WON'T WORK. IT HEATS FOR AWHILE AND SHUTS DOWN WITHOUT DISTILLING ANY WATER AT ALL. NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

This product has a very short life span. I used it for a few months and then it started to leak. Collection jug cracked. Water initially smelled and tasted like plastic.

I guess the fact that I returned it, is an indication of what I thought. It wasn't just that it was defective ( the spout on the plastic water bottle leaked/dripped). This cost over $400 and they provide a cheap plastic water bottle. I don't really know how the distiller itself worked because the one time I ran it all the distilled water leaked out of the plastic bottle all over the counter and floor.

I have used this system for years and have never had problems with the systems, customer service or the quality of the product.

I think the 9000 is the best for home use and if you go to the waterwise.com website you can learn more about the debate about distilled water and decide for yourself. I think that you get what you pay for and that if you want years of service this is the system to choose.
